Rigel has searched for an end to his people’s curse. Living in the lost city of Atlantes, women are rare and immortality has come with a high price–loneliness. When a beautiful female is thrown into the ocean, her fate is in his hands, and this sexy mortal is more than this hard up warrior can resist.Lords of the Abyss SeriesParanormal Shifter Underwater Romance
Audiobook review: Captive of the Deep is a short but steamy paranormal romance with a quick coupling of the two main characters. The storyline includes some side stories to keep the reader/ listener interested in the next book in the series. The narrator did a nice job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I won a free copy of this audiobook and have voluntarily left this review.
It is pretty amazing how much I’m enjoying this series. This author is quite fantastic. It is well written and the plot line is intriguing. This is unusual with books in this genre, so you’re definitely missing out if you haven’t checked it out already.
This one is shorter than the first two, but it is about the third female pulled out of the ocean from the first book. The one who was so sassy and rebellious. I was dying to find out what her story was, so I’m glad we got to find out already. I have no idea where the series could possibly be going now because we have already gone in depth on all three women pulled from the sea, but I’m excited to find out!
great read
Captive of the Deep is book 3 in the Lords of the Abyss series and can be read by itself with little lost. The first two books will make some of the side characters more memorable, and it’s fun to get a look at those characters a little further forward in time. Written in third person omniscient from both leads’ perspectives.
This is Rigel and Lyra’s story. Rigel, like our previous two heros, is one of the mermen hunters who patrols the sea for sea beasts that attack human vessels. Lyra is lost to the sea when her family’s boat is attacked by one such creature, and Rigel saves her. Through a bit of peril, a lot of steamy romancing, and some adventure, the two finally find their happily ever after.
If you like your romance with mermen, dangerous mermaids, vengeful gods, and lots of steam, this is a fun read.
This is the story of Lyra and Rigel.
We got to see Lyra in the previous books and i have to stay i am confused.
From one point i liked the story but in the other hand i really didn’t like Lyra.
I didn’t like her behavior though i sort of understood where she came from and why she was acting like that.
Still the author managed to captivate me with her story and Rigel was such a sweet and kind character.

Was a great read from beginning to end and so hard to put down. Really enjoyed this adventure. Action packed, emotional roller-coaster filled with witty and engaging charters, heart racing twists and thrilling turns.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this story, though I trust Pillow’s writing and knew the story would be good, whatever this new underwater world had to offer. I also knew that starting on book three of the series probably wasn’t the greatest idea, but I had hopes that I could figure things out. Happily, orienting myself in the story wasn’t a problem, and it is indeed a captivating world with intriguing characters and a LOT of promise. This story definitely leans more on the sexy-times side than the romantic, and at points the romantic development itself seemed a bit quick, but there is still a fulfilling, touching HEA at the end. I really enjoyed the individual points of view that really bring Rigel and Lyra to life, and the depth of the development of the city of Atlantes and the culture there, too. Overall, the story was a strongly characterized romance with intriguing world-building, and was an enjoyable enough read that I do plan to read the rest of the stories in the series.

Saving Love
Michelle M. Pillow’s third book in her ‘Lords of the Abyss’ series is still surging up the charts. This book is just swimming with emotions. Lyra was on a journey to help her family when their boat sank. Rigel, a merman, was able to save her but not her family. Lyra goes off on Rigel violently blaming him for her family’s death. No matter how mean she is to Rigel, he continues to be nothing but kind and helpful towards her. At first I hated Lyra’s character but then I put myself in her place. If I had tragically lost my whole family, I would be hurting and lashing out in pain. Anger is one of the stages of grief that people need to go through to finally achieve acceptance. I loved this book so much I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read.
Rigel, a merman from Atlantes is out hunting when Lyra is thrown from a boat that was attacked by a scylla. He protects her and brings her down to Atlantes. She at first blames him for the death of her family. Gradually she starts to learn of her fate and what is going on around her. Rigel and Lyra are mates so he tries hard to show her that life can be good there. Having the scylla locked up causes trouble at one point. Loved the message in the bottle idea. The characters were terrific, with great backstories and intense feeling, emotions, and mind reading. The storyline totally kept in entertained and eager to see what happened next. Lots of surprises and twists, like who the scylla was that died. Can not wait to read more about this group. The series is fantastic.

This is the third book in the Lords of the Abyss series. I read this book many years ago and was wondering if it would live up to expectations. It did I again loved this story of Lyra and Rigel. It is full of passion, danger – with murderous mermaids – and lonely mermen. There are many things going on in this story with Lyra and Rigel taking a tortuous route to happiness. There is much soul searching by Rigel and Lyra (who can at times be a bit annoying). All in all an enjoyable read.

This intriguing book 3 in The Lords of the Abyss Book Series was a steamy, standalone full-length, Alien Romance with a sexy, rugged and irresistible alien, alpha male and his unbelieving mate. This well constructed book has wonderful characters with interesting and amazing personalities. This was an entertaining story with depth, personality, and unique world construction. The characters in this book are very well crafted with problems which they overcome and the characters within in the story. A must read story
This was another good Atlantes story. Although my favorite is still the one with Cassandra. This is a very short read but so glad that she had a very HEA!

4 1/2 stars – Michelle M. Pillow wrote another captivating enjoyable story in this Lords of the Abyss series. Lyra Harne is helping her family business on a two month re-enactment Spanish Armanda voyage trip by their client. Unfortunately Lyra suffers from bad case of seasickness which reinforces her dislike of the ocean. Then the boat is pitched back and forth, attacked by the scylla’s which throws Lyra into the ocean. Meanwhile Rigel the Hunter, Merr, has been hunting the scylla only to encounter another team hunting one. The scylla’s attack and destroy the boat on the surface. Helping the humans to the surface Rigel saves Lyra who he finds resents him for the death of her family. When she finds out she can’t go back home, what will happen between Rigel and Lyra? I volunteer to read and review this ARC I received via Booksprout.
For Rigel being a merman is a lonely existence without a possible mate and with forever to dwell on that.
Women are extremely rare and usually mermen only mate if they rescue humans.
When a beautiful human is snatched by the waves, he knows she may not survive unless he intervenes.
This warrior was sent only to capture a monster that loves to destroy anything that floats but ended up losing his heart.
In this visit to Atlantes, we finally see Rigel’s story and see his feelings and thoughts. With her way of life completely changing, Lyra is not as warm towards him as he is towards her.
Rigel has endured countless years alone and this woman reignited the flame in him but can she love him back?

Lyra and Rigel get their story with plenty of fireworks between them and their different personalities but wish the ending wasn’t so rushed. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have loved everything I have read by Michelle M. Pillow and this book is no exception! Lyra must help her family by going on a trip with them on the ocean. Yeah, she hates the ocean but loves her family so she goes anyway. When her boat sank, she was saved by Rigel. It is an emotional time when she feels her family is dead and she places the blame on Rigel. He does not stop helping her though. I loved this book and the story was compelling. Loved it!
