Book 2 in this Falling Stars series and this was another very good read, it will pull on your heart strings with its angsty drama and you will swoon as Royce is brought to his knees by Emily. A great rock star read this one!!
Emily is the lead singer of a country rock band along with her brother and their 2 friends. They are on the cusp of mega stardom, but Emily is suffering greatly after suffering some abuse as he is a famous musician himself. She is anxious and fearful and doesn’t know which direction to take in her life.
Royce is the dark and brooding manager of a record label who are after Emily’s band. There’s nothing ‘managerial’ about his looks, dark, sinfully hot, covered in tattoos. Emily’s world is rocked to its core when they meet, she has no idea who he is, their attraction and chemistry are off the charts. But he is broken with a very bad past, he knows she is too good for him, but he also has an agenda that Emily knows nothing about, one that will break her heart.
A great read, I loved Royce and Emily, she is the light to his dark, sweet and caring, fighting her fears for all she’s worth. Royce is knocked off his agenda meeting Emily who rocks his world. He knows he should stay away, but is incapable of resisting her. He’s hot, brooding and beautiful in his vulnerability when Emily brings him to his knees.
A very angsty and emotional ride that will capture your heart through its tale of rock n roll romance. Highly recommended reading.
Emily’s Band Carolina George is on the cusp of making it big!!! Her brother and other band mates just don’t understand why she is holding them back from their big break as she is the only one reluctant to sign the deal, and Royce is brought in by the record deal to sweeten her up and get the deal done.
Firstly this book is full of angst, drama and heartache!! Told in both pov’s we get insight in to both characters backgrounds and all i can say is …my heart broke for both of them !!
Emily is hanging on by a thread, she’s lost, she’s carrying a secret that is eating her from the inside out, yet its also a secret that could destroy everything her, her brother and band mates have dreamed of!!
Royce is also carrying a sack of secrets on his shoulders, a secret that will bring disaster to the music industry, yet he is compelled to try to protect Emily!
OH HOLY HOTNESS, this couple lit up the sexy bonfires, yet their struggles tore you apart at the same time!!! Emily wasn’t part of his plan, and he doesn’t want her to get hurt but he cannot alter what is to come. This man is a man intent on vengeance !!! I honestly felt i was walking a tight rope with most of this book. AL Jackson keeps us in the dark of the secrets and suspense. I found my self going from anxious to downright moody with wanting answers!! Royce and Emily frustrated me, even though i fully understood their failing attempts and trying to deny their feelings, I so wanted them to be a couple, i adored them together !!! I loved how this book was written, it give me hot steamy Romance, it give me laughter, it give me tears and the suspense !! HOLY CRAP when the twists become untwisted i was stunned !!! Omg i even got a little blood thirsty and wanted that vengeance to hit with full force on those who deserved it !!! A fab panty melting read that also had me on the edge of my seat the whole time !!!!E
I’d originally listened to Catch Me When I Fall when it was released as an Audible Original back in February and was taken by the beautiful, heartrending story penned by A.L. Jackson and brought to life by Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke. I got to re-experience this tale of love and vengeance in its eBook form, and goodness, but how my heart got yet another workout. Yes, I may have already known what was going to happen, but that didn’t lessen nor tamp down my emotions while reading this book. It’s a rarefied few that can do that, but then this is A.L. Jackson we’re talking about here, and she’s an author who has repaid my faith in her writing and the time I put in while reading or listening to her work with the kind of stories that really get to me and remind about the power of love.
This gave me the angst that I crave but doesn’t overdo it. Yes, there’s drama, but there’s also a whole lot more than that, with a love story that was never part of either of the main characters’ plans. Both Royce and Emily were independent, strong-willed individuals who had secrets that they kept close to their vests. Their love for others came before anything and everything else, but that love and loyalty also came at a personal cost to both of them. These two went through the wringer, and my heart broke for them; yet, inasmuch as there was heartbreak, there was also hope and a hard fought happily-ever-after. I’m highly recommending Catch Me When I Fall. Five-plus stars.
