“AL Jackson at her best. She’s a wordsmith. A magnificent storyteller. A poet and a romantic. Mix all of this with some page-turning suspense, and a climactic ending, in more ways than one, and you’ve got yet another must-read.” -USA Today Bestselling author, Lauren Rowe

A beautiful story about redemption and love.
Al Jackson once again has woven tale that will take your breath away. Emily and Royce are a force to be reckoned with.
Their love story born in the darkness of secrets both damaging their souls. Redemption and revenge the catalyst that sets their story on motion. But what a story it is that unfolds between the pages.
The emotions bleed through the pages making you route for Emily and Royce to break the chains of their pasts and forge a future together.
I always enjoy the chance to catch a glimpse of characters of past books but the boys of Sunder are always a welcome addition to the story.
Grab your copy of Catch Me When I Fall and fall in love with Royce and Emily. I know did.
Another heart-pounding love story from AL Jackson. Superb reading!
Overall Grade: 1/2
I am completely and utterly drawn to the A.L. Jackson’s Falling Stars series. I said in my review of the first book, Kiss the Stars, that there is a poetry to Jackson’s books. In her second book, Catch Me When I Fall, Jackson continues her poetic storytelling. In this book, the danger of silence threatens the lives of her characters, and it makes for a compelling, page-turning ride.
This story continues to follow the journey of Carolina George. In the first book, the story revolved around Leif, the group’s drummer. In this story, Emily, the lead singer and only female, is struggling. Her ambition and drive to “make it” in the business is faltering. Her bandmates are clueless about her anxiety and reticence to sign a lucrative contract. What they don’t know is that Emily is harboring a secret, and her silence keeps her closed off and scared. When a record executive from the company that wants to sign Carolina George joins them on tour, Emily feels inexplicably drawn to him. Like Emily, Royce is also harboring a secret. As Emily and Royce are drawn to each other by some force, Royce’s secret threatens any future between the two of them. Is it possible for Emily and Royce to make beautiful music together?
At its core, Catch Me When I Fall is a beautiful story of two people who are hiding secrets. For one of them, it is dangerous. For the other, it will unravel the other’s world, while also championing for a family member. It is in this story arc where Jackson shows us the power of love to overcome fear and allow for forgiveness. As she lays out her story, you can’t help but fall in love with Royce and Emily. Their story is heavy and sensual and compelling. Jackson develops a magnetism between the two of them that pulls you into the story. It is overwhelming in all the best ways. As they come together and become pulled apart over and over again, your heart breaks for them each time, but Jackson’s ability to pace her story keeps you engaged. You need Royce and Emily to find their happy ending, and you’re willing to feel their pain and joy in equal measure. I think that’s what I love about Jackson’s storytelling. She has this ability to invest you in her characters. It doesn’t matter if they are doctors or construction workers or restaurant owners or bakers or rock stars. You feel connected to them, and their journey feels important to you. Royce and Emily are two people with some mortal wounds that simply need healing through their love for each other.
Even more, there is a poetics to Jackson’s writing. In this series and her Bleeding Stars series, Jackson’s story feels like a song. She makes songwriting look so easy as she presents her characters’ lyrics and music on the page. Yet, her style also follows this same meter. It is sometimes the difficulty in reading her stories. There are times when Jackson’s insistence on writing in fragments can slow the story down. Because you have to work between the phrases, it takes more time to move through the story. This could be intentional; if it is, it’s genius. However, when you want to get to the happily-ever-after for her characters, it can make the reader feel impatient, as the style slows the story. In Catch Me When I Fall, one of my favorite parts is the creation of a song between Emily and Royce. Their song becomes like a love letter, as their journey progresses through the story. That song is the memento of their journey, and it grounds their relationship when it feels lost. I loved that aspect of this book.
Lastly, there is a key message for women in this story. I want to divulge it, but to do so would spoil this book for the reader. Instead, I encourage you to read Catch Me When I Fall, so that you can be challenged to find a voice in the midst of injustice, to face fear and make choices even when it might come at some personal cost. In our world today, that message is more important than it ever has been.
Oh, how I love A.L. Jackson’s storytelling. The lyricism, her compelling romance, and the ethereal nature of your writing feel gratuitous and a personal treat. Emily and Royce’s story in Catch Me When I Fall is the type of romance we’ve come to love from Jackson: these are soulmates, fated for each other. However, in order to get there, they have to love themselves first, while finding their eternity together.
This was more like 3.5-4 stars. Emily and Royce had lots of secrets between them especially Royce. I’ll be honest I felt at times like they were so many things going on at once that sometimes I didn’t want to finish reading and other times I wanted to see what will happen next. Emily went thru a very traumatic incident that had her not wanting to move forward with her certain parts of her life. Once you find out Royce story and history that’s when everything clicks and you figure out that Royce has lots of layers but always cared for Emily. He portrayed himself as the bad guy but he was far from that. Great story.
