“Ancient cravings twist innocence into depravity when the Devil grows infatuated with virginal Pearl. Binge-read this masterpiece with the lights on.” – Myra Danvers, USA Today bestselling author I am the devil, and I am in love. Possessing the power to keep Pearl from the light, I shall keep my treasure to myself for all eternity. Locked in the Catacombs where only I may see and touch her, … eternity.
Locked in the Catacombs where only I may see and touch her, where no other will know my queen exists, she suffers beautifully—each dusk waking with no memory of the night before.
No recollection of the passions we have shared or the torments I have visited upon her.
No idea how I intend to ravish the very blood from her veins until she calls out my name in bliss.
CATACOMBS is a tale of pure horror. And though there is only darkness in these pages, Pearl’s HEA can be embraced in THE RELIC.

WOW, what did I just read……DARK!! Addison Cain has an imagination that is so far out there, there is no returning!! I don’t even know where to start with this book, but it’s good, if you really, really love dark “dark”!!!!!
I can’t get into the story without spoilers, so I will be vague. To start off, this story is so hot, but so twisted. Pearl is alone and struggling to survive. After the death of an attacker, she is taken by strange men deep under the city. There in the catacombs, she will experience pain, pleasure, and desolation at the hands of a horrible man. The author is crazy, and I loved every minute of it. The story is short, but in such a small span, she got me hooked. I wanted to go deeper into the dark world that the main character, Pearl, was experiencing. I’ve read it 3 times and I can’t stop thinking about it. What happens next, will it end there, and what if? I’m really hoping Addison makes this a full length book, and keeps the tone. Just a letting others know, this is not a happy story. It is Dark, and Twisted, and full of triggers. So no complaining, you were warned.
Wow! This was different from anything else I’ve read. I really liked it. I have so many questions and want more to the story even though it’s a great ending the way it is. I want to know so much more about these characters. It really pulled me in. I highly recommend.
This book had the angel on my one shoulder curled into a ball rocking himself. And the devil on my other licking his lips in anticipation of the next page turn. This story delivers all the darkness, blood, and debauchery that you may say you don’t want, but know deep in that dark place you don’t want to admit exists…you really do…
A super dark and twisty read, Addison brings the reader through helplessness, hope and discovery before leaving you with only misery and despair. No joy, no redemption, no HEA, Addison has done her best to create a story that the most darkest of dark readers will celebrate. I loved reading Darius and Pearl, and the story that is their relationship.
Be warned…Catacombs by Addison Cain…it is dark. I loved Pearl…she’s a quiet girl that doesn’t know exactly what she is, so she tries to hide & stay unnoticed. We don’t see a lot of her backstory, but what we do know is that she’s had a hard life of abuse on top of abuse. After killing a man in self-defense, she comes to the attention of Darius…we don’t know exactly what he is other than just a devil. I did NOT like Darius at all…he’s needlessly cruel to sweet Pearl to a horrifying extent. I don’t know if this ends on a cliffhanger…with the thought that Cain will eventually further develop the story…but at the moment, the story’s ending just breaks my heart & left me a lil confused about what happened to Darius (I don’t think I could see AC being able to redeem this character at all if she expands this story)… I’d recommend this if you like more dark than romance to your story…
Each morning (or is it night?) is a new life. No memories, no pain for our precious Pearl. Yet even with the lack of memories, she can feel the wrongness, the perverse darkness each time he sets his eyes upon her.
Each new rising is spent torn between crying out for a god that has forgotten her or giving in to the one who now torments her
Darius has ensured that she would never suffer again (except at his hands), he takes care of his treasure -ensures that she is polished and ready to be “admired” anew each awakening
This is erotic horror done right – No HEA – No hope – Just the cold darkness of knowing there is no way out

Hero: He’s a heartless, cruel Demon who sees this poor girl and decides she’s his. While there is no love and no HEA you can tell he does things for her that is special.
Heroine: Pearl is a sweet young confused girl who doesn’t know what she is but you can feel is trying to be good. She’s just unlucky enough to find herself in this situation with a Demon who wants her. She’s not your everyday run of the mill girl next door and the things she endures is twisted.
Best part of the book: For me the best part of the book was how twisted it was. It was NOT another romance book with cliffhanger/HEA it was a mind twisting what did I just read book.
Worst part of the book: I wouldn’t say the story itself lacks or has a bad part I just wish I had more answers in the book. I know it’s a short story but I have so many questions now that I’m not sure if the main characters were the only one who were tortured here.
