The newest Santa is found dead with a candy cane in his neck. Who would want to kill Santa? Dee Dee, Miss May’s sister is arrested because of the big protest of her trying to save Fred the huge 300-year-old tree and that the new Santa wants a real tree, not a fake tree. He and Dee Dee had some heated words earlier. This puts Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny on the case. Can they find out the real reason the mean Santa was killed? It won’t be easy, plus Germany is wanting to show Chelsea about his undying love for her. Things get rather strange and odd as is normally does with Miss May and the girls. A great, wonderfully written cozy mystery set during the holiday season. Chelsea does a fantastic job writing her stories so they pull the reader in, are entertaining, have wonderful characters and make it so the reader can’t wait for the next book from her. Love all the books I’ve read from her and this one did not disappoint.

It’s Christmas time in Pine Grove! As the residents and neighbors gather for the tree lighting ceremony, there is a big problem, no tree! Environmentalists, lead by DeeDee, Miss May’s sister, don’t want “Fred” the chosen fir to be cut down! The new Santa, Orville Starr, storms away only to be found later in the gazebo behind city hall. Unfortunately, he was dead, stabbed in the neck with a candy cane! Who could do such a thing, DeeDee who was fighting for “Fred”, Lincoln, the Elf who appeared in town looking to “work” with Santa again, or maybe Mrs. Claus, Cookie Starr. The three amateur sleuths again eat and plan their strategy to solve this latest crime
Welcome to Christmas in Pine Grove. Chelsea and Miss May once again must solve a murder, this time to clear Miss May’s sister DeeDee. This story has lots of twists and great characters. A great addition to the series with a holiday theme.

Our 3 super sleuths Miss May, Chelsea and of course Teeny really have their work cut out for them as the victim is new to town so no one really knows him. There are plenty of twists and to be honest at times I thought maybe this one will be the one they can’t solve. I liked how we got to know Linda the Mayor a bit more and well I just don’t how I feel about Chelsea and Mr Turtle… Good luck guessing who the killer is and candy canes will never be the same again lol

Love this series! The characters are like family members. Teeny is crazy and total fun. Chelsea and Miss May are so realistic; they make you laugh at their antics. The story is totally fun and will keep you entertained. This series is wonderful and I have enjoyed every book. The Christmas theme is a new twist and perfect for this time of year. Always looking for new books by Chelsea Thomas because they are all very entertaining. I purchased a copy of this book through KU so that I can read it again.
This latest family-friendly episode from Pine Grove, New York occurs in December and takes about a day to read.

it’s just not a tree lighting without a tree – add in a Santa disaster, and it must be Christmastime in Pine Grove.
Chelsea, Teeny and Aunt May are a terrific crime fighting trio. Anti tree harvesting Aunt DeeDee is a hippy twist to the tree farm/orchard/ bake shop owning family.
Germany Turtle is an hilarious and charming romantic addition to life to Chelsea- and is not nearly as fickle as detective Wayne the dork.
Much ado this Christmas in Pine Grove- and the ladies and their friend and cohorts do their best to save the season!
Fun KU Christmas read!
When the mayor hires an out of town disagreeable Santa Claus all chaos breaks loose at the tree lighting! It is a good time of year for Aunt May and Chelsea at the tree farm and May’s best friend, Teeny at her restaurant. When it was time to put a tree in the town square for the lighting, May’s sister a bit eccentric, yet a strong environmental advocate creates a one woman rebellion against cutting down the chosen Christmas Tree she named Fred! So without the tree on the square, they were going ahead to having the Santa for the kids. While waiting for the Santa to show up the crowd grew restless. When Chelsea and May go looking for him, they find him dead in the gazebo – murdered with a candy cane! Because May’s sister DeeDee had an argument with the Santa, they arrest her for the murder. May, Chelsea and Teeny now have to get involved trying to solve the mystery and free DeeDee! Now we start with all the twists and turns, red-herrings and laughs as well as some unusual characters that show up. Will they find the answer when so many things still point to DeeDee? This is a really fun series with lots of laugh out loud moments – a must read! I received and ARC but opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
It’s Christmas in Pine Grove, a murderous time of year. Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are on the case! These characters are lively and the book is well written. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
This series of books featuring sleuths Chelsea, Miss May, and Miss May’s best friend Teeny. These three find themselves knee-deep in murder. That’s not necessarily unusual for these three but when Miss May’s sister, Dee Dee, is arrested, it becomes personal. So, in between taking care of business, selling Christmas trees and delicacies from their bakery, the three set off to discover who the killer is with no help from the very inept police.
I’ve read a number of the books in this series and although it’s a series, each book works well as a stand-alone. It’s filled with humour, sarcasm, and even some pathos. I love these stories and unfortunately(for me), everything else tends to get pushed aside. I just keep saying I’ll stop after this next chapter. But that never works…..I finished the book in one afternoon to a very satisfying conclusion.

