From International Bestseller Michelle Heard, comes a new, sexy novel in the Enemies To Lovers series.Irony – when life f@cks you over. Jaxson She’s the one girl I can’t forget. She’s as innocent as a saint, with the mouth of a sinner. After taking her virginity, it’s taken me four years to get rid of the guilt. I used her while she was at her lowest and she’s never forgiven me. Watching my best … she’s never forgiven me.
Watching my best friend die a little every day, and not being able to do anything about it, kills me.
I should’ve seen it coming. The second I hit rock bottom, she walks back into my life.
The f@cking irony?
She might be the only one who can save Marcus.
The life of the person who means the most to me lies in the palm of the girl I screwed.
Leigh
Hate is a strong word, but it’s one I’ve really considered when it comes to Jaxson West. But I’ve settled for intensely disliking him. Asking me to forgive Jaxson is like asking me to willingly sit through a root canal.
He’s heartbreakingly gorgeous, emphasis on heartbreakingly.
He’s an amazing friend, just not to me.
He’s supportive, understanding, caring and loving, just not to me.
No, for me he reserves his dark scowls and low growls.
I’ll do everything I can to save Marcus, but I’m not doing it for Jaxson.
This is book #3 in the Enemies To Lovers Series. Each book in the series is about a different couple. To get the full experience of their friendship, I’d recommend that you start with Heartless.
Reading Order:
Heartless – Carter & Della
Reckless – Logan & Mia
Careless – Jaxson & Leigh
Ruthless – Marcus & Willow
Shameless – Rhett & Evie

4*
Leigh is used to finding answers to everything, been exceptionally talented and graduating young she hasn’t lived a teenagers life. Her goal in life is to follow her parents into the medical field expecially the heart.
Jaxon is taken aback by the beauty of Leigh and her knowledge.
Unexpected news has her ending up at Jaxon’s but has he messed things up?
The need for her help will hopefully right the wrongs.
Another great addition to the series
This book made me carelessly happy! 4 stars
On the outside Jaxson appears careless and cynical, but he was so much more. Right away we find out about his past, and I immediately felt for him. After Jaxon was an arrogant jerk to Leigh at a party, she can’t stand him. She only deals with facts and realities since she was a genius and cannot understand why she was attracted to him while hating him! They banter and get under each other’s skin, and I love that kind of relationship! He called her called a “feisty genius,” and he loved that about her. Then an incident happens with Leigh, she goes to Jax and that’s when their relationship takes a turn for the good. She got to see underneath his exterior and felt like she could actually fall in love, but life has other plans. When they meet again brought together by extraordinary circumstances, will they get their second chance? Read and find out, because Jax made me swoon! Leigh may have been scared to feel, but when she did it made me so happy! They were opposites who fit together, and it made me carelessly happy! I recommend this book and series!
This series is amazing. I am loving every second of it and devouring the books. Jaxson and Leigh’s story will test it’s limits but fate is a funny thing. I cried like a baby. You should read the books in order. Looking forward to Marcus and Rhett’s books.
My favourite book of this series so far…yes I still have two books to read. I’m certain that I will not be let down and after reading this book my expectations are very high. It’s an emotional roller coaster, but this group of characters are so close and share everything. It’s endearing watching them support each other and share things from their perspective. There is no bitching or bickering among them and they would travel to the moon and back for each other. They may have the funds to do whatever they want, but they are humble and kind. Just have a box of Kleenex nearby.
Jaxon doesn’t ever want a relationship. Girlfriends mean feelings and he doesn’t want to be attached to anyone…
That is until he meets Leigh…
She’s turned his world upside down and he can’t think of nothing else…
Now he wants something more than a one nightstand..
Can he ever have someone as good as Leigh?
Wow! Jaxon and Leigh’s story was amazing. I couldn’t put my kindle down. Such an emotional read. Just can’t get enough of this series.

Michelle Horst gives us another great book. After the harrowing end of the second book, we can finally catch up with the events surrounding all guys. This new book is centered on Jaxson, but just as in the second volume, Marcus and his drama develops in parallel, making us follow his story, as well as the main couple.
