From USA Today bestselling author, Willow Winters, comes a seductive and emotionally captivating, second chance romance. It’s impossible to get over what we had.He was everything – irresistibly handsome, ruthlessly elite, and seemingly untouchable – while I was nothing.Yet he protected me when I was at my lowest; more than that, he wanted me.He devoured me… and I did the same to him.Until it all … the same to him.
Until it all fell apart and I ran as far away from Madox as I could. After all, the two of us were never meant to be together.
I never thought I’d see him again, years later. Let alone be under him in the way I’ve craved since we said goodbye.
The attraction between us still burns like fire, but time can’t change the past. And I don’t know if it’s possible for us to mend all of our broken pieces.

“When the Three of Swords appears in a Tarot reading, obvious pain surrounds you. It’s the card of heartbreak, the card that symbolizes betrayal. The Three of Swords is – simply put – the card of grieving.”
This book was absolutely amazing it’s one that will have you feeling all the feel’s as Madox and Sophie try to give love a 2nd chance, but then these 2 aren’t your average people.
This isn’t your normal story by Willow this book had me wanting to strangle them at one time and hold them close the next. Gah the feel’s
This is one book you’ll want to grab and read and reread again. I honestly don’t think this lady could write a book that wasn’t amazing.
This is my unbiased opinion and my review
This very emotional love story really touched me. I felt such sadness for Sophie and Maddox who were still so obviously in love with each other but long parted all due to what was basically a lack of directness and communication in their relationship. This beautiful, heart-melting second chance love story brought tears to my eyes. I loved these characters. This novella is another truly wonderful read by Willow Winters.

In Willow Winters CARDS OF LOVE: (Three of Swords) the Tarot Cards play an important part. One of the images in the Tarot, the Three of Swords card displays a floating heart that is pierced by three swords. Above it, there are heavy clouds. There is also a heavy downpour in the background. The symbolism is pretty mysterious, and the emotional effect that it has is immediate. The heart is the seat of warmth, affection and spirit, and the three swords indicate the power to harm, cause pain, and create suffering to what it pierces. This is an image of grief, loss and literally heartbreak. The clouds and rain depict the surrounding grimness of the situation. All these symbols point to the Three of Swords showing a low point in one’s life. So this is were the story begins.
The love story of Madox Reed and Sophie Miller starts or continues, after a three year separation. They have to deal with the lousy cards they have been dealt. When given a second-chance together, they must decide if it is fate that has brought them together once more, or the controlling hand of some evil force. He didn’t even know she had left until her plane had already taken off. Seeing her across the bar three years later, he marvels that she came back, but why? Some card meanings are obvious, like the Judgment card. An impossibility of avoiding scrutiny and insurmountable obstacles. When Sophie thought of Madox, every time, it was that she never stopped loving him, but sometimes fate simply doesn’t let love be enough.
Some say there are no bad cards in Tarot, but the Judgment card is one to avoid. What were the odds that she had not made it four hours back in New York from leaving San Francisco, before running into Madox, the love of her life. Like the King of Swords card, Madox has no one to blame but himself for her leaving. Sometimes when people meet, they are never the same again. There’s a piece of the other person that stays with them forever. Even in their absence.
Maybe against all the odds. The Lovers card is another whose meaning may appear to be obvious. A card many would love to receive. It’s about sexuality and passion. But above all that, the Lovers card signifies unity. The cards will play out till the ending of the book! Even if the cards are stacked against you, doesn’t mean you won’t still win in the end! Good Story!!
Wow! I loved this book so much! I couldn’t put it down! It was so well written and it had all the feels! My heart broke so much for Sophie and Maddox. Everything they went through. I’m so glad they got such a great HEA!
This lady has been giving me some of my favorite books from this year. She’s amazing and super versatile. Each book has the ability to hook me up in a sec and the need to keep reading is so overwhelming that I can’t stop.
Willow Winters is the one that I’m talking about. Her writing is hot, wild, intense and breathtaking. Each book is unique and I know that once you start it you will be a goner.
Three of Swords is her latest release and it’s included in the Cards Of Love universe.
This new book tells the stories of Madox and Sophie.
