Stephen King’s legendary debut, about a teenage outcast and the revenge she enacts on her classmates. Carrie White may be picked on by her classmates, but she has a gift. She can move things with her mind. Doors lock. Candles fall. This is her power and her problem. Then, an act of kindness, as spontaneous as the vicious taunts of her classmates, offers Carrie a chance to be a normal…until an … normal…until an unexpected cruelty turns her gift into a weapon of horror and destruction that no one will ever forget.

Stephen King’s ability to write a great read is certainly on display in the book. This book made me a fan for life.
I will start by saying I have seen the movie too many times to count. This was the first time I have actually read the book and wow! I feel it gave more insight into Carrie and her mom. I am now wondering if maybe the mother had some kind of mental disorder to act the way she does and to clasp on to religion in that way. Then again a miscarriage can mess with anyone’s mind. I really felt sorry for Carrie and how she didn’t stand any chance at having a normal life. She acted the only way she knew how in order to protect herself. To have that kind of power is mind-boggling. I really did enjoy this story and would have given it five stars but those interviews and commission letters I felt took away from the story especially when they appeared in the middle of intense moments.
Classic. What else there is to say about the novel Carrie that hasn’t been already said or shown in movies? It’s a must read. 🙂
The book was great.
