Catch Me When I Fall is the second book in the Falling Stars series. and I loved it. As we delve into the lives of this up and coming country rock band and the talent scout looking to sign them, it soon becomes apparent that things aren’t as they seem. The story was intense and gripping and will have you hooked from start to finish. Royce and Emily together were amazing and I loved the progression of their relationship in this book. The secondary characters provided balance and support and added so much to the story.
With engaging characters, and an engrossing storyline, this novel had it all, drama, secrets, vengeance, romantic tension, sweet and steamy scenes and so much more. I could not put it down and would recommend it to all romance lovers.
5 Star Review Catch Me When I Fall (Falling Stars #2) by A.L. Jackson
Where do you start? Firstly A.L. Jackson tore my heart out, ripped it to shreds then put it back together again. I was fully invested in Emily and Royce’s story from the first to the last chapter.
There was so much passion and drama in this story. There were times when I was on the edge of my seat as the drama, angst, regrets, sacrifices, passion and heat unfolded. I love a bad boy with a heart of gold that will swoop in to save the heroine and Royce certainly does that and more.
Emily and Royce together are a great couple and I was riveted as I read, anxious to see how these two damaged souls could and would mend each other.
This book will take your breath away, it’s got all the feels and it will tick all your boxes. It’s an emotional read that will break your heart one minute and leave you smiling the next, if you are looking for a captivating story that will draw you in and won’t let you go look no further than Catch Me When I Fall, Emily and Royce’s journey.
Royce is one of those men you can’t get out of your head, he is a bad boy with a heart of gold and he is more than happy to come to the rescue of Emily lead singer with Carolina George. The band are about to get the break they have been working for but Emily is an emotional wreck, she has lost her mojo and can’t seem to put pen to paper when it comes to her music.. Royce is the mystery man who comes to her rescue, who makes her feel whole but it’s going to take a lot to get past the secrets both hero and heroine are hiding so well….
Two damaged souls who together can help each other mend. This book ticked all my boxes it was everything I expected and more, I swooned, I smiled and I shed a tear as I joined the emotional journey Ms Jackson took us on with this great read. Looking forward to more from the Falling Stars.
Loved this story of Emily and Royce. The spark and chemistry. The love, heartfelt, emotions story!
Audio for this is awesome great. Love the narrators. They made it so easy to feel the emotion while listening to them.
4.5 stars
Emily Ramsey is caught up in the pressure of celebrity, haunted by events that cause her daily fear and anxiety, especially as she is being encouraged to sign with a music label. She is hesitant to continue with music, after what happened to her, but has a lot of people depending on her who she doesn’t want to let down.
Royce Reilly has been tasked by his stepfather to convince Carolina George to sign to their label. He has even more on the line than signing the band though, and when Emily connects the dots, she may not want to sign with him after all.
From the first night they meet, there is a connection between these two. Emily doesn’t usually pick up strangers in bars, but the safety she feels with Royce has her dropping walls that she has held up to protect herself. The passion from that night is halted when Royce’s reasons for being in Nashville come to light. Now Emily has to decide what to trust and what is show business.
There were parts of this story, most of it really, that I absolutely loved. Because I have read most of AL Jackson’s work, I already knew I loved Carolina George and have been waiting to get deeper into the band’s lives after meeting Leif. Emily is as sweet as they come, so I was excited to find out her story. But there was a lot of drama building up to the final resolution that caused added stress for the characters that could have easily been remedied with a little communication. I realized Royce’s plan needed secrecy, but with the connection that formed between them so quickly, it kind of hurt that he didn’t trust her to let her into the plan.
Overall, this was an entertaining read that would have been quick had I been able to read it over a weekend rather than during a work week. Though there is a lot of angst, the characters are solid and the chemistry is through the roof. I am still a huge Carolina George fan, and can’t wait to see if my predictions about Richard’s girl are correct. There will be fall out because of some events at the end of this book, and I can’t wait to see how the band rallies from this conclusion.
A.L. Jackson has a way of eliciting the most-raw emotions when she writes, Catch Me When I Fall will have you spiraling through every emotion.
It is crazy how A.L. can propel you to the heavens leaving the hairs on your body standing and your heart pulsating.
A.L. Jackson is the true Soul-Shine and Mind-Wrecker in the most brilliant way.
Catch Me When I Fall is a masterpiece!
Captivating! Beautiful! Entranced! Emotionally compelling so deep it will rock you to the core!
I am convinced that A. L. Jackson holds the award for the most powerful Mind-Wrecker in the most beautiful way! Exquisite!