Just as in the first book in this series, this book starts immediately from the first page on. There is no slow introduction to the characters, we find out what is going on while reading these pages. And I love that. Sure, in the beginning I wondered if I missed something.. but I soon realized I just had to be patient (not my strong suit LOL!).
From the moment I started reading this book I knew it was going to blow my mind. I just loved the main characters Emily and Royce and was rooting for them from the start. Emily is this kind, loving, talented singer and songwriter who has been through something horrific. And when she meets Royce, she feels this intense connection like they are meant to be together even they really shouldn’t be together because of their work situation. And Royce? Well… he is one lovely, handsome, kind, sexy book boyfriend. I just knew there was more to him from the very start.
‘Catch Me When I Fall’ is a book I simple couldn’t put down. I kept wondering what would happen next, and I ended up reading this one way past my bedtime. But it was worth every minute of lost sleep. This book really made me feel everything! It was sad, it was romantic, it was funny, there was some suspenseful moments.. I loved it.
Although this book is part of a series, it is a standalone. But I definitely loved reading a little about the characters of the first book. And there are so many other characters we read about too.. And I wonder what their story is. A.L. Jackson sure did a great job with this read and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Title: Catch Me When I Fall
Author: A.L. Jackson
Genre: Contemporary romance
My rating: 5 Stars
Wow! I was so excited to read this book. A.L. Jackson is an amazing storyteller and I’d have been surprised if this were a flop. True to her penmanship, Jackson delivered a magnificent story about Royce and Emily: two gutted individuals who share an instant connection upon their meeting. The words used to describe the plot, and characterization of the MC’s, drew me in. I could envision Royce, and Emily. I also felt their pain. Jackson has a way of forming mere words to reality, you believe the characters. You feel as if you’re a part of their world. She SHOW’S; doesn’t tell. And then she has the nerve throw in twists you didn’t see coming. Making this story one I’m glad I read, and one you shouldn’t miss.
*Thank you AL. Jackson for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I had a bit of a hard time getting into the story but after a few chapters it picked up nicely then. I really liked the chemistry between Emily and Royce. There was just something underneath it all that made you curious on how the story will go and what’s really hidden…
Emily is the lead singer of the band Carolina George and their future is looking bright with hopefully the signing of a contract that will change her life forever. One event changes it all and she doesn’t know what do to but when she meets Royce, there’s just something about him that makes her feel something that she has been missing but after one night, she doesn’t see him again until next time she sees him is the surprise of a lifetime. He’s the one that will sign her band… But there’s more than meets the eye and there’s a lot more to him than she knows. Even though they grow closer the more time they spend together, Royce is trying to do whatever it takes to try to claim back his past and do the right thing. But will he be able to keep Emily safe from harm?… And will he finally get the redemption he so deserves?…
I am loving this series. It feels so good to be back in A.L. Jackson’s rockstar world.
Catch Me When I Fall is another beautifully written, emotionally charged, hopeful read by the wonderful A.L. Jackson. The second book in the Falling Stars series takes you along on Emily and Royce’s journey of healing and vengeance. I love, love love the connection between these two. Maybe a little too instalovey but I still couldn’t get enough of their chemistry.
Royce Reilly joins Jackson’s long list of delicious heroes. My goodness. Can A.L. Jackson write a tortured soul or what?! Driven by pain, revenge and love, Royce captured my heart right away. I swoon for the way he loves because when he cares for someone, he will move heaven and earth to protect them. Evident by what he did for Emily and his sister.
I adored Emily Ramsey. Sweet, loyal but full of pain, I could help but love her. Yes, there were times where I questioned her decisions to keep her secret to herself. But, I can admire her dedication to her bandmates and especially to her brother – who, by the way, I hope we get a story for because he needs to redeem himself in my eyes.
I’m addicted to the way A.L. Jackson keeps you guessing. She pulls you in only giving you a little bit of information at a time. And, you’re on pins and needles waiting for something big or a twist to happen. When it comes …gah!… blown away.
I highly recommend picking up these Falling Stars books. They’ll make you, swoon, feel, and love. But also, who doesn’t want to read about yummy musicians.
