A dreamer. An artist. A woodcarver. For Cas, raised with seven brothers by the indomitable Miss Ethel, he reveled in being able to be himself. And when Bianca moved into the house across the street, he had no idea his childhood friend would eventually become a young love, only to be taken away.Years later, both on their own, Cas and Bianca discover that sometimes miracles can repeat themselves … can repeat themselves and second chances are possible.
A Heroes at Heart novel. These men, raised in the loving foster home by the benevolent Miss Ethel, discovered there lies a hero in all of us. Based loosely on the fairy tale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Scenes and language similar to what you would find in an R-rated movie.

Another emotional story that tugged at my heart, even had it almost stop a couple of times not quite sure where it was heading All the books in this series are very realistic, each with their own very real circumstances, every single character is a bit different but in many ways can be compared in some way to their favourite fairy story, the good and the bad. For all the boys grown into men and the women they each fall in love with one Lady stands out from all and that’s Miss Ethel. I was scared I must admit that the series would possibly end with everyone having to say goodbye. This is family, they may not have started as blood brothers apart from the twins but the bond between all and the obstacles all have past and survived have made them far stronger, I love this family. I’m sure their are many readers who like myself can identify with various events in this series, I know for me several have brought memories up, the stepmother, the loss of one or both parents. Bullying, being the odd person out and a bit different and of course the love of books to name just a few. Each of these has touched my heart and since I actually started with the last book in the series first I can say WOW! Thank you to Maryann Jordan for such an emotional journey.
Such a wonderful conclusion to my favorite series so far by this author. Very well done!
This is book 8 in the series and it features Cas and Bianca. This story is a heartwarming tale of a modern day version of Snow White. Cas is the last brother to find his HEA. Even though Bianca lived with her own father, she spent four years hanging out with Miss Ethel, Cas and what she named the seven giants. Sadly, Bianca moved away and did not see Cas for 12 years. Though their reunion is quick, it is not without its issues. I laughed and I cried. This story REALLY brought out the emotions in its readers. Get your tissue box ready!
This is such a perfect way to end the series. I’m sad to see it end and I’m so glad I got to read it. I wish all the lost kids out there could have their very own Miss Ethel. I adored her from the moment I met her. This is some of the most amazing writing from such a talented author. BRILLIANT and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED series that is so emotional and truly describes, over and over and in many different ways, what family really is.
This is Ethel’s youngest son’s story. Quite possibly the best of the series.
This is the final book in the series. Bittersweet to have it come to an end. Cas and Bianca have a beautiful love story starting when they were children. A wonderful finale for Miss Ethel and her family. Loved them all!!!!
Cas and Bianca’s tale brings an impressive read as the final book in the Heroes of heart series. This author crafts engaging worlds and characters that the reader can sink into with chuckles, suspense and even a few tears. Totally recommend this book and the whole series.
This is part of the Heroes At Heart Series by Maryann Jordan. Cas is one of Miss Ethel’s boys It’s loosely based on the fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This is Cas and Bianca’s story and their second chance at love. As usual Maryann Jordan does a wonderful job with her characters. She brings them to life in such a delightful way. This book is moving, emotional and heartwarming. This is the final book in this series and that makes me sad. But all good things must end sometime. A beautiful love story that you will enjoy. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review. A great finale to a wonderful series. Those boys made Miss Ethel proud.
Ah, Cas & Bianca’s story was the perfect ending to this series! I love the spirit of family, the love, the perfect amount of steam that blends with the story & doesn’t overpower it, and the touch of suspense! Miss Ethel is the glue throughout all of these stories, and getting to bask in the family she created with her boys… *happy sigh*
: )
This is the last book in the Heroes at Heart series and while each one can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading them all!! In this one, we get Cas’s story. Cas ends up with Miss Ethel after something horrific happens. But while it did, he ended up in the best place he could have given the circumstances. And in doing so, he meet’s Bianca. The girl who moves in across the street from them and becomes his best friend. They thought they had time in order to figure out how much they meant to each other. But circumstances changed the course of their lives. Bianca has come “home” in order to find the last place she was truly happy. Never realizing that her life will be put back to rights. Or that she will find the one thing she has always been searching for.
