She’s angry that I left. I’m angry that I died. It’s the trouble with our two lives: we don’t only have one past to work through, but two. Double the pain, twice the betrayal. A million times the tragedy. The Moon is the story of Merlin and Nimue from the New Camelot trilogy. It’s recommended that you read the trilogy first, as there are American King spoilers in The Moon.
Five moony-stars! This book is magical with capital letter M.
For magic’s sake! Am I dreaming? I am still dizzy and highly high. Cards of Love: The Moon by talented Sierra Simone screwed my mind up in the sweetest and forbidden way possible. Damn it! This book is every book addict’s wet dream. Each word, each chapter, the original plot, wonderful characters & the sinful cover make it impossibly perfect & unique. This book charmed my dark and romantic heart. It also sent a spell direct to my soul. I kept turning pages desperate to devour everything about this magnificent book. I was bewitched by the strong, dirty, sexy & hot writing that left me literally on the MOON. Sierra Simone has done a devastating work with this book.
This book will seduce every part of your body. It will take you to a magical world full of love, lust, loss and unforgettable regrets. It is an intense journey where magic make second chances brutally explosive. Sierra Simone enchanted me with her tempting writing and brilliant story. Only she can create unforgettable characters and all-consuming books. Reading a Sierra’s book is a thrilling experience nobody should miss. Cards of Love: The Moon is an illusion, it is a reinterpretation of Merlin & Nimue’s story in a kinky powerful way where age gap, power, sacrifices, love and dirty sex are packed in a fiery masterpiece.
Since I heard Merlin was having his own book I was really excited because he was an important character in The Camelot Series which by the way is the best series and I highly recommend it! Beware that this book has some important spoilers so it is important to read The Camelot Series before reading The Moon for a more enjoyable experience. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed because Sierra’s books are utterly enthralling.
The Moon. LA LUNE a toujours été associée à l’amour éternel et porte une auréole de mystère autour de lui. La magie se produit lorsque la lune mûrit pour devenir une forme complète … C’est plus!
Cards of Love: The Moon was a quick and sexy story giving us Merlin and Nimue’s story. In the New Camelot trilogy, Merlin plays a big part arranging the chess pieces so that Ash’s life plays out the way destiny intended. But with being so busy in the background, he’s overlooked actually living his own life.
This book is his story of what happened the last time he loved and the second chance he’s given to find his own happiness.
Like with the New Camelot trilogy, this book has a very high heat level and wonderfully ties up the lives of these characters in a magnificent shiny bow.
Cards Of Love: The Moon is intense, erotic and magical!
From page one I was swept into this book and couldn’t put it down!
We met Merlin in The New Camelot Trilogy. I highly recommend reading that series first. He was interesting, and intriguing then and now we get to unravel the mystery that is Merlin!
It is a story that spans over not just time, but it is an intricate weaving of Merlin and Nimue’s souls through the many lives they have led that are forever intertwined.
Together, Merlin and Nimue are surrounded by a cloud of magic that only fuels their connection and brings a whole new sensuality and intensity to what has always flowed between them. They share their minds, bodies and souls, but they also share two pasts and hopefully a future carrying each other’s burdens and magic. Through that they give the other the strength and love that their ageless connection has always needed.
Firstly if you have not read the New Camelot Trilogy then I would recommend you stop and do so prior to reading this book as there are spoilers for American King within.
Cards of Love: The Moon is Merlin and Nimue story and oh what a story it is!
This will be one of those reviews that does not give anything away. As I have found previously from a book by Sierra Simone, expect the unexpected.
Merlin intrigued me from his first appearance in the New Camelot Trilogy and I was thrilled when I heard that he was getting his story. The Moon gives us an insight into Merlin’s past and how he morphed into the character we came to know in the trilogy.
Merlin is so charismatic that you cannot help but be mesmerised by him and his story and Nimue is absolutely the one for him.I was riveted from the first chapter to the the amazing last chapter.
All I will say is that if I were you and you are a fan of the New Camelot Trilogy then you are going to love the addition of Merlin and Nimue’s story, I know I did.
It’s been DAYS since I’ve inhaled THE MOON by Sierra Simone and still words elude me. Holy hell. I didn’t know how much I needed Merlin and Nimue’s story – it had me over the top emotional again about all things New Camelot. And Nimue… that woman is a kinky force all of her own. Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever read about a heroine like her.
New Camelot is one of the handful of series I don’t think I’ll ever, ever recover from. Ash, Embry and Greer still linger in my mind, even a year after reading it. That being said, Merlin as well as Nimue play an integral part in their story, and with THE MOON taking place close to the end of AMERICAN KING, I strongly advise against reading it before the rest of the series – it would only majorly spoil the experience for you!
Merlin was always the one character I had mixed feelings about. Was he good? Was he evil? What were his motives? Even knowing the King Arthur saga, I wasn’t at all sure of the purpose Ms. Simone intended for him. He was mysterious and elusive. But then there was this tiny glimpse into his ancient life and his powerful magic at the end of the series, and I was intrigued and hungered for more.
