She’s everything I shouldn’t want. I capture her anyway. What humans hail an invasion we call Garrison Earth: a mission to save our species from extinction. But while my warriors will soon have the stomachs of their new mates swell with daughters, I know this planet holds nothing for me.Until a fierce, red-haired female points her gun with her eyes blazing fire, and I know I have found my mate. A … I know I have found my mate. A bullet and a tranquilizer pad later, I carry her in my arms.
Against my better judgment.
But who argues fate?
With a mission at the brink of failure, I have no time to wait around until Eden is willing to bond. I took her freedom. Might have taken her family. Taking her body is my obligation.
I am a male without conscience. Incapable of love. No one has ever pierced my cold heart.
No one ever will.
Not even her.
Captured is the first book in this interconnected romance series, bringing you an alien invasion in its most authentic way. If you enjoy strong women, devoted aliens, fated mates, and hard-earned happily ever after’s with no insta-love, Stockholm syndrome, or cliffhangers, you’ll love Garrison Earth.
Author Note: The entire Garrison Earth series touches on subjects such as captivity, drug abuse, forced prostitution, loss of loved ones, human trafficking, rough handling, and violence. Any reader uncomfortable with the harsh realities of an alien invasion should please consider before purchase.

What a great series! This is the first book I’ve read that I didn’t like one of the main characters, but by the end I was totally hooked. After reading the first, I bought the other three and devoured them. I highly recommend reading and experiencing the struggles each couple goes through.
Captured is less funny or sarcastic than the introduction, but really good in all areas.
Unstoppable and a return to the good old days unimaginable – face the changes
We have a very strong-willed heroine with a big heart, who gets to the real top when she encounters resistance and injustice. Her willingness to compromise is fascinating and her pragmatism encourages us to think ahead.
The sinister hero has to go a hard long way of his own experience and really has a hell of a lot of first times, but he develops credibly and his devoted nature makes the reader sigh out loud in reality more than once.
The story is really well developed, varied and I didn’t find any dry spells. Important and interesting areas of an invasion or takeover are sufficiently sketched, for the story and characters crucial points are worked out brilliantly. It may be tough in some parts, but that’s what gives it credibility and is what makes this wonderful overall package so captivating.
The author is new to me, but her style, the development of the world and her art of conveying all this gives me the conviction that not only do I want to read Book #2 Matched afterwards, but also that I will definitely test the Clan of the Woodlands series.
Really good Sci-Fi entertainment at Garrison Earth and a reading recommendation.
One of the best books I have ever read. At last, a heroine not swooning over her captors, giving them a really hard time (a relief actually that, for once, there are NO spankings and/or other corporeal punishment for her behaviour). I LOVE Eden, I love how fierce and difficult she has been towards everyone and everything not willing to give up, the way she fights all the time trying to escape and refusing to accept the situation. I really like Torin as well. Firm, serious, diplomat, leader, cold, commander, aggressive, maybe a “monster”, but for her, just a man. The descriptions of their private/sex moments are “out of this world”. And some of them, downright romantic and emotional. This is the first book I have ever read from this author and I will certainly seek out the rest of them. I just added her to my top 5 favourite authors.

