A heartwarming love story that has you rooting for the triad from beginning to end. I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put it down.
Ronin (he is Marcus’s friend) and his wife Julia (she is Ethan’s friend) both have painful things that they went through in their pasts. They have moved on and found each other. They both love each other beyond most anything even if they feel like there is a piece missing. They have discussed bringing a 3rd into their relationship in the future, but neither knew that that future might be now. Kincaid is a part of Ronin’s past, but he has come to town in the hopes of being able to at least move on. Even if he had hopes for his former love to be able to forgive him. But when he comes to town, Ronin and Julia realize exactly what they might have been missing all along, and now have to help Kincaid move on from the past so they can move into the future, together.
Ok so I was slightly confused as to where this couple fit into this series. I honestly had forgotten about these characters, but it did get cleared up right way for me! I was slightly iffy about the premise of bringing in a 3rd for an already established relationship, it almost felt like they were cheating to me. But everything is completely discussed between all parties involved, and they all make the decision together on what they not only wanted but needed. I think that is another reason why I love this author’s books so much, she isn’t afraid to go against what society considers the norm in order for her characters to find the happiness they not only want but in a way that fulfills their needs. I really liked this story and the way everything played out between them all. I just wish it had been longer since I feel like they had so much more that could have been said between them all! Still a great read!
A wonderful novella. Ronin and Julia had been in love for years and that had not changed. They had no issues. Julia had problem parents, but he supported her completely. When Kincaid walked back into Ronin’s life, life got more complicated, but stronger and love grew again. The story had love, relationship issues, and a stronger triad because of all of it. A true Montgomery story that I will read again. I got this book from the author for an honest review
Meant to be three
I’ve always had a special place in my heart for a ginger, and who wouldn’t love Kincaid. He still carries so much pain from a past he only has hopes of moving beyond, but the author had just a little more in store for him. I love that these three characters came together, Ronin and Julia have this fantastic relationship and Kincaid just adds another layer of depth that was the icing on the cake. This author knows how to use her words to the best effect, and she did not let me down with the stories and emotions she was able to develop in such a few number of pages. This series is fast becoming one of my favorites and I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next.
This was a delight quick read. As the title says it captures them it also does the same to us with Julia, Ronin and Kincaid. The dynamics capture us as we see the relationships build and grow. This author knows how to weave it all together with the pieces she gives us. The kicker too is the second chance that comes into play. To get to witness that is a good part of the reward in this.
This is a delicate, edgy and modern book about a couple who is happy, but it is lacking something in their lives.
Some night they are at home when his ex-boyfriend tries to reach after several years to atone and ask for his forgiveness. Their connection is so great that Julia, Ronin’s wife, sees an opportunity to include this man, Kincaid, in their love life and they began to fall in love.
Carrie-Ann Ryan knows how to write books about triads, and she has a delicate hand in writing and developing these characters, they are so human and compassionate.
A lovely story and I just loved it!
Super hot book mmf
The is a ménage/reverse harem/ triad book. This is actually one of the first books I have read that introduces a third to an already committed relationship. Really good at introducing some Montgomery’s without too much info. There are a lot of them. Each of the 3 have some sort of trauma. Julia has issues with her parents because of her sister dying with cancer. Ronin is close to his family but he is an amputee. Kincaid was an alcoholic who lost his sister in a war torn country where he was injured as well.
Great writing. Good shorter book, but I didn’t feel like the story was rushed.
Love is love is love…
Beautifully written menage between three wounded people. You feel the connection they have from the moment Julia opens the door. Kincaid is no longer the person Ronin knew and once loved all those years ago. But he is back, and Ronin is not sure why. Julia is accepting and ready to help these men heal. If you are unsure of this genre, I encourage you to pick it up and give it a try. The author shows us how special a triad’s love can be and how love knows no limits.
CAPTURED IN INK by Carrie Ann Ryan. This was a wonderful novella – I enjoyed it so that I truly wished it was longer. Ronin, Julia and Kincaid are terrific. Ms. Ryan does a phenomenal job of showing the reader how a triad works and how important communication is. All three characters have had hard times in their pasts. Julia and Ronin are happily married, yet feel something (or someone) is missing. Kincaid is from Ronin’s past and boy, is he yummy. I loved that Ms. Ryan works through all the ups and downs, including from outside forces. Once again, Ms. Ryan has penned a story that had me cheering and crying and everything in between. (received ARC for honest review).
