Emily Ramsey is the soulful and spunky lead singer of Carolina George. But for months she has been suffering alone regarding something that happened to her. She is in pain and drowning. She is under pressure from the band and their possible new record executive to sign a contract, but she has reasons to avoid it.
Royce Reilly has been assigned the task by his stepfather and owner of Mylton Records to acquire the band no matter what. Royce has also been through pain, much of it coming due to actions from his evil stepfather and others from his own mistakes. He is angry, bitter, troubled, and set on revenge. He already feels like he sold his soul to the devil and has nothing to lose. But he may just have another agenda.
Emily and Royce have an explosive first meeting with passion unleashed and no questions. But then their second interaction becomes volatile due to the circumstances. But now they will be together for in the close confines of a tour bus and trying to resist their magnetic pull is going to be even harder. But no matter how dark and distant Royce tries to be, for some reason he also makes Emily feel safe and protected. Their chemistry is off the charts and they make each other come alive. But they both know it is a bad idea and Royce especially keeps trying to resist to avoid making questionable choices.
I felt so bad for both of them since they had so much pain from the past that was still holding them down, and it took a long time to start sharing it. And they had a hard time finding the strength and hope to try to move on. She was afraid to even tell those closest to her or ask for help, and it just frustrated those that cared about her. He was a man in conflict and was tortured with the need to make things right for everyone. He does not feel worthy and wants to protect her, but she is persistent and stubborn. And eventually, they will be forced to drown in the darkness or take a stand for themselves and maybe each other. But there are so many underlying agendas at play that could ruin everything. I enjoyed trying to figure out all the secrets and twists…some I figured out and some I did not see coming.
This is an intense, angsty, emotional, sexy story of revenge, hope, healing, soul mates, and second-chances. It is told in dual points of view that was necessary for the full impact of this story. The author writes in such a poetic way that ramps up the intensity of the scenes, and the music lyrics just embellish that. She also adds layers of mystery and secrets to the plot.
I love the camaraderie of the band with Leif, Rhys, and her brother, Richard. Although they are not as easygoing as they used to be and there are definite secrets, conflicts, and underlying drama going on. Richard’s secrets are layered into the plot of this one and I am looking forward to his book next.
Angsty, forbidden goodness, with a rock star! You’re going to LOVE this one!
My very first AL Jackson book and I died a little inside it was that good! Good heavens what rock have I been loving under that this was my first??? Doesn’t matter, because It will not be my last – I’m absolutely hooked. The mark of a truly fantastic and gifted writer is when they take you out of your comfort zone and make you glad that they did. I am not a fan of rockstar romances and I tend to avoid angst filled reads (because books are my escape from reality) but this book, is both those things, and made me change my tune – thank you AL Jackson for giving me that. Royce and Emily’s journey towards one another is turbulent and emotional and you will fall hard and fast for both of these beautifully damaged souls. TBR Catch Me When I Fall and enjoy.
Forbidden romances with steam, angst, secrets and a ROCKSTAR! Yessss!! I love it all! You’re going to love this one romance readers!
I listened to this when it came out as an Audible Original. I didn’t think there was a way I could love it more than I did. But I was wrong! So, so wrong! This story was full of twists and turns and secrets galore, and reading this after listening to it, knowing what was coming, just made me fall even harder. All my emotions were on high as I anticipated each of those twists and secrets revealed. And oh! The Easter Eggs I found along the way, things that didn’t catch or understand the first time around. Oh, I loved every minute of it, more so than the first time.

I’m not sure there’s any way for me to love this story more. The connection between Royce and Emily was intense from the very beginning. There was so much intrigue, so many moving parts, and I loved watching them all come together in this amazing and beautiful story.
I loved Emily. She was sweet and kind, and wasn’t afraid to go after Royce, even when the things that had happened to her caused her a never-ending fear. I loved Royce. He was gruff and protective and stood up from Emily before she even knew who he was. I loved how this story unfolded, how the two of the connected and rose above the bad. And Oh My Goodness! That ending had me in tears!
The cast of characters was fantastic. Rhys had me laughing my head off, especially when he was talking to Mel. Leif was this dark and broody character that has me so intrigued, I’m dying for his book. And Gah! I need to know what’s going on with Richard! I need his story, too!