This book is dark, dark, dark…
Cain is as usual a total standout. Poor Pearl. Her life has been a total misery and seeing her suffer at the hand of the “master” was totally mindblowing and bloodcurdling. Cain has mastered darkness in her writings but I can’t but hope that Cain will consider a sequel for Pearl with perhaps a light at the end of the catacombs so to speak.
Pearl’s vulnerability and self-flagellation for her “condition” made me both protective and absolutely raging mad at the sad state her life limped through. The many abuses she has suffered the entirety of her life. Then on top of it all to be caught when she fights back and be punished like THAT. Again…need a sequel…NEED IT. And while I get that this is supposed to be dark I hope more will be to come…And maybe THIS time Pearl could be ripping up a certain person’s tender bits!
This is a very well written, very creative short story. I kept looking for just a little bit of light for poor Pearl, but found myself plunged deeper and deeper into the dark. It’s definitely dark, so heed the warnings, if dark themes aren’t for you, stay away. If you do like dark stories, I definitely recommend it.
Lord this is why Cain is the queen of dark, twisted romance! As I read this story I hoping for some kinda twisted HEA, but that’s not good enough for this story. No, it had to have a ending that keeps you up at night. I still wondering if that could really happene!?
A Happy Twisted ACR review freely given.
This is not one of those books that has a happy ending, so if you need that then pass this one by. Since I don’t need a HEA to enjoy a book, and sometime I prefer my dark reads to be just that, I absolutely loved this one. It fit those requirements perfectly. It’s dark and gritty from beginning to end. Pearl isn’t your typical vampire. In fact, she doesn’t know anything about vampires. She never put a name to what’s wrong with her, other than to say she’s sick. Darius, on the other hand is evil incarnate, literally. He’s the Devil in his most sexy guise, but that’s only on the outside. Don’t look too deep beneath the surface because you won’t like what you see. I might need to sleep with a light on after reading this one.
Wow…this was intense and so very dark. Basically sums up what we all love about Addison Cain in a nut shell. Although, I’m pretty sure there is no redemption coming for this story but it will leave you wanting more!
I love dark stories. Often, the darker the better for me. There’s something delicious about reading about the depravity of a situation…from the safety of my Kindle. I don’t mind when things don’t turn out. I can live with no HEA. I even like it when the bad guys win. Okay, I like that a lot.
That said.
Addison Cain’s “Catacombs” will instantly have you wishing for a happily ever after even though you know ahead of time that it won’t happen. You’ll want it desperately each and every time that Pearl meets Darius and each and every time, Addison Cain makes you forget that’s your wish. And around and around we will go until….
This is a book that has made me believe that there is a worse place than hell. Throughout reading it I fell as hopeless and angry as the main character. There was a palpable fear in every single page that left you holding your breath at every turn (so much so that I almost forgot how to breathe). It also made you wonder if it you are better off remembering your hell or forgetting about it every time.
Catacombs is not a book for the faint of heart. What Ms. Cain gives you is a world where an obsession turns deadly. Ms. Cain pushes her main character, Pearl, to new depths of darkness where no light can touch her. Will Pearl survive a vampires obsession? Can she find her way out of the darkness?
Dark and depraved, this is no sparkly vampire story. It is not romantic. There is no “bad boy with a heart of gold” waiting to swoop in and lift our heroine from despair to delight. No. Instead, Addison leads the reader into some of the darkest, dankest corners of our imagination and then turns out the light, leaving us to shiver in the dark wondering how we ended up here.
There is a slightly disjointed feel to the writing style in this story that lends to the overall feeling of confusion and sense of being lost our heroine experiences each time she wakes. Poor Pearl is one of the saddest characters I have ever met. I’m afraid she and Darius will be haunting my dreams for some time to come.
Looking for a dark story, well look no further this is as dark as it can get. Addison has made something dark look so beautiful. But only if you enjoy a dark romance can you enjoy this book, so be warned.
This book was everything I have come to love about Addison Cain. This book is dark, twisted and mind blowing and takes you on the most incredible of tales. I loved the setting and my heart broke for Pearl and all her circumstances This was a delicious mix of dark and depravity and no happy ever
Catacombs by Addison Cain is a dark story that will haunt you. It is a story about a young woman named Pearl that tries so hard to survive. She doesn’t want to accept her true reality. Darius and their twisted encounters really destroy her again and again. It is very well written and you really feel you have crawled into her soul.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy.