Candy Slain is book 6 in the Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery series by Chelsea Thomas.
“Killed by a Candy Cane” That’s the scariest headline ever written in the Pine Grove Gazette. But this holiday season, it’s all too true…
This killer had a sweet tooth. So the December air is crisp and just a bit creepy this year.
Red-faced children throw snowballs. Elderly couples drink hot chocolate in the cold. Chelsea and Miss May speed through town in their VW Bus, hunting yet another killer.
Miss May is a sharp former lawyer, determined to make candy canes sweet again. Chelsea, Miss May’s Watson, just wants to solve the mystery without changing out of her fuzzy red Santa slippers.

I continue to enjoy this cozy mystery series. I find them to be well written and very entertaining. The plot moves at a steady pace that keeps you engaged. The characters are well-developed and we learn a little bit more about them each new book.
Teeny always evokes a giggle or two, and I rarely laugh out loud so when I do you know I am enjoying the book.
I highly recommend this book/series. It can easily stand alone but I recommend you read the series from the beginning.

Pine Grove hired a talented Santa, but in real life, Orville has a talent for making enemies. When Santa fails to appear at the celebration, a new mystery begins for Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny. Honestly, this series keeps getting better. The characters remain fresh, the writing crisp, and the storyline solid. I recommend Candy Slain, as well as the entire series.

The zany characters in this book will keep you laughing, as Chelsea, Teeny, and Miss May are involved in another murder. And you definitely won’t want to leave your list with this Santa or his elf.

Candy Slain is a wonderful book. It is full of drama, crazy adventures and witty humor. The characters are fantastic. Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny are an hilarious team and they are great at solving murder. Candy Slain is fun and interesting. The mystery has so many twists to keep you guessing. I really enjoyed this book.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Once again there has been a murder in the small town of Pine Grove and Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny are on the case.
At first Miss May does not want to get involved, but when the police arrest someone close to her she feels that she has to get involved, as the police are useless.
This case is quite a difficult case for the trio as the murder victim is from out of town, he came to town to be Santa .
So it’s a case of who killed Santa??
There seem to be quite a few suspects as apparently Santa was not very nice
Then another man comes to town saying he was Santa’s little elf, he then gets murdered
This book is another great book in this series of book’s with the trio doing what they do best, eating some tasty sounding food and solving crime
I’d definitely recommend this book as a great read
Really book 6 already! Congrats.
Before Santa is deposed of, he manages to help create an uproar over the Christmas tree for the lighting ceremony. Besides that, what is Santa really up to? This is the question that the team must find the answer to , in order to find who did him in.
Chelsea, who says you can only date one guy at a time? There is no ring on your finger. They each have their own special qualities. Just a saying……
Cute fun cozy read. Very enjoyable. Can be read by itself, especially if just starting here. But you might want to go back and check out the quirkiness of the characters.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
The author has given us such wonderful characters. When the town santa is killed the evening of the tree lighting, poor Aunt DeeDee is arrested for the crime. Everyone in town had issues with the victim so the little group of Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea take it upon themselves to find the true killer.
