“Captain is full of delicious chemistry, nonstop laughs, and HOT sexy times – the perfection combination to make an unforgettable romance!” A.L. Jackson, NYT & USA Bestselling AuthorFrom, Lauren Rowe, the USA Today and International bestselling author of The Club Series and Ball Peen Hammer comes a sexy STANDALONE romance in THE MORGAN BROTHERS series: Captain. It wasn’t the way this kind of … way this kind of story was supposed to go . . .
Insta-love isn’t supposed to turn into insta-hate.
But that’s exactly what happened when the hot-as-hell dreamboat I met in a bar turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag-player-douche looking for nothing but a little side action. Jerk.
And he has the nerve to call me a liar and a “sociopath”? Asshle.
And now, three months later, through a mind-blowing series of events I couldn’t have predicted in a million years, it turns out my boss is marrying his sister in Hawaii and I’ve got to play nice with him for an entire freaking week.
Okay, sure, I’ll put on a happy face this week and act like I’ve never even met the jerk before–did I mention his sister is marrying my boss?–but that doesn’t mean I’ll like it. And it certainly doesn’t mean I’ll stop secretly hating the arrogant bastard’s guts.
Because I do.
I hate him.
I really do.
I just wish my brain would explain the situation to my body . . . because every time he flashes that panty-melting smile at me, it takes all my self-restraint not to jump the bastard’s hot-as-fck bones.
Indulge in the distinctive world of Lauren Rowe, as she invites you into a world filled with humor, passion, wit, and heat. One of the sexiest novels ever written, while still maintaining an enormous amount of wit and humor and originality.
NOTE:

Loved!! I have been immersed in the Morgan world. Captain was delicious!! Ryan (Captain, Rumcake, etc) is simply nummy nummy nummy!! And Tessa! She’s guarded in relationship world but she’s amazing!! Ryan scales those walls and opens her up!! Love their hate to love hotness!! And of course, the Morgan family hilariousness and hijinks. Adored. Audio is great. Enjoyed both the book and the performance.
The best book boyfriend ever
Continuing my great literary and musical education at the hands of Lauren Rowe, this time Moby Dick and Enrique Iglesias. Epic. My only complaint about this book? I need more Ryan and Tessa!! Again, I loved everything about this book. I’ve read the whole Club series and I’ve yet to find one misstep, every word is spot on, every character is fun and engaging. I’ve never wanted to join a gang of friends more than the Faraday/Morgan clan!
Captain and T-Rod are one steamy hilarious couple who are not a couple. The way the relationship began and progressed in this edition of the Morgan clan was a drag race! I loved their first encounter until the Bunny Boiler showed up. Tessa is then so focused on her job and preparing for her boss Josh’s upcoming destination wedding all the while trying not to focus on Ryan. Ryan is searching everywhere with desperation for an elusive woman who does not exist. When these two finally meet again it is rip roaring fun! Anger, mistrust and so much passion they explode making you sweat, swear and laugh all at the same time. From there the laughs continue, the heat rises and you are just begging them to say the things that will change it all and let the love flow. Lauren Rowe nailed it on this one!
When Ryan meets the love of his life on a whim. His world gets turned upside down when he can’t find her. Then they finally meet up again in an unexpected place.
Oh Captain my Captain! Goodness me this book. I laughed, felt like part of the Morgan family and just didn’t want the story to end. The Morgans are one amazing very close knit family andthe nicknames they have for each other are hilarious.
Once again the author has written an outstanding, unputdownable read and I cannot wait for more.
Ryan and Tessa are quite something. Honestly the drama was so ridiculously entertaining plus the steamy moments were off the charts!!! Cold shower anyone? Lol
Anywho onto the next book. I cannot get enough of this series. Hooked is an understatement!
Absolutely Brilliant !
Lauren Rowe knocks it out of the park once again.
I Loved Ryan and Tessa’s Love/Hate relationship it was hilarious.
Ryan is just the best as Hot as hades and such a romantic at heart he wanted Tessa as soon as he saw her and stopped at nothing to make sure she became his.
But there was so many misunderstandings and complications which leaves the reader so amused and entertained……And the HATE Sex is AWESOME.!!…So steamy and funny too,I was grinning so much with these two .. Tessa had no chance against Ryan the Captain Morgan and his sexy allure and it is so much fun watching her try and her resistance slowly crumble.
I LOVE the way Lauren Rowe writes her stories and the characters she creates, they are so amazing and easy to fall in Love with. The Morgans are a family you want to be a part of and,I adore this quirky family unit.
Captain is a must read and a perfect balance of romance, comedy and emotion and I highly recommend it .
5 Spectacular Stars.
After falling in love with Colby in Hero and then Zander in Mister Bodyguard, I knew that I had to get to know all of this characters as soon as possible. They were just too special to miss. Too awesome to be passed over. Too incredibly funny not to enjoy more and more laughs with.