Holy smokes! A.L. Jackson gave it to me good. Rockstars. Trauma. Family. Suspense. Steam. Danger. Those things are just the tip of the iceberg in Catch Me When I Fall. The opening alone had my heart pumping while it was breaking.
I loved Emily. Her spunk. Her talent. Her fear. Her determination to not let the events of her recent past derail the future that she and her band have been working towards for years. Also not willing to let her be the reason Carolina George doesn’t get what they deserve, Royce.
Oh Royce; stoic, mysterious, angry. But drawn to Emily in a way he knows he shouldn’t be. I loved how he gave her a safe place to lay her worry and fear. But the more she pushed him for more, the more he pulled back. He knew what he was planning would wreck her. And he tried, he really did but she was the temptation he couldn’t resist.
As Royce spends more time on the road with Carolina George, it becomes pretty clear he is up to something. He was just biding his time until the moment presented itself. When it did, all hell broke loose. The fallout was massive. Secrets revealed. Dreams crushed. Hearts broken. And in the middle of the chaos was Emily. A.L. Jackson had me hanging on every word as those tense moments played out. Talk about emotional intensity! But that ending, be still my heart, it was the exact right note.
AL Jackson gives readers another incredible book full of angst and beautiful people. Royce and Emily are quite the story. Both filled with secrets of their past affecting their future. It takes quite a bit of the book to know their histories but I was addicted to know what happened to both of them.
Royce tells Emily right from the start he’s not good for her yet he can’t stay away. He becomes her protector. Emily is struggling with the secrets she’s keeping. As she opens up to Royce… I feel in love with them.
Love AL Jackson’s writing- loved this line so much… “A song is nothing but a dream. And we dream out loud,”- love her rockstars!
I didn’t want the book to end and can’t wait for more!!
“The man written in opposition. Rebel and ruler. Contradiction and conflict. A bottle of discord and mayhem and destruction. A very expensive brand of sin.”
*fans self* Royce is EVERYTHING!!! Gorgeously mysterious, I fell for his powerful presence immediately and swooned after him on every page. So many skeletons and demons and past mistakes trailing behind him and Emily, it near broke my heart around every turn. They were written in the stars, but had to leap over a million obstacles to find that out, and I was so deeply engrossed for every second! Beautiful, darkly intoxicating, their chemistry swirled right off the pages, and held me captive, unable to put it down until I savored each and every word.
“I felt him like a landslide. The sweeping of every cell. A gathering that shattered until I knew nothing but the pleasure I’d only found in this man.”
Twists and turns, secrets revealed, often wondering if this intense romance would stand the test, and through it all your heart drops and explodes, cheering for this couple as if it’s happening to you. Off the charts romantic and steamy, it’s hit my Top Reads of The Year and is proof positive why I love this Author and her poetic prose. It’s beautifully written, captivating, and crazy good!!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“My heart. My haven. My dark star.”

Royce and Emily will have you falling in love with their story. Beautiful broken souls drawn to one another. Twists and turns will keep you turning the pages. I couldn’t put the book down.
It was raw emotionally, with a beautiful love story between a lead singer of a country rock band and and a record executive that is weaved throughout. Ends with HEA.
I love AL Jackson’s words! Rockstar + Angsty secrets = click!
I loved this book! It has everything that you want. Lies, secrets and characters that we live. Royce and Emily are fantastic and together they will have your heart exploding out of your chest.
There are twist and turns but when it all comes together and all the secrets are out, we end up with a fabulous story about survival and moving in. Revenge and starting over. I absolutely loved it!

Catch Me When I Fall is a devastatingly beautiful love story that consumed me from the very first page. Once again, AL Jackson delivers an incredibly stunning rockstar romance. A gripping love story that is powerfully inspiring, emotionally raw, and breathtakingly romantic. A story delivered with so much heart and soul that that I fell deeper in love with the characters and their epic love story with each turn of the page. This book is everything!
