Exhausted by the futility of her efforts against the city’s endemic problems and the revolving door of violence in her Chicago emergency room, Dr. Miranda Campbell came home to Wishful, where she knew she could make a real difference in people’s lives. Between her clinic, a rotation in the hospital’s ER, volunteer work at the new women’s shelter, and time spent with family and friends, her life … life is full. But it’s not too full to notice a sexy lawman when she sees one.
Former US Marshal Ethan Greer is still settling into the job as Wishful’s new Chief of Police, but he’s starting to realize it may be years before he’ll ever be considered one of the locals. Fair enough. He’s the first to admit that making the shift to small town policing is a big adjustment. After losing his marriage and almost his life in line of duty, the slow pace of Wishful is a change he’s happy to make.
While Miranda’s and Ethan interest in each other is mutual, he’s not sure about taking on a serious relationship. That’s just fine with her. But when Miranda is targeted in an escalating chain of threatening events, Ethan’s Marshal instincts go on overdrive. Miranda’s rose-colored view of Wishful is putting her in danger. She’s become more than a casual fling or a job responsibility. With Ethan’s training screaming at him to put her in protective custody, can he find out who’s behind the threats before he pushes Miranda away?

Awesome book
A PERFECT BLEND OF SMALL TOWN ROMANCE AND GRIPPING SUSPENSE. FIVE DELIGHTED STARS!
I couldn’t take my eyes off this book! I’m usually not a fan of small town romances, which are often too sweet for my taste. But I decided to give this one a try, and I’m so glad I did. Readers who like stories with some steamy sex will find just the right amount here: nothing overly explicit, but definitely not dull! Sex aside, the gripping suspense is what makes this one so special.
Here’s a bit of the plot (A FEW SPOILERS AHEAD!). Our heroine (Miranda) is a doctor who recently opened a medical clinic in her hometown of Wishful, Mississippi. She meets our hero (Ethan), the town’s sexy new Chief of Police, and it’s lust at first sight between them. But someone in town carries a grudge against Miranda, leading to her car being vandalized and its tires slashed. Ethan tries to discover the perpetrator before things escalate, while Miranda struggles to help a victim of brutal, ongoing spousal abuse.
Suspense mounts as mysterious incidents multiply. When a mutilated animal is left on Miranda’s front porch and her shed is set on fire, Ethan moves in with her in order to keep her safe. Then her clinic is vandalized, drawing a possible link to recent pharmacy robberies in a nearby town. Are all of these nefarious incidents related somehow? Things culminate when Miranda is kidnapped by a man bent on revenge, and Ethan must use every skill he possesses in a desperate effort to rescue her before it’s too late.
Many suspense plots are too far-fetched for me, with crazed perpetrators who are easily conquered by the heroes. Not this time! The final chapters of this book are chilling, gripping, and utterly believable as Ethan risks his own life in an attempt to save the woman he loves. Will he succeed? Read this book and find out. You’ll also be tempted to read other books in the series, since Miranda and Ethan have many friends and relatives with their own stories to tell.
Kait Nolan’s books are a delight for several reasons. Her amazing skill as a writer always shines, but I also appreciate her attention to detail and accuracy. In this book, her thorough research into medical procedures and police rescue operations added authenticity to the plot. Her plots and characters are realistic and likeable, except for the villains, of course. (And you’ll love Ethan!) Kudos also for limited profanity and for professional editing and proofreading. Truly a pleasurable reading experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great story – edge of your seat – can’t put down
Very much enjoyed Miranda and Ethan’s rocky path to love! Another very enjoyable read in the Wishful series.
I did have to skip over a lot of steamy parts.
Oh wow, I loved another one of Kait Nolan’s books! This one has it all…romance, suspense, love, drama, a sexy cowboy, action and HEA. I couldn’t put it down till I finished it, I so recommend this book. I loved all the references to old westerns to go with that cowboy, had me thinking of John Wayne and Roy Rogers.
I have been provided with a copy of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by the author via Booksprout for an impartial review. This is the third book in the Wishing For A Hero series and we finally get to see some familiar characters find each other. In this story we get to see Dr. Miranda Campbell and Chief of Police Ethan Greer take an interest in each other. I absolutely loved getting to see more of these characters and that they finally got their own story. This book was just so easy to get into and I just couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author her books are just wonderful.
Can’t Take My Eyes Off You: Exhausted by the futility of her efforts against Chicago’s endemic problems and the revolving door of violence in her ER, Dr. Miranda Campbell came home to Wishful, MS. He is the first to admit that making the shift to small town policing is a big adjustment. After losing his marriage and almost his life in line of duty, the slow pace of Wishful is a change he is happy to make. – The flirtations between Miranda and Ethan were entertaining. I enjoyed reading about their relationship developing. The book is slow, however, and I thought about quitting it several times.
Typical of genre, nothing unexpected.
Ethan and Miranda are a terrific couple! They set off sparks whenever they are together. It was really enjoyable watching their relationship blossom and grow. The story was well-written with developed characters and an interesting plot. The villain was who I thought it would be but that didn’t detract from the story. I got ticked at Miranda for being so naïve. She might be a “local” but she had lived in Chicago for years and had firsthand knowledge of violence having worked in the ER. She didn’t take the threats seriously enough, IMO. My heart broke for Johnny. I was pleased to learn, in the epilogue, he was doing okay.
I urge you to read all the books related to Wishful. They are all wonderful stories that will melt your heart and make you want to call Wishful home.
4 1/2 Stars
This is a great small town story about 2 people who have no interest in romance being drawn together. It has the right amount of romance, suspense, mystery and danger. The characters are interesting and have plenty of chemistry and spark. The action and mystery will keep you turning pages. This had my interest from start to finish and I can recommend to anyone who likes small town romance with a little suspense thrown in.
Can’t Take My Eyes Off You is another fabulous visit to Wishful and a chance to catch up with some old friends. When local Doctor Miranda and Police chief Ethan crossed paths at the diner the attraction was instant but both had very busy lives and their romance was very slow to start. This is so much more than a small town romance but you will have to read it to find out why. Kait Nolan is an amazing author with the skill to create characters and places that become real and make you feel as if you know them well. Although this book is part of the Wishful Heroes series it is also a perfect stand-alone romantic suspense and can be enjoyed with out reading any of the other books. However I recommend you do read the others .. in any order as they are simply wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot recommend it highly enough.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Can’t Take My Eyes Off You is book 3 in the Wishing for a Hero series by Kait and as always it’s well written, suspenseful, laughter, great character and finding love!
Miranda, a doctor who decides to come back home to Wishful to start her own practice seems to have rose colored glasses for her hometown because nothing bad ever happens in town like all the stuff she saw in the big city. Until she decides to tell off a former high school classmate and then small things start happening and soon escalates to more than vandalism.
Ethan a former US Marshall and now Wishful’s new police chief and wants to prove that he’s ready for small town life. When he meets Miranda the sparks fly but they have differences of opinion when it comes to seeing the good in people. When things start happening to Miranda his spidey senses pick up that things will escalate and he needs to keep her safe but can he do that and keep his heart locked up?
Love his small town!! The more you read about Wishful the more you want to go there…
