BOOK ONE OF THE DARK DUET:Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, … identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.
Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.
WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

So dark, so dark. It was the first book of this kind that I’ve read, and I liked it. I don’t know if I should feel bad about that or not. Because there are always people saying how could anyone read a book about kidnapping, imprisonment and forcing somebody to sex. The thing is, that this is not real but fiction. But I have to be honest and tell you, that there where some scenes where I thought “oh god, how could anyone do this?” (Although there is always a point like this when reading about bullying, torturing, kidnapping, violence, killing,..)
I really liked the way of writing both POVs, from Caleb and Livvie. Because this way, it gives us a reason why he is doing this to her. Otherwise I would just think “Why? Why? Why?” and would totally lose interest in this story. It doesn’t mean that I approve of what he does – no matter what he had been through – but it explains why he’s so fucked up and what’s going on in his mind when he acts a certain way.
If I would have been Livvie, I would probably have stopped eating and existing. I can’t even imagine how horrible it must be to go through stuff like that. And since I was thinking about this all the time, I couldn’t really “enjoy” reading it. It was good written and the story was anything but boring, though it’s not a must-re-read for me. Still, I have to pick up the 2nd book because I am curious how the story will end.
really enjoyed story line, was exactly what i was hoping for
Really good book
It is very difficult to write a review. This is a very dark story and it is a cliff hanger. The story flows and you can tell Caleb is having second thoughts about Livvie and he has feelings but because of his past history does not know how to handle or,how to react. I would recommend the book and the series.
Very dark book, but I was pulled in right from the beginning and just couldn’t put it down.
This book is dark, but amazing. I’ve never read anything like it befor or since.
Loved this book and it’s story
This book had me justifying Stockholm syndrome! Couldn’t put it down.
This was a little more twisted than I am used to and it wasn’t sexy to me. I don’t like anything to do with belts, that’s a trigger so I had to stop reading at one point and set the book aside for several days. I think the underlying story has promise though, once I got past my own personal hang ups and just focused on the story itself I became more interested. I will probably finish the series to see where things go.
I read this book quite some time ago but it’s is a keeper. It was good enough for me to spend money on the others in the series. They are in my cloud so I can read again and again.
If you like dark erotica then grab this book. If you don’t please exit stage left. I like dark erotica and this hit the spot.
