A stunningly sexy standalone with all the feels!
As my first A.L. Jackson book I was blown away! I wasn’t sure what I expected. Maybe a sweet and soft romance? Nope, not this one! Catch Me When I Fall was an epic story that had me emotionally invested from the first page. I was shocked by the darker undertones that came out to play and was head over heels for Royce from the second that Emily spots him in a rundown bar. Sexy, dark, brooding, and always watching. He has her in his sights and he isn’t leaving any time soon.
Emily is the quintessential good girl with killer pipes and a band of men that love her like a sister. But for months she hasn’t been herself. Plagued by dark events and a fear to take their bands fame to the next level, Royce comes into her life to convince the band to sign with the label. Little did she know she would be signing over her heart too…
I am so excited for this series and I am dying to read book one (oops I skipped the order – oh well). I experienced so many emotions and was left floating on cloud nine.
”Your voice is the only song I hear.”
How does AL Jackson steal my breath, take my tears, hug my heart, and stamp all over my soul with every book she brings to life? In the seven years I’ve read this insanely creative and brilliant story maker’s words, I can’t help but declare that AL Jackson’s writing is on its own level. Her prose stands on its own pedestal. Like all of Jackson’s soul-slashing stories, Catch Me When I Fall is a potent blend of poetry and lyrical prose with beauty, brokenness, and passion woven with a parallelizing intensity that evokes every emotion.
Catch Me When I Fall is story of a hero and heroine linked together by music, a journey of two shattered souls who become whole together. Royce is one hell of a hero: broken, broody, sweet, sexy, charming, protective, and all man. Emily is stunning, light and sweet with a voice and heart of sunshine. A hero and heroine who are the anchors to each other’s storms, drawn together like two broken moths to one burning flame. Oh did I feel them burn! I felt their pull pierce me through the pages.
The depth and broken beauty in this book parallelized me, trapping me in this tale’s trance. My emotions were so engulfed in this story that I could do nothing but surrender. I became undone, as Catch Me When I Fall took me under its soulful spell. I felt every zap of energy and every emotion behind every word, words that made me bleed tears from the raw broken beauty of this book.
Each word a star that shines in the dark.
Each line a lyric.
The story a song singing to my soul.
All woven in a spell of serendipity.
Catch Me When I Fall is a heart-stopping story of soulmates, serendipity, and second chances at life and love. It makes you believe in love against the odds … believe in light after darkness … believe in the impossible. Catch Me When I Fall claimed my heart, blew my mind, and stole my breath from the very first page . . . and never stopped. This passionately poetic, weak-in-the-knees, angst-bleeding, breath-bating, soul-slashing, brokenly beautiful masterpiece that wholeheartedly caught me as I fell under its spell. I’m still flying.
There aren’t enough stars in the universe to bestow on this heart-stopping story, a star that shines in spirit and soul.
but worth all the soulshine stars
! This book had me from the first words. Royce was something else. Broody, manly and so sexy. Emily was troubled, sweet and a dark star. Love them, love Carolina George. The bleeding stars series is everything!
Catch Me When I Fall is another one of Amy’s masterpieces. She never fails to excite my emotions and I love how I can just get lost in her stories. I never want to put them down. Catch Me When I Fall follows the lead singer of Carolina George. Emily has had something traumatic happen to her and she is trying desperately to hold herself together. Royce enters her world as an executive from a label trying to sign the band. There is an instant connection that they share. Royce is instinctively and instantly protective over her. They both open to each other and can’t seem to stay away. Secrets eventually get out and some drama ensues. But their story is a rollercoaster of emotions, suspense, that I thoroughly enjoyed. Gotta love those bad boys who will tear thru your walls and totally tear your world upside down.
Catch Me When I Fall is A.L. Jackson’s latest second chance romance in the Falling Stars series that will leave you wanting for more.
