“AL Jackson at her best. She’s a wordsmith. A magnificent storyteller. A poet and a romantic. Mix all of this with some page-turning suspense, and a climactic ending, in more ways than one, and you’ve got yet another must-read.” -USA Today Bestselling author, Lauren Rowe

After LOVING Kiss The Stars I was over the moon excited when Catch Me When I Fall hit my kindle app {huge thank you to AL Jackson for sending me this beautiful copy}. I couldn’t wait to read more about the country rock band Carolina George. The chemistry between Royce and Emily was immediate and breathtaking. The emotion and tension between them was something you could physically feel whenever you read any scene with them even in the same room. Both of these bruised souls were struggling through the storm of their lives only to find a life raft within each other. I loved hearing more about Emily’s band mates especially getting a little more of Leif. I am crossing my fingers we get another book with these characters. In the meantime I am looking forward to reading about all the Sunder fellas
4.5 Stars
I am really loving the Falling Stars series and this is a fantastic addition! I loved Emily and Royce and their rock star, angsty story! A.L. Jackson does such a great job filling this story with emotion, it’s powerful and consuming with just the right amount of drama.
Emily is the lead singer in the country-rock band, Carolina George, and they on the verge on being huge, but Emily is struggling. She is filled with anxiety and trying to overcome, but she isn’t sure if she can carry on. Royce (oh man, this guy!) is a man with a plan, one that involves Carolina George. These two aren’t supposed to drawn to each other, they aren’t supposed to have this connection, but it is definitely there.
Theirs is not an easy journey, but it is so very worth it! It all comes together so very beautifully and my heart was happy. This was one of those books I just didn’t want to put down, even when it felt like my heart was breaking, I needed this story. Another great read from A.L. Jackson!
Another absolutely stunning epic love from A.L. Jackson. This book stole my heart and still has yet to return it. I loved every minute of reading this book. The writing is poetic and beautiful. The characters are complex and make you fall. The angst and passion is in perfect balance. I always love A.L. Jackson’s work and I can’t wait to read more from her and she what she has in store for us next
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
I liked Mia and Leif, but I straight up LOVE Royce and Emily! Catch Me When I Fall is one of those books that I couldn’t let go when I finished it and I had to go back to re-read certain parts just to relive it all again. True to the author’s writing style, their journey is a little tumultuous with a lot of push and pull. But I loved the imagery that is evoked of her light to his darkness, her angel to his devil… or is it her angel to his avenging angel?
Carolina George has been on the music scene for several years, but they are just finally starting to get the recognition and fan base they deserve. Their dream of making it big with a chance at a record deal is being dangled in front of them, and the guys are excited for the opportunity. They cannot understand why Emily is dragging her feet, but in the typical way of most guys, they aren’t seeing her very clearly at the moment.
Emily has lost the music in her soul at the worst possible time and her world is no longer making sense to her. She won’t share the triggering event with anyone, least of all her bandmate brother who seems to be the cause of it all, because if she looks too closely at the reasons she is afraid of what she might find. After running off stage in the middle of a song, she flees to a local bar to try to stave off the panic attack and comes face to face with one of the sexiest men she has ever met. Despite the intensity radiating off him and the fact that he is the exact opposite of the men who have piqued her interest in the past, there is something familiar and right about him that prompts her to act out of character for just one night only to be left more confused when he tries to be honorable by walking away.
Royce has been driven by one goal for the past few years: exact revenge upon the men who hurt his little sister and who also took everything he loved away from him. He works for his stepfather, the head of Mylton Records and the man he despises, with the sole intent of using him as a means to an end. Carolina George was supposed to be a part of that process, but once Royce hears the band play, he knows they have real talent that deserves a genuine chance at fame. Their gorgeous lead singer was never a factor in his plan, but once their paths cross his plans are irrevocably altered. He just hopes that he can find a way to keep her from hating him in the end.
They get off to a rocky start, but the initial chemistry that brought them together just burns brighter instead of diminishing with constantly swirling undercurrents of confusion, attraction, and secrets. Royce may be a dark avenging angel searching for justice, but he is also an unexpected savior who helps Emily beat back the shadows that threaten her and who brings her music back. Royce is beyond intense, and his fierceness and devotion as he struggled to do the right thing just won me over time and time again. The twists and turns that play out as the story progresses had me hooked too.
My only wish would have been for a longer epilogue, but I am hopeful that we will see much more of these two in the remaining books of the series. I can’t say enough good things about this book, so I will leave you with “go buy it”!
This book rocks!! It has a lot of interesting things going on. The characters are amazing and they fit well together. It has all the feels and keeps you on wanting more! Love it!!
