It all started with a sex scene… away in ten minutes.
He asked to meet me in person…
We’d previously agreed to keep things digital, to remain faceless friends—since he was forty-two, and I was twenty-six, but neither of us could resist.
When I saw him at the airport, I was instantly attracted to him.
But I knew, right then and there, that we could never be.
Turns out that the man I’d been talking to for the past several months is the last person I expected.
The last person I should ever think about…
He’s my dad’s best friend.

This book had sooo much promise. I’m actually really sad that it didn’t quite work out for me because this author came highly recommended to me. The start of the story was good enough and I liked it but it went downhill very fast after that. I feel like I shouldn’t have chosen this one as my first Whitney G book because I heard her other ones are amazing. Hopefully this was just a fluke and people are right about her.
I loved the smut (of course) but everthing else, including the characters were quite awful. It had a good premise where two online friends who’ve been talking for over seven months finally meet and then it turns out it’s the female main character’s dad’s best friend. I love tropes like this a lot. I’ve read and loved them in the past in other books so it made me extra sad that I didn’t like the story in this one. It was one of those good premise but bad execution.
I’m aware that 120 pages this is a pretty short book but I felt like the plot wasn’t worked out at all and that everything moved too fast. Christina and Dane just weren’t believable as characters and definitely not when they got together. The writing was okay at some parts but at other parts it was kind of mediocre to say the least. And then there were Christina’s parents. Probably the thing that put me off the most. They were awful and brought absolutely nothing extra to the story, especially her mother. I was cringing everytime she was in it.
I know that not every book can be a winner but I really had expected more of this one. I still want to try the author’s other books though. I don’t believe in quitting on an author if there’s one book I disliked so I can always use recommendations if you have it.
SINFULLY FORBIDDEN ROMANCE!!
This one was exactly what I needed! I wanted a quick and sexy read in between two highly emotional books and this was perfect for that! I’ve always enjoyed Whitney G’s books, regardless of length of the story!
I enjoy a well written dad’s best friend romance! This one definitely hit that forbidden aspect for me yet wasn’t based solely on a sexual relationship first. Their relationship was built on a friendship that built into something far more decadent and uncontrollable! There is a pretty good age gap with this one but it’s done in such a tantalizing way!
If you’re looking for something sexy & delicious “Bella & Ryan” are a great choice!
Hot hot hot!
3.75
I usually feel disappointed reading Whitney G books because they are always too short and they leave me needing more.
But this time I have to say I really enjoyed this novella
The idea behind the book is great!!
I loved the letters the main characters wrote to each other: they are so funny.
And obviously it didn’t lack in the hot department which is always good
Maybe the love part should have been developed a little more….
but it’s still a yes for me.
It was a fun and sexy quick read. I recommend this author and this book.
I loved this quick read, I literally read it in one sitting. It was fast paced, it was sexy, it was dirty and it was HOT. What’s not to love about all of that!!
Forbidden romance
Hot
Age gap
Sexy
Dads best friend
Hot older man
Thanks so much for the recommendation of this author Harlow James , I am definitely coming back for more.
Whitney G’s words flow effortlessly in this fantastic Dad’s Best Friend/Age Gap novella. It’s funny, sexy, and an absolute joy to read. Ryan/Dane and Bella/Christina have a red hot sizzling chemistry that leaps from the pages of this delicious page turner. It’s an exciting must read and, I highly recommend it!
This was one hot and sexy short read. Age-gaps always excite me. Dane and Christina…. mmmm. I really enjoyed this.
Can I Come Over was a signature Whitney G. sexy, contemporary novella. Filled with laughs, lower on angst, and plenty of steam to keep me happy.
My only complaint: I wish it was a bit longer to allow more time for Christina and Dane’s relationship. As it stands, the ending feeling awfully abrupt.
That aside, Can I Come Over was a funny, delightfully steamy read from and author that is an auto-buy for me. Not perfect, but absolutely worth the time. Recommended for someone that wants some Steamy scenes, excellent epistolary banter, and an age-gap romance (~15 years?) with a hint of forbidden.
While this is my first reading a book from this author, it won’t be the last. This novella is the first of The Naughty Bedroom Collection. This Dean/Rick and Bella/Christina story brings the heat! It’s super steamy with a forbidden romance, but also has friendships, family and love.
They both “meet” as Rick and Bella in the “Words and Letters” app, as they become friends and pen pal for a whole 7 months without knowing who they really are. Until she is facing some writer’s block and ask him for help writing a steamy scene. As the things start to get too hot and heavy via app, they decide to meet in person and fulfill their fantasies. But then, they discover that Bella is actually Christina and Rick is Dane, her father’s best friend.