As the lead singer of the country rock band, Carolina George, Emily Ramsey has her hands full. The band is about to have its big break and that also means more responsibility for give her while on tour. But there is something holding her back, preventing her from signing in with a big record label that would change their lives forever. It would take meeting a mysterious stranger to give her some of the hope that she needs to be herself again. But the minute she finds out who he really is the next morning, Emily has to put her band first no matter how much chemistry she has with Royce Reilly. Yet, the more they get to know each other, the more she wants him to be her no matter the consequences of being together.
No matter how much success Royce Reilly has, he has one thing in mind and that is to get revenge against those that have hurt in the past. When he is given an opportunity to sign an up-and-coming band, he jumps at the chance without realizing that the lead singer would steal his heart. He knows that they shouldn’t be together, but Emily has brought him hope and he is not about to let her go that easily. As the two go through ups and downs, they will have to decide if their broken souls can fix one another before it’s too late.
A.L. Jackson has a way of telling stories that I love, they are full of emotions and relatable characters. There is no denying the explosive instant chemistry between Emily and Royce in the book, they both face a lot of obstacles and they are more connected to each other than they think. While they story is steamy and incredibly romantic, I found myself a bit confused with the set up of the story as a whole. It was as if I was missing information at the beginning until to fully getting it at the end of the book. I do wish the author could have elaborated on some scenes as well, it would have the made the story a lot better. I loved the secondary characters, they brought fun to the story and the ending will melt your heart. All in all, the book was full of twists that you don’t see coming and will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I would still recommend it and I cannot wait to read what happens next in the series. 🙂
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
This book is just what I needed right now.
It’s gritty, steamy, has tragedies that will break your heart and boundless amounts of emotion.
The depths of Royce and Emily’s love for each other is unfathomable.
Absolutely amazing. Royce and Emily meant to be together from the beginning. Even though they tried to stay away from one another. A must read.
“As long as you don’t let me fall when I get there.”
“If you do , I will be there to catch you.”

I’ve been looking for a book like this one for a while , for a story that swept me off my feet and made me fly through the pages. I’ve read this book twice already and I still can’t find the right words to describe how much this story meant to me.
This book it’s perfect , it deserves 10 stars, hands down a masterpiece and definitely on the top 10 best books of the year and forever a favorite of mine.
I loved everything about this book. Emily and Royce are two broken souls but together they put piece together their hearts . The chemistry between them is palpable and they fall for each other deeply and without meaning to.
This book it’s everything you want drama, angst (so much angst), secrets , twist and turns, steaminess to die for , a once in a lifetime love story that’s going to make you remember the reason you fell in love with romance in the first place , it gives you all the feels . This book was so perfect I didn’t want it to end .
A.L Jackson never disappoints with her writing , no one writes rockstars better than her . I can’t recommend you this book enough because words can’t describe the amount of perfection this story was , favorite rockstar book boyfriend of the year.
When I pick up a book, any book, by author A.L. Jackson, the question is never “will I love it,” but “how much will this wreck me?” Because Amy’s books are emotional, heartfelt, romantic, and always, always, angsty, with emotion so palpable that it virtually leaps off the page. Honestly, I always need a little bit of time to gather myself before I can write a review, not because it hasn’t touched or inspired me, but because I’m busy putting my heart back together afterwards.
CATCH ME WHEN I FALL is the second book in the Falling Stars series, an off-shoot of the Bleeding Stars series that introduced readers to the boys of Sunder. I still haven’t quite recovered from those books, and this new series, the characters and their stories, are as devastating and redemptive as their predecessors.
There is so much pain, so much anger, so much loss, and yet so much love and forgiveness packed into this book. The pull between Royce and Emily is truly magnetic, and even before the revelation as to why becomes clear, there is no question that these two could keep from coming together, no matter how much they try to deny that force. That two so seemingly different people could coax the hidden strength from each other seems unlikely, but this is, after all is said and done, a love story, and crafted as only Amy can. Hearts shattered and put back together again, brokenness realized and repaired, hope extinguished and reignited. Love wins.
