Loved this couple. Friends to lovers. I love it!
I fell in love immediately with the best friends – Gideon and Lennox aka Lenny – who want to be more than just friends, though neither knows the feelings of the other. I also loved that Ms. Neal brought characters from her other books into this story. 35-year-old Gideon had to give up his dream of being a star football player due to an on-field injury, so he and Gideon have been friends since their college days. She is currently on hiatus from her true profession as a psychologist and works in the matchmaking division of a company called Connect. She also counsels military vets in her spare time, loves to speak Spanish, loves tacos, and hates green vegetables. Lenny doesn’t want to go through life conforming; she wants to live an adventurous life, whatever that may be. The witty banter and obvious sexual tension between Gideon and Lenny throughout the story was so relatable to me — I just couldn’t get enough. I loved them as a couple, right up to the part when I wanted to slap Lenny silly! Thank God for Gideon; he is my hero. I’m sure everyone who reads their story will love it as much as I do. Xavier Neal makes my heart full with every book she writes.
I have been reading Xavier Neal books for a couple of years.
I continued to be amazed and delighted with the Emotional, and sometimes funny stories she seems to bring write to her Readers.
I feel in the love with the Bro Series, along with Camelot. And cried buckets for Walking Away.
But Can’t Match This had me so much in my feelings.
Gideon and Lennox Antics had me laughing so much. Her quirky way she writes notes on much anything she find, to his Always cooking making sure she ate. Anyone could tell how they felt about one another.
But these two was so leery of breaking thier Best friend relationship, they couldn’t manage to get it together.
But what happens when the lines between friendship and Passion collide.
The first kiss between them was HAF. So damn heated you felt it yourself. Loved the way Lenny made Gideon squirm while using Spanish while having Sex.
It was supposed to be One night only they promised themself.
Yeah right, it turned into more, and more into a Hot Delicious Story of Friends, Love, Trust and Commitment.
Xavier never disappoints.
Sweet baby Jesus, Gideon!!!!!! I loved this book!!!! I love friends to lovers tropes, because that’s how my marriage started out, friends to lovers!!!!! This is my favorite trope!!!! Xavier Neal is a phenomenally talented author and she never ceases to amaze me with every book of hers I dive into!!!!
There are so many myths about love. Men and women can’t just be friends, opposites attract….etc etc. And Xavier Neal’s latest thrill ride, Can’t Match This, proves them all to be right and wrong.
Gideon and Lennox are best friends, have been for years. But are they just friends? We’ve all been told men and women can’t just be friends. But isn’t your significant other supposed to be your best friend? Love is so confusing, not only for you and me, but for Gideon and Lennox, too.
Gideon is a sports agent and he takes OCD to a new level. Lennox is free spirited and a little scattered at times. Opposites, right? So shouldn’t they attract? Do they or don’t they?
Grab Xavier’s latest masterpiece and find out all the answers to your questions. Or will you finish it with even more questions?

This was the most frustrating friends-to-lovers romance. The two were too stupid to live based on the single fact that they were both attracted to each other but continued with her setting him up on dates and him going on said dates all while groping and eventually sleeping with each other. Stupid! Just fucking stupid and mind-numbing.
This is my second book by this author, a best friends-to-lovers romance with loads of funny banter between the main characters who can’t keep their hands off each other.
Lennox Marston aka Lenny is a psychologist and currently working as a “matchmaker” for an online dating company and also working as a therapist for veterans. Lenny is opinionated and strong-minded, her job is to give out advice but tends to ignore it when she gets one. And oh yes, she has also been in love with her best friend of twelve years, Gideon.
Gideon Lucas was a fullback in college when a sports-related injury cut short his dreams of being a pro and led him to become a sports agent. His drive to succeed propelled him and Mick, his business partner, to the top of their field. He and Lenny bonded in college, they are a perfect fit but somehow never crossed that line for fear of ruining their friendship.
Told in dual points of view, this is quite an entertaining albeit frustrating read at times. The problem with these two is that they have painted themselves into the friend-zone corner and neither knows how to take the next step. Gideon and Lenny’s interactions are akin to that of a couple dancing the sexual tango, going backwards and forwards, with lots of fancy footwork and always in sync. Most often she spends the night at his place, sleeps on his bed literally without the hanky panky of course because they are “just friends”. These two love each other that it is so obvious to those close to them and yet are oblivious to the other’s body language, for two intelligent individuals these pair can be a bit obtuse. The outcome is quite predictable but I loved the main characters’ passion for their jobs and their witty dialogue. This is a quick angst-free read and if I were you, I’d give it a go as I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! (Reviewed on behalf of KindleFriendsForever).
This was such a good read!
Gideon and Lennox, along with Gideon’s business partner Mick, have been best friends since college. (My only complaint about the book: sometimes it said they became friends freshman year, others it says junior year.) Gideon and Lennox have been in love with each other the entire time but neither one knows how the other feels, and both are too afraid of ruining their perfect friendship by acting on it and being rejected. Gideon and Lenny make a deal – she will set him up with 7 different blind dates through the matchmaking website she works for, and challenges him to find someone with whom to go on a second date.
I loved Lenny. She was so funny, and her free spirit is enviable. She is not afraid to find her place in the world even if that means defying others’ ideas of conventional success. She is bubbly and intuitive, and a lot smarter than she lets on. She and Gideon work so well together and balance each other out perfectly. I can’t even pick a favorite part of the book since so many stand out, but if I had to choose one I’d go with the epilogue, which I can’t describe because SPOILERS!
If you want a fun, easy read with characters you will love, get this book today.