Royce and Emily are absolutely breathtaking together. They stole my heart! Two broken souls inexplicably drawn to one another yearning for the missing piece that makes them whole again. They are powerless to stop the fall — the pull is irresistible and undeniable. Their connection is strong and intense. They are mesmerizing. With a beautifully written storyline that flows like music and entrances you with it’s lyrics. Captivating. Spellbinding. Poignant. The twists and turns are a rollercoaster ride of emotions and suspense that left me reeling. I could feel every emotion experienced; they radiate from the pages. I laughed, cried so many tears (happy and sad), felt the butterflies, the heart palpitations, the pure joy and every ounce of pain. The heartfelt moments stole my breath and the heartbreaking ones shattered my heart. Oh, and those swoon-worthy moments left me breathless! This book has all the feels!! I loved every second and didn’t want it to end. This is why I read romance — to experience these unforgettable love stories. Some books leave a memorable impression and then there are books like this one that sing to your soul and leave a mark on your heart!! Worthy of 10 falling stars!!! Catch Me When I Fall is one book you definitely want to read!!
From the very first chapter I felt the pain, the devastation, the fractures and the heartache. As the air grew dense between Royce and Emily the fiery passion brewing between them almost stole my breath. Their story was like a summer storm building in the distance, you could feel the intensity as you readied yourself for the crescendo. As the darkness came to the surface I felt like I was stumbling right along with them and not sure if someone would catch me before I fell. As the guilt, anxiety and trepidation circled, my heart ached, my breath stilled and my pulse raced. Like a beat drawn to the rhythm Royce and Emily were a song written from the heart. My heart was splintering open as sacrifices were made and lies were uncovered. The hurt, the betrayal was almost suffocating. Their story was intense, impassioned and intoxicating, your heart and soul will be powerless against the love that is Royce and Emily. This was nothing short of beautiful, a rhythm in poetry that will leave you breathless.
AL Jackson knows how to write a tortured soul. She weaved a story with lots of depth and emotion making you feel everything her characters were feeling. This story pulled on the heart strings with so much angst I wasn’t sure I would survive. There was passion and heartbreak and romance all swirled together for a perfectly angsty romance.
Signing on with Mylon Records is exactly what Emily and her bandmates need to ensure the ongoing success of their band. She is still trying to heal from the chaos in her personal life which combined with the stress of her professional life is having an effect on her artistry. What was supposed to be one night to just feel and forget her problems could derail her entire future.
Royce is determined to sign Emily’s band to his recording company but he has a much larger agenda that is starting to control his life. Spending the night with a sexy stranger and then finding out she is part of the band is a complication he isn’t prepared for especially when it seems like one night was not enough.
Emily is loyal and will do anything for those she cares about with little consideration for the consequences it could have on her while Royce attempts to heal have placed him on a collision course with Emily. The emotions are raw, the angst is high, the chemistry is hot and they will either help each other heal or destroy each other in the process.
3.5*
I received an ARC of this from the author for review. My thoughts and opinions are my own and haven’t been influenced.
I enjoy spending time in the worlds that this author creates. The characters are flawed in a way that feels real and real enough to really get invested in their story. The plot of this is a real slow burn, but the romance is not, no matter how long and hard they fight it, it’s instant.
Catch Me When I Fall just might be AL Jackson’s sexiest, grittiest, rawest book yet, and Royce is definitely the dirtiest talking and hottest bad boy she’s ever written!
Emily is torn…torn between letting people who are counting on her down and her anxiety brought on by past events she won’t talk about. The future of Carolina George is riding on her shoulders, and Royce is at the center of it all. They fight a losing battle when it comes to the intense attraction between them…an attraction so strong, it could literally be felt. They’re a conflict of interest in more ways than one.
Royce is a contradiction…he may radiate power and look like danger, but he has the heart of a protector and makes Emily feel safe.
I definitely expect angst with A.L.’s writing, but this book started off from the get go in a state of unease that didn’t subside and my heart was somehow invested early on…that’s how well she’s able to connect you to her characters with her words!
I wish I had A.L. Jackson’s way with words right now because there’s no way I can express how much I loved this story the way it deserves. I know I think this with every book she writes, but this is my new fave. Saying that I loved Catch Me When I Fall is a huge understatement…top read of 2020 for sure!
