She’s angry that I left. I’m angry that I died. It’s the trouble with our two lives: we don’t only have one past to work through, but two. Double the pain, twice the betrayal. A million times the tragedy. The Moon is the story of Merlin and Nimue from the New Camelot trilogy. It’s recommended that you read the trilogy first, as there are American King spoilers in The Moon.
Cards of Love: The Moon by Sierra Simone is part of a multi author project- Cards of Love, a series of love letters.
Cards of Love: The Moon is also part of her New Camelot Series and I highly recommend to read the other books first. The previous books are American Queen; American Prince; and American King.
The Moon is Merlin and Nimue’s story.
Merlin lived a lot of lives – and he remembers every single one. And in every single one Nimue is his nemesis. Everything in this story is connected and interwoven. Nimue and her relatives, – Merlin and his fate, – Greer, Embry and Ash.
The Moon takes place at the end of American King and contains some spoilers. For fullest reading experience I recommend to read the Trilogy first.
I read and loved the New Camelot Trilogy and I had high expectations for Merlin’s book. And what can I say, I was so not disappointed. I love how Merlin and Nimue interact, how they differ from each other and find common ground at the same time. The Moon is like nothing like the other books by Sierra Simone and very similar at the same time. I can’t express how much I love this story and how much I loved reading about Greer, Embry and Ash and get glimpses at their new lives.
The New Camelot Trilogy will always, always be my favorite rea, with The Moon a close second. I highly recommend the book and wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Cards of Love by Sierra Simone
Omg! I loved this so much! I went in this totally blind. I didn’t know anything much about it except it is written by a great author!! Its a short story about Merlin in The New Camelot series.
All I have to say, just read it for yourself, and find the great beauty of the story!
I binge read Merlin & Numue’s story. Absolutely loved it!!! It was the best kind of novella. A bite sized treat of intrigue, heat and emotions. I don’t want to say too much so I don’t spoil it for others but I will say it made me think about the real meaning of forever and I know I will reread and ponder Merlin’s story for a long time. Definitely recommend.
I am a huge, huge, huge fan of The Camelot Trilogy by Sierra Simone. The trilogy consumed me, and I loved all the characters. All of them. So, when I heard we were getting Merlin and Nimue’s story, I was all of over that! And let me tell you, I was not disappointed.
Without giving any spoilers, I was not sure how I felt about Merlin throughout the trilogy. He was an enigma, until the very end. Now we learn more about him, his wants, his desires and his downfall. We get to see the toll his life and choices have taken on him. He was both strong and vulnerable.
Nimue is angry and hurt, but she is not without her own faults. But she does not know the truths Merlin does. All she knows is that Merlin and his secrets call to her. But what will be the cost of being together?
I was delighted by The Moon by Sierra Moon. It was a tender and at times a sad story, but also one that was steamy and hot! Though you could technically read The Moon as a standalone, I would highly recommend reading the trilogy first to truly appreciate this story. That being said the trilogy and The Moon are must-reads and ones I highly recommend!
4.5 loved it stars! Happy reading!
5 Mystical Magical Moons
I won this ARC in Sierras group on fb and I was beside myself when I did!! I was beyond ecstatic!! This is Merlin’s Novella and shouldn’t be read without reading the trilogy first!
When I first read the New Camelot series, there was a part of me that absolutely hated Merlin, until the end, in which a lot of questions were answered and you found out that there was a method to his magic so to speak. This is a almost a romantic fantasy rather than a contemporary romance in my opinion and a totally new take on King Authur and Camelot. I always wanted to know more about him as he was the only one that knew what was going on and the only one that had any magical powers. Well Sierra answers ALL your questions in this hot lil look into his and Nimue’s life. She had me at the damn prologue!!!