Jaxson is Logan’s twin brother, and like his brother, he stole my heart. Everything that happened throughout the book served to make him a great character. His friendship and love for Marcus were beautiful to accompany. The whole bond that united them in the past was tragic, but fundamentally strong for this friendship to be built and fortified over the years. They are more than friends. They are yin yang. The perfect counterbalance of personalities. The farewell scene before surgery made me cry horrors.
In fact, crying was a constant companion in this book. The memories of his childhood, with the scenes of his mother were sad. No child deserves to hear such disdain, such hate. And all his mother’s actions contributed to the fact that in the future he found himself inadequate for someone. I cried for the boy. And I thrashed in tears for the man who tries at all costs not to show to the outside world how much everything that happened to him hurt.
Leigh flirted between irritation and acceptance. The two of them met through Willow, and it’s pretty clear that ScrewCrew boys orbiting between the same girls. All these girls have already appeared in the previous books, they’re friends. Leigh is a prodigy. She finished high school when she was 13 years old. College with 19. Now on vacation before joining medical residency, she meets Jaxson. If in studies she has all the answers, when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex, or even interacting with people, she is a denial.
I found the character very stereotypical, very nerdy. I liked that Jaxson fell in love with a person with a personality totally different from his, with a person with customs and even different creation. He was very expressive and communicative, and found happiness alongside someone reserved and introspective.
The plot surrounding Leigh’s personal tragedy is also a guarantee of tears. Amid the shock of the news, and her brain rationalizing the pain, the whole unfolding scene of the fateful night was thrilling. Sad and beautiful. The reader will feel bittersweet. Jaxson comforted the woman he loved as best he could, as she wanted. Even knowing he would be hated the next morning, that was what she needed. And exactly the next day Leigh aroused me irritation. Her anger and hatred for him for years is without nexus. He even warned her that you would hate him, but she insisted it was what she needed. When he even brokenhearted gives what she wanted, she becomes angry. The moment when she says she hates him during the night they spent together, for me, as a reader, was strong. I did not appreciate her attitude.
The reunion of the two is due to the situation of Marcus. Jaxson finally goes after what he wants. And he does not take no for an answer. The only moment I felt sorry for Leigh was when she finally realized that she could have saved her mother. That moment, that leads to the confrontation with her father until the last scene in the cemetery finished with me.
The couple faced ups and downs, a lot of pain, but ultimately resolved to live life and simply to love.
Marcus who will finally have his story told in the next book, was very important to the plot. I can not wait for the next book.
This is by far the best book in the series so far. Horst (Heard) does an amazing job showing the world that love comes in all different types through the relationships in this story. The heartache between theses characters jumps off the pages to the point that we as readers feel it in our souls. I for one will care it will be for a long time after reading it.
This book centers around Jax and Leigh. Jax has not had the easiest childhood. He has grown up knowing that the opposite sex cannot be trusted. You get what you need and move on, the same thing goes for his best friend Marcus. They make no qualms about letting ladies know where they stand with them, but they treat them with respect. That is until he meets Leigh, there is something about her that calls to him. Something that makes her different, that make him want to be better. So when she needs him to do the one thing that will break both of them, he does it for her. He would do anything for her.
Leigh is a genius. Already graduated from college and ready to start her residency at 19 years old she meets Jax and the rest of the screw crew turning her world upside down. Leigh is not like everyone else. She sees the world as truths and absolutes. There is no room for love in her life, but when she meets Jax he makes her feel things she is unable to understand. When tragedy strikes, he is the person she begs to help her, breaking the fragile friendship they once had.
Now many years have passed and Leigh is there to save the one person that means everything to both of them, will she be able to see past the heartache and save both of them in the process or will she turn her back on happily ever after and this crazy thing called love?
Once again the entire Screw Crew and some new faces show up in this book, so the shenanigans are a guarantee to ensue! This is a must-read for sure! I personally can not wait for the next one in the series!
What another awesome book in the enemies to Lovers series by Michelle Horst. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Jaxson and Leigh’s book as these two i felt we didn’t know much about and i was pleasantly surprised, they become one of my favourite couples in this series.
I love that these are second chance stories and they have such awesome banter at the start. I love how we go back to see where they first met and what happened for them to dislike each other when really they don’t hate each other they just don’t let thier real feelings show, but i love how it gives hope that once you are in a better place in your life you can always go back to who you were meant to be with.
