Piper Stone is a master of world building. Her descriptions drag you into this world, which you cannot resist visiting anyway. Like most of the books by this author, there are rich, dark undertones in the storyline that keeps you hooked until the very end. Both the main characters and secondary characters are necessary to the story as they engage your emotions and you can’t help but care about what will become of them. The main characters are so full of passion, emotion, loyalty, and chemistry, you can feel the sparks flare between Kathleen and Maximillian. Although violent and spine shivering horror is a part of this compelling story, at its heart is a romance destined by fate.

This book grabs your attention within the first couple of pages (which turn out to be dreams) and never lets go. The book has two main stories, the first is Max finding the one he is meant to be with, Kathleen a human and the vicious murders that are being committed by a wolf shifter. Kathleen, a police detective is investigating these murders and she is paired with an ATF agent Max who is a shifter. The who and why of the murders takes awhile to play out but not before Kathleen is stalked and almost killed. There is a HEA for the two of them. There is a lot going on in this book which makes it a great read and one that I would highly recommend.

someone is being chased only to finally captured by a beast? A man? and shown what happens to naughty mates who run. Yeah, it’s hot and that is only the beginning. Don’t worry, all of PS’s girls as sassy spitfires who like to make a man work for it and Kathleen is no different. She leads Max on a merry chase as the two work together to catch a killer before more innocent lives ate taken. What this feisty little human doesn’t know Max is a shifter and she is his mate. He will do everything in his power to protect her, even from herself, including disciplining her.

All is not what it seems and some are not who they appear to be, and sometimes monsters hide in plain site.
There will bell loss, love, heartbreak, new beginnings and endings for some.
An entertaining, hot and steamy paranormal story packed with action, mystery, chemistry and fate!!! A must read!!!

I liked this dark shifter romance. Max and Kathleen were interesting characters and they generate lots of intense heat and sparks together. There’s a strong story here that kept my attention well. Steamy passion, BDSM, mystery, action, suspense, danger and intense emotions are blended together into a powerful mixture that paired with the intriguing characters makes for some really good reading.

A excellent shifter romance with some dark undertones. The plot is very intriguing & full of suspenseful situations & unexpected events. The characters are well-developed complex individuals although one of them is inclined to be quite domineering at times but at other times rather loving & protective.
There is: a male werewolf & special agent for the ATF (Maximillian aka Max) is on the hunt for his female mate (a police detective, Kathleen) but at the same time he is also looking for a devious murderer, werewolves, humans, law enforcement, rogues, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, adventure, action, rivalry, mystery, deceit, betrayal, alliances, secrets, blackmail, enemies, threats, evil, murders, warnings, violence, conflict, suspicions, distrust, premonitions, defiance, discipline, spankings, confrontations, love, compromises, contentment, explicit steamy scenes & a well-earned satisfying conclusion. I enjoyed reading this dark shifter romance & would recommend it.
