From New York Times bestselling author Joanne DeMaio comes a novel that knocks on a shabby cottage door, opening to an unforgettable summer.Every cottage tells a story. It’s a saying Jason Barlow returns to as an architect designing New England beach homes. The latest cottage story he hopes to tell rises from the Stony Point sand: the last-standing cottage on the beach. It’s the sole … It’s the sole survivor–something Jason can relate to–as surrounding cottages washed out to sea in long-ago hurricanes.
The owners aren’t budging, though, keeping Jason’s proposed renovation at bay. But with some help from the beach friends, the tide turns for Jason’s new venture. Problem is, that weathered cottage on the beach? It holds secrets darker than its gray seaworn shingles. And secrets don’t stay buried in this little Connecticut beach town; they wash ashore or get dug up from the sand.
Castaway Cottage reunites the beloved Stony Point crew for a surprising summer by the sea, one that will leave you wanting more with the friends by the shore.

Oh Joanne, I absolutely love this book! Your books just get better and better with each book and I can’t put them down! They are so full of love and laughter. I really didn’t want this one to end. If you have not read any of Joanne’s books you really are missing out and should get busy because you will love them too! Thanks Joanne!
Dollycas’s Thoughts
We are back in Stony Point and Jason Barlow is trying to nail down his next project for his new cable show. The cottage he has picked out has quite a history, much more than he knew about the place. Now he just needs to get the owners to agree to his plans. Also, a typo on a marriage certificate turns one marriage topsy-turvy. Would a vow renewal ceremony get things back to normal?
This saga continues to draw me in with each new installment. We follow these characters through good times and bad. Through laughter and tears, their lives continue, at times jarring their friendships, and sometimes strengthening them. So much has happened over the course of these stories.
Again Elsa shines as she tries to mother the whole crew through everything. With her inn not yet open she has time to take on another event all while doing her best to help everyone and keep their lives on an even keel. I am anxious for the inn to open, but I don’t know how she is going to be able to handle it all even with Celia’s help.
This cast of characters has to live in one of the most beautiful locations I could ever imagine. I am so envious of the view they see each and every day when they wake up, go through their days and then settle in for the night. Joanne DeMaio’s words have painted every part of this place so clearly, my imagination doesn’t even have to work to virtually take me there. The sea, the sky, the cottages, the diner, the flowers, just everything is crystal clear.
So much is left up in the air as this installment concludes I can hardly wait for the next book to be released. It will be pure joy to return to Stony Point. My virtual bags are already packed.
I just love Joanne’s stories and I especially love the ones set in Stony Point. This is a place that is full of sun, beaches, wonderful friends, and great stories. It’s such a joy to visit there again and catch up with all the warm and friendly people who live in this community. I’ve come to know them so well that I feel like I am visiting old friends whenever Joanne takes me back there.
The story in Castaway Cottage is focused on the lonely cottage on the beach, a place that has a tale all it’s own. As the cottage reveals it’s past, the residents of Stony Point go on with their lives and discover how closely their lives intertwine with the cottage and it’s history.
The ending definitely left me wanting more and I can’t wait to see how the lives of the residents—my friends—turn out and where life is going to take them next.
Love this beach series!!
Castaway Cottage by Joanne DeMaio
Have read the other books in this series so when I got my review copy I cleared my mind and sat down to start in on it. forget dinner, pizza worked and dishes and laundry can wait another day.
Starts out with Kyle and Lauren and they are finding the source of the problem on the walls after removing wallpaper. Kyle is sorting through boxes and finds their marriage certificate from almost 10 years when he discovers his name is spelled wrong.
He then tells himself he is not married at all and goes to the JP and judge to find out the real solution-they can have a redo of the day.
All their friends gather around the pitch in among the other problems they face. Each has their own set of troubles and work things but they are always there for one another.
Love the treasures I found in this book=new words and what they mean, Italian phrases, how the book got it’s title, and so much more.
At times I was laughing out loud, tears running down my face, at other times I was whimpering because I knew they pain they were going through as I had been through it myself.
Without friends there they would never make it. Love lessons we learn about the sea and the secrets that have stayed hidden away for decades as they come to light.
Thought this was the best book in this series but you can read it as a stand alone and you are brought up to date with whats going on with everyone and their past-just not a lot of the details.
Can’t wait for the next to find out how they mend things to make it right again. Book is just so descriptive I felt as if I was the one there walking the driftline-didn’t know that’s what it was called.
Beach scenes are described so beautifully and knowing where to find beach bling that is free is just priceless.
Author bio and other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