Per usual, five stars doesn’t seem enough for this story, which will stay with me for a very long time. And as any storyteller worth their salt, Amy has planted the seeds for the next book in the series, and I can’t wait. Until then, I cannot recommend CATCH ME WHEN I FALL strongly enough. If you haven’t had the chance to fall in love with Royce, Emily, and the other members of Carolina George, give yourself the gift of doing so now.
Whenever Ms.Jackson announces a new book I can’t contain my excitement! Having read the first Falling Stars book, Kiss the Stars earlier this year this book became one of my most anticipated reads! From the prologue this story pulled me in and I needed to know more. I didn’t want to turn away from my kindle and I had to finish reading it in one sitting. I really enjoyed this story!
Royce and Emily’s journey made me feel SO much throughout!
Ms.Jackson has created such an awesome read with Catch Me When I Fall!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
Catch Me When I Fall is the second book in the Falling Stars series by A.L Jackson. You can read it as standalone but I highly recommend reading Kiss the Stars since it’s not only amazing but that is where you meet Emily and the rest of the band of Carolina George.
Emily is the lead singer of Carolina George, an up and coming rock country band that is about to hit it big. She loves traveling with the band who is more like family but she also longs for a simple life too. She is torn between the two so when a record label wants them to sign on the dotted line, she feels the pressure. If this was an option six months ago she would be the first one to sign but now it’s different. Her life has changed. She is in panic mode so when she runs into a bar, takes a few shots and meets a man who sets her on fire…she gives in. He is the first man she feels an intensity with. A need. A want. A passionate night. She had no regrets until the next morning at a band meeting when Royce walks in.
Royce knew it was a mistake. His biggest one to date. There was just no way he could not want her. She was beautiful with a voice of a star. And that was why he was there. To sign her band to his label. He knew she wasn’t sold yet so he needed to show her that she can trust him. Trust him to do what is best for her and Carolina George. Doing what he did the night before wasn’t exactly doing it. He had to stay away. He knew this but his body and heart were not on the same page with his mind. He had to do this. It had to be done. He needed to stay on task.
Royce and Emily’s connection is epically beautiful. Poetic really. You can feel it from the moment they meet. They is so much more going on behind the scenes though. Can they both get everything they ever wanted?
Overall…the writing is fantastic. The story is full of passion, beauty, suspense, love, family, friendship, and hatred. I read most of it in one sitting! I am so not a night reader so I just need to stop trying. Lol. Carolina George’s bandmates are awesome! I do have my favorite and I can’t wait for his story!
Quotes:
“I’m not scared of you,” I murmured, wondering just who it was that I was tryin’ to convince.
“You should be.”
“How about a little compromise. You and I pull an all-nighter and get our workout in my bed. It’s a win-win.”
“In your dreams, cowboy.” (Oh, Ryhs…I love you.)
“So beautiful. Every part of you,” she whispered like praise, her expression severe and intense and awed. “I bet I could write a million songs about you.”
Swoooooon! I loved this book. I thought I loved Leif, but Royce blew me away! His intensity and the red hot attraction between Royce and Emily was addicting. Their angst and chemistry were off the charts. I could not get enough of this couple. The storyline was entertaining and the touch of suspense was enough to keep me turning the pages. I love reading A.L. Jackson’s stories. They have everything I love in a romance novel. She is one of my go-to authors that I can always depend on to deliver a 5 star read. Just like all her others, I loved Catch Me When I Fall and I highly recommend it!
Review by Lys
Catch Me When I Fall by AL Jackson was a fantastic read!
Royce and Emily are two characters will make you fall in love over and over again. From the minute you begin reading, you will be able to feel the chemistry between them. There were so many moments that made me fall in love with Royce, especially when he was protective, and constantly stood up for Emily. In will renew your faith in the power of relationships.