This story is done well. Gideon and Lennox are a really nice couple. Their journey together is one 90s filled adventure, which as a child of the 80s I really didn’t get. There is a lot of talk about movies and music I never saw or heard of. I don’t watch chick movies. I gave this 5 stars for the plot, writing, and flow of this book. Otherwise it’s a 4. I will leave it up to you to decided if you like it.
It’s fun and sexy friends to lovers story. It sucked me in from the beginning. I loved the connection and banter between the characters. The chemistry is sizzling and steamy. It’s entertaining and definitely not to be missed.
Loved this story!!! Loved the back and forth of two people that loved each other but were afraid to say the words. Their actions showed a love that will last a lifetime but their fear almost cost them that. Xavier did an amazing job of getting you to fall in love with the characters and really root for them to get it together. Another job well done!!
This book is a sweet, friends to lovers, fun romantic comedy. It was a book that made you love the characters but instead of like wanting the hero or adoring the heroine because she is strong or something like that, I wanted to be their friend, I could see my self sitting at a table with them just relaxing and have some fun.
Gideon is fun but maybe a little uptight sports agent who work too much but always have time for his best friend. He has been in love with her for years but think it is one-sided and don’t want to ruin their friendship. Gideon comes off as a little arrogant and like he thinks a little too much about himself but at the same time is Lennox his whole world so he gives of mix signals for me but I love how he is with Lennox and their friendship is so easy and they are so close that I don’t get how they couldn’t have been a couple for years.
Lennox is a fun tomboy who is always one of the guys and she loves it like that. She is okay with not being the woman you want to take to bed but the one you call when you wanna trash talk the latest game and share a good beer. But she wishes her best friend saw her in a different light but also know that she wouldn’t change a thing about her self and Gideon only want the bombshell girl with a blooming career and that is not her.
All in all, I loved this couple together they were a match made in heaven. Even if this is a slow burn kinda book and they normally feel like they are killing me because I have no patience, this book was so fun and easy going that I didn’t get frustrated at all and was just enjoying the ride Xavier Neal was taking me on.
So do you need a fun light book with no drama or other heavy stuff then this is the book for you.
It has been a while since I have read a really good friends to lovers romance book. Xavier takes the cake with Lenny and Gideon. What an amazing rendition of when best friends love each other, but are too afraid to tell. Lenny is sweet, sassy, and has a heart of gold and wants to help others in the world. Gideon is our successful, gorgeous athlete turned agent.
This book is extremely relatable like all of Xavier’s works. I found myself many times going “I have felt like that!” And “this totally happened to me!” It will have you laughing, crying, and of course yelling at the book when something happens. Lenny and Gideon have an amazing friendship and have for years. But Gideon has a secret. Lenny has always been one of the guys, but never the girlfriend. Will their love stand a chance? Or will this not be a match made in heaven? Read to find out!! Get ready for a roller coaster of emotions, and cameos from other series favorites. Thank you X for another kick ass read!
This was a fun quick read for me that I really enjoyed. Lenny and Gideon are both fighting the attraction they have for each other because they don’t wanna ruin there friendship. Lord help these two they are beyond perfect for each other but they have no clues about the other. Its hilarious watching all his dates she sets him up on bomb and go so bad. These two take forever to realize what’s happening but its really cute to watch.
One of my favorite Friends to Lovers books ever!!!! Lenny is absolutely one of my fave female characters in any book! Her love of 90s and tacos is amazing! Gideon is by far the best best friend ever. You will laugh, swoon, and fall completely head over heels in love with this couple! 5 perfect stars for this witty and clever rom com!!!
Such a fun story! I always enjoy reading Xavier Neal’s stories, she brings everything she can to it, and you can’t help but dwell on it. The hot scenes have so much heat that you’ll need a fan, and the romantic scenes will give you a toothache 😉
I’ve read Senses series from Xavier Neal and I loved it…It was amazing! So I thought I should give this new book a chance and I don’t regret. It was something new, sweet, soft, and good.
Lenny and Gideon are best friends since school. They know each other very well, they complete one another. They’ve always loved each other very much, even beyond friendship, but they were scared to admit it or to try something more. Afraid to lose the other, even as a friend…afraid that“the other”feeling wasn’t mutual. So they remained best friends. Until now…
They made a deal…since Lenny works as a matchmaker at ”Connect”, and she is very good at matching couples. So now she wants to match Gideon. Gideon has to date 7 girls chosen by Lenny. If Lenny doesn’t find the one for Gideon, she has to quit her job as matching people and find a real job as a therapist.
Will Lenny succeed? Will Gideon find the one? Could Lenny see him with another woman, especially chosen by her? Well, you need to read the book to find out.
This book is a pretty story about real friendship that turns to love. Sweet, soft…pure love. So if you enjoy friends to lovers story, this book is the one for you.
I recommend this book!
I am already anhuge fan of Xavier and this was a fantastic friends to lovers read with some awesome throw back references! Loved it so much and giggled a lot as well!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. Gideon and Lennox, or Lenny as he calls her, are definitely two of my favorite characters. They are friends who have been in love with each other for years. The only reason they aren’t together already is they are scared of ruining their friendship. The characters we’re funny and relatable which I loved. You will definitely enjoy them and fun fact Lenny is obsessed with all things 90s so that makes it even more fun.
I loved Gideon and Lennox sooo much! They grabbed me from the start and had me loving every minute. Lennox is amazing, I love how carefree she is, full of life, fun and is comfortable with being silly, reading situations and just being herself. Gideon is in charge, sweet, strong and is so deeply connected to Lenny from the beginning it’s swoon worthy. Their journey is a must read!!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