Honestly, I thought that this story would be a no-brainer. Five stars like the rest of them and on to the next. And it would have been if it was about Ryan, the rest of the amazing Morgan family, and their equally phenomenal friends and family. However, I had to endure Tessa and she was a hard pill to swallow.
Burned by love, Tessa didn’t need much to push her into believing that Ryan was pretty much like every other lying, cheating, scumbag of a man. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary… despite the many people who loved and respected him… despite how he carried himself… despite how obvious it was that he was a great man… she treated him like garbage. She was disrespectful, mean, and ugly to him. She went above and beyond to treat him like dirt while continuing to sleep with him.
Thankfully there were plenty of high points to this story to enjoy. Every moment with the Morgans was a delight and a half. The family (oh Peenie), the friends, the sweet and hilarious conversations and hijinks made this story amazingly entertaining. I loved Ryan so much and I look forward to seeing him again as I continue to read about his brothers.
Loved this book so hard!
Ryan loves with his whole soul when he lets you in. Family/Friends/love interest.
He chased her to the ends of the earth and back to get her.
Love love love! The epilogue was so fun too as Lauren ties in some updates for the rest of the clan!
Lauren and John knocked this one out of the ball park performance wise also. Seemed cleaner on the noises and such.
Would highly recommend
I am so invested in this series and everything Lauren Rowe! Her writing, narration and amazing talent to write and sing her own songs blow me away!
Ryan is supposedly the looker out of all the Morgan brothers, but I can’t help myself.. I’ve fallen in love with each of their stories and I can’t read/listen to them fast enough! And John Lane’s voice- ugh, so sexy!!
Only two books into the series & Lauren Rowe is quickly becoming a go to author for me. Her books are so funny, steamy & still romantic. The characters can veer into silly & raunchy but there’s always a deep sense of loyalty, family & love at the root of the story. Great narration on the audiobook as well. Now excuse me, I need to go meet my next Morgan brother.
Absolutely adorable journey to go on with Ryan and Tessa, also let’s not forget to mention the Morgan family. I enjoyed this fun, entertaining, and steamy story.
I did read this way back in 2018 but for some reason Goodreads didn’t show my review. I might not remember every single detail but I do know I enjoy this a whole lot.
So far this has been my favorite listen! That first meeting was Woo Hoo! The connection was off the charts! I loved it! I really liked Tessa! She is a strong female and it was a joy to listen to her change, grow and become her new self. Ryan was just adorable! Looking and looking. That in itself is worth a second shot for him.
I loved the wedding venue as well as all the characters! I really can’t get enough of their nicknames for each other. And that story Peen told about how him and Zander became friends….I totally bought it! Then Cat shows up mentions she thought it was something else. That Peen! (Shakes head). His story will be epic.
My only downside is the Epilogue. It gives a look at the future for all Morgan’s so we get a sneak peek at all their happy endings. I am just not a fan of that.
I listened to this on audio and the narrators did A-Maz-ing job! This is a keeper for a re-listen!
I LOVE THE MORGAN FAMILY!
You get the whole mad and hilarious family including Keane Morgan, aka Ball Peen Hammer in Captain also the Faraday’s as Josh and party girl Kat from the Club series have a week-long luxury vacation with the whole family.
I have read Ball Peen Hammer which was hilarious and I really want to read the club series now that I have had a taste of all the characters, I love all the characters and Lauren Rowe’s ability to give a reader everything a romance should contain.
When Ryan Morgan meets the woman of his dreams in a bar after a series of wrong relationships and his latest bunny boiler he is determined to find her again after his recent ex turns up at the bar painting a picture of a lair and a cheat making Tessa flee.
Tessa was out for a night with her friend dressed as an air stewardess calling her self Samantha persuaded by her friend to have fun and have a one night stand for a change. Well, it worked but not because of the air stewardess uniform, Ryan Morgan instantly fell for Tessa or rather Samantha and the night was going well until Ryan’s ex turns up like a screaming banshee and Tessa who has had a series of cheaters runs for the hills.
3 months later, 3 months of Ryan trying to find the mystery woman and both are finally re-united but……
Tessa:
Insta-love isn’t supposed to turn into insta-hate.
But that’s exactly what happened when the hot-as-hell dreamboat I met in a bar turned out to be a lying, cheating scumbag-player-douche looking for nothing but a little side action. Jerk.
And he has the nerve to call me a liar and a “sociopath”? Assh*le.
I loved the dynamics of this book the humor the hotness and the family feel with great characters.
An enjoyable read that leads to a swoon-worthy ending.
Looking forward to reading more from Lauren Rowe. Books can be read in any order although I read Ball Peen Hammer first, Keane is still single in this book and when you reach the hea three years later he is then with Maddy at another wedding so to be read in order isn’t necessary.
I listened to this book on audio, the narration is brilliant, Ryan’s voice is so smooth and sexy and Tessa’s really suits her.
