One hot mess. One hot boss. One too many hot encounters…It’s not you. It’s me.No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.Everything I touch turns to crap. An apartment fire–that I swear I was not responsible for–means I’m living back at home with my sex-mad parents. Yay, me!Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant … is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.
Ahem.
On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.
Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.
Now, nothing is easy–except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do porn, it’s just not worth it.
Or is it?

Emma has done it again! There is something about her RomCom’s that have me laughing out loud at how real life they are. I think out of all of Emma’s leading female characters, Mallory might just be my favorite. I’m not sure if it’s her walking disaster qualities that I relate to so much or her ability to handle the extremely assuming elderly in her life. Either way, she is hysterical.
Cameron and Mallory are two very different people but their chemistry is out of control. Mallory’s sass is exactly what Cameron needed is his life, he just didn’t know it. Watching these two fall in love and banter it out was one of the many reasons I loved it.
Catastrophe Queen is Emma Hart’s next hilarious, flirty, and addictive standalone. I know that when I open one of her books, I will be laughing throughout the story. I fucking love it. Always. The synopsis is amazing so I will make this short and sweet.
Mallory is the ultimate klutz. Cameron thinks it’s adorable. The two met in an awkwardly dangerous way and now Cameron is her boss. She is so embarrassed and hopes that he doesn’t remember her. No such luck. Cameron couldn’t forget her. She was funny and beautiful even though he mostly just saw her running away. Well, she can’t run now. Mallory needs this job so she could move out of her parents’ house. She loves them but they drive her crazy.
Cameron and Mallory’s working relationship is a fun one. He thinks she brings a breath of fresh air to the office. And she thinks he brings sexy back. It’s tense but at the same time, it’s wonderful. They have a way with them. It works when on paper it shouldn’t. The attraction was clearly there but can they date? She needed this job and dating the boss might not be the best idea.
I thought this story was so much fun! Their banter is flirty, fun, and adorable. Cameron surprised me. I thought for sure he was going to be a manwhore or an asshole and he wasn’t. I loved that. I mean, if he was those things I still would have fell but not as hard or as fast. And Mallory…omg, she is a hot mess but is a strong woman who actually knows what she is doing. Most of the time. When she isn’t tripping over air. The hot mess works for her. It’s her and I loved her. It made for some good laughs.
Overall…I loved every minute. The characters are lovable. The story is fun. The writing kicks ass. I can’t wait for Emma’s next book.
Quotes:
“I got the job!”
Aunt Grace looked up from her paper. “But you didn’t get any pants on.”
The last thing I wanted was for him to realize I’d been checking him out. Ugh. But it was so unfair. I wanted to check him out like a library book.
“Wait, you flirted and didn’t scare him off? Wow. He must like you.”
I turned and shot her a look. “Thanks for your support, douchebag.”
4.5, Laugh out loud, Stars!!
“There were three things I needed to be written on a t-shirt for every stranger who passed me in the street. Red was my nail color. Dry shampoo was the greatest invention since humans evolved. I was without a doubt, the biggest walking disaster since…well humans evolved.”
Catastrophe Queen is the latest laugh out loud romantic comedy from author Emma Hart. This book will have you laughing so hard, your sides will hurt. From OMG, I can’t believe that happened moments to a sweet, sweet slow burn, Catastrophe Queen hit all the marks and kept me begging for more.
From the moment I picked up Catastrophe Queen, I was hooked. Mallory was the hottest of hot messes. She seriously needed to be wrapped in bubble tape to prevent herself from getting hurt. She is a total klutz, but she totally owns it. Aside from being a klutz, Mallory is quirky and has a ton of sass. I loved seeing her interact with people and couldn’t wait to see how she would handle the situations she was presented with. And then we have Cameron….Cameron is too much for his own good. It should be a crime to have a boss that looks as good as he does. But, Cameron isn’t perfect. He has a little crazy in his life and quirks of his own. His assistants don’t stand a chance and usually get fired before they can make it through the first day. Together, these two were the perfect match. Yes, they were total opposites. Yes, Mallory was a hot mess. But, some how these two just got each other. I loved their banter and interactions. The slow burn of their romance was absolute perfection and their dates were totally entertaining. Mallory and Cameron certainly kept me on my toes and brought tears to my eyes from laughing so much. I just couldn’t get enough of their story.
Overall, Catastrophe Queen was a super fun and entertaining read. From a fun plot to crazy family members, to a walking disaster and sweet office romance; this book hit all the marks for me. I seriously haven’t laughed this much while reading in a long time. Mallory & Cameron’s story had me smirking, smiling and falling head over heels. If you’re looking for a book that is a fun read with some great romance and zero drama, then look no further, Catastrophe Queen is just the read you’ve been waiting for.
