After discovering she can’t have children, Lydia Ryder has all but convinced herself that she doesn’t need a family to be happy. All she needs is her camera, her passport, and a damn good manicure. And maybe, maybe a sexy male travel companion. But when her job as a magazine photographer lands her in the small town of Maple Grove, NH, a precocious ten year old and her single father barge into … Lydia’s life, turning what she thinks she wants onto its head. In this town full of happily ever afters, Lydia finds herself wishing for things she had sworn off long ago…
When Cameron Tripp’s wife passed away from heart disease, he thought he’d never find love again. He certainly never would have expected a woman like Lydia Ryder to waltz into his life and awaken his dormant heart and libido. But despite his better judgment, Cam finds himself drawn to the vivacious and argumentative outsider. He quickly learns that, like him, she knows all about misplaced trust, heartbreak, and how quickly a family can fall apart if you let it.
As impassioned arguments morph into frenzied kisses, the two wonder if one week can ever be enough. Despite lacking a maternal side, can Lydia connect with his ten year old daughter? And when Cameron finally learns the truth behind Lydia’s past career, the trust he worked so hard to build crumbles once again. With such doubts filling their minds, is there any hope that Lydia and Cameron will be able to start a new life together?

This is the first novel I’ve read by this author and it definitely will not be my last. The fact that I could feel the characters heartbreak and happiness speaks volumes of this authors talent. Cam and Lydia had some big obstacles to overcome, but with the help of a sweet little girl they didn’t stand a chance of not getting over them.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This one about Lydia and her career and the ups and downs of a photojournalist. Cam and his life now as a single dad to his daughter Maddie and his struggles and the help he gets from his family. A standalone read but keeps your interest from start to finish.
wow. This book had great characters. Deep and strong. There was so much life in this book. Life lessons, mistakes, and searching for what to do now. A couple steamy scenes.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I really enjoyed this well-written, small-town romance! Only a couple of chapters in and I was already in love with Cam.
Reading this was like watching a movie play out in front of me. With situations so real in the little town of Maple Grove, this story grabbed me by the heart and didn’t let go.
The author gives us Cam & Lydia, who are so easy to fall in love with. I felt an instant connection. The chemistry between them sparkled. Watching their relationship go from attraction to annoyance back to attraction, then to can’t-stop-thinking-about-each-other was entertaining and enjoyable.
I absolutely fell in love with Cam’s daughter, Maddie, as well as the rest of his family. When Lydia thought she wasn’t good with kids, watching her interact and bond with Maddie was endearing and made me want to squeeze them both.
This story was so good, so real, with characters that stole my heart. Looking forward to reading Steve’s book, Healing You!
A very somber emotional story. There are some great moments, and it ends happy. But there are a lot of heavy moments too.
Reporter and widowed father find love after some strange circumstances. Too much explicit sex.
I enjoyed the book but did have difficulty suspending my disbelief in the story line. If someone hurts a family member badly, can you really forgive and forget so easily? Other than that, it was a good read.
Great
Lydia saw Cam the first time in the worst day of her life. But then doesn’t see him again until she goes to Maple Grove for a charity auction that sets up artist in residency and school children. Cam’s daughter started it for The American Heart Association after her mom died young from a bad heart. She is in 5th grade but she is smart. Little did Lydia know that her boss was from Maple Grove and looking to make Cam look bad.
Good romantic story line but the sex scenes were way too graphic and repetitive. It got old .
Enjoyed the book!!!
Loved it!
I read TONS of books but this is by far the best I’ve read in weeks! I love this author. I was captivated from the beginning with its style, story, and characters. I loved the main character, Lydia, and her journey to do the right thing. The story holds true to life circumstance yet is very original in its plot. You will not be disappointed if you read this book!!
Little plot.
I liked this book. It was pretty predictable but still entertaining,
I loved it!