I was in the mood for a rock star romance so I gave this one a go as A.L. Jackson has been an author on my to read list for so long! This is the second book in the Falling Stars series about the band members of Carolina George but I read this as a standalone. Overall, I’d say this was a well written book that most readers will like if you’re a fan of rock star romance or even romantic suspense.
Catch Me When I Fall gives us the story of the lead singer of Carolina George, Emily, and the record producer who’s set on signing the band to his label, Royce. One night when she’s feeling down, Emily finds comfort in the arms of a man who can finally give her the peace she’s been desperate for. Only she doesn’t realize until the morning after that the man is the record producer who is dead set on signing their band. In an attempt to convince the band and Emily to sign a contract, Royce tags along on their tour bus when things continue to heat up between these two. Only Royce is hiding secrets. His goal is to not only sign the band but to follow through on a plan of revenge to save his family.
I really liked the chemistry between Emily and Royce which was palpable from their very first encounter. They are similar in many ways and he becomes her protector, savior and biggest champion at a time when she most needs it. This story, however, is definitely a case of instalove and there really isn’t much time that goes by on the road where they fall for each other. I like to believe in love at first sight so I just went with it. Most of their interactions at the beginning is focused on fighting their attraction and talking about why it was a bad idea to start something when they could have been spending some time actually getting to know each other.
While I think the writing was great, it was definitely overly descriptive to the point where I would find myself scanning sentences to get to the point. It was also a LONG road to get traction on the hidden story line that was continually hinted at but wasn’t brought to the surface until the last few chapters. I’m not a huge fan of romantic suspense so this probably won’t bug fans who are.
The storyline also touches on a topic that I ALWAYS steer clear of as a trigger warning which is why this book wasn’t a higher rating for me. I realized where the story was going early on but I wanted to stick with it. The trigger wasn’t thrown in my face too much but again, it’s not a topic that I care to read about so that alone soured me on the story where it may not bother someone else.
Even though this is the second book in the series, I didn’t feel lost not having read the first book. Other band members were mentioned here and there but nothing about them really captivated me with the exception of Emily’s brother Richard so maybe I’ll check out this story if it comes.
I’m glad I read it and I’m sure some will love it. Especially those who love rock stars!

A.L. Jackson is a Queen in the rockstar romance genre, and Royce and Emily’s story did not disappoint! An interesting twist to this one is Emily is the performer and Royce is the record company exec trying to sign their band. Royce is a broody, alpha bad boy with a secret past he’s trying to hide. Emily is the southern good girl who loves to sing but is in a bit of a creative slump with her writing and unsure whether she really wants to pursue the big stage. There’s been some trauma in her recent past and the secrets she’s hiding will affect not only her but her band mates.
This story gripped me right from the beginning, and the way Jackson weaves a story so eloquently and emotionally always leaves me breathless and eager for more. I absolutely loved the song lyrics in this one, and Jackson’s writing is so poetic and beautiful, you can’t help but be immersed in the story and the characters and just feel EVERYTHING!!
If you haven’t read A.L. Jackson yet, what are you waiting for?? Her books are so beautiful and always take you on an emotional, exciting ride!
~ 5 stars!
Thank you to the author for providing me with an arc.

I absolutely loved Royce and Emily’s story! Royce is an intense, beautiful and protective man with a lot of secrets. Emily is a talented lead singer of Carolina George but after experiencing a traumatic event a few months back, she struggles with whether her life goal of making it big in the music industry is what she really wants. Royce must convince Emily that she has the talent to take their band to stardom. What a beautiful love story that will tug many emotions from the reader.
Royce and Emily’s story will give you all the feels. Their story is one of tragedy and one of redemption and one about moving on with life and learning to live after something terrible has happened. These two were written in the stars. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and you can feel the bond between the two of them. This was a beautifully told story. Loved it!
If you are looking a book with romance, secrets, angst, an explosive couple, you have it in this one. Love how A.L. Jackson kept us with the secrets until the end, everything that happen and the ending was glorious, you knew how to keep me in my toes and made me fall for this couple, this one goes to my shelf for rereading.
If you’re looking for an angsty book that’ll hit you right in the feels, look no further. Catch Me When I Fall is a masterclass of angsty tension, complicated characters, and a poignant narrative arc. I thought I knew where this book was going, and was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. Reading this was immersive, and I devoured it in one sitting. Fans of A.L. Jackson and newbies alike are going to be obsessed with this novel.
“Why is it that every time I get in your space, I feel like that’s where I belong? You make me feel like I can spread my wings. Fly even when I’m fallin’. Like I can tell you anything.”
First book I’ve read by Ms Jackson, a thoroughly enjoyable book. Hooked from the prologue, remained glued to the pages until I read…The End. Catch Me if I Fall has everything I love, it’s angsty, romance, emotional and suspense. The characters were well developed and relatable, their banter was entertaining and had me laughing. The narrative was on point and I could place myself sitting watching the southern charm.