You know that you have read the BEST STORY EVER when you are reading and it totally leaves you speechless in tears and having to take a deep breath, when your heart is racing and you know that you are coming to the end…. when you are at war with yourself because you are torn… you keep turning the page because you just can’t put it away and you are afraid that the next page you turn will be the last page. I believe it is the greatest war you can have within yourself. Then and only then do you know you are ready the next #1 bestseller. Catch me when I fall had me totally enthralled…. I could not sleep I was victim, an addict, unable to stop wanting that next fix.
Catch me when I fall is the story of two broken characters with highs and lows twists and turns. Lust and love. Royce Reilly is fighting the demon of his stepfather the man who stole his family and life. Royce arrives in Savannah to sign Carolina George as the next band for Mylton Records. Only problem was he was never expected to be drawn to Emily, the lead singer of Carolina George like a moth to the flame.
“I touch you, and you won’t ever forget it. I’ll wreck you, beautiful. Looks to me like your heart is banged up enough.”
“Don’t settle for anything less than everything. I will die before I watch you do that.”
“Come on, let’s get you back to the hotel. I’m going to walk you to your door, let you inside, and then leave you there and spend the rest of the night wishing that I didn’t have to.”
Emily is having to fight her own demons aware that they have taken control of her and she is trying to fight them she leans on her kindred spirit Royce. Unable to stay away she is so allured by her beautiful voice… she is his “Soul shine”. Royce speaks to Emily is ways no other person can. Her happiness is all he wants for her.
“You are, Precious. Brave. Strong. I see it in you. No one can stop you.”
While innocent Emily continues to be drawn to the deepen Royce haunted by the darkness of his past; loathing what he must do with a hidden agenda full of secrets and agony he is torn by “Love is the hearts greatest deceit”. Convinced he is not worthy of her love or beauty.
The beauty of “Catch Me When I Fall” is be able to feel each emotion, each kiss, each tear, of these two kindred characters whose lives are so totally intertwined how their souls are desperately pleading to mend their broken hearts how they are absorbed in taking away the others pain in the most beautiful way for healing.
No matter how hard Royce tries to keep it professional trying hard not to allow it to get personal he is unable to stay away from his “Little Mind-Wrecker.”
“You told me not to lie to you, Emily, and the truth I’m terrified of falling for you. Terrified of the way you make me feel. This wasn’t supposed to happen. “I’m already wrecked, baby. And when this ends; I’m pretty sure I’m going down in flames.”
When the band is given their biggest break to have them sign their recording deal with Mylton Records; turmoil sets in for them, their lives are changed. Royce made a promise to protect Emily from her past…. Isn’t it funny how live can change in an instant? “You are the one I’m fighting for Emily I love you.”
Top 10 Recommended
We have the latest by A.L. Jackson, Catch Me When I Fall and oh my god this one really made me want to cry, scream and just go all aww. We have Emily, lead singer for Carolina George, a band that is getting to the point where they can be called famous but still be humble struggling to hang on with what is happening. All she wanted was to sing and have the elusive white picket fence, husband and 2.5 kids dream then again this is a book by A.L. Jackson nothing goes that easy. Then we have Royce, the man with the dark onyx eyes that can hypnotize you to the point where he can reach into your soul just looking into his eyes making Emily wanting more of this mysterious man. We see Emily at a point where it’s not just her dreams but the band finally getting to that place where they are being recognized yet someone out there is torturing our Emily. Royce not only is mysterious but has an agenda not even I saw coming making you wonder is he really the good guy or the villain in this book. A.L. Jackson have to say once again surprises me each time she writes the music lyrics in these books filled with pain, heartache, hope most of all redemption like her characters are wanting peace however fighting to find it to keep it forever. This book is not just of Emily and Royce we see characters from her previous books making you once again get that gooey feeling only A.L. Jackson can bring out of you. Truly enchanted with this book love it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
Royce, seems like he is a super bad boy from first impressions. He’s tall, dark, broody, and tattooed.
Emily is a singer with her up and coming band, Carolina George. Seems sweet as peach pie. Emily has an encounter and it has left her very shaken. Emily gets up on stage to perform and all of the sudden she can’t! She’s frozen! She has been having panic attacks ever since this happened to her.
One night Emily and Royce run into each other in a club and one thing leads to another and Royce can’t keep his hands off of Emily. Emily can’t seem to keep her hands off of Royce. Winding back at her hotel room they don’t let things get too far. The next day at her band meeting Emily and the band are introduced to the new manager, who else, Royce of course!
Royce has a plan of action. However, being around Emily may ruin that plan. Will Royce still be able to execute his plan? Should he tell Emily about it?
Will Emily be able to break free of her panic attacks? Will Royce be there for her as so many have failed her?
