Locked in the Catacombs where only I may see and touch her, where no other will know my queen exists, she suffers beautifully—each dusk waking with no memory of the night before.
No recollection of the passions we have shared or the torments I have visited upon her.
No idea how I intend to ravish the very blood from her veins until she calls out my name in bliss.
CATACOMBS is a tale of pure horror. And though there is only darkness in these pages, Pearl’s HEA can be embraced in THE RELIC.

Oh, the devil is in the details…4.5 darkest of dark stars for Catacombs. Catacombs is a very short and sinisterly dark story by Addison Cain and just in time for some seriously creepy Halloween reading. This short is distributing AF and you have been warned.
Addison Cain is the queen of darkness and not just any ol’ kind of darkness, I’m talking nightmare inducing darkness that leaves a creepy, crawly feeling all over your skin. She pushes the boundaries with her stories and Catacombs takes you to another level of that darkness. So abandon all hope ye’ who enters the Catacombs and be ready to embrace the darkness!
This was not heaven and she was not to be judged by God.
Pearl enjoyed living in NYC, the Roaring Twenties and the big city helped her hide and blend in. She kept to herself and kept her head down so her secret would not be discovered. Until one night she defended herself from a rapist and her small world fell apart.
Captured and wounded Pearl discovers she isn’t the only one who shares her uniqueness. Sentenced to imprisonment, sealed in and underground, nobody remembers her or looks for her. With only her jailor knowing where Pearl is and her torture begins… and begins… and begins.
Imagine if 50 First Dates and Groundhogs Day were mixed with Nosferatu and that Addison Cain wrote the script. That’s how messed up this beautiful, dark, twisted and terrifying novella is. If you are looking for something to give you nightmares and tingles ‘Catacombs’ is perfect to read alone and in the dark of the night.
Cigarette girl Pearl is kidnapped and imprisoned in a cell where she is visited by the handsome Darius who calls her his beloved treasure. After Darius is done using Pearl and doing unspeakable things to her he strips away her memory. Pearl finds a journal she’s been keeping during her captivity and wonders why some of the pages are missing. Who is Darius, and will he ever set Pearl free?
Catacombs is a dark, brutal and twisted story that’s not for the faint of heart
The main character’s name is Pearl. The Master is obsessed with her.And every night Pearl knows what hell is about. When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Addison Cain is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Taking us back to a time when the girls wore fringed dresses and wore cigarette boxes to earn two dollars which was enough for rent. Pearl our lovely heroine is a transplant to New York City, and even though it reeked she loved it because no one cared overmuch about their neighbors and she could stay hidden.
Unfortunately for Pearl, one horrible night put all her hard work to hide down the drain, and with blood beneath her fingers and in her stomach, the City hidden dwellers are on the hunt for her.
Caught and brought before the Vampire ruler, her life is forever changed as she is sentenced to solitary confinement. Her lack of knowledge not defence enough for mercy. With visits from Darius that messes with her head and confuses her senses of time, his brand of torture is unlike any other. Night after night, he awaits her confession in candle light until the light becomes dark.
Captive and unequal, the author writes a novella that plunges her readers into the confused mind of Pearl, with only glimpses of Darius. Don’t let that pretty over fool you, inside these pages there is no redemption, and only darkness survives.
This is so different from Addison Cain’s other work but when she does horror she does it really really well. This book is dark and twisted and unlike anything you have read before. Addison takes you into a dark depraved world. What happens when you meet the devil? Read this story to find out.
This dark depraved tale is just as horrifying amazing the second time around. This was previously published as part of When the Dark Wins. And as the title suggest, there are no happy ending. If you have read anything of Addison Cain, you already know, not to follow her down into the darkness. It sometimes amazes me how well Addison Cain can make an evil grotesque villain into an enticing character. Even when he is eating body parts, it’s hot and arousing. It just show that it’s the really terrible insides that makes a man. So if your into evil villains with an appetite for bloody uterus, still at body temperature come an meet Darius. But at your own risk!
WOW! holy crap this was pure brilliance! absolutely captivating from beginning to end. intricate tale that you cannot help but imagine it in your mind as if it were a movie. gripping, suspenseful, dark and full of pain but at the same time, with a heat that gets you hot and bothered. pieces of detail you would need to read a second time to understand. secret messages to make even better sense of things, hidding plots within plots. my mind was totally blown away reading this storyline. amazing freaking plot!
Addison Cain is truly a Mistress of Darkness! As usual with Ms. Cain’s work, this book did not go the way I expected, but not in a bad way! If you love dark reads, this book is great, but if you need an HEA or HFN, this would not be the book for you. As for me, it made my dark little soul sing.
The story takes place in the Roaring Twenties. Pearl may seem just another young girl, but she is different.
One day she is taken. Time and memories no longer have any meaning. Everything Pearl feels and experiences, is it real or just a dream? No not a dream, a nightmare.
As a reader you will ask yourself the same question as Pearl. It is very sad story filled with confusion and despair.
I didn’t want the story to end. I wanted more.
It’s good to shake it up once in a while. I can’t have all my stories ending so neatly as real life rarely wraps up with a Happily Ever After or on a different satisfying note. I thought I wanted the dark, but ended up feeling the type of dirty only a scalding or freezing shower would help with when it came to reading about Pearl’s delightful proclivities. And for some I was blindsided by the emotional attachment that followed, and the complete, utter devastation at the end. But man, what a journey! Shellshocked and thoroughly piqued, Addison Cain is really enchanting with her haunting storytelling style. Moral ambiguity is best for this kind of tale.