There is just something so validating when reading a story where the main character is a much of #LifeFail as you are. Mallory is basically Eris with her uncanny powers of dischord, but much like her she is also a Goddess. There is just something a little too depressing about being a grown af woman and bunking with her parents that are basically sex maniacs. To that end she vows to get her life back on track. Her new job is going to get that deluxe apartment on the sky and nothing will derail her this time… Then her boss makes it all the harder by being a total hardbody god himself. Talk about a reversal of fortunes… but Mallory is in no position to take advantage of his new development. Cameron has to be hands off if she ever wants to find her footing again, but there is something so tempting about the fall…
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
NO SPOILERS!
Catastrophe Queen has been Emma Hart’s funniest and most entertaining romantic comedy to date! I fell head over heels in love with the storyline and characters, as well as the author’s writing style and hilarious sense of humor.
Emma Hart had me laughing and smiling like a fool from beginning to end, and I absolutely loved and adored every moment of Cameron and Mallory’s story. From the fun, quirky, and lovable characters to the playful, witty, and hilarious banter, Catastrophe Queen was romantic comedy gold!
Catastrophe Queen was a fun, flirty, and downright hilarious standalone romantic comedy, and I would HIGHLY recommend it! Emma Hart’s romcoms always make me happy and put a smile on my face, and I can’t wait to devour her next one, The Roommate Agreement!
atastrophe Queen has got to be one of the funniest romantic comedies that I have read in a long while. I have to say that it was pretty embarrassing to be snorting and crying from laughing so hard while in public. Yes, I got some odd stares, but it was totally worth it! Mallory is indeed a walking catastrophe. She is klutzy, witty, down on her luck, and is the type of woman that I would want to be friends with. Even her best friend Jade who is full of energy, snark and sexual innuendos would be a fun friend. Cameron is the good looking, rich, single man who meets Mallory in the most unusual / embarrassing manner and then later discovers that she is his new PA. The two have that instant attraction. I enjoyed the witty banter between them and then the scenes where they are with each other’s families. Mallory’s family is like a train wreck. I don’t know if it is possible to keel over from laughing, but there were times it felt like I was going to when it was Mallory, her mother, her great aunt Grace, and her grandpa. I honestly don’t know how the author comes up with this stuff. Catastrophe Queen is the perfect book if you are looking for romance with a ton of humor and great characters – both main and secondary. The author is creative in her writing and keeps you entertained until the very end. I received this book for free.
Hart never fails to deliver an amazing story full of quirky characters that you can’t help but love. Catastrophe Queen had me laughing out loud and falling in love at the same time.
Cameron is sweet, sexy and had me swooning hard and falling for him from the start.
Mallory is totally the kind of girl I could be friends with. And her family is an absolute hoot. When Mallory lands a job as Cameron’s assistant she is sure she can keep things professional even if he is the hottest man she has ever seen.
Can Cameron and Mallory keep their relationship professional or will love have its way with them? I highly recommend you pick this one up to find out. You won’t be sorry I promise!
4 Stars
Catastrophe Queen is a fun, sweet, light hearted, slow burn romantic comedy.
Mallory is a fun, quirky and accident prone heroine. Despite the fact that she is a complete klutz, she’s quite sassy and snarky, and down to earth, which makes her all the more endearing.
Cameron might be a rich, sexy bachelor, but he’s also a gentleman. Oh and did I mention he is also Mallory’s new boss. Sweet, charming, intelligent and compassionate you can’t help but fall for this hero.
Despite the fact that an attraction is immediate, and their chemistry is palpable, their relationship is a slow burn, but still quite low on angst.
If you love a fun, humorous office romance look no further than Catastrophe Queen.
4.5 stars
Yes! Yes! Yes! Quirky and fun and cute, and swoon-worthy. Everything I love in a romantic comedy. Emma Hart proves that she is still the reigning queen of snark and funky characters that fit so cohesively together. I feel like these people would be my best friends in real like. If you knew one of my best friends then you would totally understand.
Mallory is awkward and so adorable that I don’t know how someone wouldn’t love her. She’s dying to get a job, save some money, and move out of her parents’ house. I mean, if you have to set an alarm to warn your parents that you’ll be home as to not find them going at it on the kitchen table then yes, you definitely need your own place. Thankfully, she finally gets a job only to find out that her boss is the guy who almost ran her over….did I mention that he saw her unmentionables? Yeah……
Cameron is so handsome and hunky and is single. Something has to be wrong with him, right? There’s no way someone this amazing could be interested in the hurricane that follows Mallory everywhere.