The narrators did a fantastic job on this one. I could listen to Virginia Rose’s voice and picture Emily telling me the story in her sweet little southern accent. And Jason Clarke was the perfect Royce, his voice dark and sexy just like the man himself.
Fabulous story! I can’t wait for more!
“Your voice is the only song I hear.”
A story that calls to you like a siren’s song. Light and darkness. Hope and heartbreak. Salvation and destruction. Strength and beauty woven into Emily and Royce and their powerful and emotional story that captures your heart and makes your soul sing.
I never knew what it meant
I thought my heart was breaking
Turns out it was only making room for you
So catch me
Catch me when I fall
I’m right here
Waiting for you to catch me when I fall
Breathtaking second installment of the Falling Stars series. I’m eagerly awaiting more stories from these characters. And that epilogueI need more; please tell me there’s more! Swoon
4.5 stars
I really liked this story. The beginning was a little frustrating.. I felt there was a little too much in the dark just for the sake of keeping it from the reader but I enjoyed how it all panned out and all the piece of the puzzle fit into place. I sat down and read through the whole thing in a day wanting to know where it was all going.
The connection between Royce and Emily was unquestionable and I’m always down for a book that has great pull between the characters.
Outside of the main characters.. AL Jackson really makes us fall in love with the side characters which in turn makes me come back for more so I’m so ready to ready about Rhys and Mell and Richard. Bring it on.
With darkness comes light. That’s the situation Emily, the lead singer from the band Carolina George finds herself in. Things are on the rise for this popular hometown band, their on the verge of signing a major record deal with a record company and things couldn’t be any better right? But things couldn’t be worse for her. She’s harboring a dark secret that is overtaking every part of her life, that has her acting as the lone hold out to sign the record deal. Feeling like her life is in a free fall she knows she has to come clean about this secret, but knows she could possibly destroy her brother and bandmate in the process. Feeling the need to unwind after a fallout with the group, she heads out to Charlie’s bar to clear her head. Little does she realize the handsome stranger that’s about to waltz into her life will leave on a mark on her heart like no one before.
Royce has been summoned by his step father who’s the head of Mylton Records to head to Georgia and get Carolina George signed ASAP to the label. He despises the man he works for, knowing the depth of evilness running through the mans veins. But Royce is on a mission. His sister that he loves dearly has been hurt, and he will do whatever it takes to bring everyone that has hurt her to their knees. But meeting the beautiful and enticing Emily will throw an wrench in those best laid plans.
Emily and Royce’s attraction to each other is instantaneous as soon as they meet. The connection Emily feels to this stranger is undeniable, and little does she realize that their meeting wasn’t the surprise she thought it was. She realizes what his agenda is, to get her to sign the record deal, but as Royce follows them on tour, they both realize the feelings and attraction their both feeling are to hard to ignore.
This book is a little different from the normal poetic writing she gives us, I enjoyed that aspect of the book. The story is filled with drama and angst, and the secondary characters play a vital role in supporting the story line.
I really loved Emily’s and Royce’s story in Catch Me When I Fall. My heart was beating fast and hurting for these two. I figured Royce was just as damaged as Emily or even worst.
What happens at the beginning – will put the story in place. Suspense and trying to figure out a secret. Royce was making a chess move and he was going for check mate. I had my suspicions that Royce may understand Emily more than what we knew.
Emily’s character shows compassion, love, loyalty, and strength. Royce is fierce and a protector. Once Emily and Royce were together, they became an inferno. I love Caroline George crew. I feel like they became family and we have yet to uncover a few more secrets.
Catch Me When I Fall is like fumbling through dark tunnels with a diamond at the end. Angst will no doubt be your friend. So many layers to this story and I loved them all!!
~Crystal’s Book World Review~
„I want it all. I want it with you. Wherever you go, I want to go with you.”
Catch Me When I Fall is another book from A.L. Jackson that’s full of emotions, tension and surprising twists and turns. This rockstar romance consumed me completely, alternately making me cry, sigh and swoon. The author’s poetic prose captivated me from the very first page and in combination with the addictive storyline I was not able to put this book down even for a second. Royce and Emily’s story was a heartbreakingly beautiful journey and experiencing it gave me all the feels.
