One hot mess. One hot boss. One too many hot encounters…It’s not you. It’s me.No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.Everything I touch turns to crap. An apartment fire–that I swear I was not responsible for–means I’m living back at home with my sex-mad parents. Yay, me!Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant … is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.
Ahem.
On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.
Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.
Now, nothing is easy–except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do porn, it’s just not worth it.
Or is it?

Catastrophe Queen is a funny, sweet and sexy story that will suck you in
Catastrophe Queen by Emma Hart is simply the best!! Why you ask ? An office romance, one klutzy, amusing woman and a sexy, tender business man. Right then, I knew it was a pure winner for me. Mallory and Cameron were absolutely perfect together, and their slow burn romance was sheer perfection,well-written and written beautifully. Without giving any spoilers away, this story was just perfect from start to finish; a true rom-com that had me both laughing and smiling for i had a huge case of happy feels from beginning to end. Seriously, the heat, the chemistry, the feels, the wit, the heart, the humor, the connection, the EVERYTHING that this book is made this the top of my favorites by Emma Hart. Super excited for Emma’s next book.

With a book title like Catastrophe Queen, you know it has to be good. Emma Hart has delivered another fantastic read. This one is a laugh out loud funny but you also shake your head when you feel Mallory’s pain. We have all been that klutz at one point or another!!! A romantic comedy at it’s best.
One of the things I just loved about this book is that it’s clean. Clean in a sense that it’s fun. There’s no drama, suspense or fluff.
The story moves at such a great pace that I flew through the pages. From start to finish, you are laughing not only because of Mallory but the other characters in this story as well. I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!
When your name, Mallory, actually means unfortunate, life has a funny way of turning out. Mallory is the queen of catastrophe. When something can go wrong, it goes upside down, backward and turns in a circle wrong!!
New Job, new beginning right? Sure, until you walk in on your hot boss wearing nothing but a towel!!! What could go wrong? Everything and anything. But with Mallory’s history and him being her boss, well let’s just not touch that.
This story is just so enjoyable and loveable that you will fall in love with all its characters.
I’ve always thought that rom-coms weren’t my jam. All those movies? Pass.
But an Emma Hart funny romance novel? Sign me the fuck up.
Mallory is our self-professed Catastrophe Queen . She’s a klutz, just trying to get back on her feet. She first meets Cameron after a job interview – where she daydreams her way in front of a car and nearly gets hit. And that is just the beginning of their story.
Catastrophe Queen was hilarious, yet sweet and hopeful. The interactions between Mallory and Cameron were nearly perfect; a perfect progression from boss/employee to friends to lovers. And don’t get me started on the secondary characters – they all brought life to this story.
I couldn’t read CQ fast enough and I can’t wait to binge my way through Emma Hart’s entire catalog.
Emma Hart has delivered a quirky, heart-warming , sweet romance with Catastrophe Queen. There is no angst just a lovely slow build romance that draws you in and keeps you thoroughly entertained from beginning to end.
I loved the banter and wit in this book, the relationship between Mallory and Cameron is fun to watch develop. They are complete opposites but they gel so well together, The fact that Cameron embraces Mallory’s crazy relatives and the destruction she can leave in her wake is so sweet. The chemistry and attraction between them is off the charts.
I have to say I think my favourite dialogues were with Mallory’s crazy family. The dynamics and banter between them had me in stitches.
Another brilliant read from Emma Hart
What to say about this book. What a read. I was laughing, cringing and thinking this book is brilliant all at the same time. Well written and entertaining.
4.5
Mallory really is a catastrophe queen!! She is awkward and klutzy and is very relatable. Cameron really is so sweet and I love how he just thinks Mallory’s hurricane is adorable. I love their subtle flirting that just keeps building up. They are just stinkin cute together. They have so much fun and a lighthearted way to their story it just puts you in a better mood. Another fantastic Emma Hart rom com!
This was a good read! The writing flowed well, and I loved these characters! There isn’t really any drama in this story, besides all the crazy stuff that Mallory gets herself into. The banter between Cameron and Mallory was great! I laughed out loud several times. Mallory’s family was bananas! Her Aunt Grace and Grandpa were hilarious, even if they drove everyone else crazy. Cameron’s mom was actually really sweet, even if she came off cold at first. The ending was sweet, and they get their HEA.
Mallory’s grandpa was legit just everything, “…it wasn’t my fault his chicken ran in front of my car!” Grandpa took a long drag on his cigar and puffed it out in little circles. “The da*n creatures have a life of their own! Who keeps chickens in the city? We don’t live in bumeff country land.” Cameron’s compliments are just so unique, “yeah, but I also think babies are cute, and they **** and scream, so take that as you will.” Cameron can read his woman like a book, “…Cameron took the folder from me and put it on the island. “By the way, Mallory, my face is a few inches higher. As much as I’m sure my belly button would like to hear what you have to say.” I loved this book, I adored Mallory and Cameron
*4,5 stars*
If you need something light, fun and romantic to read; this one is definitely for you! In the beginning of the book it took me a bit to get into it but I don’t think I’ve laughed so much when reading in a really long time 🙂 Some scenes were so sarcastic and so fun to read, you couldn’t help but just fall into laughter and fall in love with the story of Mallory and Cameron. A must read!