A feel-good recommended romance
I have always attempted to give ‘star’ ratings on my completed reads, just as a tracking method for my titles that I have completed. I have unlimited packages for audio, kindle, and utilize the local/state library.
However, I do not check the ‘I recommend this book’ unless I am willing to reread a book and or a series.
[I read about 5-15 books a month through kindle, and I listen to about 15-30 books monthly]
I have a full life as a nurse, professor, wife, daughter [daughter in law], sister, and mother. I love to read and love a thousand other lives by turning the pages in countless books.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review. Happy reading 🙂
Great characters; hot and funny
I read the Club trilogy way back when, but sort of forget about this author until I read Rockstar (Morgan Brothers 5) recently. After kicking myself for not reading more from her sooner, I decided to read the rest of the series according to the author’s recommended order, which was Hero as book 1, and now book 2, Captain, which is Ryan’s story. Timeline wise, I think all these Morgan Brothers books overlap to some extent (the Club series is mostly earlier), and you can really read each of them as a standalone. However, as typical with this kind of series, reading more of the books gives you more background on the crossover characters, enriching your reading experience: it was nice to have the full story behind how Jonas and Sarah met, and I think I would have really liked to have read Josh and Kat’s story first as this book takes place around their wedding.
It was a cute setup; Ryan is forced into a complicated dance to try to gain Tessa’s trust and lay the groundwork for a long term relationship while she is adamant that what happens on the island, stays on the island. I enjoyed the push and pull between Ryan and Tessa; there was plenty of heat but there was sweetness and romance, too. I loved Ryan’s determination and I was really cheering for him to succeed.
One of the things I love most about this series is the love and camaraderie between all the different characters, and this book especially (with the wedding at the center of so much activity), family and friends play important roles—and I’d pay real money to see the guys hula dancing, lol. I do have to say that secret keeping as part of the plot isn’t a favorite of mine, and there were different people keeping secrets for varying lengths of time here. The author handled it well though, and while I got a little antsy around 70% with the secret keeping, I wasn’t actually tempted to jump ahead which is what usually happens with these kinds of plots. And I absolutely adored the ending…it was completely perfect!
Hot and funny, once again it’s all the great characters and their relationships that made the story for me. Onto Keane’s book! 4.5 stars
I absolutely love the Morgan family and Ryan Morgan is my second favorite Morgan. I began this series out of order with Ball Peen Hammer, Hero, and now Captain who captured my heart. I love Tessa’s nickname T-Rod. Insta-love /insta-lust takes Ryan Morgan through many challenges to find his flight attendant. I love the witty banter between the characters. Supporting character’s accentuated the narrative, they make you want to be part of the Mogan clan. I loved both mc’s and what they went through to get their hea. Overall, a cute & funny story.
I love that the author narates her own books. I think her heroine’s character is brought out more as well as we fer get to know them better. Together Lauren Rowe and John Lane narrate this beauty perfectly. They are fun narators to listen to together.
I love this series and hope to get a chance to listen to the last two audiobooks in this entertaining series.
I both read and listened to this book and I loved both versions. Ryan (Capt. Morgan, Rum Cake, etc.) is easy to fall in love with even if he is a bit of a crazy stalker. It looks good on him. Tessa is equally as lovable and as always the sex is hot. I think Lauren Rowe is responsible for a lot of my adult sex education through her books. All the fun aside, because it is a fun book to read, it is also romantic and heartwarming. Not to mention the references to Moby Dick are just cool. I would take any of the Morgan brothers but Ryan is in the running for being my favorite.
I recently discovered Lauren Rowe and so happy I did..I loved Hero the book 1 in the series and jumped right into this one..Ryan Ulysses Morgan (RUM)..was fantastic. He may be one of my favorites of the Morgan boy’s. So sweet and loved his journey with T Rod. I loved the humor especially all the nicknames they have for each other. It was a fun twist on the other romance books that I read. I read 1500 in the last year and this is definitely on my Top 10 list this year. Just finished Ball Peen Hammer the book 3.
This one was my first book by this author and after being recommended her many times, I finally could read it. I have to say I’m not dissapointed. I really liked her writing and how the story was portrayed. However I can’t say I was totally in love with it from the beginning but the story grew on me. I enjoyed reading it and how can you just not love Ryan 🙂 The other characters in this book really made the story even better, they way they clicked, it was a joy to read. I liked the connection between Ryan and Tessa and look forward to reading the others in this series.
Tessa has been out of a bad break-up and doesn’t want to get too close to another guy in the near future for that matter. The wounds have cut her deep but when she meets Ryan one night, everything seems to fall into place but something happens and the night ends abruptly. Now months later she needs to plan a week of romance for her boss and his fiancée, not to mention all the family members that are coming with them on vacation, and she and Ryan meet again. But Tessa does everything she can to try and keep her emotions in check but it just flies out of the window the second they are together. But will they have a chance for true love? Or will her reservations keep them apart?..
