Fun series set in a lovely small town with great, likable characters. Will definitely read more by this author. I was given a free ARC through booksprout. My review is freely and honestly given
Candy, Carpenters, and Candlesticks is a nicely written story from Paula Lester. This series is a bit different than the others that I have enjoyed, but different is good. The characters are adorable especially Marco as he learns the ins and outs of the English language and customs. I can’t wait to see what happens next for Paige and Marco.

This book, fourth in the series, was one I was looking forward to! I was not disappointed. Paige continued to get herself settled in her new hometown, and work began on her house. While juggling this, an antique love letter comes into her life, and ultimately, takes the life of another! We learn more about other characters, and are either enamored, or highly disappointed with their behaviors. Surprising ending. Well done!

Good character development and unpredictable. However I thought it needed more humor
No would have thought finding of an old love letter and trying to find the author of the letter would lead to murder. A great summer time read that will have you laughing as Paige the book store owner tries to bring a killer to justice and deals with Comfort Cove’s nosy residents.

As Paige is sorting through a bunch of donated books for her bookshop, she discovers an old love letter. Moved by the writer’s words, she wonders about the couple and if they ever found true love and happiness. Paige discusses the option of finding the owner of the book and letter on the down low, but before she knows it a full-page spread in the local newspaper is printed which discusses the letter and leaves Paige’s business number as a contact. She soon finds out who the letter writer is and he is not too happy that Paige has gone to the press. Before he can retrieve the letter and cover up the whole love letter story, he is found dead. This is Book 4 in the Beachside Books Magical Cozy Mystery series. Paige already has her hands full when an old love letter she finds is published without her consent and leads to murder. No surprise that Paige just can’t walk away from it but she may be wearing down her detective brother’s resistance to her, uh, help. I enjoyed this book, the story and pacing kept my interest through the end. I like the interplay of the different personalities and the vegan cooking thread that runs through all the books.

I think the moral of this book should be to hide a secret love letter better! Oh, and don’t murder someone. Yeah, that’s a biggie!
This book had me laughing, surprised, and sad, too. The ending was shocking. I’m going to be on pins and needles waiting for the next one!

Paige Murphy took the two large boxes of books donated by the church from her assistant, Emma, amazed that the woman had carried the heavy boxes from the parking lot into her bookstore. Thirty years of stocking the shelves at the grocery store had done wonders for the 63-year-old woman’s arm muscles! And she was wonderful with the customers! As Paige fanned the pages of “Gone with the Wind”, an envelope fell out. It was a love letter from “John” to “Elizabeth” and she and Emma wondered aloud if the lovers ever got together or what happened to them. Of course if they were not together the witches could always whip up a little love potion to help them reconnect, right?
About that time, Sam, a reporter at the Comfort Cove Chronicle, came in and asked Paige about Marco Vitale, her new boyfriend from Italy who would be arriving back in Comfort Cove soon — just in time to experience his first American Halloween. Paige showed Sam the love letter and he suggested he should run it in the newspaper and see if they could find the couple. It would make a great human interest story and he would get the credit! But Paige didn’t feel right about it and declined. Just then, she was distracted by her hungry cat, Casper, and when she came back, Sam was pocketing his cell phone and leaving.
What Paige didn’t know is that Sam, ignoring her request not to run the love letter in the local paper, had taken a picture and ran the story without permission and without considering possible consequences. Paige also didn’t know that the writer of the love letter would end up being murdered! How will all this intrigue come together with a murder, Marco’s returning, the house renovations, plans for a special Halloween, and strange goings-on? How will they discover who murdered the letter writer? Has Paige put herself in danger?
This was a fun cozy mystery with great characters and a well-paced story line. Grab your copy and enjoy the search for clues to pin down which suspect did the deed!
This is a great witchy cozy as another person shows up dead with Paige finding it important to solve the murder. All while juggling her own life, the bookstore, and her love life. Another great cozy.