Emily and Royce share incredible chemistry and tension so intense that it could be cut with a knife. They are both broken and they both have secrets that hang over them, reminding them that they shouldn’t act on their feelings. Royce has this all bad boy vibe going on, he’s broody and covered in tattoos. Over the course of the story we learn that he’s also possesive and protective over his loved ones. He represents everything I love about Jackson’s heroes. Emily was a little bit harder to figure out. Because of everything she went through, I saw a lot of fear and anxiety in her, but over time I met her as the perfect combination of sweetness and sass. Watching her find her lost confidence was simply amazing. Their chemistry has been palpable since their first meeting, and with each overturned page it only grew stronger. The push and pull made me glued to this story and I was waiting with bated breath for the outcome. And Emily and Royce didn’t disappoint!
This book was full of angst and heartbreaking moments. But it was also uplifting and moving. I love how this author always makes me feel. She pulls my heart through the grinder, just to sooth my ruffled feelings in the end. Catch Me When I Fall is one of these books. It will keep you in the suspense and drain you emotionally, but it’ll be worth it to know such an epic love story.
Catch Me When I Fall is an intense angst-filled book that left me a bit breathless. For me, I feel as if A.L. Jackson has upped her game as she delivers a powerful one-two punch with the whirlwind romance between Royce Reilly and Emily Ramsey. They have an instant kind of connection that takes both of them by surprise and although I’m not usually a fan of that sort of immediate love, it truly works and in time, makes complete sense. The fact that both have deep dark secrets they are afraid to say out loud adds the right amount of drama and I was literally on pins and needles wondering just when they would have to finally be said.
I tell you, I had to take numerous breaks as my stomach was in knots for a good portion of this story. Jackson brilliantly leaves a trail of hints throughout each chapter about what Royce has done in the past and what will eventually transpire in the very near future. His intentions towards Emily and her tight-knit band, Carolina George seem honorable but the inner thoughts we are privy to definitely had me on edge knowing that whatever would happen, might obliterate both Royce and the woman he is desperate to keep.
The selfless Emily is filled with anxiety as she and her brother, Richard, together with band-mates Rhys and Leif are on the cusp of stardom. This quartet is loyal to a fault and Emily has a fierce determination to not let what she think she knows about her brother ruin their chances. I was impressed by her being able to find a way back creatively, albeit with great trepidation, with the stalwart Royce as her unexpected muse. With her new man tied up as the A&R man for Mylton Records and primary go between, there is a whole lot to lose, both professional and personally.
But make no mistake about it this is a heart-wrenching love story at its core that happens to have the cutthroat music business as the ever-changing backdrop. There are familiar characters who make an appearance and in turn, had me comparing this story a bit to the first Bleeding Hearts book about the band Sunder. Royce and Emily love as fiercely as Baz and Shea did and do and I was on the edge of my seat once more, hoping that everything would turn out the way it should.
Again, despite the fact that Royce and Emily find themselves inextricably drawn to the other at first glance, it all makes sense in the end. But with a truly beautiful last few chapters that warmed my heart completely, I was beyond fulfilled. In addition, I cherished the fact that we didn’t really know who would ultimately catch who, since both Royce and Emily seemed to be on the precipice of falling hard, both personally and professionally.
A.L. Jackson continues to be a go-to author for me, one who crafts stories that are tender, sexy, passionate and most importantly, full of a kind of love that makes me sigh and swoon over and over again.
With that said, I happily give Catch Me When I Fall a huge 5 stars!
Where to even start. So much emotion with this story. Catch Me When I Fall is such a beautiful story of love, protection, heartbreak, and loss. Tears of pain you will shed and feel what Emily and Royce are going through. You become part of their story. Feeling every emotion they are feeling. Emily is dealing with demons no one knows about and Royce is trying to right wrongs that were done to him and his sister. What Royce doesn’t consider is falling for Emily while he tries to right these wrongs. Emily has been unable to write or feel the music since she was attacked by Cory but since meeting Royce her heart is open and the words are flowing. She has her passion back and together they are creating beautiful harmony. But will she understand all that he is doing? He keeps warning her about his past but she says nothing will change how she feels for him. How will she really feel when the truth comes out?
This story is absolutely amazing. From start to finish it is filled with so much you cannot put it down. A true 5-star read. Her stories always keep you on the edge of your seats and always coming back for more.