She takes you on the fifteen hundred year journey of sweet Merlin and Nimue and the parallels of their lives in the “old” and “new” Camelot. We see a side to him that is unexpected and exceptionally HOT AF! Nimues role was equally as jaw-dropping for me (I totally was blown away)! We are dealing with two people that have lost the love of each other in more than one life. This love was so intense, and magnetic but it was also a struggle for magical power. It was so beautifully written and quite sad to me as my heart broke a little for Merlin because he had always, through hundreds of years, put his life and his needs to the side to make sure that Authurs/Ash’s destiny was fulfilled and willing to die for Nimue as well.
The epilogue was AMAZING and the authors note at the end answered even more questions and gave a few hints as to what is to come from Sierra! It was just a fabulous novella and I am so honored that I got to read this advanced copy!!!

What can be said about this novella of one of the characters from the New Camelot series? How about HOLY. HELL?!?
Okay Okay.
I have always had mixed feelings about Merlin. Never sure if he was good or evil. Helping or hurting. But to get his fun little HEA was everything I didn’t know I wanted. Again I’ll say HOLY. HELL!!
This is a quick, hot, pulse racing short story.
I will not give anything away. But will say it got very hot and wanted me to explore things I didn’t know I wanted to explore.
~I volunteered to read an advance copy.
I loved every second of this story. I always knew Merlin had a back story, I just never thought it would be this. We’ve met Merlin in the first three books of the New Camelot series. I loved him and his mysteriousness in those books. All that is explained in Cards of Love: The Moon. I will say…this is not a standalone. You should read the first three books before reading this one as there are spoilers in this book. You should read the first three books anyway, because they are amazing.
Merlin was everything I wanted him to be and more. I loved him. I love that he walked away from everything for love. He knew he and Nimue would never work unless he did. I loved getting to see a whole new side of Merlin and falling for him. He’s a great man. And Nimue…I wanted to dislike her so much, but in the end, I loved her. She was exactly what Merlin needed in his life. She was exactly what he’s always needed.
This book is everything and more. I love Sierra’s writing style and it carries over into this great story. I loved the deep meaningful love between the characters but also the dirty, dirty side of them. This book is hot, it’s sexy, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. At times I was angry. Angry with the situation, angry with Nimue, and angry with Merlin. Then my heart broke as things were revealed. I don’t want to give anything away about this story. Please check it out. I promise you will love it.
This my first Sierra Simone book was brilliant! I am a rebel and have not read the previous books in the New Camelot Series as is recommended, but they are now on my list to do so!
Nimue and Merlin are fantastic characters that show you love can transcend time! Well written with hot, steamy BDSM scenes that are so much a part of who these characters are!
Marvelous read!
Sierra Simone has Stolen My Heart Again!! Card of Love: The Moon is a Novella of Merlin and Nimue’ story of the New Camelot Series which I Highly recommend to Read them BEFORE indulging into this Lovely Gem!
It is a very short Read but So Much Intense Dark Sexual history between the two characters and alittle of Sierra’s Style of kinkiness entwined with past History of Wizardry. But it’s also a story of sacrifices, betrayal, lost loves and Selflessness. I also saw Merlin in a different light and felt his softer underbelly exposed for the love of his life!
I’m Not going to SPOIL ANYTHING for you and in order to understand where Sierra Simone is going with this EPIC Beautifully written short story….Must Read American Queen, American Prince and American King! You not be disappointed!! Plus You will have an Emotional Rollercoaster Ride of a Lifetime!!
I CANNOT WAIT TO READ WHAT SHE IS COOKING UP NEXT in NOVEMBER!!
Some time later, after I’ve finished eating and thoroughly explored the bedroom itself— there’s a dresser full of kilts and several shelves worth of books— the door opens. I can’t reach any closer than four or five feet away from it with the chain, but Nimue still pauses at the threshold before she comes in. In the glow of real light now, she’s painfully beautiful, and my body clenches remembering how she felt against me all those years ago.
Nearly a quarter of a century ago.
Fifteen centuries ago.
How strange to be the only person to remember such joy and pain. So much of both that fate nailed our souls together. And so much love that the earth shook with it.