Aaah! I couldn’t put this story down. I was pretty sad when it ended. It’s a feel good story that kept me laughing and I wanted it to go on forever. Ms. Hart never disappoints. Can she be my best friend? Seriously….I picture bits and pieces of her in all of the snarky characters she creates. It never gets old!
This book was such a breathe of fresh air. I haven’t laughed as hard as I did while reading this book in a long time. This by far has been my favorite book of Emma Hart’s that I have read. It was a slow burn, with snark/sass added to the mix.
Mallory is a klutz of epic proportions. Even though this is true she is true to who she is and own all of her “faults”. Even though Mallory is a catastrophe waiting to happen she is full of sass that makes her the woman she is.
Cameron is just enough alpha to hold you over. He is also very compassionate, charming and very intelligent. When he first meets Mallory he is enough of a man to over look her klutzy habits and even finds them enduring.
The journey of these two is what all books should be made of. They show that no matter what that if you really want something and put your heart in it things will work out. I really enjoyed that this journey was a slow burn instead of just jumping right in, I believe that it really made the story all the better. Being that Cameron is Mallory’s boss she didn’t want to cross that line however, when things happen she begins to realize that maybe all good things are worth the risk. When this happens the chemistry between the two is off the charts.
This book was full of fun characters that keep you laughing and wanting to see what they say next. The best was Mallory’s family and the banter between them all had me rolling with laughter at certain times and really wishing that I could have been a fly on the wall (if they were real of course). Mallory’s best friend Jade was just as fun and I really hope to see more of her.
Overall again one of my favorite books of Emma’s and I will even go so far as saying it has been one of the best this year.
This was such a fun read! Mallory should be my best friend because we both have that klutz gene. I love Mallory. She’s fun, she’s quick-witted, she’s got her heart in the right place but her brain just isn’t always in the same place. Cameron is a business man, and he’s hot, who needs an assistant. Then enters Mallory. I love the pace this book takes and the slow burn of their romance. It was the light hearted read I didn’t know I needed! You’ll be laughing and grinning the whole way through. I highly recommend this read!
Mallory is wonderfully quirky, funny and sassy. Her world has spun off it’s axis and she finds herself without a job and living at home. It seems that if something will go wrong for someone, Mallory is typically the target. When she finally lands that job she desperately needs, she never expects the man she is working for to be the one who almost ran her over. Cameron is struck by the natural beauty of his new assistant and the sense that he has seen her before. I loved how this relationship grew and was truly enhanced by Hurricane Mallory. Cameron is a perfect counterpoint for her as he learns how to handle all of her antics. The slow burn was perfect and allowed me to enjoy all the crazy moments that Mallory delivers. Add to this her ‘no-filter’ family and well, I got a laugh out loud, fun, sexy romance to devour. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Can we just take a moment and bask in the greatness that is Emma Hart when it comes to romantic comedy?! She’s the only writer that can create a disaster of a heroine and make me fall in love with her instantly! Mallory Harper is a freaking hot mess and yet, I want to become her very best friend! She is ALL OF US at one point in our lives and it’s just refreshing to have a beautifully quirky character like her, achieve a happily ever after like this one. I usually fawn all over the hero in romance books, but when it comes to Emma Hart’s rom-coms, the heroine steals the show every single time! Hilarious and charming, Mallory and Cameron will steal your heart from the very start!

Hurricane Mallory is what Cameron calls her, but her story is not a natural disaster. It is a wonderfully romantic, laugh filled fun fest from Emma Hart. You will be page turning Catastrophe Queen with a smile on your lips and happiness in your heart.
Everyone has known someone like Mallory at some time in their life. The one person that always seems to have one misfortunate incident after another. We still love them even while we’re giggling at them (sometimes, it’s a total LOL) at their antics.
Cameron is a sweetie! Good looking, rich and easy going, his handling of the hot mess that is Mallory was off the charts adorable!
From their first meeting, Mallory and Cameron sparked my interest. This was a slow-burn though. Ms. Hart’s storyline would not be rushed into giving me what I wanted. And I’m happy that it didn’t. The timing on this book is exactly right. Drawing into the story a little more with each page turn, makes the ending so sweet and will give you a heart full of feels.
After her life literally implodes Mallory finds herself homeless, jobless, and moving back in with her very intimately active parents. She is hoping her stay with them will be short lived, because every time she opens the door she has to embrace herself for things she wishes she could un-see. She is hoping this new interview she has for an office assistant will pan out and she can begin to get back on her feet.
But her streak of bad luck strikes again when the laundry mishap unmentionables that she tried to hide in her pant leg, fall out as she is knocked down by her gorgeous new boss. Talk about embarrassing! She is hoping that little mishap will be forgotten, and they can keep things all business in the office, but that hope starts to falter when she walks in on him and sees things that have heart racing and her libido on fire! Starting things with him would be wrong on so many levels… but there is no way she can forget all the delectable things she saw!!