The novellas stilled that hunger rudimentary. I could have read on and on about Merlin telling Nimue about their past lives layered with war, love and passion – but also with his ultimate demise, about Merlin’s foreshadowing of history repeating itself once more, of his undying and unconditional love and devotion for Nimue, not caring about his own tomorrow, about Nimue’s kinky and sadistic fire, her dominant elegance and unwavering determination to get what she wants. She didn’t only dominate Merlin, but definitely my mind too, in the most delicious of ways.
Both characters took me so much by surprise, both revealing facets I never would have imagined they had, all while utterly breaking me with their seemingly impossible future.
It’s a spellbinding tale laced with not only magic, mystery and history, but also betrayal, pain and, ultimately, undying love to leave you breathless. I’m not even getting into how scorching their sex was… it’s a surreal experience all on its own.
A tale of epic love that conquers the boundaries of time.
I was not sure how I would feel about Merlin going into this with how I am still reeling from American King and everything that happened. Merlin for me in the trilogy had me loving to hate him and I was not sure I could look around that. But, as with any Sierra Simone book, you always need an open mind and a few hours to really see what magic she is able to spin.
That is what this book is – magical. From the first sentence I knew I was going to devour this to find out what would happen to Merlin and Nimue.
“My work—the sole aim and focus of my fifty years—is finished. There’s nothing waiting to be done, no more battles left to fight on Ash’s behalf.”
Getting to see what drives Merlin and what ultimate sacrifices he has made to ensure that our American Queen, Prince, and King were able to fulfill their destinies was a way for me to reconcile why he did what he did.
Merlin finally getting his second(third?) chance with Nimue and finding out how intertwined their souls are was amazing. Sierra has a way with words that starts with a light feathering touch and then grabs you by the you-know-whats and does not let go until she is pleased with your mutual experience, much like Nimue.
If you have read the New Camelot Trilogy or you are just stumbling across them now, pick this up, read the books in order and then send Sierra a thank you note.
I hardly ever give a novella a 5-star rating but THIS one? Five stars aren’t enough.
Merlin & Numue’s story was incredible. Yes it was SUPER sexy, but you’d be missing the whole point of the story if you only focused on that.
It’s a story of sacrifice, love lost and regained, confusion, betrayal, but most importantly the love between those two was epic. Selfless.
Merlin has my heart. Thank you Sierra for this incredible story!!!
I would have heard your voice anywhere.”
Holy freaking wow! My love for Sierra Simone’s wizadry continues to grow. This was a wild ride that left me positively spellbound! I don’t care what Sierra writes, I’ll be there to read it. As always her storytelling gift shines brightly.
I’m a certified Arthurian Legend fanatic, so this was right down my alley. It’s a fantastical account of Merlin and Nimue’s history. It’s erotic and decadent. Intriguing and downright entertaining. Oh and quite kinky!
The writing is brilliant! The characters are…WOW. And…there are mentions of our favorite couple. I always love that! It’s a quick read, novella length, but reads like fully fleshed out story.
If you’re a fan of the New Camelot series, this is a Must Read!
As always Ms. Simone’s New Camelot world leaves me breathless. I love Merlin, he’s been one of my favorite characters from the beginning and I’m so glad he finally got his own story.
Sierra Simone excites the heart and mind with this brilliant love story. A story that spans centuries. Full of the extreme heat that only she can write. This is Merlin and Nimue’s tale.
Merlin sacrificed his magic, and himself for the only love he will ever know. He gave his life in the service of his King and President. Nimue was bound to her mother’s will and gave up her heart to carry on. Not until the present, does she recognize that her deepest, darkest desire is to capture Merlin in every conceivable way. They share a deep past that floats like the mist on the lake of eons ago. Now they revel in the light that only the moon can create.
4 Stars
Cards of Love: The Moon is a companion piece to the New Camelot Trilogy and needs to be read after it, because it contains spoilers to American King.
This is the story of Merlin and Nimue and definitely not what I was expecting. It’s well-written and while Ms. Simone writes some of the hottest MF scenes I’ve read, I simply couldn’t get past that I hated Nimue and the way she treated Merlin. I didn’t mind Merlin being submissive to her, but I could stand Nimue in any of her two impersonations and that dampened my enjoyment of the book. Still, perhaps you’ll feel differently, so give it a try.

Holy hell! What an amazing, spellbinding tale from Sierra Simone. With just the few words contained in the blurb along with the reference to Merlin and Nimue from the New Camelot Trilogy and I knew I wouldn’t be able to pass Cards of Love: The Moon by the wayside.
As a humungous fan of New Camelot Trilogy, I couldn’t wait to finally see what Merlin was about, where he came from, the history of the iconic, influential advisor to Maxen, Aubry and Greer. And it was SO much more than I expected.
I will not spoil the experience of reading Cards of Love: The Moon for those who still need to read it. And trust me, fans of the New Camelot Trilogy must read this book. So many lingering questions are answered. And the romance between Merlin and Nimue is epic. And life lasting.
When Sierra Simone ended the Camelot trilogy and was heartbroken. Those characters had weaved their way into my soul and I wasn’t ready to let go. When I saw that she was telling Merlin’s story in the Cards of Love books, I couldn’t wait to get my greedy hands on it.