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Emily is on verge of accomplishing one of her goals but something is holding her back. When everything comes to the breaking point, she meets a mysterious stranger. Royce was sent to get a job done but he wasn’t expecting how Emily would effect him. Can he accomplish his goal and resist her? Can Emily get Royce to act on his obvious attraction?
HOT. NEW. Angsty Rockstar Romance.
and ummmm…. look at that cover. YES!
No one does angst like AL Jackson!!
I don’t even know where to start except to say that Catch Me When I fall is a MUST READ! AL Jackson has done it again. She is a wordsmith, her words are magic when she puts them all together to create a story that captures your heart and soul from page 1 and doesn’t let go. I could not put this story down, I finished it at 3:00am in the morning. From the moment you start reading you can feel the angst. Royce is all male. A man driven to protect even though he has been beaten down and lost a lot. There are hints along the way that something bad happened in the past, but you don’t know what. His chemistry with Emily is off the charts. Emily is fighting her own battles but feels an instant connection with Royce. “A promise of the most delicious sort of sin.”
Don’t miss this beautiful love story.
Wow… That’s all I can say about A. L. Jackson’s novel, “Catch Me When I Fall”…
This book was initially published as an audiobook. Since I prefer written form (no hate for audiobooks, they are still great! I just tend to get visually distracted when I’m listening instead of looking) and knew this story was coming out that way soon-ish, so I held off on diving into it. I’m so glad I finally did! This book was/is an absolutely fantastic read!
Once again, A. L. Jackson has graced us with a story of two very deep and fantastically written characters. Royce and Emily are hands down some of my favourite Jackson characters. It seems she just raises the bar for her stories with every book, flawlessly one-upping herself each time. Simply put, every one of her books is even better than the last!
As expected with A. L. J.’s work, “Catch Me When I Fall” is a perfect blend of all the feels. Deep, sexy, romantic, heart-wrenching, heart-warming and swoonworthy. See? A perfect blend of everything you want in a good resonance novel!
Long review short, this book is amazing and I highly recommend reading it! Five stars!
This story was absolutely everything! Emotional, beautiful, heartfelt, tragic, mesmerizing, and hopeful! I loved every single second. This is what romance looks like! Once Royce and Emily’s worlds collide, it is on. But there is so much she doesn’t know about him. Will that be a deal breaker? They make such beautiful music together! Emily is the lead singer for Carolina George and Royce enters her life at the perfect time in more ways than one. Their chemistry and passion is too big to ignore. I felt everything these characters were feeling which is such testament to this author’s incredible talent and way with words. This is truly AL Jackson at her best! The supporting characters are wonderful too and add so much to the the events in the story. Read it or listen to it but do not let this one pass you by! If you choose to listen, let me just say that Jason Clarke as Royce is just yummy!! The fantastic narration elevated this story into the stratosphere!!! Virginia Rose was the perfect Emily, strong yet vulnerable all at the same time. I absolute loved it!!! What a journey Royce and Emily took my heart on! Catch Me When I Fall is one of those stories that stays with you in the best way!
“I touch you, and you won’t ever forget it. I’ll wreck you, beautiful. Looks to me like your heart is banged enough.”
Catch Me When I Fall was a great book, and my favorite thing was the progression of Emily and Royce’s relationship. Most of AL Jackson’s book start of in a bit of an insta-love/lust way, which I normally don’t like, but I always enjoy how the author handles it in her books. So I didn’t really mind it in this case. Emily is the lead singer of the country band Carolina George (the same band Leif from the previous book Kiss the Stars is a member of), and Royce is head of A&R at Mylton Records who is put in charge to convince the band to sign to the record label. However, from the start you will notice that things aren’t what they seem, and that Royce is hiding things from Emily and the band. He is out for revenge, but who is he exacting the revenge for and what is his end goal? You’ll need to read the book to find out.
“That’s what fallin’ does, Royce. It changes everything. Because when you fall, you don’t know where you’re going to land. This…this was where I wanted to be. To fall and land in the safety of your arms.”
I loved seeing Royce and Emily trust and open up to each other. Royce was very caring, protective and understanding. Emily has been hurt in the near past and is trying to find her way out of the darkness. Royce sees her cry out for help and piece by piece pulls her out of that darkness. I loved these two together so much. The dynamic of their relationship was great, and the way the it developed felt very organic. They were both hurt in the past, but they were able to heal each other and come out stronger. The setting of the book was also very enjoyable, I especially loved when the band was on tour and back in their home town. This book was romantic, emotional, suspenseful, sensual, and a little bit mysterious, which all worked perfectly together. I only wish the epilogue was longer, but it did make me extremely happy when I read it.