This novel was such a beautiful read. You could tell how deeply the connection between these two characters ran. Despite the battles and emotions they have gone through in the past, the deep-rooted passion they hold for one another, serves as a path forward.
I loved every single element about this novel. It was phenomenal from beginning to end.
5/5 Stars!
Catch Me When I Fall. I’ve been struggling to focus reading during quarantine but still reading some absolutely Amazing books. I couldn’t sleep 4am I got up and read till I finished. Oh my gosh I barely have words for this beautiful haunting story tears and all. Girl you sure know how to write hot steamy sexy intriguing so many FEELS incredible stories and characters. Love the appearance of Sunder too. Thank you for your gift of word so lyrical. Were you ever a song writer? Or do you get some help from song writers? Love you Girl
This is Book 2 in the “Falling Stars” Series and although it can be read as a stand alone, as some of the characters from the previous “Kiss the Stars” book appear in this story, I think it adds to the reading experience if you read them both.
Royce Reilly is a music producer and he wants to sign a contract with country music band Carolina George. This is when he meets their lead singer Emily Ramsey.
Both Royce and Emily have secrets and although we catch glimpses of them, until the last chapters of the book we won’t discover them.
The chemistry between the characters is explosive and the book kept me on tenterhoops until almost the end! Great read! Highly recommended!
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Amy’s — I love her lyrical way of writing, the onslaught of emotions she’s able to convey in the most beautiful way, the connection her characters share and the jaw dropping twists — I love it all! That being said, it did take me a bit to be fully immersed in this story, but I am so glad I pushed through because it is truly beautiful.
Emily and Royce have been through some terrible heartbreaks, and each of the emotional scars to prove it. Emily has the opportunity to sign with a label, but is hesitant to stay in the music industry because of what happened to her. Royce is the one trying to convince Emily to sign her and her band to the label, but he also has other intentions.. And when all the truths come to the light, will have a relationship left at all?
I’m not a huge fan of Insta-love, but somehow with Amy’s writing it just works. The way she writes her characters show the genuine pull they have to each other, and Royce and Emily are no different. Whay really bothered me though was that Royce refuses to fully open himself up to her, and I really wish he would have trusted Emily enough to let her know what he was planning. However that in no way cheapens the story and I can’t wait for more to come from this brilliant author!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
Who says you can’t mix business and pleasure? Royce is on a mission to get Emily and her band, Carolina George, to sign a recording contract, but one look at Emily, and one time hearing her sing has Royce wanting to be her protector. He wants to protect her from anyone that could hurt her, including himself. Unfortunately, the more they push each other away, the more they are drawn to each other. The magnetic force is pulling them towards one another. I loved how this book made me feel every emotion. This is only the second book I have read by A.L. Jackson, but I am quickly realizing why she is such a popular author. I can’t wait to read more from her!
I absolutely loved this book!
This author once again proves why she is, and still remains to be one of my “go to” writers that never disappoints.
Catch Me When I Fall is the latest book (#2) in the Falling Star Series and really is a must read for 2020.
I could not get enough of Royce and Emily together!!
I ate up every ounce of angst these two had to endure, along with the drama and twisted up road they had to travel in order to get their HEA-yep, it’s a standalone novel-and the journey was worth the reward!
Royce’s past has certainly delivered some blows, leaving permanent damage in its wake. Things that still have their grip on him that he can’t seem to shake free of.
And while Emily has been dealt her share of heartbreak, she manages to keep it to herself to shield those around her that she loves.
What I think I love most about Royce and Emily’s story is that not only do you get that steamy insta-love feel paired with a really intense connection, but it’s almost as if when these two are together, they awaken something inside one another, bringing out their true selves.
Broken but protective.
Hurt but standing strong.
This book gives you a little bit of everything, written with A. L. Jackson’s signature lyrical flair that mesmerizes as it pulls you in deep, from beginning to end.
I would highly recommend this book and any other book by this author. She continues to write 5 star reads and I don’t see her stopping that trend now, or ever.