Mallory can be a real klutz sometimes but has a heart of gold. She’s looking for a new job and after a great job interview, she’s hoping she’ll finally land the job so she can save money to move out of her parents house. When she almost gets run over, the situation gets even more embarrassing but she gets away unscatted. After she finally gets the call of the new job, she’ll be in for the surprise of a limetime as the person who almost ran her over is her new boss…. Cameron is looking for a new assistant and when he sees who the replacement is, he doesn’t recognise Mallory at first. But the more time they are spending together, the more they see that they have a lot in common and the attraction between them grows. Even though they have a working relationship that is working out better than they’ve imagined, the chemistry between them is undeniable and feelings grow each day. Will they find their way to each other or will work be an obstacle they can’t get passed?…
Mallory is a walking disaster. No matter what she does catastrophe follows her. Her recent mishap with her apartment burning down and losing her job has landed her living with her parents again. That alone would have her running but knowing her parents have a very active sex life is making her desperate. After a job interview she is almost run over by one of the sexiest guys she’s ever seen. It just figures she also splits her pants. Mallory thinks her luck is changing when she lands the job. What she doesn’t expect is the sexy driver to be her new boss. Can Mallory and Cameron keep their feelings hidden or will they finally crash together like inevitable storm?
I loved this book. Emma Hard doesn’t disappoint. Mallory is probably one of the most relatable characters I’ve read. She really is a walking disaster, but I think every woman has had her days where they aren’t paying attention and almost get run over…or is that just me? (shrug) Though Mallory is a disaster on two legs it’s her attraction to Cameron and his to her that really make you swoon. The attraction is palpable with each turn of the page. Add in Mallory’s bestie, Jade, her aunt and grandpa and I think Mallory gets her disaster tendencies pretty honestly. No one has a perfect family when you’re a walking catastrophe. If you are looking for a great light hearted read, look no further than this gem by Emma Hart.
I always know I can get a good laugh with an Emma Hart book and Catastrophe Queen certainly provided me with plenty of them. With Mallory, as the klutzy, accident-prone heroine and hot stud muffin Cameron as our hero, there really was only one thing to do.
Laugh. Cry tears of hilarity.
Mallory has a certain way about her, as does her attitude prone family, so living with her parents was a noisy, crazy and humorous experience, for the reader at least. Mallory make have had a different idea on how all that went down. She wants out of her mom and dad’s house after all, so do we really need to guess the answer to that?
But, like I said, she’s a klutz and accidents just can’t stop happening around her. Including on the day she first met her soon to be new boss. And it only got worse from there on out.
But, with some snarky, sexy banter and an attraction that won’t quit, these two will just have to find a way to be together.
It might seem like opposites attract but they shouldn’t act on it. But where would the fun be in that!
Yet another light-hearted, witty and winsome rom/com from the author who knows who to write them best. One-Click yours today.
Emma Hart has hit it out of the park once again with the hilarious, playful Catastrophe Queen! This heartwarming story of Mallory and her new boss, Cameron, was really cute! Their story was unique, charming, FULL of flirty banter and a slow burn that was truly enjoyable! Add in the fantastic family dynamic and you have a story that was I was just not able to put down! Each one of Emma’s books just leaves me with such a warm, happy feeling and Catastrophe Queen was no different! Truly an enjoyable book and a must read for any Emma Hart fan!
I absolutely love books that’s going to make smile and laugh throughout it. I knew going in that’s what I’d get with this because we have all that friend that can be Mallory or maybe it’s you. A little klutzy but with a heart of gold.
I freaking laughed at the interactions with her family, her Great Aunt, Grandpa, mom and dad. Like literally laugh out loud, cringe kind of thing. Honestly, just thinking about some of the situations brings a smile to my face.
There wasn’t any drama, just a light-hearted, laugh out loud, slow burn kind of book that does your heart good to read.
OMG, I loved this book. For my first Emma Hart story, I am a die heart for her books now. Catastrophe Queen is a must read book if you are looking for a light-hearted story with some great characters.
Mallory is a mess of a woman. If she can mess up something, she will. Spill coffee, trip over herself, anything that comes to her mind comes out of her mouth. It is humorous. However, she has been like this all her life, so everyone around her is used to it. She is such a beautiful girl and deserves a new lease on life, and to get out of her fun-loving parent’s house.
In comes Cameron, oh Cameron he is just so freaking awesome. Cameron and Mallory do not meet under the best of chances. However, when Mallory is hired as his new assistant neither of them wants to remember how they know each other. I have to say Cameron is the total opposite of Mallory, but he doesn’t hold it against her, which makes him the best of characters.
This is a laugh out loud story that will keep you reading until the very end. I loved this story and hoped we get a Jade story in the future!
Mallory Harper is hotter than a hot mess, in fact, those around her give her quite the wide berth, never knowing when Mallory’s next catastrophe will occur, and now that her life has basically imploded and she finds herself back at her parents’ house and in desperate need of a job, and while Mallory works to get her life back on track, continuing to stumble a time or two, she falls head over heels, literally and figuratively in lust with the man who just so happens to be her new boss.
The fact that Mallory is Cameron Reid’s personal assistant may help her professional career, but personally, it’s just one more awkward situation for her to endure because not only is Cameron Reid easy on the eyes, but he’s also a friendly, flirtatious, and easy going guy, which means that she’s finding it extremely difficult to not want to see her off-limits boss outside of the office, especially when it’s more than obvious the attraction is more than mutual.
Mallory represents all women in some respects because we all are prone to be out of our minds at times as well as a walking disaster full of Jekyll and Hyde emotions. It’s these qualities that allow readers to connect with her and understand her crazy antics and quirky demeanor.
Mallory and Cameron’s connection is a bit of a slow burn despite their mutual attraction, but this is the perfect approach for these two because there’s a lot on the line and both need to be ready for a relationship that can last and not be a point of contention due to the fact that they’re employee/employer.
Emma Hart’s trademark hilarity, steam, and swoon are all a part of Mallory and Cameron’s story, but, once again, what makes Catastrophe Queen romantic comedy gold is the one and only hot mess herself, Mallory Harper. Her playfulness, her wit, and her quirky musings and banter make this a laugh out loud read!
4 Poison Apples
No one… I repeat no one writes a vivid, awkward hot mess story the way Emma Hart does! She paints this picture in your minds-eye and you can just see all this hilarious, awkwardness happening. I tell ya, no one quite makes me laugh during a book like this woman does… Emma Hart, my RomCom Queen, I bow down to you! I so wish every single one of Emma Hart’s awkward and hilarious recent RomComs could be made into feature films! I see box office hits like “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” or “The Ugly Truth”! Seriously the film companies are missing out!
I pretty much always leave an Emma Hart feeling so much better about my insane family. No families could be more certifiable than the families in Hart’s books!! Emma Hart’s writing is perfectly on point t! She writes stories as if she’s watching life unfold in front of it and typing it up word for perfect word! Cameron and Mallory were vastly different but worked so well together. I really loved the slow burn to full of raging fire… these two were fantastic! And those secondary characters, well they occasionally stole the show! Emma Hart creates the best characters and all of these are quirky and just so fun!
I love stories that make me feel happy… and this book seriously gave me the weird creeper smile. I spent half of this book smiling and the other half laughing my ass off at all the antics from start to finish! Loved it hard!!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Catastrophe Queen is Emma Hart’s new laugh out loud, hot mess, surprisingly sweet romantic comedy. Emma always delivers the laughs, the lust, the fun, and the sexiness. Her writing is fantastic, her characters fun, flirty and hilarious. Mallory is a hot mess. A walking catastrophe. But she’s sexy, pretty, funny and just trying to get a job so she can move back out of her parents’ house. After an unfortunate incident with a car, a hot guy and a tragically lost cup of coffee, she get a job. But the hot guy? He’s her new boss. They are as different as two people can be, but they instantly click. Yes, they are mutually attracted to each other, but there’s more to it. They are comfortable, flirty and just genuinely like each other. Mallory isn’t like any woman Cameron has ever met. She’s smart, is really good at her job, but she’s flighty, trips over her own feet and is constantly spilling things. She’s just what he needs in his life. A ray of sunshine who amuses him and doesn’t take herself too seriously. She’s adorable and crazy and perfect for him. But, they can’t date. They are boss and assistant. Right? Well, after just one little taste of her, he wants more. Who cares if she works for him. He’s not letting her get away. It doesn’t take too much to convince Mallory. Cameron is a great guy. He’s nice, sweet, sexy, funny and kisses like a dream. She doesn’t care about his money or trying to impress him. They just fit together! I loved this story! Cameron is rich and handsome and wears suits, but he’s not buttoned up. He’s open, flirty, fun and has a great laugh. If anyone can make an office romance work, it’s these two! Overall, I loved it. Laughed so much, smiled the rest of the time and never once wanted to smack anyone! That’s a win win!
This novel was great! I loved Mallory and Cameron. Even though Cameron almost kills Mallory she does that to herself on a daily basis. She is such a klutz that if it were an Olympic sport she would have gotten a gold. But she needs to find a job in order to move out of her parent’s house and when she gets the job as an assistant at Cameron’s office she excited and then mortified when the hot man who almost ran her over will be her boss. She only hopes that he doesn’t remember her and her flamingo underwear.
This book had the sass and sarcasm that I’ve come to expect from Emma Hart’s romcoms and I split a gut laughing. Y’all won’t want to miss this one, especially if you need a good laugh!
