One hot mess. One hot boss. One too many hot encounters…It’s not you. It’s me.No, seriously. It is me. Not only does my name literally mean “unfortunate,” but that’s the story of my life.Everything I touch turns to crap. An apartment fire–that I swear I was not responsible for–means I’m living back at home with my sex-mad parents. Yay, me!Which is why I need my new job as personal assistant … is why I need my new job as personal assistant to Cameron Reid to get back on my feet. Three months in this job and I can move back out and, hopefully, remember to turn off my flat iron once in a while.
Ahem.
On paper, my job is easy. Make coffee. Book appointments. Keep everything in order.
Until I walk in on my boss, half-naked, wearing nothing but the kind of tiny white towel that dreams are made of.
Now, nothing is easy–except our mutual attraction. But he’s my boss, and you know what they say about mixing work and pleasure: unless you do porn, it’s just not worth it.
Or is it?

Emma Hart is laugh out loud funny. Such a fun read!
Emma Hart has done it once again!! Catastrophe Queen was a phenomenal read!
As soon as I heard about this novel, I instantly knew that I was going to fall in love with it. I mean, it is written by Emma. As per usual Emma Hart fashion, this novel had me feeling all the emotions, falling in love with the characters, and laughing my ass off over the quick witted dialogue, and hilarious moments.
Catastrophe Queen was made up of absolutely brilliant characters that immediately drew you into the story and their history. Not only that, but the characters are relatable. As I was reading, I could see myself in them. I would think to myself “hey, that’s me,” and that made me fall in love all the more!
I never know what to write when I begin typing up my reviews for Emma’s novels. I always sound like a crazy rambling person, because I can never justify my love for her books. Her novels deserve so much more than a 5 star rating. Her novels are the ones I will always be returning to for a reread.
5/5 Stars!
“In my not-so-humble and far-too-frequently-expressed opinion, I was a twenty-five-year-old grandma without the burden of grandchildren, and I was totally okay with that.”
Emma Hart with Catastrophe Queen brings her latest Romantic Comedy which left me laughing and rooting for the main leads.
Mallory, whose name literally means ‘unfortunate’ holds true to the meaning of her name. A complete klutz, trouble follows wherever she is. After her apartment burned down and her place of work closed, Mallory is now living with her parents and has to face the consequences of it, like walking in on them in embarrassing positions.
Mallory is on the hunt for a new job that would not only pay well but will also allow her to ber to be out of the house and help her with the house hunting as well.
Mallory was truly a joy to read about! I loved watching her interact with her family members and how the craziness and snarkiness runs in her family. I loved how she was tired of people one second and then answering the office phone with a chirppy attitude like all was fine in the world.
Cameron Reid is equally fun with his quirks and the crazy people in his family. Since his assistant left her job after being a mom, Cameron now goes through assistants as women go through clothes.
But what Cameron had not anticipated was Mallory, the girl whom he had almost hit with his car.
“I was crushing on Cameron Reid big time, and now I had to look him in the eye and hope I didn’t see his abs when I did so. Right. Now every time I thought of him it wouldn’t be of him in a gray suit. It would be half-naked, in front of the fridge, in a towel. I was so screwed.”
A beautiful hot mess of an assistant.
A little too good looking boss.
Cameron and Mallory made the perfect match of crazy and fun.
They complemented each other so well. The rapport and witty banter between them was one of the best!
The attraction between them was instant but what I really liked was how they took their time before jumping into any kind of relationship that went further than the boss and his assistant. They actually started out as employer/employee and moved to be friends and getting to know each other before they even decided to try for more.
Cameron and Mallory’s romance was a slow burn with sizzling chemistry that was present since the first time they crossed paths.
Catastrophe Queen is a character-driven story which is low on angst but high on snark, one-liners and engaging banter. All in all, I loved it and definitely recommend it.
PS. I am craving for an Emma Hart brand of the all-out romance and I hope we get one soon!
4 Stars!
I swear I have never met Emma Hart. I have no idea how she knows me but she wrote a book about me. Okay, so my name isn’t Mallory but it may as well be. As a certified klutz and well know ER visitor, I give this story my stamp of approval. I’m actually impressed that there weren’t more encounters with medical professionals. Obviously Mallory is just a junior hurricane.
This adorable story will have you smirking and even giggling a time or two. Aunt Grace is one to watch. By watch, I mean watch out for! This family is trouble. So hide your liquor and enjoy the disaster.

Such sweet, catastrophe filled, slow burn goodness, with a good dose of snark added into the mix, of course. This book had it all for me from start to finish and I really wish there was no “The End” in the end.