This book incorporates many issues we face today (though not necessarily the aliens). It seems very different from other sci-fi books of this type and is a welcome change of pace.
The Vetusians invade Earth to gather females for breeding purposes or their species will die out. Eden is a strong female, one of the captured who will be Torin’s mate. Torin is drawn to her, but is very cold and distant. Eden bargains with him for her freedom in return for giving him a child. Will it remain just a simple transaction? Or will understanding and recognition of something deeper subtly change their arrangement? Or, as she learns of Torin’s history and incubator beginnings, will Eden find a new mission in trying to make the Vetusians see how precious children are and how they need nurturing, love, and family to prosper?
This is a story line with deep emotions and a great deal of change and adjustment. It’s not just a feel-good love story, but something life-changing. Grab your copy and share Eden and Torin’s story.
Great sci Fi hate turns to love story.
This was a really wonderful alien romance. The story allowed the characters to truly fall for each other. No insta-love, but a lot of talk about fate. Loved Torin, the MMC. The girl could be quite annoying and stubborn. Otherwise, great story. Would recommend.
at first I really didn’t like the heroine, she seemed pretty selfish, it took a good halfway through the book for me to begin to like her. I like the hero of course. The good part is that both main characters grow and learn through their experience which leads to a satisfying ending. I did stumble with the writers use of tenses, particularly with the word sunk. Writers, the past tense of the word sink is SANK NOT sunk!!! Please, please, please stop using sunk inappropriately. Still, I like the world and most of the characters enough to read most of the rest of the series.
This book was hands down amazing! LOVED every moment of it!
The caption says it all. The narration was very good. When I listen to a book I find it difficult to say it was well written because the grammatical errors are overlooked for obvious reasons. The story was somewhat predictable but was enjoyable. I would definitely read another book by this author.
This is an exciting start to a new series! This includes the Series starter and Captured Book 1. Garrison Earth will bait the hook and you won’t want to stop reading any of the books in this series. This starts off in an odd way, but it’s honestly, brutally, and purely a novella worth reading. The first scene will take you to a dark place. it reads fast but has a lot going for it. Lilly is abused by her husband Will and it’s ugly but well written with just the right touch of ohmygodzilla no he didn’t kind of vibe. Platon is adorable and the chemistry between Lilly and him is off the charts … Well, once Lilly comes around! I’m looking forward to binge-reading this series next!
CAPTURED – I didn’t realize that I had missed this book until in future books some characters and parts of the story felt like I should have remembered them. Torin and Eden are a volatile couple, and it takes them a long time to get there. They definitely have chemistry and the animosity that comes from, well for him, the way he was raised and for her, well, the aliens did invade and conquer the planet, so I think she was coming from a harsh place too, lol. The tension is thick but the story itself lays out the layers so nicely that I lost sleep trying to finish it because I just couldn’t put it down. This one will definitely pull on your heartstrings and dang you will feel so many emotions while they figure things out. I absolutely love this series and I’m actually reading book 3 now, have already read book 2, and I’m wondering what I’ll do with myself when this series is over!
This could be one of my favorite Syfy romances! This story is so good, with a fantastic plot where the earth is being invaded by a planet where all of the females have gone extinct. I suggest that if you have not read Book 0, Taken: Garrison Earth, that you read it first. It is the intro to the coming invasion that picks up in Book 1.The Commander/Warden, who is leading the mission to find mates for their male population has long felt defective. He feels incapable and unable to feel what he should. As commander he is responsible for the assimilation of the population of earth the Vetusians. While trying to capture and contain the population, Commander To run spots a young woman leaving a restaurant to sneak into a pharmacy to help herself and another young woman who needs an inhaler. Capturing and holding her for processing will be difficult. For Eden, a tough military brat, with nurses training refuses to conform. This is an enemy to lovers tale, but it doesn’t happen overnight. Eden and To run have a great deal of inflexibility, prejudice, and a spark that keeps drawing them back to each other. This is Book 1 of the series, and we are introduced to a healer who will be the main character in Book 2. I love, love, love this series.
A Great Premise
I found Eden very easy to relate to. Her military brat background and her career as a nurse was perfect for the rebellious redhead. She’s both tough and compassionate. While making lemonade from the lemons life has dealt her, she’s not exactly a forgive and forget type person. That takes time, and the journey to acceptance and love is tumultuous. Torin has all the appearances of an uncaring lout until you discover his weaknesses then the softer aspects come shining through. Just the type of hero I love. I really like the premise that earth’s invaders are actually brethren from a far distant past where one group departed for the stars and the rest stayed behind. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down from start to finish you just could not get enough with twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes you want more with action, drama, danger, suspense, survival, anger, fear, strength, courage, threats, struggles, kidnapping, passion and lust.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This story is gr8. I love Eden. She’s a strong, stubborn earth female that fights for what she believes. She never have up. In parts of this story I cried & I laughed. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Eden was trying to hide from the aliens that had invaded earth. Torin saw her when she crawled out of the vent and crossed to the store. When their eyes met time stood still. They were on earth to breed with the women. Eden and Torin fought their feelings until they couldn’t anymore. Then things seemed to unravel. Their fight to their HEA was exciting and interesting.

I’ve not read anything else by V. K. Ludwig, but I’m intrigued by the Garrison Earth series. Captured is the first book and even though it was a bit uneven for me, I enjoyed the book. Eden was a fighter from the very beginning of this book. Trained as a nurse, she is fighting to escape capture by the Vetusians, an alien race that ia believed to be taking over Earth. The Vetisians saved Earth from another alien race in exchange for 1000 women to breed with to save their race. Earth has reneged so Torin as the leader of the Garrison mission, has been ordered to take the women by force. Eden is captured and goes fighting all the way.
I liked these two characters, they are compelling, strong, and determined. Most of the time the story flowed well and there were some interesting twists along the way. But, at times, it was just too much anger and fury from Eden. I felt the book really got interesting at about 25% in. I liked Torin right away, but eventually warmed up to Eden.
All that said, I did like the book and am looking forward to the next book in the series. And I’ve added Clan of the Woodlands to my “To Be Read” list. All these books are available for free with your KU subscription, so binge read weekend for me!

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. The story evolved well and liked the way she fell in love with the enemy, her fated mate. Really good read, I recommend it. Looking forward to reading matched.
I struggled with my rating for this story, there are parts of the book that’s a strong 4 star and parts of it that are closer to a 2 star. While both characters are strong and at times very unyielding in the end they did get it together and form a great team.
I understand Eden’s desire to not become a captive of a species that has taken over earth. Totally get her fighting tooth and nail for her freedom, however after a bit her continued fight was the only thing we got to deal with at the beginning of the book. When she finally decided to become the very reluctant mate of Torin we were again subjected to her never ending fight with him, which made the beginning of their relationship a warzone. Again I do understand that she does not want to be his mate however the alternative would not be better for her. Shortening both of her fight for freedom would have left more time to really give us the nuances of their budding relationship and keep the pacing moving along.
There are glimpses of both of them trying to fight their reluctant desire for each other, which was a nice build to the tension. Then we would spiral back again into an angst fest after a while the continued angst just made the book a bit of a drag.
When Torin finally drops his guard and lets her in we get to understand him more and see what transpired in his past that has now made him think he was unworthy of having a mate.
Once they started working together their chemistry really picked up. As a unit they were able to change some very cruel practices that had caused harm to Torin and was now creating havoc on the tenuous peace the two planets were trying to create. One would think that a specie that could take over another planet in the fashion that they did would have a bit more enlightened political system and they wouldn’t have the same type of slimy politicians in power as we at times seem to have.
For me the beginning of the book had moments that I really enjoyed and a lot of it was just a frustrating angst fest, it wasn’t until we were at the middle of the book that we could see Eden and Torin as two lost souls trying to make the best of a situation that started out very badly.