Royce was a tortured soul, he’d endured more than one should have to in a life time. His stepfather was a heartless, bully and he abhorred everything the man stood for. He promised his sister, he’d always be there for her and he’d make it all right. He’s been given a month to sign Carolina George to Mylton Records. Emily their lead singer doesn’t trust easily and is very uneasy about signing the dotted line.
Country girl Emily lost her innocence and trust, she needs time and space to gain some perspective. Suffering from panic attacks whilst on stage and the ability for song writing seems to of dried up. Several Tequila shots later, she meets Royce and the sexual tension is cataclysmic. Next day she finds out he’s there to sign them up, but it going to be travelling with the band. Something about him that has her opening up, divulging her deepest and darkest secrets.
Catch Me When I Fall by A.L. Jackson
Words Should…. Come easy when your heart hasn’t been temporarily removed from your chest! This is how feel!!!
A.L. Jackson’s writing is like a thousand piece puzzle, in which it takes time to put each piece in it’s correct place. At times when your reading her words, she has the ability to make you look at your choices of pieces and rethink your process, and just when you ready to restart it, is when the story GRABS YOUR heart and gives it a good squeeze, and the pieces start to become clear and fall into place!!
Mrs. Jackson is a Angsty Writer and with this story, she brings all your emotions full circle! Emily was a spark of electricity that built that fire that Royce needed, and Royce was that boulder that she needed to steady her life. They were each other missing puzzle pieces!
“You make me feel like I can spead my wings. Fly even when I’m falling.” “Like I can tell you anything.”
One Book Written… One Heart Broken, One Puzzle Piece…. Putting You all Back Together… These are what A.L. Jackson’s words do to her Reader’s, and we are forever like moths to her bright flame!
AL Jackson’s does it again. She is my all time go to author. Her words make me feel everything. This story is no different. I hope you all fall in love with Emily and Royce as hard has I did.
I don’t even know where to begin. AL Jackson is always a going in blind one-click author for me. There is nothing I have read of hers that I have not loved. She has an uncanny way of bringing out all your emotions and this story is no exception. The detailed word building with the characters coming to life on the page is just phenomenal.
Emily and Royce are as complicated as you can get. Both have issues that affect any decisions they make about their lives. They are intertwined in such a way that causes some issues with their budding relationship. To say Royce has demons is an understatement. But his demons cause him to fight for all the right reasons, it just takes a bit to see it. Going against the powerful wheel of entertainment for justice is not an easy task but Royce has a plan – he just didn’t count on falling for Emily.
Their journey is hard with a lot of mistakes and heartache along the way, but in the end, you realize they had to take this route to find their happily ever after.
Catch Me When I Fall was an amazing story! I just loved reading about Royce and Emily’s love story. It was real, intense, and filled with so much emotion. Royce and Emily were two people who have been through a lot and seeing these two people connect on such a deep level was astounding. They were meant to be and I just adored their romance. Just like in every AL Jackson book, there is an another layer to the story and I was excited to see how it would all play out. I was sucked in from the beginning and couldn’t get enough. Amy is such a talented writer and I just love reading her books because I know they will be magnificent.
It is so hard for me to accurately put into words how mindblown I am with every new release AL Jackson puts out. She has a way of telling a story that hits you right from the start like a bolt of lightning. Her characters are so expertly developed that you actually “feel” what they feel and experience. Reading her work is like a balm to my soul. This new release is no different. I fell hard for badboy, Royce in the Prologue and am currently still obsessing over him. He is all the things a girl wants and needs. He is rugged, hot, sexy, talented, protective, caring, and so much more. Emily is the beautiful, talented, selfless girl who is trying to balance stardom with strength to overcome a past that still scares and haunts her. Her “soulshines” through her voice and music. These two find an instant connection, but both fight their feelings due to their own personal demons and pasts. This book knocked me off my feet, ripped my heart out and then Jackson expertly put me back together…
Oh my word! This is my first time reading from the author and oh my goodness, why did I wait this long? Seriously.
Catch Me When I Fall is the second book in this series of standalone, rockstar/ small town romance. It features the sweet and strong lead of Carolina George, Emily and the brooding, tortured music exec Royce. All I can say is, this book has all the formula that I want in a love story- beautifully imperfect characters, a lot of angst, undeniable and insane chemistry, the love and loyalty that family brings. It’s no wonder that I have fallen so madly in love with this story and of course, Royce. Let’s just say that Royce now belonged on my list of book boyfriends, LOL! This book deserves all the 5 stars and more! I loved it and recommends to those who love this series! Can’t wait for more!
Did you see AL Jackson’s angsty new forbidden romance? It’s out now and free in KU (with over 100 5-star reviews)! Happy reading.
