Loved reading this book keeps your interest throughout. Didn’t put it down until I finished. Worth the long into the night finish.
I only got a couple chapters in as I couldn’t get passed the Scottish brogue the H “spoke” in. It was very distracting from the story.
Franchement catastrophique. Navrant.
Great book wonderful characters well written
Well let’s see. This book is filled with promise. I loved the story plot. The plot caught my attention and held on for dear life to the last word of the book. I enjoyed the book, however the writer will need to review for miss spelled words or words that gave no meaning to the sentence.
I was not thrilled with the jumping around of characters in one scene and then they are in a next scene in the next paragraph, only to go back to the original scene from the first paragraph. Work on these few things and I’m sure people will more books from this author.
Very good book
I loved the story of Amelia. The adventure begins with Amelia having to find a way to support herself and her mother when her father was taken to Debtor’s Prison. There were not many things a lady could do to earn a proper living. She was happy to discover that a Lady was looking for a companion. That was a lovely occupation that she could do and would then earn enough to support herself and her mother. The cottage that she and her mother would be renting was on their land. It was in that job that she met Laird James. Jamie and his best friend William made a bet as to how long and how she would fall in love with him. Jamie did not realize that something like that bet could come back to haunt him later on. The story has many twists and turns, even an evil villain came into the mix. I loved the story with all its twists. The best part by far was how the evil cousin got his just desserts. The story explores the play of emotions of Jamie and Amelia as their love grows and blossoms. A very good read for sure.
Kenna Kendrick unfolds another breath taking adventure so vividly you can almost believe your there. I absolutely loved it!
Lady Amelia from London and her mother escape to the Scottish countryside after her father is thrown in Debtor’s jail and her fiancé dumps her. Amelia is a very resourceful woman and becomes a companion to the Laird Jamie’s mother. The attraction between Amelia and Jamie is strong, even though they both fight and deny it. This is a timely tale about the secrets that are kept and the bad and then good that can happen when secrets are brought into the light. I really liked this story and it had several steamy moments.
Red Robin
I received this book as an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A nice highlander story with not too many typos. The characters and dialogue were good. Unfortunately, the female protagonist Amelia is an idiot; keeping secrets from and spying on her one true love — even signing a “contract” proving her deceit. Also, the multiple erotic scenes were unnecessary and gratuitous. They changed a well written romantic tale to pornography.
This book was one fantastic read with a well written storyline and characters that were so well developed that I couldn’t stop turning the pages until the very end! There hasn’t been one book that this author has written that I haven’t enjoyed reading!
Having read this author once before I enjoyed alot I was happy to jump into this one. Right from the start it has a good beginning.
Amelia goes from one way of life to another due to life and stuff happens. The thing though in those times is a woman had limited choices so away she goes to start again. Oh my when Jamie comes into the picture the heart will begin to race a bit.
Life’s drama comes again with us keeping our nose into this one. You are carried away by what unfolds hoping for the best with the rest getting knocked out. Things do go fast which is just how this should go. You fall in love with the characters also. Funny how life took her on a adventure in itself. The bonus is we got one also.
Family Jealousy
If you enjoy stories about highlanders that are brawny and bold then Jaimie is the Scot for you to read about. This story takes place a few years after the battle with the English and those that survived are trying to make their land sustainable.
Amelia is the daughter of a viscount that has fallen on hard times. I found her to be a bit annoying in the beginning of the book but she does improve upon with further reading.
There are other characters that help wound out this story some you will love others you just might hate.
Overall I did enjoy this book.
This is the second book I have read by Kenna Kendrick. I really enjoy her writing style. This book deal with Lady Amelia Parker. Amelia is engaged to a English lord that turns out to be a complete cad. Amelia’s father has lost his entire fortune as well his London house due to gambling. Amelia and her mother finds this out after they received a letter from her father that hi is in jail and they are now penniless and that they need to leave their London home in less than 48 hrs. He has made arrangements for them to travel to Scotland where he has arranged a cottage for them to rent.
The cottage ends up being on the estate of Laird James Kinncaid, who lost his father and uncle at the last battle for Scotland at Culloden. Jamie was not executed for treason because his Mother, Fiona, is from a prominent English family but he does lose his title. Fiona is lonely and tells Jamie she want to hire a companion. And, coincidentally, Amelia is looking for a way to support herself as well as her mother. She gets the job and they become fast friends. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for her and Jamie. Amelia ends up living at the castle which ends up creating an very interesting dynamics between Amelia and Jamie.
As for the required villain, that is Jamie’s cousin Donald that never accepted that Jamie became the Laird instead of him. What a slimeball. But it makes for an additional storyline.
Bottom line, I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it. I bought this book directly from Amazon and this is a voluntary book review.
Another great read from Kenna Kendrick!
Just goes to show that life can throw a nasty wrench in all your plans ! In this case a lovable but unlucky gambling father!
Follow Amelia’s saga as she goes from society miss , engaged to marry a peer, to fleeing to the Highlands where her life begins anew and a new romance with a man who just entices, infuriates and charms her no end.
And let’s not forget a meddlesome evil sibling decides to wreak havoc on Amelia and Jamie!
Love Kenna’s books , and aside from my life interfering in my timely reading , this was another book well worth you, fellow readers, taking the time to enjoy!
This ARC was gifted to me and this is my honest review freely given.Kenna Kendrick
Another great read by Kenna Kendrick who once again delivers! She does a fantastic job developing her characters and story line and brings it to life with her descriptive writing and detailed scenes. She takes you back to Medieval times and makes you feel as though you are there. She brings drama and intrigue, suspense and danger twists and turns along with a beautiful romance. The story flows fluidly and had me hooked from start to finish reading. I loved and highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I enjoyed this book due to the wonderful characters. I easily could feel the emotions expressed that they were each going through. I also liked that the Highlander males are a bit more brash then the women from London. I thought their first encounter was very funny! I was definitely laughing out loud!
Great characters!
Romance, suspense, a little humor. A young English lady and her Mother left penniless d/t her Father’s gambling. He managed to rent them a small cottage in Scottland. Now there is a Scottish castle, a laird of the clan, and a villain. There are 3 or 4 love scenes you may or may not want to skip over. I’m a skipper. The young lady goes from being a pampered engaged lady to the bread winner for her and her sickly Mother. Will love win out in the end? Will the villain win? Will the Father rot in debtors prison? Only one way to find out.
