Stopping at the grocery store for some carrots shouldn’t be dangerous, but in Shelby’s case, it changes her life forever. During a bank robbery, she is caught in the cross-fire and grazed by a bullet to the head, leaving her with the crazy ability to read minds. Not only is she hearing what everyone thinks about her, but the gunman who shot her is out to silence her forever. In her fight to stay alive she is saved from certain death by a handsome hitman with ties to organized crime. This pulls Shelby even deeper into danger, where knowing someone’s thoughts can not only hurt her feelings, but get her killed.

Carrots: A Shelby Nichols Adventure is in the same shelf as Stephanie Plum and Betsy Taylor in terms of comedy and hilarity. I love chic-lit plied with mystery and Colleen Helme did not disappoint! Loved it! ~Braine – Talk Supe: A Pop Fiction Book Blog

Far better than I had expected, given the fairly implausible premise. The characters are quite engaging, the subplots help move the action along and the final few pages will leave you wondering if the protagonist, Shelby, is actually “cured”; as this is the first book in a series, it will be interesting to see what the author does with her …
I enjoyed all the Shelby Nichols series. Carrots got me “hooked”Often like to read books that take me away from daily stress, and these books did. Thanks! Looking forward to more.
I read this whole series. What a great story teller!
I really enjoyed this book! I’d love to read more from this author.
This was mildly amusing to me. Maybe it just wasn’t my thing. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t want to read any sequels.
It was hardto put down. Kept your interest going
I loved this book, I havent gotten to book 2 but I cant wait to read that one. So much fun loved the characters even the ones that are supposed to be bad.
Brain candy! Is there more coming?
Forgot I read this one. I enjoy this genre as it keeps my interest and I can see where the plot could really happy than average person. Take a chance and try it.
This story of a mind-reading problem solver wife and loving family person was full of twists and turns. Although I kept yelling “don’t GO there!”, she didn’t read MY mind and went! A fun read!
This story is interesting because of the lead’s abilities after she gets shot in the head while shopping for carrots. Fun and original.
Loved this book so much, I bought the rest of the series. So different than other cozy mysteries!!
I loved Carrots! This was unlike anything I have ever read. Bravo!
Too much information and world building with zero plot.
I look forward to reading more in the series.
Great story. Thoroughly enjoyed. Bought the next 2 books in the series and will buy more.
enjoyed this book
Funny story with several twists as the story develops it was difficult to put the book down. Overall crazy things happen to this woman and she has to survive some crazy moments and figure out some shady characters but she gets through it and I found that I wanted to get the second book. Usually I only read the first book of a series so this book …
It was fun! Really enjoyed it! Not the best prose, but it was in the “first person” and she is a bit ditsy. Not realistic but that is what makes it so fun! Good, quick, light, fun read!
A fun read with interesting characters and just the right number of plot twists. Just suspend reality at the first page.
