A century-old curse forgotten by time. A sleepy town cut off from the world by an ominous chasm. And a girl with the heart of a warrior.Nothing can stop the Silver Riders from reaping once they’ve marked their prey. I should know, I tried, and I failed… out of the chasm beyond the woods and take the Marked. No one sees, but me. No one remembers, but me. It’s the towns curse to forget, and I do my best to forget along with them. I almost succeed.
Until the day I can no longer turn a blind eye. Until the day the man I love is taken.
Now there is nothing I won’t do to get him back, even if that means climbing into the pit of hell itself, even if it means taking Deaths hand and accepting his heated kisses. I will do what it takes to find the man I love, and I will brave the monsters to bring him home. And if I fail…If I fail, I’d have died trying…

I’m in love with the cover! Oh the horns! *purr growl rawr* I didn’t even read the blurb before I bought the book. Then I began reading the book and for a while it took me on an epic journey. It was a huge relief that book two was out already.
This was a fantastic story with a soft yet tough main character. The men she encounters are so yummy. This is a well written story where you slowly learn about the characters and the world. It’s slow burn.
I highly recommend that you one-click this awesome book.
As with all of Debbie’s books, it’s set in a world so realistic that I felt like the strange chasm was just outside my window, waiting for me to stumble into it. Her use of mythology is new and fresh, just as unique as her characters are.
Oh those characters… I call dibs on all of the guys – we only meet two for-sure-love-interests in this book, but I have a few ideas on who might join them. Veles is mine!
Anyway, an amazing read that kept me up into the early morning. Go, read it, love it, lick it.
Great first book in this new series. Captivating characters, an easy flowing storyline and a dash of mystery make this one great read. Can’t wait for book 2.
Debbie Cassidy has done it again with the beginning of this new series. Within the first couple of pages she had me intrigued and captivated. To sum it up, onward to the next book.
Captive of Darkness is a bold, dark, mysterious fantasy full of beasts, gods, immortals, fey, a dark curse and a human willing to risk everything for the one she loves most.
Cassidy has truly outdone herself with this new series; it is like nothing she has written before. This story is full of adventure, mystery and suspense from the first page to the last. The characters are interesting and engaging and the storyline complex, intense, dark and intricately woven into a fabulous read. One thing I really enjoyed about this book is that Wynter is not your standard Cassidy-written heroine. She is a quiet, average girl with hopes and dreams who gets scarred, has doubts and needs rescuing on a few occasions. However one thing that is standard is that she is resilient and has an inner strength that propels her to risk everything to help someone she loves. I loved watching her test her boundaries and the twist showing what she is destined to become…I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for her on her journey. And Veles, hmm, he is such an interesting creature I look forward to seeing more of. Since he is on the cover and from snippets in the story, I am assuming he will be a love interest for Wynter (they definitely have the chemistry working for them), but I now have to be curious as to the outcome of her and Finn. They have grown up together and are so connected but I have to wonder if this will be a love triangle or a reverse harem? And that would definitely be interesting with the current state of things! It is obvious though that Wynter is destined to be more than she is or thought she could be. I also enjoyed the multiple POV’s in the story; it helped to add depth and give us a look into each character’s thoughts and emotions. I loved everything about this book and cannot wait for the next. Just wow! This is an exciting, crazy, fun new world loaded with possibilities. Love, love, loved it!