Madox is hot as sin and super rich. Just an explosive combo that will make every girl dream… One of his regrets was and still is letting Sophie slip away all those years ago but now…
Sophie walked away leaving everything behind and years later she’s back in the same town as Madox. And now what?
I can’t say more without spoiling so I’m going to shut up.
This book was smaller but with so much feelings between the chapters.
Perfect plot, super engaging and intense. These two had their far share of pain but love really needs to conquer all. Fight for your second chance and maybe life will grant you your happiness.
Nothing in life is granted but love… Love is forever.
It was amazing to witness their struggles and to see the outcome of it.
And am I being greedy for asking for more? If I am I really don’t care because I really want more.
Thank you Willow. This book nailed it.

These cards were stacked in our favor!
I was in it to win from the beginning of the prologue! This author’s writing pulls me in & never lets me go until the book is finished. I loved this second chance love story that has twists & two main characters, Madox & Sophie, who are beautifully broken, but love each other with every breath they take. Their pasts & communication issues broke my heart, & I was rooting for them the whole time. This is a quick, emotional read that I loved, & you will too.
It’s short, sexy and heartwarming story at second chance at romance. It will keep you hooked from beginning to end as it gives you all the feels. It has characters you will love. A great storyline that you will enjoy. It’s an entertaining read.
I loved the parts of this story that were there. As always, I have a love/hate relationship with novellas, and this is a perfect example. I really felt like there was too much of Sophie and Madox’ story to be told in such a short period. A few things were left up in the air, and while I was satisfied with their happily ever after, I was left wanting regarding their history.
Second chance romances are usually one of my favorite tropes; you get two love stories for the price of one. There is just something special about love that endures time apart and rekindles into something profound and indestructible. We got pieces of both Sophie and Madox’ first love and second love, and I fell hard for both of their romances, I just felt like they weren’t quite complete, not quite enough to make me understand why they were so desperately in love with one another.
From the few flashbacks and recounting of their ‘before’ relationship it was evident both Sophie and Madox had grown and healed significantly in the years they spent apart. They’d both suffered great traumas they’d never dealt properly with, instead relying on the comfort of the other’s arms to delay the pain. Knowing that they’d somehow learned more about themselves and their own wants and needs while they were apart was good, though I would have loved to have seen how they’d come to those places for myself.
All in all, Three of Swords was an excellent basis of a story. I cared deeply for the characters and felt their pain and love vividly. Had I not connected so profoundly to them, I wouldn’t feel this overwhelming need to know more about them. Perhaps for that reason alone, I should rate the book higher, but my lack of satisfaction is gnawing a hole in my gut refuses to let me give it more than 3.5 stars.
Willow Winters has really gone far and beyond in the book Cards of Love: Three of Swords. I am a die hard fan of second chance romances and Willow just slung me out into orbit with Sophie and Madox’s complicated but true love relationship. Throughout the book I couldn’t contain my anguish as I witnessed Sophie and Madox dancing around their true emotions. How deeply they loved one another, but their lack of communication often made what they had poisonous. Although they had a type of love that comes around only once in a lifetime, their unfortunate upbringings didn’t provide them with the best role models.
After losing Sophie three years ago, Madox knew that if given a second chance, he would have to change his ways. So when Sophie appears at his bar, he knew that he couldn’t lose her again. The three years she was gone, Madox wasn’t living, he was just surviving. How far will Madox go to show Sophie what she means to him? Can he finally open up and be vulnerable to the one person that means the world to him?
Sophie knew that moving back to New York meant that there was a great possibility she would run into Madox again. Madox, the man that saved her years ago from a fate that would have changed her forever. Madox, her one true love whom she loved more than anything. Madox, the man that makes her feel oh so good but also makes her weak and dependent. Sophie is stronger now and as much as she wants Madox back in her life, the fear that he will consume her makes her try and keep him at arms length. Unfortunately he has too strong of a hold on her and she finds herself back in his arms. Can Sophie be with Madox without losing herself along the way? Will she go running once things become complicated again?
It was heart wrenching and painful watching Madox and Sophie struggling to be better together while fighting their past demons. When a truth that involves them and a very unlikely other is revealed, will it bring Sophie and Madox closer together or will it end them forever? I LOVED Madox and Sophie and how they discovered one another again their second time around. I was thrilled when Madox finally opened up and shared with Sophie what she has been waiting to hear. It is never too late for love if two people are willing to make the change and fight for one another.
