Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a … a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.
This book is not for the faint of heart.

I was on an emotional roller coaster while reading this one. It will pull you in from the beginning where Emma has to shoot her roommates boyfriend because he is raping her and going to kill her and maybe he would kill Emma too. But Emma had to protect Mallory and keep her safe. But who would keep Emma safe? Then she remembers what her brother AJ …
Oh Carter.. I’d join the mob for you. Don’t tell my husband But in all seriousness, this was a great book. Tijan is an amazing writer and she hooks you in from beginning to end.
Really good mafia story by Tijan. Carter is an mysterious hero. Emma is a strong willed heroine that has known Carter all her life. When a life threatening decision is made, she must find Carter before danger finds her. Intense, drama filled read.
Emma walks in and sees what’s happening to her friend and knows that she has to make a decision, knowing it will change all their lives. Realising exactly what she had done and to who she knew her life was in danger, she remembers her brother, Carter was his best friend and said she could always count on him.
Getting to Carter wasn’t that easy, …
I love tis book and the alpha male of reed. This man in this story drives me crazy with the twists and turns and the alpha that comes out through out this story.
When Emma walks into her apartment and finds her roommate is being brutally raped, she makes a swift decision – she kills the guy. It didn’t matter that this guy was her roommate’s boyfriend, what mattered was that she knew he would have probably killed her, maybe both of them.
Having a dead body in your apartment is a bit of a problem, …
Sometimes rereading a book let you see or hear things in this particular book, that you didn’t see the first time.
I’ve read Carter Reed a long time ago and wanted to remember why I loved it so much.
Carter is just the perfect example for a bad-alpha-mafia man. He is extremely good-looking, dangerous and has a don’t-take-prisoners like …
3.5 stars
This was a little different than I thought it would be. I liked it enough to keep going and maybe I have become an old lady screaming at people to get off my lawn, but this book seemed wayyyy far fetched.
The female protagonist is a horrible, horrible friend and I really never completely warmed up to her. There were characters I was …
I fully enjoyed this story. I loved seeing the good and bad side of the “mob”. Carter was hot but intense and sensitive at the same time. It’s hard to imagine this happening in real life but the story definitely gives a realistic image.
I love this book..very different for tijan..I read the sequel and love it too! Carter does it for me!
I read the sample and was hooked. But it was like a quality control roller coaster: the parts that were good were really good and the parts in between tanked. Emma couldn’t decide if she was a crying doormat or a badass. She goes to Carter for help but then leaves even though she know she’s a target! That’s too stupid to live territory. The …
Loved Carter!! His quiet storm and insane magnetism threw me for a loop!! His undying devotion and inherent concern for Emma melted me to the floor and set my Kindle ablaze!! An awesome Mafia Read!!!

Wow okay this is only like the 3rd time I have read this book. But wow every time. Thank you Tijan for another awesome read!!
Carter Reed is my favourite mafia male protagonist. It crushed me my heart when I heard Tijan wouldn’t finish the series. The way Carter Reed cuddled the female protagonist swooned me so much. I hope one day these characters will talk again and Tijan will have no choice but to finish this series and give the readers closure.
I’ve read both Carter Reed books and Cole right after Bennett Mafia because I couldn’t get enough of these dark stories of the underworld. Although the storyline might not be as good as Bennett Mafia in my opinion, Carter Reed definitely stole my heart! He’s gorgeous, powerful, loyal to his best friend, and willing to do anything for the love of …
Why am I only reading this now ??
I need to hang my head in shame. I’ve never read this author before. I have so many books I’ve just not got gotten around to it. But I’m so glad I have this book was really good. I enjoyed it from start to finish. I was hooked from the beginning. I do like it when a book starts with a bang and this one sure did. …
Wow. I never thought – Mafia and Romance in the same breath, but Tijan does an amazing job with it. I read this start to finish without taking a break, it was that wonderful.
I really enjoyed read this book ! The Story was great and the characters were compelling .
Emma has been through a lot ,she witnessed her brother being murdered ,she’s been in foster care and now she walks in on her roommate getting raped ,she does the first thing she can think of and kills the guy who is part of the mob, they go on the run and …
