“National Bestseller—New York Times, USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly, Wall Street Journal”The funny and talented Chip Gaines is well known to millions of people as a TV star, renovation expert, bestselling author, husband to Joanna, and father of five in Waco, Texas. But long before the world took notice, Chip was a serial entrepreneur who was always ready for the next challenge, even if it didn’t … ready for the next challenge, even if it didn’t quite work out as planned. Whether it was buying a neighborhood laundromat or talking a bank into a loan for some equipment to start a lawn-mowing service, Chip always knew that the most important thing was to take that first step.
Now a #1 New York Times bestselling book, Capital Gaines offers readers a ringside seat as Chip relives some of his craziest antics and the lessons learned along the way. His mentors taught him to never give up and his family showed him what it meant to always have a positive attitude despite your circumstances. Throw in a natural daredevil personality and a willingness to do (or eat!) just about anything, and you have the life and daily activity of Chip Gaines.
Capital Gaines is the perfect book for anyone looking to succeed not only in business but more importantly in life.

If you love Magnolia and Chip and Joanna, this is a great look at how the empire was built. It was written while they were deciding to stop the tv show. Thinking about what makes a successful life and how to manage everything (or not) is part of the story line.
Cozy readers will love the inside look at one of HGTV couples and their Texas home.
This book was my introduction to Chip and Joanna Gaines, and it’s quite entertaining. I spent the first half of the book shaking my head and giggling in disbelief at Chip’s fearlessness and, well, lack of forward planning. I seem to be much more like his wife in those areas. However, the second part of the book got me cheering out loud at (most of) his message (being sent out to figure something out on my own with little instruction from him–eek!!), even though that message clearly flows from who God made him to be as displayed in the first part. Demolishing fear, loving well, following God even when it seems crazy–I love that he’s broadcasting that message and pray many grab hold and live it boldly.
Chip is funny and inspiring . Great book
Love Chip and Joanna Gaines! Their stories are fascinating and inspiring!
If you’re a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines, be sure to read this book. I assumed Capital Gaines would be an entertaining and informative read, and it was. But it was also motivational. Bonus!
Great book! I listened to this on Audible, and I’m so glad I did because Chip narrates it, and brings his personality into the words. I liked this book even more than Joanna’s book, probably because I got a lot more business and character type lessons out of it. I’ll even probably listen to this one again! Some hilarious stories in there as well 🙂 Bravo, Chip!
The book is a page-turner. Chip Gaines voice rings clear on each page. The book is full of life lessons that will help anyone.
Great advice and experiences.
Great inside look into the everyday lives of an awesome couple as seen through the eyes of Chip. This was a fun read!
It was fun reading about Chip becoming Chip. Great inspiration about creating your own success. Definitely recommend.
Not what I was hoping for. A little to much rah rah for my taste. I kept getting the feeling that someone was going to walk on water before it ended. But I do like the tv show.
I am a big fan of the Gaines so it was bound to be a winner with me!
In his book, Chip is honest, fun (would you expect anything else?), and “get off your couch” motivational.
Good book , very easy read.
Loved this book…
This book has given me a better look at the Man Chip is. And how he got to where he is in Life. His Faith in God shines all though this book. He is a hard worker and has a heart of Gold. Everyone should read this book. It inspires you to be a better person. We all need to dig ditches side by side more. And then sit down to a meal and just talk to each other more. I feel very moved by this man. Only goodness needs to follow Chip, Joanna & the “kiddos”. Love this book and Family.
This is an interesting personal narrative by Chip Gaines, who sounds just like his own reality tv self in this writing. He shares background information of his life that is not mentioned on their tv show called “Fixer Upper”. Whoever has watched the program might readily be pleased to read the story.
Gave me a new understanding of why Chip and Joanna are so popular!! They have tried it, failed, but got up, dusted off their pants and tried again!! Excellent encouragement.
Just wish it would have applied more to Chip in a business-lessons mentality. Maybe I should’ve read The Magnolia Story to get that. This is an entertaining read and gives the reader great insight into Chip’s foundations.
I liked it
