This was my first read in the Zodiac Guardians series, and I loved it. Jareth lives alone after losing his parents in an accident (or was it?) until Veronica explodes into his life. She is followed by Tristan and Brielle. But these three are not the ordinary teens they seem…and neither is Jareth. Secrets, danger, and death paint Jareth’s world. Will he take his place as a Guardian? (Bye, I have to go and read the first book, now.)

Another amazing read in this series. The characters are captivating and engaging you get pulled into their story and have to keep reading to see how things are going to work out. I’m so thrilled I gave these authors a try. I’ve been trying out new to me authors and have been greatly impressed with their books

honestly i jump to this book because i love the cover, but i dnf this book in like 20 % on , like i said i jump this book so the events on the other books is a great part so is impossible to read this as standalone, i got super frustrated to not understand what is skin or chardis , or who is this other people, i got so lost in this story that i just jump to chapters to see if it get better, so i just go to the end, and i was dissapointed, maybe if i start reading since the begining i will come back to this, but idk. the characters tristan, brielle it came from before so maybe it is just a extend in this, but jareth and veronica , i dont know i didnt feel anything reading that i can conect with them, i didnt feel the chemistry, honestly i try to finish reading to maybe try to fall to this book but i just cant finish is just frustrating to not know what are they talking about, why is so important to find the other zodiacs, there is not a summary of why is that important

I really truly enjoyed this book. I love the character development, the world building, the plot, all of it. My personal meter of a well written book is when I feel anxiety for the characters whether they be in physical or emotional peril. I felt both in this story. The whole series is shaping up really well!
Why the 3 stars then? I understand this is fantasy and I can, personally, suspend reality on most things. I have a different expectation when it comes to urban fantasy such as this. When we are talking about places in the real world, they need to reflect real world aspects. My problem started here when Agent Cadbury was sent to Las Vegas and was expected to drive. I know the government is cheap, but expecting an agent to drive for 37 hours alone is a bit much for me. When he then decides to investigate Tristan some more instead of going, I felt like we dodged a bullet. During his investigation, he finds a need to go to Oregon. That is about a 43 hour trip one way according to Google Maps. I have no issue with the thought of him choosing to drive that distance by himself when it is his own dime. My problem here is the timeline. He appears to go and come back within a matter of 3 days. Driving. Admittedly, living in the western United States I am a bit touchy when people misconstrue our geography. So much of my own country doesn’t understand the distances required to travel from one state to the next out here. This was a little oversight that nearly took me out of the story completely. The sad part is that the distance of travel was easily discovered by a 30 second google search. I appreciate the desire to show great distance in picking Oregon, but I feel like the plot would not have been impacted had the authors chosen destinations on the east coast that would have been more believable to the timeline.
This is not enough to get me to stop reading this series. As I said, I am really enjoying it. I just hope that the authors are a little more thorough in their consideration of the timeline in future installments.
