Rigel has searched for an end to his people’s curse. Living in the lost city of Atlantes, women are rare and immortality has come with a high price–loneliness. When a beautiful female is thrown into the ocean, her fate is in his hands, and this sexy mortal is more than this hard up warrior can resist.Lords of the Abyss SeriesParanormal Shifter Underwater Romance
Cool underwater setting and the whole Mer-person world is interesting; not the pleasure robots, but the other stuff is entertaining. This one was just a bit too rushed; it’s a novella, but I expected more. Still enjoyed this whole series so far and am interested in reading the next books! Liked the chemistry and spice between Lyra and Rigel too! Lyra is annoying at times, but I liked Rigel. Overall, interesting premise with humans finding out there’s Mer-people and falling in love.
I can’t get enough of this author! I’m thrilled that I had the opportunity to read this book. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend!

Notes/Opinion (personal):
This is a 6 book series that interconnects. I would highly suggest it be read in order as some details were covered in earlier books but not in great detail in this one. As with prior books, I did enjoy the story but felt more detail could have been added to strengthen the world and give the characters more depth. There were some questions left between the main characters that I felt could have been answered to make this more complete. There definitely was steam and I felt at times the steam took over the story and it became mostly about sex, not the relationship. The overall arc of the story is definitely indicative of continuing through the other books (which I have not read at this point). I did like the story but again, feel it left some plot holes.
I have enjoyed both books in the series before this one, but this one was the best! Like all of them, the setting descriptions were so detailed and vivid that they were very believable. This one however, flowed better in my opinion and the dialogues were so believable! My favorite of the 3, so far. I can’t wait to read the rest of them!
The third book in the Lords of the Abyss series a well written story with a very good storyline that kept me turning pages. Merman shapeshifter Rigel and human Lyra Harne’s story of his rescue of her when the ship she is on is wrecked by scylla. There is suspense, drama, danger, not knowing if her family was rescued and love. The story was well worth reading, I want to read more in this series.
entertaining book, fantasy, romance, sadness, charming mermen, Lyra ends up in an underwater world after the ship she sailed on, was attacked and destroyed at sea. Rigel is a merman who rescued her and brought her to his world.Lyra is rebellious, does not want to get used to this new world, but eventually finds happiness.
I liked the descriptions,very imaginative

Third book in series: This is tamer than I expected of the supposed drama explosion when I was reading book 2. Reading about the silent then angry Lyra and Rigel’s task of subduing and placating his ward, I thought fireworks. Not quite. However I did learn one very important clue about the scylla, I will leave for you to find out. So Lyra and Rigel’s story gives me the impression of an older woman and a younger man by Lyra’s sexual aggression, however that isn’t the case as Rigel is centuries old. Very interesting read.
A CAPTIVATING READ THAT I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED
I loved the book by Michelle M Pillow and I loved the charaters and the way she took so much time to give them full backgrounds and life story which makes all the difference to the story.
Kyra had feared water and for her to venture on the boat had been quite brave but she would do anything for her family. However, the sea voyage was to end in disaster and her family was lost the only reason she survived was because she was rescued by Rigel who was a Merr man.
As the years passed, she learned that she could never return home without dying and the time, care and love Rigel had shown his little fish was heart wrenching, you could actually fee Kyra’s distress.
This was a wonderful read as there was so many life lessons, I know that any other reader will enjoy this as much as myself.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
From “Captive” to Wife
Lyra is rescued by mermen when the ship she was on sinks; Rigel is her rescuer. There’s some emotionally difficult parts to this story (she struggles with survivor’s guilt, Rigel keeps his own secret), but all’s well that ends well. The ending made me very happy – it was sweet and joyful with a hit of spicy.
i still enjoyed it, but the FC was not of my liking. hated her attitude. also it was a short book more focused on sex than in an emotional story in comparison to book 1 and 2. but there is still an emotional side to it, that is what i liked more about the story. narrator was good but i don’t think her tone is he best choice for this kind of stories.
Another awesome read by Michelle Pillow. Mermen are real and Lyra has just been rescued by one. She has to come to terms with all the events that have occurred since her ship was attacked before she has a chance to find happiness.

I love the Lords of the Abyss. I first found them through this authors dragon series and I was hooked. I have gone back through them to read them all over. Good story and interesting characters

I loved this book by Michelle M. Pillow. Lyra hated the ocean but went on a voyage to help her family. Her boat was sunk and she was saved by a Merr named Rigel. Rigel was happy to save Lyra but she blamed him for her families deaths. I love how he helped her even after her screaming at him and kicking and hitting him. As time passed she learned that she could not ever go back home or she would die. Rigel helped her to find out if her family lived. I love how this book portrays family. I could not put this book down.

Another great addition to the series. Rigel has spent centuries hunting the scylla and searching for his lost brother and feels the weight of the loneliness their curse has put upon them. Lyra lost much in the shipwreck that brought her to Atlantes and has trouble rectifying that loss.
This book had a lot going on. Lyra’s loss. Rigel’s loss. Secrets revealed. Hot Dogs. And finally – brothers being brothers (you can’t kill them, you just have to learn to deal with them). I really enjoyed this story and loved the ending.
This is an absorbing series and I recommend it.
I am a full fledged Michelle M Pillow fan but this book disappointed me a little.
After the 2nd book, Commanding the Tides. I expected this to be full of sass, a hell raising human female, lots of humor, drama & of course a hot merman.
This book however was 99% sex. 1/3% humor provided mostly from the twins & the 2 guards, 1/3% drama & 1/3% BEST HEA IN A BOOK. Plus near the very end, Lyra acted more like a true Siren than human in one scene and after she slept, she was like herself again. Very strange. It was a little bit explained but not fully understandable. Here is a very positive: the epilogue was the BEST HEA!! It truly was heartwarming and had me in tears. Happy one
Please, please don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good book, just not what I personally was expecting. Maybe that’s my reasoning for the harshness. Just take it with a grain of salt.
I still recommend this book. It IS worth a read and I read it in one sitting.
The story in this book, is entertaining and the characters of Lyra and Rigel have a great interaction and chemistry between them. I can’t wait for the next book from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
This is the third in the Lords of the Abyss series, which I liked far more than I thought I would. I got the first book free and ended up buying the entire series. At first I found Lyra hard to like. I get that she was suspicious and angry, but she was difficult then suddenly she changed and it felt inauthentic. However, the author is a master at building the story and this one is full of clues to the puzzles, so worth the read.

Rigel and Lyra’s Story
Lyra is sailing with her family to deliver a ship to Spain. The ship is attacked by the Scylla and destroyed. She is rescued by Rigel and taken to their city under the sea, Atlantes. She is grieving for the loss of her family and refuses to speak. Rigel is her guardian and does everything he can think of to break through to her. Sometimes time is the best healer, and eventually she comes out of her silence. Imagine trying to adjust to life under the sea with no chance of ever going to the surface again.
This is the third book of the series. It is a little shorter than the first two but I loved hearing Lyra’s story. Apparently this isn’t the end of the series. Good news!