After appraising me for a moment with her cerulean gaze, Nimue apparently decides I’m safe enough to for her to come inside the room, which she does without shutting the door. It makes me think that wherever we are, we’re the only ones in this house, which pleases me.
After almost twenty-three years, the thrill of being alone with her is a frantic one. I drink in everything about her as she comes closer. Her sky-blue eyes and silky hair. Her long neck and slender hands.
The lavender and botanical scent around her, as if she’s just come from a garden.
4.5 stars for – The Moon – part of the Cards Of Love series written by Sierra Simone that features Merlin and Nimue from The New Camelot Trilogy. This should NOT be read as a stand-alone to The New Camelot series as there are quite a few spoilers that can and will be revealed.
Merlin wakes up naked and bound with an odd sense of dejavu but having a good understanding of what exactly happened to put him in his current predicament he doesn’t panic. Especially not when the only person he has ever loved enters the room where he is being held and tells him she is the one holding him hostage. What transpires next takes them both on a long and dangerous journey with enough memories to last two lifetimes.
Sierra Simone is a master at writing sinful seduction in its most basic form. The pure carnal bliss that she can capture between two, three or even ten people will make it feel sexy and intimate every single time!
Can’t wait to read whatever she has planned for us next!
Omgosh we got Merlin!! I just loved this!! Read the American Queen series (Camelot series) first though. This was everything I was hoping for with his story!! You won’t be disappointed!!
Ugh!! I’m so obsessed with all the writings of Mrs Sierra Simone and this novella is no exception! If your read the new Camelot series, then you’ll be excited to know that Merlin finally gets the tell his tail and it was beautiful!
This story amoung all that Sierra writes is so well written, beautiful and riviting. Can’t wait for more from her!!
Merlin and Nimue’s story in The Moon was such a spellbinding and riveting addition to the New Camelot series… and if you haven’t read the Camelot series yet, I HIGHLY recommend that you do because it’s one of my favorites, and DO NOT read The Moon until you have.
As soon as I found out that Sierra was going to write another book in this series, I have been salivating for a taste of Merlin’s story. Everything about that man – his character, the story of his past and how he came to be, his present and his history with Nimue – has intrigued me when it was revealed who he truly was in American King, and it did not disappoint. Sierra Simone writes with such beautiful and almost poetic prose that I am utterly blown away by her words with every book of hers that I read.
In The Moon, she weaved a magical tale of second chances and it was so beautiful, passionate and kinky and had me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I’m so glad I got to see this side of Merlin because he always seemed so rigid in the previous books, and now I know why. His love for Nimue was unwavering, even when betrayed, and spanned across lifetimes. I absolutely loved it.
“You are so beautiful always,” I respond. “No matter what you’re doing. I’ve seen living magic and breathing legends, little moon, but you are the wonder of my eyes, you are the sight that steals my breath every single time.”
This review, like this book, will be short.
While reading the New Camelot trilogy, I did not like Merlin.
I didn’t like his high-handedness and his propensity to fuck everything up for Greer and make her feel bad. I didn’t think he would get a story, because I didn’t think there was any story to tell. I just thought he was a high-handed prick who liked to control his surroundings and people in it. Did I think Merlin had a back story? No. Did I think he had this kind of back story? Hell no. Sierra, obviously, did. And what a wonderful story it is.
Merlin, is not of this world. Or rather, Merlin comes from a different time, and he is here to serve his purpose. There is magic at work here, and any way he looks at it Merlin is doomed. Doomed to love the same woman, and doomed to die the same death. There was a reason for the way Merlin acted in the previous books. Everything was timed. All the ups and downs of Ash-Greer-Embry had to happen the way it did. Did this finally make me like Merlin?
No, not really. Nimue made me like Merlin. She made me feel endeared to the man who loved one woman his whole life, and lived his whole life knowing he couldn’t have her. I love how he submitted to her (yes Nimue is a sadist!). Their love for each other made me see the other side of him. And finally, I could connect with him.