A.L. Jackson is at it again! She knocked this Audible Original out of the park. It had all the authors classic touches. Intrigue, twists & turns, angst, thrilling moments, heartbreak…and so much more. I listened to the book as well and the narrators, especially Jason Clarke did an incredible job of bringing life to the characters! He also did such a good job at changing his voice for each character he read and I appreciate that. He made me believe. But above all else he made me FEEL. He brought so much life to the authors words I was on the edge of my seat and my ears were happy!
Once again A. L. Jackson has blown me away with her words!!
Catch Me When I Fall is book 2 in the Falling Stars series. It is standalone. It is the story of Emily, the lead singer of Carolina George, and Royce, an executive from a record label. Good lord I love these two so much! I was hooked on their story from the first page. It grabbed me and made me feel so many emotions. They each have been hurt and feel such a deep pain. Pain they didn’t think they could get past. Their attraction was immediate and intense, soul deep. Their road to a HEA, twisted. More twisted, and intertwined, than Emily could have known. Protective Royce was right there for her, to catch her when she fell. My words will never be able to do this book justice and 5 stars are not enough!
A.L. Jackson can do no wrong when it comes to a rockstar romance. She pulled it all out for Royce and Emily’s story. Royce is everything you want in a broody alpha and so much more. Emily is the perfect southern girl trying to make it in the music world while holding onto some pretty serious secrets. So many things happened in this book with an explosive ending that was so surprising. There are still some questions I have and I hope we learn more about the other members in Carolina George soon!
Rate: 4.2 / 5 stars
I was so excited for this book. I loved the first one in the series so much so I could not wait to get my hands on this one. I gotta be honest though, it took me a while to ge into in the beginning but I think it was completely my fault… I was just in a very weird mood and could not read much at a time. Because from the very beginning these two share such a visible connection, one that threatens to jump off the pages.
Both these characters have been so terrilby hurt and they are living with that and how it has affected their lives. Emily finds herself doubting her future and postponing signing a record deal. While Royce lives to get revenge for all that was stolen from him and his sister. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time to finally learn exactly what had happened to both these two characters and once it all comes to light, it’s even more crazy and heartbreaking than I had thought. My heart hurts so much for Royce and everything that was done to him. It made me sick. I did love how these two characters were so connected and how there was a reason why their pull towards each other was so strong. I legit love that in stories and Amy never fails to give me that.
Catch Me When I Fall is a story about two lost souls that find each other when they’ve lost hope and themselves. They build each other help, help each other see the light and find justice for what they have been through. I loved how their relationship progressed, even though Royce never completely opened up with Emily, I still loved watching them openining up to each other about themselves, I loved how they wrote a song together, it was such a cute thing. There were a lot of swoony moments between these two.
Amy’s writing as always is beautiful and lyrical and just swoony. Although in this book it felt a little tamed down. But I still really enjoyed this book and adored these characters. I’m super curious about Emily’s brother. I hope his book is next and we get our remaining questions answered.
I’ve read and enjoyed so many A.L. Jackson books, but I think that this one just might earn the top spot of my Jackson pile!
While this is book 2 of the Falling Stars series, I believe it can be read it as a stand alone, but I’d recommend that you start with Kiss the Stars because it’s so good and some of the characters spill over into Catch Me When I Fall. Not only that but characters from the Bleeding Heart series make an appearance as well. Both these series’ characters are bonded by their love of MUSIC.
Music producer, Royce (Reed) Reilly, just secured himself a place as one of my favorite A.L. Jackson males. This dark, brooding, tatted man has a score to settle, a big one, which you’ll need to wade through pages to discover. Royce’s mission is upended when he attempts to sign the upcoming country band, Carolina George, and gets to personally meet their lead singer, Emily Ramsey.
Together, behind closed doors, Royce and Emily are explosive! Each of them has a secret, and those secrets are about to reconstruct the walls they dropped.
Beautifully written in A.L. Jackson’s distinctive style, steeped in southern charm and loyalty, Catch Me When I Fall is a heart twisting must read.
Royce and Emily are on fire!!! Lana~ White Hot Reads
I love me some rockstars. Emily is trying to get her mojo back after something horrible happens to her and Royce shows up and saves the day. The angst is over the top and the sexual tension is overwhelming. Royce is determined to protect Emily at all cost. Some twist I didn’t see coming and we get to see our favorite Sunder boys.