I love how smart Leigh was and loved her determination to be the best heart surgeon there was, she was such a different character and the heartache she went through and the way she really closed herself of to love really broke my heart. She was such an awesome chick who deserved to be happy.
Jaxson had his own demons when it came to love and i think the rejection from his parents really put him a place where he didn’t want to get hurt and put him self out there. His love for Marcus was admirable and i loved thier friendship.
The thing i love about these books is that yes it’s about a certain couple but you always get a piece of all the other characters and not just in a passing comment or they turn up for a little bit they are in the story a lot and i love that.
I have to mention Sebastian and Ryan they just bought an absolutely awesome vibe to this book and just shows that anyone can accept someone that is different and i loved that
Awesome third book for this series and i am super excited for the next book and the couple it’s about. If you love a book, that’s emotional, forgiving, accepting and an awesome story this one is for you.
Massive 5 Stars for this baby, if you haven’t started reading this series then it’s a must.
This book totally surprised me because although it was really good right from the start, I didn’t immediately think of giving it a full star rating until later on. Only a few things kept it from being perfect for me because for example I didn’t like how Jaxson described Leigh as a ‘waiflike delica-cy’. This may seem trivial to most of you but it really made me cringe be-cause I don’t think that’s a nice way to describe a person, especially not from the hero said about the heroine. And there was a much bigger part that almost had me throwing my kindle against the wall. But those things didn’t matter in the end because I was totally captured by the story and the emo-tions it elicited in me.
There was so much that I absolutely loved and which had my feelings all over the place, that it all outweighed the few not-my-type kind of things. Many very heartbreaking scenes, some laugh-out-loud moments, lots of swoon worthy parts and often I couldn’t hold back my tears. Really, I was sobbing quite a lot.
The book started out really good and I liked that we got to know Jaxson’s past and how the Screw Crew got together and grew closer because of what happened. The history of characters is important for me to connect with them so I really liked that.
The story played partly in the past where Jaxson and Leigh met and when everything between them unraveled, and moved on to the present where it all came together again. Sure enough, the rest of the gang wasn’t far and we also got some new characters to love. While this is a standalone, I’d recommend to at least read book #2 first because Marcus’ story (which is woven into book 2 and 3) really starts there. Jax and Leigh’s story can still be enjoyed without having read the previous books though.
I loved this fast paced and quite emotional story a lot especially because the characters already feel like a big family and as the books get better and better in this series, I can’t wait to find out what the next one will bring. (PS: I really hope we get to see more of Sebastian.)
“I’m lost because we’ll never be together even though she feels like home. We’ll only end up destroying each other the same way my parents did. I can’t do that to her. She deserves so much more.”
Jaxson and Leigh have a pull towards each other, but not the way you may think. I loved how put off she was towards him in the beginning, and that you would never think it would progress to anything more than just banter. Crisis after crisis, years pass, and they are thrown together and the results are enough to make you swoon!! The change in Jaxson is sweet, heart-warming, and dare I say, unexpected!! I loved these two together!
“Jaxson West-the enigma with the body of an angel and the soul of the devil.”
When I wasn’t swooning over this couple discovering each other all over again, or worrying myself to death about another character’s crisis, I laughed my tail off at some new secondary characters introduced that I had a blast reading. I laughed, I sighed, and I smiled!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!
“We pour everything into the kiss. Our past, our present, and our future. We kiss the pain away and make promises we’ll never break…”

3+ stars.
Not as good as the second one but still a good read.
There are some sad scenes and some funny scenes.
I think that Marcus’s health problem was resolved very neatly.
Amazing book that is added to this amazing book. each book will grab you and take you on a amazing ride. this book is a must read if you have read the other books in this series.
The crew is back is a bang, Carless is the third book in the series and It’s Jaxson & Leigh story. This is heartbreaking and emotional and such a beautiful story and so far this would be my favorite among all the stories . In Reckless we knew Marcus was dealing with health issues and in this story he does play an important part and story revolves around him . It was heartbreaking and yet heartwarming to see the strong bond & relationship that Jaxson and Marcus share it was beyond friendship and brotherhood. The emotional pain and feelings and insecurities of loosing a loved one is captured so beautifully it brought tears to my eyes. I felt bad for Jaxson and Marcus . Jaxson and Leigh had met back in high school. They were totally opposite of each other like chalk and cheese and they separated. Leigh comes back after four years in Jaxson life to save his best friend Marcus life . The angst , pain ,emotions were so high in this story. Jaxson is arrogant, abrasive, arrogant and careless but we also get to see the side of him where he is warm, supportive, loving, caring and thoughtful. His relationship with Leigh was full of wit and spark . Leigh was witty genius . I was laughing at the witty banter between these two. New characters were introduced in this story which fit right in beautifully with the crew . Overall this story was heartwarming, emotional, heart breaking and yet witty. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Highly recommend this book!