Wonderful poly romance! A genuinely moving second chance at love for Ronin and Kincaid as well as amazing new beginnings for Kincaid and Julia, and Ronin, Julia and Kincaid as a throuple. These three are wonderful together. I’m impressed, but not surprised, that the author managed to create a valid, believable throuple in the short timespan of a novella. My heart ached for Ronin and Kincaid both because of the pain and missed chances in their past, but it was very rewarding to see them work through that and open up to each other again, with the help of Ronin’s wife. Julia is awesome. I adore her for how brave she is, especially on an emotional level, how loving and understanding. As always in a Carrie Ann Ryan novel the connection between the main characters is heartfelt, nuanced and compelling. Recommend!
Omg I absolutely loved reading about Ronin, Julia and Kincade. Their story was absolutely beautiful in unfolding even with the with the emotional pulls. I loved every second of this read. Carrie Ann Ryan has a way about her writing no matter the style to draw you in and spit your emotions out like your witness I absolutely love the HEA.
Julia and Ronin are married, happy and withered the storm stronger for it but when Kincaid comes back looking for Ronin the issues and feelings he brings with him is something that everyone has to deal with not knowing where the outcome will lead to. The way this story flowed was perfect

Best triad romance I have read in a very long time! Captured Ink by the lovely Carrie Ann Ryan is a 1001 Dark Night special, and if you don’t know what that is, look it up! The ladies leading that are as boss as they get.
Ronin, Kincade and Julia span years together and they have always had a connection that not even time seems to weaken. I don’t want to give away anything, but Captured Ink is a sweet and spicy read that will warm your heart and ignite your emotions. As always Carrie Ann Ryan gives her characters such life that they feel like true real people, the struggle, the heartache, and the love all feel like your best friend is sitting on the sofa next to you telling you about it.
As a die hard Carrie fan I give this four out of five stars simply because I wanted more of them, the plot is great and the struggle for love is so true and relatable. Way to go girl!
4.5-loved it stars!
I absolutely love reading Carrie Ann Ryan and have been reading her for a while, though I have to admit that I need to catch up on her Montgomery Ink series. Captured in Ink, a 1001 Dark Nights novella, is a great introduction for those that have not read the series yet or a great treat for those who have read them all.
Julia and Ronin are happy and in love, but also feel like there may be something missing. Enter Kincaid. He was hoping for a second chance with Ronin but found something so much more. Can the three of them find their way to happiness? Their journey was emotional, touching and full of the feels.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Julia and Ronin are married and a very happy couple but when Kincaid comes back after leaving Ronin years ago. Ronin moved on and tried to forget, but Kincaid showing up at their door turned all their lives upside down. Julia and Ronin realize they both want to welcome Kincaid into their lives. There are a lot of things that try to keep them apart but if they listen to their hearts will they find their happiness all together.
This book was an absolute emotional roller coaster. From beginning to end, I was in tears one moment, and laughing out loud the next. These characters were wonderful, and I totally enjoyed them, but their story isn’t an easy one. Each character is emotionally damaged, to different extents, and their journey isn’t all sunshine and roses! It’s hard to set aside the past, and grab the future with both hands, and trying to do so with a ménage, well that is an impossible task.
Julia and Ronin have a wonderful marriage. But they both know something is missing. They’ve talked about it. Discussed it. But they haven’t been able to find the missing part. Until Ronin’s past shows up on their door step. Now they just have to decide what to do about it.
This story is another wonderful story, set in the Montgomery Ink World. Even though it is novella length, the author still manages to fit their entire story in there, without making you fell like you missed anything. I’ve loved all of the MI stories, and this one is no exception. I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this trio, even though they tugged a bit at my heart strings!
Loved it. It is very well written. Julia and Ronin have a good marriage but always thought of adding a third to their relationship then Ronin’s ex Kincaid shows up. Can they make a go of it or not. I love how characters from other books come into play. It’s a must read to find out if it works out or not.
I was a bit skeptical in the beginning with how this couple was going to work with adding Kincaid into Ronin and Julia’s already extremely happy and established marriage. But I shouldn’t have been. Carrie Ann seamlessly fits Kincaid in, as if he was always meant to be there. She always gives us what we want but didn’t know we really wanted to see. What an emotional roller coaster ride this was. But our tattooed ginger is the perfect fit to complete Julia and Ronin’s family. The bond between these three is absolutely unbreakable. I truly loved their dynamic and how they took care of each of the relationships within this throuple. I laughed, I cried and I cheered them on. And boy were they hot as hell. What a great fit to add to the Boulder Series.
I just love these 1001 Novellas from CAR. This was such a great story with wonderful characters. Two people in a great marriage are faced with a person from the past. When they open their arms to him, life is perfect for all three.
Only CAR can deliver this type of book and it come out absolutely beautiful!