A Review of Cards of Love: Three of Swords by Willow Winters

Madox and Sophie’s beautiful second chance love story is an emotional read of angst with hurt on both sides and heart wrenching emotions. A page turner with miscommunications, it gives the reader a beautiful story of healing with Madox and Sophie’s HEA that makes this a great afternoon read. A story not to be missed, I would like to thank Willow Winters and Sophie Broughton for gifting me “Cards of Love”. My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.25 Stars!
The Three of Swords was an addictive second chance romance, giving you the steam, the chemistry, an all consuming love affair and a few twists and turns along the way to keep you on your toes. For a novella it fills the plot line out nicely, with character depth and a back story that is appropriately fleshed out and doesn’t leave you wanting. All I wanted as always with any of Willow’s books is more.
Sophie is the heroine of the story here and she finds herself entangled with our Hero Madox during a chance meeting when they were teenagers. After 3 years of a relationship, Sophie runs leaving Madox behind and breaking her heart in the process.
Madox is a character who isn’t quite what I expected, from Sophie’s perspective she recalls him closed off, stern, never really affected by what surrounds him, almost uncaring. However once we read segments from Madox’s point of view, you find yourself smitten by a man that is completely besotted by Sophie, she is his world and cannot think of a life without her. I mean how can you not get your swoon on over a man who thinks like that?
Despite the years apart their chemistry leaps off the page almost immediately, I couldn’t wait for both characters to interact and I wasn’t disappointed. The reason I love second chance romances is that things are not always what they seem. Watching the characters figure their feelings out and try to fight the inevitable keeps me completely engrossed and Willow masters this with great skill.
Sophie and Madox have had a on again/ off again relationship for several years before she finally walked away. Neither of them expected to the degree the pain that went with the breakup and also the distance. Now they are back in the same city with a Huge mountain of misunderstandings between them. Nothing will stop Maddox from convincing Sophie that they are truly meant to be together. Only will she agree or will she fight against that viewpoint and, in return, him ? This is a very good 2nd chance at love novella that will have you rooting for the main characters who HEA is well deserved . The emotions are so vibrant and hit you in the FEELS. Its steamy, intense and hot. I do wish this was a longer read, other than that, fantastic.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
Sophia and Maddox have a complicated relationship and now they’ve finally got the chance to leave the past behind them and fix what’s broken between them. Of course that’s not as easy as it sounds and their story is full of emotions, regret and second chances. Another enjoyable book from Ms Winters.
Madox and Sophie story is a beautiful emotional roller coaster. They are given a second chance at love this story pulls you in emotionally. It’s well written and I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily read a arc copy
Three of Swords is Willow Winters writing at her best. It is raw, emotional and gritty; a second chance at love shaded by the sorrow of the past.
Sophie has returned home after three year away, but it is not long enough to forget her first love. She was so compliant last time that she is scared history will repeat. Madox took her for granted and has missed her every day she has been away. He learnt from his mistakes and is ready to fight for what he wants. Willow Winters is a master at her craft and wonderfully weaves their path to a spectacular conclusion.
Three of Swords is a great read and I would highly reccomend it for a cosy night in.
From the first page I fell in love with Maddox and Sophie. The passion that the words conveyed was amazing. A wonderfully sweet and quick read I would recommend to anyone looking for a book to make them smile.
I really enjoy second chance romance. This story had all the elements of a hreat story and didn’t disappoint. The character development is nicely done, and we are given two flawed characters that are combustable together. They are magnets attracted to each other, yet they have problems. Loved the characters and the HEA.
Emotionally gripping…heart wrenching…a second chance.
Ms. Willow Winters knows how to make a reader experience all the feels. A talented writer who writes every story with passion. Madox and Sophie have a complicated past and a tumultuous present.
Love is strength. Love is power. Love is communication…which these two lack. This story is about two people wanting to be together who need to learn how to have a healthy relationship. Both have horrible examples as parents. Both have learned behaviors that have made their interactions with each other hurtful. Both have a love for each other which neither can share with the other.
A beautiful, yet messy, journey with Madox and Sophie that made my heart pound and root for a happy ending.