I absolutely loved this story!! Right from the start I was drawn in and I didn’t want to put it down for anything! Cas is this beyond sweet man who is finally following his own dreams. Dreams that he never truly thought he could make a living doing. Bianca is a woman who has been through so many things that a person shouldn’t have to go through. But she is also strong and has a beautiful heart. And reading about how their story starts and about how they get their second chance is beyond what I had hoped for. While I am most definitely sad that this series is ending, it couldn’t have ended in a better way!!
Maryann Jordan has a way of making me feel as thought I’m part of the family. Sitting in Miss Ethel’s living room listening to her stories.
Cas knew from the moment he met the beauty from across the street that there was something special about her. Especially when she decided Cas was her shield. Her protector. Miss Ethel and her boys she nicknames the 7 dwarfs quickly welcomed Bianca into the family. Just when Cas gets the courage to explore the feelings he has for Bianca her dad and her evil stepmother move away.
Years later Bianca returns to Virginia and fate steps in and they’re reunited. Cas finds out Just how evil her stepmother really is. Bianca has had a hard life. Cas is determined to convince her to stay and make a life with him. After all she’s always been a part of the family. The other half of his heart. But her evil stepmother has plans of her own.
I really don’t want this series to end! I love Miss Ethel her words of wisdom and her boys!
“I voluntarily received this arc book for an honest review”
4.5 Stars
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, sadness, secrets, pain, suspense, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Zander (Heroes at Heart #1)
Rafe (Heroes at Heart #2)
Cael (Heroes at Heart #3)
Jaxon (Heroes at Heart #4)
Jayden: Heroes at Heart
Asher (Heroes at Heart #6)
Zeke (Heroes at Heart #7)
This is Bianca and Cas’s story. Cas and Bianca have a history with a great connection but unfortunately, they were pulled apart. When years later they meet again the chemistry is still there. Can they find a way to be together or has too much time passed? Can they have a future or is she too busy to have him in her life?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book.
What a beautiful story and sweet ending to what has been a lovely series. Such a well written and entertaining story which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Cas is the 8th and final book in the Heroes at Heart series and it has all the feels. Raised by Miss Ethel along with 7 other foster brothers, we meet Cas as a young teen with a precocious little girl for a neighbor. Bianca is an only child and she is looking for someone to play with. As we see this childhood friendship evolve we get to know two children dealing with the loss of parents and finding a family with the people in their lives. Ms. Jordan ends this series with a sweet love story and closure for the remaining seven brothers who we met in her previous books. It is standalone, however, this series is worth the read. You will fall in love with Miss Ethel and her boys. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily give my review.
It is bittersweet to come to the end of the Heroes at Heart series. Each story is a standalone with the common thread of a foster family lovingly lead by Miss Ethel and each loosely based on a fairy tale.
Cas is the last brother still single. He is quiet and hardworking. A mechanic by day but his true calling is in the gorgeous furniture he makes in his spare time.
“It seems like I spend a lot of my time looking back at the past. It’s only been recently that I started looking forward.”
…”But until I reached back and touched my past, I couldn’t move forward.”
Bianca travels back to the last place she felt happiness and rediscovers the family of brothers who befriended her.
“It only hurts if I let their arrows land on me.” Her lips curved into a slow smile and she lifted her head to stare at him again, “You’ve always been my shield. When you’re around, their arrows bounce off.”
Cas is an absolutely beautiful story. A second chance love story. It has all the elements that remind me why I read this genre!
-5 Stars!!-
This is a beautiful ending to a beautiful series!
Every word, every quote will touch you. Cas and Bianca’s story a rendition of Snow White starts as children, Cas one of Miss Ethel’s boys, Bianca the girl who lost her mother who moves a cross the street, she becomes a little sister to the boys but is always closer to Cas. Bianca life changes when her father remarries and they move to California and Cas joins the army but their story doesn’t end there in some ways it’s just the beginning.
Miss Ethel has been the anchor in every book, the heart. The woman who brought 8 boys into her home, gave them the love of classic literature and the love some had never had and replaced the love some had lost. She’s the mother, grandmother, aunt or friend we all wish we had.
I had so many favorite quotes from this book, here are a couple:
“Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.”
“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
Maryann Jordan has written a series that has touched my heart, the ending was beautifully done, though this is a series I never wanted to end!
I am in absolute love with this series and how they are based loosely on fairy tales. Miss Ethel has raised lost boys into just the most awesome men. I’m sad that this is the last in the series but I will revisit this series again. The men always find their perfect mate and Miss Ethel is always right there guiding them.