Nimue was fantastic. She gave as good as she got. But she was flawed and made mistakes that cost her. She made Merlin suffer, the way she’d been suffering. It was beautiful really.
Sierra has once again written erotica that is smart. The people who say that’s not possible, should really read these books. And, the sex… Well, you know she’s the queen of that too.
5 stars.
Sierra Simone introduced you to her interpretation of Merlin in her New Camelot series, three books that set everything you knew about King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Sir Lancelot on a tilt-a-whirl. In this searingly hot novella, Simone shows you an entirely unexpected interpretation of Merlin, and it is DELICIOUS.
You get more background on Merlin and Nimue, and you even learn a little more about Ash, Greer, and Embry. It’s great fun revisiting old friends, and it made me want to go back and re-read that series.
In her Afterward, Sierra Simone says that she picked the Moon as her card for the Cards of Love series (featuring novellas by different authors) because of its illusion and subconscious fear. Both of those are at play here, with Merlin’s magic and that sort of scary, imposing side of him thrown back on that tilt-a-whirl.
And let me just say that this book is sooooooooooo erotic. Enticingly, searingly erotic.
If you haven’t read the New Camelot series, never fear. You don’t need to have done to read this. However, there are some spoilers in here, so if you intend on reading the series, do so before you read Merlin’s story.
If you’ve read The New Camelot series then you know of Merlin, what you don’t know about his life we get in this beautiful tale.
If your looking for a quick read that will have you aching for more Cards Of Love ,The Moon is that story! Sexy, provocative, sometimes tragic, romance that is wicked hot.
No one can ignite your imagination with classic tales spun around betrayal, and romance like Sierra Simone.
Gosh.. the magnitude effect from the Moon was crazy… mystical..a consumed love!! It was mystical… full of magical moments.. the illusion of time..
Merlin and Nimue was the start for everything.. the beginning.. the process… through the end..They were the first love.. blindly in love… the story was breathtaking..Loving someone is a rollercoaster emotions..
Sierra brought the best of mix feelings.. it was beyond seductive… despite the anger for revenge.. it was so good.. I cant hardly stop it..
*****This is the icing on the cake called New Camelot*****
This book is beyond everything I wanted after the New Camelot trilogy. At the end of American King, I had the utmost respect for Merlin. But by the end of this book? Utmost love and adoration.
He’s gone above and beyond his expectations, his love is boundless, his character is impeccable, his integrity is unquestionable. His ill-timed meetings with Nimue are necessary. Each one is unique in its own way and feeds the reader’s curiosity.
The kinks are deliciously described, and Nimue is a fierce woman. I love how each is giving in his or her own way. Their journey to healing is sacrificial and cathartic.
This is what Sierra Simone does best- she builds a world and entrances you with her words. All.The.Time.
This was a quick read.
Part of The New Camelot Series. So if you have not read the rest of the series I suggest you hold off on this novella.
Sierra Simone nailed it again. I was so excited for Merlin and Nimue’s story and she did not let me down. It filled in so many questioned I had about the two of them. And I saw a whole other side of both characters. It was intense and kinky. Sierra Simone style. I don’t want to say to much because I don’t want to give anything away. It is definitely worth the read. And I am so excited for what she has planned next.
It is so wonderful that Sierra wrote another book about characters in her beloved New Camelot series.
In this book, we get Merlin and Nimue’s story… both current relationship – as well as what happened in the past oh so long ago.
In the prior books that Merlin was in, he seemed so manipulative and causing things to veer from where I wanted them to. But in this book, you see a different side – find out things that are surprising, shocking and swoon worthy. A man in love who thinks he knows what is going to happen, and is prepared to stay in the moment and do whatever his love wants.
Nimue doesn’t know anything about the past. But she is drawn to Merlin – craves him and wants to fully control him. Definitely not what I had expected at all.
I loved this return to the New Camelot world. I have read other works about the legends and totally love Sierra’s twist on it. She has a way of bringing characters to life – feeling their highs and lows, as well as their loves and losses. Read this!! You will be as enthralled as I was.
