I have never been so involved in a series that I finished one book and promptly downloaded the next and read it that same day. Charlie and her cousins are witches and dealing with making an income just like the rest of us. Daphne is a terrific hairstylist, Jen with Evangeline own an eatery, Lisa is a big time lawyer and Charlie…she struggles working at a call center.
Charlie loves working with the police, she and Jason have solved many cases together. Jason has seen her fight evil and over time relies on her psychic abilities. Heck, he’s involved with cousin Lisa and she’s a witch. Charlie is dealing with Scott, ex husband, son Evan and his curiosity about the family skills, and now an FBI agent! Cameron is a pain in the butt in that he’d rather not solve a case than believe in her skills.
Keeley is a young teen, kidnapped and locked up in a basement along with other kids and scared for her life. Two men, think nothing of killing the kids for their “light”, draining their energy till nothing is left. Charlie finds evidence but Jason, a close friend of Cameron, makes it hard for Charlie to solve.
This author makes witches, anti witch groups,
mediums, reapers and lost souls real with dating issues, bigots, secrets, regrets and everyday issues.
I don’t know if the books are fantasy, fiction, paranormal or suspenseful mysteries. I have read nine of the books, in order, and love the way characters have grown. Including Charlie who is dealing with real children fighting for their lives, spirits looking for the light or her own son Evan becoming a teenager and wanting to act out. Overall, 5 out of 5 stars, addictive reads with solid plots, characters you care about and with each book, more people join the family and as a family, they are so tight and sassy with each other. Cameron, Jason, Bill, and more just add to the books. And Tom, the reaper, wow, he is a keeper. Even if he is creepy as heck without his human body. Oh, and little Poe, a tiny black cat and let’s not forget Penny…the dead chicken that lives with Charlie!! I dare you to read just one of her books and stop.
Captivating addition to the series. Lots of advancement with characters, their powers and two new additions added to the “family”.
I didn’t want to put this down once I started. Charlie has her hands full trying to save a girl who was taken by a cult who practices evil witch craft on young children. Everyone gets involved in the hunt from her cousins and their men, the Defenders of Light and the new additions brother and sister Darius and Tomeka who are practice their own magic. Even Charlie’s son Evan finally gets to tag along and learn more about spells and witchcraft.
Lots of big changes by the end of the book and looking forward to seeing what’s next.