Merlin and Nemue’s story is dark and absolutely sinful and I loved every stinkin minute of it. For a novella, there was a full story here and it absolutely held me spellbound. Incredible story in my much loved world. I need more! Great read.
Sierra Simone does it again with Merlin and Nimue’s story, and the journey she takes us one is shocking, to say the least, but ultimately leads Merlin home.
Merlin needs something – now that Ash, Embry, and Greer have finally found each other he knows its time for him to go down his own path. His path leads to Nimue – the one who can hurt him and has many times over the years. That being said he surrenders to Nimue in this life in ways I never expected – especially since when we knew him before in the New Camelot trilogy is very different than the man we meet in The Moon.
I loved that the roles changed so drastically in Merlin’s story and Nimue takes her role very seriously. The book is definitely short but its oh so sweet and so well written with great dialog and exposition. Everything I have come to expect from a great Sierra Simone story.
“It was only ever her. It was only ever going to be her.”
New Camelot Trilogy by Sierra Simone is by far one of my favorite series and just the thought that Merlin was going to get his own little story had me beyond excited. Leave it to Sierra Simone to deliver another addicting, erotic romance. I couldn’t have been more happy with what I read between these pages. <3
**Keep in mind that this novella does have spoilers from the previous books. **
Only Sierra can take us between worlds… between centuries of time and have us fall in love with the same characters in both realms of time. We met Merlin in the New Camelot series, and frankly I didn’t care too much for him until American King. But after reading his story and learning his life, it brings new light onto why he’s been the closed off cold man he is. He and Nimue are a different kind of love story, but I love that they’ve found each. She is his other half, what completes him. Learning that she’s been who he’s loved all his life… throughout both of his lives and that he’s waited and longed for her breaks your heart. Reading their coming together and her realization of how their lives have always intertwined it amazing. Sierra is such an incredible writer as that she can take a story from history and put such a modern spin on it. Make us all wonder and imagine for how those times were/could have been like only she can. Do not read this unless you’ve read the New Camelot series as it has spoilers!! But, READ THIS! I fell in love with Merlin as Nimue did centuries ago and now.
This book is part of the New Camelot series and does contain spoilers if you have not read the first 3 books of the series. This book tells the story of the relationship between Merlin and Nimue and begins after a major event that occurs in American King (Book 3 of the New Camelot series). This book is primarily told from the POV of Merlin (the epilogue is in Nimue’s POV). Honestly, Merlin was not one of my favorite characters in American Queen and American Prince, but I started to like him in American King. Given my initial dislike of Merlin, Sierra wrote this story in such a way that I could -feel- Merlin’s emotions and fully sympathize and empathasize for him. My heart hurt for him when he described the depth of his love for Nimue even though he knew their story would not have a happy ending. BUT, their story does have a happy ending, partly due to Nimue’s refusal to let their story end any other way. The Moon is more of a novella than a full length book, but Sierra tells Merlin and Nimue’s story so well that I didn’t feel like I was missing anything or that I wished she had went into more detail about some things. I will say that the sex scenes in this book are not as long and detailed as the scenes in American King (if you’ve read that book ), but they do not lack in hotness. I’m a big fan of Sierra’s work and this novella is another fantastic read from her.
This book was not what I was expecting at all, while, somehow, at the same time being everything I expected and more. Nimue and Merlin were two characters in the New Camelot Trilogy that were shrouded in mystery and mysticism. Their story was playing out in the background of everything that was Embry, Ash and Greer (I’m obsessed with them) and I was intrigued, I needed to know more about them and I’m so glad they got their own story!
This story is scorching hot and not in the typical way. Sierra knows how to write sexy, nasty, delicious, romantic, all the feelings, outside the box stories and Nimue and Merlin absolutely do not stray from any of that. If anything they took it to the next level, this story is everything. And I absolutely adored the Arthurian legend aspect of it, it just added that extra layer of all the things. This is an absolute must read (after you’ve read the first three in the series of course!)!
The story is about Merlin and Nimue from the New Camelot trilogy.
I first read the New Camelot series, I hated Merlin. In the end of the book all the questions were answered and you found about his magic so to speak. When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Sierra Simone is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. This was everything I have come to expect from Sierra Simone. A continuation of the new Camelot series featuring Merlin and Nimue, star-crossed lovers if ever there were a pair.
Sierra’s writing is lush, rich and intense. You do not have to read for long before you are drawn into the scene. In this case, we’re very rapidly transported to a setting from which there appears no HEA. From this place, through the mind of one character we watch a struggle unfold, a mixture of pain and pleasure, not just sexually (although it is all that and then some too–the sex in this book is HOT AS SIN) but emotionally as the character comes to terms with what will happen.
This battle consumes a substantial portion of the book, and in the hands of lesser authors might be tedious in all honesty. But not in Sierra’s mind, her words. The lushness of what we read draws us further in, keeps us engaged, prepares us for one truth while teasing us with a question. What happened?
Then we find out, things fall into place, and new realities emerge. The book ends with the HEA, super kinky and gives us the other character briefly in the form of an epilogue. Enough to make you want more, always more. Cause you know it would be super hot.