I started this book knowing my time spent within these pages would be tearful since it is the last story in the wonderful Heroes at Heart Series. As each of Miss Ethel’s boy’s stories were told in books 1-7 I marveled at how despite her age, Miss Ethel still found time to be involved in and be an instrumental pivot point in their lives. With each story and journey towards the end of this series, I worried about whether Miss Ethel’s life might also end with the series and how I would feel about losing such a wonderful character. My review does not discuss that fear nor whether it comes to fruition but centers on how Cas was able to find Bianca, the love he found at such a young age of 13 only to lose her when she is forced to move across the country just as their lives should have been starting together. Many years later fate plays an unusual part in bringing them back together when Bianca finds herself diverted from her travels back to her “home” in Virginia onto a back road due to a mysterious accident on the main highway. While taking this detour, she is drawn to a quaint cottage in the woods that is being offered to rent only to find out that her childhood sweetheart lives in an adjacent property. There are so many found memories brought to mind of the stories of all of Miss Ethel’s “boys” and how because of her love and support they came to be the happy family they all deserved after coming to live with her. This is a series full of wonderful characters that taught you valuable life lessons through the beauty of their stories without realizing this is what was happening. Well Done, Maryann Jordan, Well Done! Thank you for providing some of the most wonderful and memorable stories in such a beautiful way.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary tear-filled review.
I just finished Cas and I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes because this is the last book in the Heroes at Heart series. I don’t want it to end! I am so attached to these characters! They’re like my family. Cas is another great book in the series and I adored it. This is a second chance romance (which are my favorite) between Cas and Bianca and they are such an awesome couple! And Ms. Ethel! Everyone needs a Ms. Ethel in their lives! As sad as I am for this series to end, I am looking forward to what Ms. Jordan has planned next!
The beginning of this book is all about the time when Bianca had been their neighbor.
Cas was thirteen when a young girl and her father moved in across the street from Miss Ethel’s. She was a pretty little girl with long black hair, pale skin and beautiful blue eyes. He was a little annoyed when she first introduced herself but found himself tolerating her.
Bianca was intrigued by Cas and the fact he has 7 brothers, referring to them as dwarfs like in Sleeping Beauty and Cas wasn’t going to contradict her, he got a kick out of it.
Once she met the others she said they were much more like giants and instead of comparing Cas to the prince she informs them he’s more like the hunter. She spent many days at Miss Ethel’s while her father worked, even after he remarried.
They lost touch when she moved away, her father had given in to his new wife and found a position in California. Cas graduated high school and following his brother’s footsteps enlisted in the Army. Bianca always managed to sneak into his thoughts and he hoped all was well with her.
Years have passed and Bianca’s father died, she has her mother’s inheritance and actually had to go to court because her stepmother contested the will. Having won that battle she travels back to Virginia to where she was once truly happy.
Their reunion was epic! I loved it so much, Cas’ cat Princess was very smart to find their new neighbor.
Of course nothing is going to be completely smooth, even though they click on every level imaginable, Cas does something really dumb.
Cas comes up with some very unique ways to ask her forgiveness.
Bianca also has some things to figure out and deal with.
I love all the quotes in this book and Miss Ethel is the anchor of this wonderful group of men and their families.
Some suspense, laughter, and tears, with the friends that are more like family.
I hate to see this series come to an end, but I am sure Maryann Jordan has many new and wonderful things in the works.
An Absolutely Beautiful Romance .
I absolutely loved reading CAS .This is the final story in The Heroes at Heart series .
Hats off to Mrs Jordan this story is wonderful as is the entire series . I was overcome with emotions happy and sad . Just a fantastic take . Cas is the last of Mrs Ethel’s boys (men) to get his happily ever after . Bianca moved across the street as they were growing up the boys became her protectors just like Snow white and the seven dwarfs except they were her giants and Cas was her shield . Till there lives are torn apart when Cas is preparing for the military and Bianca is forced to move away . Years later Bianca returns to the place she has the happiest memories . Will they get a second chance . This story is amazing . You should have tissues and maybe a soothing drink close at hand . This story is the perfect finish to a fabulous series . I’ll be sad to see it finished but look forward to reading the next wonderful story that I’m sure she will create . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy .
