The fourth novel in the #1 New York Times and #1 USA Today bestselling Crossfire series.Gideon calls me his angel, but he’s the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own. The vows we’d exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter … pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to bear.
At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we’d worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we’d had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream…

If you haven’t read this series yet, you’re seriously missing out
Book 4 had all the enemies from the past coming out after Eva and Gideon. A page turner and kept my interest
Captured the sexual abuse of children whose family never acknowledge the abuse and the tragic events that could follow them in their adult lives.
Must read
The dual POV was a nice surprise. I was wondering since I read Bared to You what is possibly going on in Gideon’s head.
To be honest, reading Gideon’s POV is what made this book that much more bearable. He is certainly one of the more tolerable, if not the most tolerable, character in this series.
Who would have thought that Gideon Cross could be so romantic? He certainly came a long way since his first preposition to Eva in Bared to You . Honestly, I cannot help but feel that Gideon is more into Eva, than Eva is into him. She still seems to be hung up on Brett and only dropped the idea of Brett when she caught him with a different woman. Plus, sometimes it comes across like she is only with him out of obligation and not because she is in love with him. That she owes him for killing Nathan.
I just can’t seem to connect to Eva at all. To be honest, I do not see what Gideon obviously sees in her. I do not think that she is all that special.
I read that this series was meant to be a Trilogy and part of me wishes that the author would have followed through. I do not see a reason for a fourth book as not a whole lot has happened. Well, not a whole lot that hasn’t happened in the previous three books. I will read the last book but I do not hold much hope. It just seems to be the same over-used ideas, book after book, with no fresh plot.
Great series
The author did a great job of connecting you with the characters and building your connection to them. Loved the romance and drama!
First of all I need to be honest I wasn’t too into the idea of reading this series, I hated 50 shades of grey but a friend Swore by it and a few days of intensely hot read, here I am.
I tried to read one book at a time but it was impossible for me to put them down long enough to write a review so, this is my opinion based on the whole series.
Holly cow they are good, Gideon is a broken man, he holds all the pieces of himself tight together but can’t glue himself back up. But when he meets Eva some part of him awakens and little by little he starts to be whole again.
Eva is a great character, she has so many facets, she’s strong, tender, intelligent but hides within herself all the fears her past created.
Together they are explosive apart they are nothing.
The side characters are perfect too each one has a contribution to the story in some way, whether it’s portraying the struggle of one of the characters or giving them a moment of peace. Every single one of them is so interesting I would love to have spin offs so we could explore them more.
This series is amazing, beautifully written with round characters, amazing world building and just so happens to have lots and I mean lots of sex in it. I doesn’t get boring it has a great pace, the conflicts are interesting because they have everything to do with the nature of Gideon and Eva’s relationship and all the secrets they keep.
I loved it. Have you guys read it?
When I got few days and I want to read a favorite this is the series that i pick. I am so jealous of you if you have not read it. Enjoy!!
one of my favorites…. Love Gideon
I’m writing a review for the entire Crossfire series, which is one I think about even years after reading it.
I stumbled across this series by accident when I was browsing a Half Price Books store several years ago. There was a woman in the same section as me who was on the floor searching through a pile of books she’d pulled from the shelf in front of her. When I bypassed her, she stopped to apologize and asked if I needed in the area she was blocking. I told her no, because I was just browsing, and then she asked if I wanted a recommendation. I said, sure, why not, and she handed me a book from the top of the pile she was digging through. It was the first in the Crossfire series. She said she was frantically hunting the most recently published book in the series but hadn’t been able to find it in any of the discount bookstores because no one was selling it back. She had a limited budget for books and only allowed herself to buy from those kinds of stores but was about to give up her rule and buy it from Barnes & Noble down the street.
I figured that was a pretty good rec, so I bought it, as well as the next few books in the series (that were available at the Half Price Books I was at). Needless to say, I wound up purchasing the most recently released book on my Kindle a few days later because, like the woman I’d run across, I needed more.
Sadly, this is one of those stories I attempted to come back to recently and it doesn’t hold up as well as I remember it, which is the only reason I’m knocking a star off my overall rating. I loved it at the time, but it doesn’t necessarily hold up well over time and doesn’t lend itself to be re-read.
But if you’ve never read this series, I highly recommend it.
This series was amazing. I would recommend it to everyone that loves to read theses kind of books. She is a great writer and her team does a awesome job with fixing any grammar errors there may be.
So this was and will be my absolute favorite series ever. I loved the intensity between Gideon and Eva. I also loved the importance of Cary and Eva’s parents role. There was everything in this book from emotions to promptness to love. Sylvia Day was on top of her game with this series. I loved loved loved it so much that I have heard this series multiple times. I would give it more than 5********* and definitely recommend it to all.
I love this whole series! I’ve lost count how many times I’ve read them. Who doesn’t love Gideon and Eva?!!!
I love this book. We finally hear Gideons POV! I see ho w much he feels for Eva. Terrific
Do not hesitate to buy this series!!! You’ll want to purchase the entire set so you can keep reading! Love her writing!