A forbidden rock star romance? Yes, please. Then when you add in all the high-emotions and angst, and I’m so sold. Don’t miss this one.
Emily. The sultry voiced lead singer of up and coming Carolina George. Beautiful, down to earth, yet vulnerable.
Royce. The music executive. Dark and strong, a man with a past and a taste for revenge.
Maggie. Royce’s sister. Young and beautiful, yet scarred in ways that leave her stagnant.
These three have one thing in common. One commonality that brings them together. Hearts will be won and shattered. Fears will be faced and overcome. Love will win in the end.
You will not want to miss out on this ride with the Carolina George family that will leave you breathless and wanting enter their world time and time again!
THE FEELS!!! OMG THE FEELS!!! Once again A.L. Jackson delivers a stellar story that will wrap you up in so many emotions that you just cannot function after putting the book down! I have been intrigued by Emily and Royce and my mind is literally blown. I felt every raw emotion these two felt through the story. You have Royce who is a darker alpha who can brood with the best of them. You have Emily who wants what is best for her band but things get so twisted for her. My jaw dropped with the ending and how things are all intertwined.
Overall, this is one of my favorite Jackson books. I am not a massive fan of Rockstar books, but there is some magic that Jackson weaves within her words. They are so raw and beautiful and heartfelt. You feel what the characters are feeling. Especially in this one. My heart ached so much for Emily. Then everything Royce had going on. It was brilliantly tied together. Another beyond epic read from Jackson!
Such a gripping, emotional story that keeps you enthralled from the very beginning. If you’ve been around A.L. Jackson’s books (and truly you should have been), then you know who Carolina George are. This is their time, things are happening, deals are being made. But Emily, their amazing and soulful lead singer, is fighting demons and having a hard time moving to that final step. Enter Royce, dark, tattooed, beautiful recording exec who comes to help them sign. Their is instant connection between Emily and Royce (sizzling and amazing), but also secrets and baggage and demons that won’t seem to go away. Not to mention a hidden agenda or two . Try as they might to stay away from each other, their souls reach out to the other, and their epic story cannot be denied. But will love be enough when all is revealed? I won’t say. You HAVE to read this. Royce was d sad UCB a tormented soul, but filled with so much love and fierceness you can’t help but truly love him and hope he slays all the bad . Emily is pure and beauty and you just need her to be happy and at peace. This will keep grabbing at your heart, from the first page to the last. Definitely a must read!!
Amazing story with amazing characters, Miss Jackson did it again!
This is a book that packs a punch. It’s emotionally charged and once it gets started very quick paced. I read it in a day as couldn’t put it down.
Both characters are dealing with a lot and meeting changes both their worlds. The attraction is instant and nearly knocks Emily off her feet. She’s struggling to keep herself afloat and Royce provides the lifeline she needs to pull herself through.
The chemistry is just sizzling from the start and it flows at a realistic pace. Royce has that hardened alpha strength oozing from every pore which gives Emily the strength she needs to step up and deal with her demons.
There’s characters to love, characters to hate and the ending is very satisfying. If your an emotional reader than I’d advice having the box of tissues ready on standby.
I love this series and this world. Royce and Emily have an instant connection and from there it’s an intense ride. A.L. Jackson always brings out so many emotions in me while I read. Her words have a way of grabbing on to your heart and never really letting go. This is an absolute must read!! I can’t wait for the next story in this series.
Royce and Emily’s story was everything! I love a good rockstar romance but this was so much more. Emily is the lead singer of Carolina George a rising country band. Royce is the executive tasked to get the band to sign with his company. Both are hiding their pasts and struggling to fight their connection. This was a great read I loved all of the characters and Jackson’s lyrical writing style.
How can I possibly describe what I felt after reading this book?
“It was like there was a void inside of me where nothing lived. Nothing breathed. And one minute of you, and there was a flicker of life. A spark. ”
Catch Me When I Fall is a hauntingly beautiful story that will leave you breathless from the angst, speechless from the drama and gasping from the jaw-dropping moments that unfold. Amy is such a master with words that she delivers this powerful story as vivid images, captivating your attention page after page from beginning to end. Royce and Emily’s story was heartbreaking, gripping, raw and yet I was so consumed I couldn’t stop reading no matter the amount of tears and heartache I endured for these two. Their story is one that will stay with me and that’s how I know this is a TOP READ for me!
“You’re all fire, Precious, but the best kind. A star bursting on the stage. “