Mallory is a walking catastrophe waiting to happen. No lie. This woman just falls into these situations on the daily, but, regardless of her klutziness she is sassy, snarky and somehow turns all of that into a charming woman with a good heart. Cameron is a really good man. Sweet, compassionate, not klutzy, charming and intelligent and has just enough alpha in him that makes him all kinds of smexy.
Cameron and Mallory’s journey was all kinds of fun. From the not so sweet meet cute to them getting their HEA, it was truly sweet, slow burning goodness ~ and when I say slow burn, I mean slow burn. The attraction is instantaneous, but I like how they didn’t immediately cross the employer/employee line and instead built a solid relationship around it. Now, this one is sweet, but the chemistry between them is always simmering beneath the surface and that coupled with the fact that they truly like who the other had me rooting for them from start to finish.
Catastrophe Queen is a fun character driven read. This angst is low and snark is on point throughout. As for the supporting cast of characters, I loved them all! Mallory and Cameron’s family are unique and definitely made this read even more enjoyable for me. And then there is Jade…I’m crossing my toes that we’ll be getting more of her at some point because she was awesome!

This was a nice and fluffy fun read from Emma Hart. I’m not always sure how I feel about office romance, but this was done nicely. I really liked the banter between the two main characters, and they easily fell into a comfortable rhythm with each other.
There is angst or drama, this is just a really nice and easy read, and lots of fun. Some interesting secondary characters as well. Emma Hart has a way of writing books that are a breeze to read and leave you wanting to know the characters from the pages.
This was an easy read, sweet story about Hurricane Mallory. She is a Klutz, ditsy and just an overall hot mess. Living at home with her sex mad parents and visiting relatives, she needs to find a new job and falls into the lap of Cameron her new boss.
Cameron may be Mallory’s new boss, but he is also sexy, smart and rich as well as down to earth which is a unique combination. The dynamic of his family like Mallory’s had laugh out loud moments and he definitely wasn’t put off by Hurricane Mallory.
This was a laugh out loud read. Mallory is sassy, quirky and such a hot mess. She seems to just be a catastrophe. She has a really good banter with her boss Cameron and we watch as their relationship develops into something more serious. Cameron was a great character too and had no qualms about telling Mallory what he thought as well as riling her up when it was necessary. The fact that they came from different backgrounds was interesting and I especially like Cameron’s mum who liked to tell it like it is behind an air of grace
.
Emma Hart books are definitely a must read if you like the HEA, romantic comedy type genre with lots of personality.

This was such a fun read! I loved having a clumsy, catastrophe queen!! Mallory Harper was such a fun character. I swear this book made me laugh out loud so many times. Mallory was super relatable. She loved carbs, sweatpants, Netflix, etc. Her family was also very entertaining. She had parents who had to set alarms for when Mallory was coming home so she didn’t catch them in the act. Her grandfather and great aunt were also visiting for the majority of the book who were quite the duo! The great aunt would say literally anything at any moment….honestly, the same could be said for the grandfather.
Cameron Reid was our other main character and he also had relatives who were out there at times. I feel they bonded over their kooky family members lol. The plot of the story was Mallory went to work for Cameron at his real estate office. Mallory is quite the klutz and always seems to trip over thin air or just miss the coaster when setting down a cup of coffee.
Cameron can’t help but find Mallory adorable and Mallory can’t help noticing how handsome her boss is. This was a tortuous slow burn that had me aching for a simple handshake just so they would physically interact. So if slow burns are your thing, pick this up ASAP!
Overall, I loved watching these two interact with each other. You could feel their connection but they did their best to fight it since they worked together. It’s a super cute story where we follow each of Mallory’s mostly hilarious incidents. Cameron even gave her a super cute nickname that I can’t wait for you to read about!
**What is a de-café review** It is a quick snapshot review of a book. Nothing to in depth just the light basics of the story and I think it is worth reading. ****
Hot Damn Emma Hart you make me giggle out loud while listening/reading your books. I was looking for something fun and flirty to listen to while I do my daily walk on the treadmill. I wanted something easy to help pass the time while I walked to nowhere. Boy did you deliver.
Meet the Characters:
Mallory is one sassy, sarcastic and slightly klutzy.
Cameron- real estate broker, slightly a mama’s boy and not so klutzy
From Pink Flamingo underwear in the street at their Meet Cute to the contestant spilled coffee this book will keep you laughing. Throw in a sassy mouth Great Aunt and a grumpy grandpa just to keep you guessing what is next. Emma Hart has a way of writing her character that keeps you engaged completely. You will start this book and not be able to put it down. Do yourself a favor while reading this don’t drink a hot cup off coffee, than you would be like me and end up spraying it out in style.