Unbelievable! Or really I should say just another example of Addison’s amazing talent. This book sank claws into my soul and consumed me alive. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I read this story other than a delicious ride. What I got was emotional upheaval that prompted a theoretical discussion with my husband that has now intrigued him enough as a decidedly staunch non-reader to take a chance on a new author. Wow. Just… Wow. Don’t expect a HEA from this book. Do expect this to prompt you to read more of Addison’s work. You won’t be disappointed.
What a fantastic shocker of a read from Addison, this little novella is a monstrosity of the finest degree – there’s nothing of romance in here, its well and truly a horror read!!
Pearl is a little different from the rest of us, and she knows it, she tries to keep low profile and blend in, but certain people will always try and take advantage, and that’s when the blood starts to flow as she defends herself from a potential rapist.
She is found and mutilated by what she thought were angels, but were just the opposite, as they dragged her to their Master for judgement and punishment. The Master becomes obsessed with her and takes her for his own amusement and delight. She ends up reliving the same night, again and again as he wipes her memories and she has to relive the night again, its her living hell.
The Catacombs are not a place you would ever like to visit!!! But what a story, oh my word was I engrossed in this!! Deliciously dark, brutal, sinister, vile, hideous – a shocker of a read and just up my street, I absolutely loved it, I only wish it was a bit longer as I would’ve loved more of it, the sick person that I am!! Read if you dare, its well worth it!!!
This by far is the darkest book of Addison Cain’s dark library. To move through life with so many questions unanswered is awful. Pearl and Darius are locked in a battle royal, that nobody could win. To read this book you need to be able distance yourself from the story. It is a DARK story!
Have you ever had one of those moments where you’re watching a bloody horror and you desperately want to close your eyes but you just CAN’T !!! It’s the need to know what really happens to that poor-poor girl. This is exactly like that. Ms. Addison Cain will make you feel ALL the tingles that come with a great love story but what you don’t realize is that she’s stabbed you right thru the heart with her pen. But you still crave reading her words to the point you read everything she’s written. Pearl is a young woman who can’t believe she’s a vampire because God is all she’s ever known. But things they are a changin’. Satan … I mean Darius … has now found her and won’t let her go – EVER. But what is it about him that makes her renounce not only her faith, but her whole being?? Wouldn’t you really like to know how this nightmare ends?? You can’t just look thru your fingers for this one, read it but hurry, you never know what’s lurking behind you. whahaha …
Are you afraid of the dark? My treasure, the dark is nothing to be feared; but what’s in the dark… yeah, that should scare you. Monsters hide in these shadows.
A desperate and tragic mistake plunges Pearl into a darkness so horrifying that any hint of light is a illusion. Her God, nothing more than a fantasy gives way to the Devil. He’s as real as the blackness she’s submerged in.
One of Addison Cain’s most twisted tales yet, Catacombs is a tantalizing walk into the horrific.
So gut wrenchingly DARK! Yet so good! I devoured this book in one sitting. My emotions were all over the place for this one. Even though this book doesn’t have a HEA it was SO GOOD.
But a warning to the potential reader. This is dark! Like beyond dark. And as previously stated, there is no happily ever after. So know going in that if you don’t like dark or have to have a HEA, do not read this one. But if you love a truly great horror. Totally pick this one up!
Oh man talk about a crazy late night read! I’m usually not phased by horror stories but Addison Cain shook me up with this one! I did not expect to like it but it definitely surprised me with its dark sensuality. It perfectly demonstrated Cain’s own unique (creepy?) writing style that is uniquely hers. I applaud her ability to bring unconventional stories to the table and smash your delicate reading sensibilities haha. I recommend this book if you’re ready to change things up and need a break from all the lovie dovie romances.
This short story is tragic since the beginning.
The life of Pearl is not easy, she has suffer mental and physical abuse her entire live. She doesn’t know what is wrong with her. But she is fighting to survive and find a way to pass her life.
She is content with her mini apartment and her tiny window.
One night in her way home a man try to rape her and she defends her self the only way she knows and that simple act condemned her.
She didn’t know that are people like her, she thought she was ill. When the found her is horrible.
They take her to the Master of the city for the crime she committed.
And that is when she knows what hell is.
The Master is obsessed with her and traps her for his own. She is his “treasure”
And night after night she knows what hell is about.
The things she has to live are not for the faint of heart. My heart was breaking for her.
The catacombs is hell and a place you never want to go.
This story was dark, gruesome, and vaguely traumatizing. It was *very* well written and I enjoyed it, but it lacked a little of that certain Cain Spark for me. Maybe it was just me and my penchant for dark things, but I figured out the ending pretty quickly and the proverbial nail was hammered into the coffin with the character’s dialogue about halfway through. It’s difficult for me to stay excited for a story when I’ve figured out the ending, and especially with Cain’s previous affinity to flip everything on its head. The more gruesome parts felt a little gratuitous for me, though I will definitely give points for creativity! I’m unsure of how to pinpoint what was really missing for me without giving away spoilers, but if you enjoy fast paced, dark, and downright horrifying (in a good way!) reads, then this is definitely for you!