I’ve been on pins and needles waiting for this book since I finished the previous book in the series. I fell in love with all these characters before and fell even deeper while reading Careless. Michelle Heard(Horst) has created a close knit family of friends that pulls you in further and further with each additional book to this series. I swear I’m addicted to them! They’re that good!
Jaxon and Leigh were an amazing couple. Going all the way into the past when they first meet the instant chemistry had sparks flying between them. The love/hate flirtation they kept going until ultimately crashing had me glued to the pages. Beneath all the sarcastic banter was something much bigger they both tried to deny. I loved getting that full history between them before they came together once again.
Once these two are brought together again they’re one of the sweetest couples ever. Jaxon having grown up so much in their years apart is now a strong, kindhearted man determined to win back the only woman he’s ever loved. While Leigh is still the same wickedly intelligent woman she was before, she’s also matured into someone with a huge heart that you can’t help but adore. Adding in her friends to this already close knit group and you’ve got a recipe for an incredible story!
Keeping things spoiler free, if you’ve read the previous book, get ready for some answers and all the feels that come with them. Michelle does not leave us hanging (thank god). My emotions were all over the place reading this. I cried, I laughed, I swooned, and I finished it smiling ear to ear.
“In another life, I could love you”
“Don’t hate me forever, Doc. Meet me in another life so I can love you without you hating me.”
Leigh meets Jaxson through a friend and the attraction is instant, knowing she should stay away she does until one phone call changes everything. Jaxon knows that what he feels with Leigh is more it’s a forever feeling and when she says she wants him he can’t say no even though she will hate him, walking away was the hardest thing he ever did and never got over.
After six years, Leigh returns after receiving a phone call to see if she can help their friend Marcus and she return to do everything she can. When Jaxson sees Leigh, he realises that he’s still in love with her and that he should have fought for her even though she hated him and hopes that this is there another lifetime. Leigh doesn’t understand what she’s feeling, and her friend tries to explain that she’s scared of losing him too. Jaxon knows what he wants and does everything he can to prove to Leigh that they will work.
The whole crew comes together while Leigh does her best to save Marcus’s life, you see the support and love they have for each other and the bond they have particularly Rhett and Danny when she asks him to be her Fairy Godfather.
“A soul doesn’t get to pick its mate. You’re soulmates because you share a soul.”
Careless is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. I laughed, I cried and then I cried some more. This is Jaxson and Leigh’s story but Marcus is a dominant side character in this book. If you have read Reckless then you know what Marcus is dealing with and it had me in tears over and over again. Jaxson’s relationship with Marcus goes beyond friendship and beyond brotherhood.
“I took it all –the good, the bad, the broken –without fail. I took it all, so he didn’t have to carry the full weight of his fucked-up past alone.”
Jaxson is abrasive, arrogant and careless but we also get to see another side of him. One where he is supportive, warm, caring and thoughtful. When he meets Leigh there is definitely a spark and you can’t help but laugh.
“No, it’s definitely not a crush. This is more like that feeling you get when you have an itchy bite under your foot, or when you sit in gum.”
Leigh is a brilliant feisty genius who doesn’t quite believe in the romantic kind of love. She is a realist believing in facts and equations not hormones. She is determined to study hard, excel and make a difference in the world. Their back and forth is hilarious but all it takes is a spilt second for the world to turn upside down.
“I feel the hopelessness knowing there’s nothing I can do to ease her pain.”
We are introduced to a couple of new characters and I absolutely loved them. They fit in seamlessly with the old gang. This book might be my new favorite of the series but honestly I love them all. I recommend reading the books in order to get a better understanding of all the characters and their stories. I’m anxiously preparing myself for the next book.
“Here’s to miracles and health, may we never run out of either.”