Catastrophe Queen is a sweet and sassy office romance tale that is certain reward readers with many laughs and swoons!! These two endearing and quirky characters lured me into their world almost instantly and had me in their corner awaiting the fireworks. They of course decided to take their sweet time about getting down to business, and tortured me at every turn, but it was SO worth the wait! It has been a while since I have settled down with a romantic comedy, and I have to admit this one did wonders for my heart and soul, it was heartwarming and humorous; a perfect mood lightener! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it holds a delightful story that will leave you beaming!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am leaving my unbiased and honest review.
Oh man. Mallory just might be my spirit animal. As someone who can trip over her own feet while walking, fall up the stairs… I feel her daily struggle on a very spiritual level! Her quirk and snark and life experience are totally relatable and equally hilarious.
The romance between her and her boss, Cameron, could be called lots of things, but slow burn kind of qualifies it best. They are a good match, though also an odd pair, and their meet cute situation (being that it is at work) is less than ideal. Watching them is honestly really fun and I guffawed out loud a number of times which is always a really exciting thing when reading.
If you want a sweet, funny romance with a whole cast of somewhat bonkers characters and a swoony book-boyfriend who somehow knows just how to handle his clumsy, disaster of an assistant / love interest, you’ll love this!
I have been reading Emma Hart for about a year now and I have to say, you can never go wrong with any of her books. They are fun, sexy, captivating and laugh out loud reads. In Catastrophe Queen, we met Mallory and well, the title says it all really. She seems to always be a walking hot mess. Through mishaps and misfortunes, she is now living back home and so not happy about it.
Mallory is a heroine you cannot help but like. She is a disaster waiting to happen, but so freaking endearing. Knowing she has to do what needs to be done to be able to move out on her own again, she sets out to get a job. Enter Cameron Reid. Her new hot and sexy boss. Even when he was all business, he could also be sweet and charming, even with Mallory around making life interesting at every turn!
I really enjoyed reading Catastrophe Queen. I found it to be sweet, charming and fun. I loved the slow burn between Mallory and Cameron. They had great banter and chemistry. This was truly a great read and I loved it! I could not stop reading it once I started!

I only discovered Emma Hart over the past year, and I have quickly fallen in love with her signature brand of humor. I go into each book expecting to laugh until I cry, and Catastrophe Queen didn’t disappoint.
Mallory is sweet, sassy, and adorably awkward. She’s a klutz, and a magnet for anything and everything that could go wrong in life. Knocking over coffee cups, tripping while walking across a room, (maybe?) setting an apartment on fire with a flat iron? Completely outrageous, and also things that happen to me on a daily basis! I see so much of myself in Mallory and it made me love her even more!
Cameron is hardworking, successful, and a total heartthrob. He also can’t seem to keep an assistant and is starting to realize he wants more than the bachelor life. When he meets his new assistant and realizes she’s the girl he almost ran over, his expectations are pretty low. But soon he’s the one stumbling around and can’t seem to get enough of her.
I adored these characters! Their chemistry is off the charts, banter witty and addicting. Their relationship had the perfect mix of slow burn and steaminess, the will they or won’t they aspect had me devouring the pages in one sitting. Mallory’s family added that extra oomph of comedic relief and Jade is the best friend everyone needs.
Catastrophe Queen is the epitome of rom-com. It’s a sweet, fun read with minimal drama that will keep you laughing and smiling throughout and I highly recommend it!
For accident prone Mallory, embarrassing herself in front of a hot guy whose car she accidentally walked in front of is just another day in her life… finding out he is her new boss and developing a crush on him, takes her to another level of being a catastrophe Queen!
This book was pretty damm perfect from start to finish, a true Rom-com that had me laughing and smiling with a serious case of ‘Happy feels’ from start to finish.
It’s was a wonderful light and fluffy read with a very ‘feel good vibe’ that did not disappoint.
I loved watching the attraction and romance develop between Mallory and Cameron. They were a brilliant example of opposites attract, their smouldering chemistry and the easy and natural banter between them was fantastic and I loved how ‘anti drama’ their relationship was.
A total pleasure to read and another fantastic addition by this author.
Mallory is my new favorite! As a klutz myself, I love how she’s written as this fun and endearing character. The book was full of the Emma Hart humor we love. I absolutely loved this book and it didn’t hurt that Cameron was yummy and funny himself. He just rolled with everything Hurricane Mallory and her family put out. He was such a keeper. This a a much read and fantastic RomCom by Emma Hart.
