4 Cranky Stars
Carter Wilson is an actor who lives his life in the spotlight. He treads carefully because he lives two different lives. Movie star Carter and every day Carter are vastly different in fact if the public was to find out it might just end his career. When a life changing phone calls plants him back in Twilight Falls, he starts a new normal. Gone are parties and ladies throwing themselves at him. It’s now nights at home with Maisie and learning to cook for her. He wasn’t expecting a man to show up on his doorstep in a rage. He felt a spark at that moment and knew this man was going to be a game changer. Elijah is a trained pastry chef who has conquered the French pastry scene. He was burned by love once and he decided to head back home to Twilight Falls and recognize a dream he and his grandma had and that was to open a pastry shop. When a disturbance from across the street had him marching over there, he wasn’t expecting Carter. Elijah feels something with him and can’t help but love Maisie too. He knows Carters secret and guards it with his life. When the news comes to light he stands by Carter and refuses to let the press get to him. Heck not even the groveling French ex-boyfriend Nico or the manipulative Mira can pull these two apart.
Like book one in this series this book is just as steamy yet there is so much love. You must admire that Elijah loves who he is and doesn’t hide it. He is out and proud but also wants to find someone to spend his life with. Carter just stepped up even at the pinnacle of his career he became a guardian to a niece he only met through video chat. There were no epic fits or movie star moments and I liked that. The only real drama was Nico and Mira. I think the Twilight Falls series is perfect for lovers of M/M romance.
The second in the Twilight Fall series, Carter can be read as its own standalone book, however to get the full effect, I do recommend you read the first in the series titled Alex. (Also totally awesome!)
Carter is a sweet, heartwarming story with a killer cast, Elijah is the talented party chief whipping up his culinary delights, add in the ultra-heart throb movie star, Carter, then toss in little Maisie and you have a recipe of a sweet story. Carter is known for sleeping with just about any woman that moves, but what most people don’t know is that he is bi. This takes a hard toll for Elijah when he hears the tiny cries of his new neighbors’ baby. Then sparks fly and a new bond forms…
What happens when the past of both guys comes knocking?
Will they weather the storm?
Can the future they both want truly be that easy?
I loved this so much, it was like visiting with old friends after a long journey. Page after page was better than the last, passion and vulnerability, love and pain, everything a reader would like in a book, this one has it all. Very much looking forward to the next in the series.
*This is a male on male story, for those who do not enjoy that, please be aware**
To me this book was about second chances, not with one another but about their lives in general…maybe next chapters is a better term to use. Elijah is opening a bakery in the town of Twilight Falls which was a dream his grandmother had for him when he was younger and now that he has the opportunity to make it happen he is, and he has left a Michelin star restaurant in order to move onto the next chapter in his life. As for Carter, well he’s a successful movie star with a big secret, no one other then his family and very close friends know’s he’s bisexual. While on break between movies he receives a devastating phone call that his sister and brother-in-law have been in a terrible accident. Carter’s new chapter is that he is now guardian of his niece.
We all experience new chapters in our lives whether it’s a new job, finishing school, getting married, well you get the idea, and not all of them are easy sometimes we find road blocks or something trying to pull us back to where we use to be. I will not give anything away but I will let you know that there is some angst in this story and it’s not only from one side, it seems like it’s coming from everywhere BUT there is a HEA at the end so no worries about a cliffhanger or anything like that.
Carter’s story was heartbreaking at times and I couldn’t tell you who I loved more, Carter, Elijah, or Maisie. What I can tell you is that this was a great addition to the series and I cannot wait to read HUNTER’s story next. This series follows a group of friends and you will see the previous couples pop up in the books, but each book can be read as a standalone if you choose to read them that way.
Happy Reading!!!
This is book #2 in the Twilight Falls series. This story can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and to understand the series better, I recommend reading this series in order.
Elijah hears sounds from his neighbors home that worry him. A child is crying and he does not know why. Does he do something? Stand by? This is a defining moment.
Carter has been hit with some of life’s true setbacks. When he and Elijah both have surprises from their past thrown at them – can they come together and make a future? What does it take to give someone your heart?
I could not stop reading this. Every page had more and more I needed to know. I loved all the very sexy times, and the sparks were flyin’! This one has it all heart, heat, and hurt. I was so pleased that this story gave me a little bit of it all. I am hopeful for the next installment of this series.

Seductive, sweet, and downright salacious!
Carter is the sultry, heartwarming novel featuring the dedicated, talented, pastry chef Elijah and the hard-bodied, hunky, movie star Carter as they discover together a sense of purpose, passion, and fulfilment beyond their careers and the importance of family, friendship, and a place to call home.
The writing is provocative and light. The characters are devoted, supportive, and kind. And the plot unravels quickly into a tale full of sizzling chemistry, undeniable attraction, familial responsibilities, community, fame, tender moments, sexy times, and scrumptious treats.
Overall, Carter is a spicy, uplifting, sensuous tale by Salinger that’s another fantastic addition to the Twilight Falls series and a perfect example of why when it comes to writing racy banter and erotic M/M sex scenes she’s one of the best.