This was exactly the book that I needed this week! It has been so stressful and I needed to laugh so freaking hard that I cried!! This book had characters that were opinionated, weird, unique, sweet and rich with a heart. I could relate so much to Mallory. I have done some of things she’s done, mostly the falling and dumping things on me. I’m a klutz and proud of it lol. She is a straight up honest and feisty character. She knows what she is and owns it. The only thing she probably don’t own is her crazy wacky relatives who are staying with her parents. There’s a lot of alcohol flowing in this book and before you say that’s not cool, it was definitely needed. These relatives just said whatever was on their minds and didn’t care what you thought of it. Mallory got time away from them and that was with her job. Working for Cameron Reid was interesting to say the least. She had to hide her attraction for him and simply do her job. She actually surprised me and did really well on it despite spilling coffee a lot and tripping on the stairs. I liked how we got her and Cameron’s point of views and got to spend time getting to know their families. These two are very low key and sweet together. They know to have fun and laugh. Mallory has bite and she isn’t afraid to use it. I loved every minute of this book and will definitely be reading it again and again!!!
I’ve read some of Hart’s books and so far this is my favourite. Also, I think it’s her best romcom to date and I promise you won’t regret giving Catastrophe Queen a go.
Mallory Harper aka Catastrophe Queen aka Hurricane Mallory is currently unemployed and is back living with her parents. She is a walking disaster and one morning when going for a job interview she was almost hit by a car. When she finally gets the job, she finds out that her new boss was the one who nearly killed her, not his fault though, Hurricane Mal takes the full credit for that mishap. This heroine is funny and sweet but a danger to herself.
Cameron Reid, is rich, runs a successful family business and is considered a good catch. He doesn’t have any bitter exes to worry about and is happy the way his life is on track with his goals until Mallory becomes his PA. Yes, she is a pretty package and he really likes her even when she is a klutz.
Told in dual points of view, this book is wickedly funny, I have never laughed as much as when I got to know these delightful characters. The author creates in Mallory the most adorable, likeable and witty heroine you could ever think of. I would love to be her best friend but maybe at a distance because she seems to be a magnet for disaster. I loved her smart mouth, her intelligence and compassion. And you can’t go wrong with Cameron either, he is sexy, has the patience of a saint and is kind. The secondary characters, especially Mallory’s family, makes you feel like you’re in crazy town but with happy vibes. The dialogue between the hero and heroine is a regular exchange of quick wit and innuendos. “By the way, Mallory, my face is a few inches higher. As much as I’m sure my belly button would like to hear what you have to say.”
Mal’s family members and their constant bickering/confrontation/discussion at the dinner table provide a generous serving of heavy sarcasm with a side dish of insults and jibes in every chapter of the book and I mustn’t forget to mention Jade, Mallory’s best friend/wing-woman/pimp. She is something else and more. When reading about these characters, I couldn’t help but giggle and smile all throughout the book. I loved the realistic timeline and that the author didn’t write unnecessary sex scenes, less is more I would say. Cameron and Mallory’s relationship burns hot and slow, they value the meaning of true romance albeit with sprained ankles, near-death experiences or accidental fires. I guarantee that this couple’s very entertaining and amusing love story will cure your January blues; you don’t want to miss this one! (Reviewed on behalf of KindleFriendsForever)

Well this was such a fun story to read! I finished reading with a big smile on my face!
I just loved the characters, Mallory was a breath of fresh air with her quirky ways and especially quirky family!
Cameron was the dream boat man! Oh boy you could literally feel the sizzling tension!!! Lol
The banter was flirtatious, witty and sometimes gave me such a laugh that I snorted!
It was a refreshing book that was easy to read and you come out of it feeling rather good!
I can highly recommend this entertaining story that will have you laughing at the antics of the characters! Well done to the author on writing such a great book!!
Catastrophe Queen is another hilarious and entertaining rom-com penned by the talented Emma Hart. Her sense of humor and easy flowing writing style has made all of her books so refreshing and fun to read.
I adored Mallory’s sass and wit. I can totally relate to her clumsiness and her being a klutz made her so adorable. Some of her disastrous events made me laugh so hard. Cameron was a true sweetheart. His ability to hold his own with Mallory and her eccentric family during their verbal exchanges was marvelous. Mallory and Cameron was a perfect match for each other. Their witty banter and clever quips were to die for. I was a little sad when I had to part with them at the end of the story.
I really enjoyed this funny and lighthearted office romance. If you are looking for something hilarious and sweet that leaves you with all the good feels, you won’t be disappointed with this one.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I loved this story! Emma has a way with her words that will have you cracking up, and wondering where she comes up with this stuff!
Klutzy Mallory just interviewed for a new job as a PA for a realty company in town. After the interview, she’s walking not paying attention and stumbles into the street where she almost gets hit by a car! Out steps probably the most hottest guy shes ever seen!
Cameron hasn’t been able to keep a PA since his cousin decided she wants to be a stay at home mom with her new baby. When Mallory comes in, he feels like he’s knows her from somewhere but can’t place where! From there, the sparks fly, the banter begins, and these two will have you swooning with their chemistry!
5 stars for this one!
Five catastrophe crowns!
Holy flamingos! This was my first venture into an Emma Hart book, and I was pleasantly surprised. I heard too many good things about her books that I couldn’t keep her in my TBR for so long because a dark heart like mine sometimes needs a light and funny read. Catastrophe Queen is a hilarious romantic comedy that you instantly love, it is that incredible! It jumped to one of my favourite reads. I absolutely love how wonderful this book made me feel. From the beginning to the end it teased me in the best way possible. It is funny, sexy and enjoyable as hell!
The story inside the pages of this book is adorably brilliant. It has the power to make you laugh a lot that your tummy hurt. The plot is a breath of fresh air, the pace is flawless and the main characters are incredibly cute with a personality that makes them special and perfect. Their slow-burn-romance will burn you in the right pace. So fun, so sweet, so unique, so terrific read.
Cameron and Mallory’s love story is a knockout, a magnificent disaster and a hurricane full heart-warming moments and a lot of possibilities. The star of this book is Mallory. I found myself pretty identified with her. She is sassy and her sense of humour is quirky as mine. Her attitude is bright and real. She is a little bit clumsy, well, a lot clumsy but adorable. I quite enjoyed her unpredictability, like you don’t really know what to expect about her. Losing her job and returning to her parents’ house will make her want to find a job desperately because living with her parents is not an “adult thing”.
Honestly, Mallory is a disaster personified in a sassy, snarky and charming woman with a good heart. She doesn’t find disaster. Disaster always finds her. And Mr. Dreamboat will be proof of her clumsiness. Her recent set of interviews offer the promise of an office job. The problem is her new boss because they had an unusual first start that involved flamingos and dirty laundry. Being attracted to him won’t help her and will consume her to the bones. Cameron will be her kryptonite.
Cameron is perfect book boyfriend material. He is a tall, handsome man with abs for days. He is charming and intelligent and has just enough alpha in him that makes him all kinds of hot and sexy. He is great guy and professional but his new assistant will blow his world. Their professional relationship will develop at the same time as their friendship. They balanced each other out wonderfully and I loved that he was a gentleman to her. Despite her klutz, Mallory mastered handling business and people. He noticed that she is dangerously attractive and adorable. Working with Mallory will be a refreshing experience.
Catastrophe Queen is a must read for Rom-Com lovers and any reader who enjoys hilarious / slow-burn / office / romances. The banter between Cameron and Mallory will steal you a lot of laughs. Prepare your heart to be conquered by this sweet and cute read.
Gah, I do enjoy an Emma Hart book. They’re always fun and exciting.
As soon as I seen the description for Catastrophe Queen I knew I had to read it. It’s has some of my favourite things in it. An office romance, a clumsy, funny woman and a handsome, caring business man. I knew it was going to be a winner for me.
The opening wasn’t a good start for poor clumsy Mallory, what starts off with embarrassing quickly turns in to more embarrassment and you just can’t help but feel for this woman and her mishaps
Cameron oh my god this man is the perfect kind of man. A man that seems unreal in the real world, that kind of man you fall in love with instantly. After witnessing Mallory’s first embarrassing moment he’s quite surprised to find out she’s his new assistant.
What could possibly go wrong for Mallory in a work placement? Oh dear, you’re gonna have to read to find out and let me tell you, there will be a lot of laughs included. This book is packed with humour.
Emma did an amazing job bringing these characters to life. I loved them both, they’re amazing. I can’t wait to see what this author brings to us in the future.
Oh man. This poor book. It took me far to long to read this, and it had nothing to do with the book. Crap went down in my personal (aka work) life and every time I wanted to read, and started to read something, a word, phrase…SOMETHING would make my mind jump to the ongoing situation and I’d be pulled right out of the book. And that completely sucks because the book didn’t deserve that. It was so good! It had me laughing, I was hooked but once things started happening outside the book…it just took away from the experience for me and that saddens me.
I really did love this book. I mean, how do you not get hooked by someone rocking their interview and then steeping out in front of a car, almost getting run over…seeing the most gorgeous man in the world and dropping dirty underwear (with flamingos on them) that had been stuck to your pants throughout the whole interview!? That’s not to mention that she also lied about the flamingo underwear AND spilled her coffee.
I loved watching both Mallory and Cameron realize who the other person was on her first day at work. And watching them dance around each other, thinking the other didn’t remember the flamingo underwear/getting run over part…priceless.
I did like that the characters spent time getting to know each other, sort of becoming friends (who honestly weren’t really friends because the attraction was there from the beginning and the whole they time weren’t “dating” after their first date…they were dating)…but I loved seeing their relationship develop.
I also loved that Mallory’s crazy family essentially gave her the training to deal with Cameron’s high profile/insanely demanding clients. She handled them with such ease, that it was a thing of beauty.
I will admit though, there were some times that I couldn’t believe some of the things Mallory’s mom said to her. At one point, just before Mallory & Cameron’s first date, something Mallory’s mom said literally had me choking on my soda. I had to laugh but at the same time, it was kind of a way harsh moment that, if it had been my mom, I’d have been hurt.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to revisiting it in the future when crap isn’t going on so I can properly enjoy it!
I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
One of the things I love most about Emma Hart’s books is her ability to make her characters so far from perfect but so hilariously flawed that you can’t help but love them. Mallory was so adorably catastrophic that Cameron wasn’t the only one smitten and enraptured from the beginning. It wasn’t long and I was completely engrossed with seeing which would build up faster between them, the sexual chemistry or the unfortunate mishaps that would befall Mallory along the way. Catastrophe Queen had me on the edge of my seat consumed with both heat and laughter. When an author can deliver equal doses of both to her readers, her books are a definite must read!
Mallory and her kooky, argumentative, comical family had me falling head over heels from the introduction. Who doesn’t love a heroine who is a hot mess with flamingo underwear, sexy as hell red lipstick, and so clumsy she can barely walk across the room without causing chaos. I loved being privy to all of her crazy thoughts, unexplainable feelings, and uncontrollable desires. She is most definitely a heroine worth experiencing, that will have you popping popcorn to enjoy the show and choking on your drink from beginning to end.
From the moment this debonaire business man was introduced with his GQ delicious looks and fascination with Mallory, I was hooked and he reeled me in with his charm and sexy moves. I couldn’t wait to see what was underneath that ever so form fitting suit that Cameron was wearing and in his heart and how he was going to seduce Mallory with all of that sexiness!
Emma Hart delivers another funny bone tickling, titillating story where you fall in love with the family as much as you do the starring couple. I highly recommend Catastrophe Queen for a romance that entertains readers and leaves us full of laughter and heated. Emma never falls short of the mark and her fictional characters are always unforgettable in the most amazing and unique ways. But don’t take my word for it, pick up Mallory and Cameron’s story and experience their awesomeness for yourself.
Oh my God, what an entertaining read! Emma Hart is one of those authors who never cease to amaze me. I love her stories the best when it comes to romantic comedies. Because Catastrophe Queen is one of the finest of this genre.
I totally read it in one sitting and I’m not even ashamed. Once I started it, I was unable to put it down. I had so much fun reading it!
I loved that our heroine wasn’t the perfect picture of the perfect heroine. Being clumsy myself, I could relate to her so much it’s not even funny! Team Hurricane Mallory till I die! And Cameron! Ladies, this man is swoon-worthy at a very high level! I had so much fun with them! And with Mallory’s family! Gosh, they’re nuts. And Cordelia is my bestie, that’s for sure.
If you’re looking for a fun and enjoyable read to pass your time, Catastrophe Queen is absolutely for you!
4.5 “Hurricane” Stars
I ADORE Emma Hart’s quirky humor and style of writing. So so many snorting, laugh out loud moments all throughout reading this book. Honestly, I felt like Mallory could have been my own daughter lol. She seriously can’t walk and chew gum at the same time. I loved everything about this story. From Mallory and Cameron to her BFF, Jade, and even her hilarious family. The humor just doesn’t stop and it was wonderful. Mallory and Cameron had such great chemistry, and the slow burn was killing me. I was ready for them to do the deed! If you’re a fan of Rom Com, then #oneclick this one today. Classic Emma Hart!