I like the story a lot, they both are sassy and beautiful and fun. They are very similar in taste and like a lot of the same things, the only difference are in age, as he is sixteen years older than her. But none of that is at matter once both of them fight for the things they want. And now they want each other.
Their age difference didn’t matter at the end, because they clearly had grown closer before even knowing who they really was, they are a perfect match and they kept each other on their toes every single time, which made the steamy and romance scenes even more awesome.
I also laugh a lot with Christina’s crazy mom and her rants, with Christina’s best friend Daniella – her private gallery (that was funny) and how protective of her friend she was -, and with Michael (her father and his best friend) along with his 100 sons!
I loved the ending and their shared messages it was fitting, fun and lovable. Of course I wish it was longer because I didn’t want this book to end I was having a lot o fun with both of them. But that wasn’t the purpose of this book, as it was short and I could read in just one sit. Can’t wait to read the next books from the author.
Unusual story about a girl and her dad’s best friend.
Short porn story.
Author Whitney G is an outstanding storyteller of super sweet and HOT!! romantic stories. Can I come Over? is no exception. It’s an exquisite story of friends to lovers, intimacy, and is deliciously naughty with a HEA that made me literally swoon. Whitney’s gift of developing characters is incredible. Loved it!! Can’t wait for the next book in this series!!
A great and sexy novella! I love, love this trope! Miss G gave us an incredible and sexy story!
I love this author she is a one click favorite of mine and she never disappoints. This quick story was just what I needed to boost my spirits. I loved the storyline and the characters had such banter back and forth between one another that it kept me smiling. Oh, and let’s not forget the build up to the way they meet. No spoilers here just go ahead and get this book you’ll be glad you did. You will love Bella and Ryan or should I say Christina and Dane.
Can I Come Over is a quick and steamy read. It’s forbidden and a bit taboo. It was sexy, witty, and fun. The age gap between the couple wasn’t too in your face, heroine is in her late 20s, hero is in his 40s and Bella and Ryan formed a friendship on a writing app.
Whitney G has a way of writing spellbinding romance which the reader is enthralled.
I would highly recommended this book and it was short and steamy.
Quick. Hot. Sweet. I loved this book so much! This dad’s best friend trope had a great storyline. It was smart, well written, and I loved how Ryan/Dane and Bella/Christina got together. And the chemistry between them was SO HOT!!! I just wish their story was longer.
I really enjoyed the first in this new series!
This was a fun and steamy short read. I enjoyed it!
Christina/Bella is a erotic book writer and usually spends her time on an app called words & letters where she has a bunch of friends and also fans. That’s where she meets Dane/Ryan and has no clue that he’s her dad’s best friend. Their beginning interactions were pretty angsty and damn hilarious and I knew they were going to be perfect for each other.
They started out as friends, consistently staying in touch with each other through the app. I appreciated that the author didn’t waste time writing all these letters. Fast forward seven months, Christina gets writer’s block where is unable to write the sex scenes, not getting any inspiration. Some of the lines she wrote had me laughing out loud. Here are some below:
When she shares her predicament with ‘Ryan’, he offers to help and sends her a draft. And the scene he wrote was utterly filthy, dirty and exactly what Christina was looking for to kick start her inspiration.
Surprised at the level of hotness from his scene and the attached photo sparked a plan to finally meet.
Christina was hilarious. I simply L.O.V.E.D her and the moment she realises that Ryan is actually her dad’s best friend Dane, she sees him in a new light. I mean she always knew he was attractive but after talking to him all this time and that draft he sent, the attraction reaches another level.
The actual meeting was pretty amusing. She literally can’t get away from him fast enough and runs away without telling him that she’s Bella.
As for Ryan, or shall we say Dane, he doesn’t take to long to figure out who she really is after talking to Christina’s dad. Determined to get to the bottom of it, he finds out where she’s staying and confronts her.
Damn the scene is H.O.T. I never expected him to be this dirty and alpha like. He was dominant and sexy in the way he took control. *Cue the sizzle*
There wasn’t too much drama which I loved and they didn’t beat around the bush and knew what they wanted.
For a short novella, the development and plot was perfect and I literally wish there was more to it.
Whitney G.
Can I Come Over? by Whitney G. is a dads best friend romance novella about an author, Christina, an online writing site, Dane, and a twist of fate that causes two online strangers to fall for each other, meet in real life, and realize they already know each other and the relationship is going to be tricky. Steamy and short, this is a great quick hot read with enough story to not feel like a penthouse story. Enjoy!
Read this in less than an hour…so it is short but does still have a plot, and characters that are interesting as well as a small dose of steam. Really good for a little entertainment.
