What will happen when my secrets are exposed?I’m lying to my mom about how I make my living.I’m lying to the Ballsy Boys about my life.I’m lying to myself about who I am.I pretend to be Campy, but I am Cameron. But does anyone even know the real me?When I meet my new roommate, a sexy Texan cowboy and break-out TV star named Jackson, all my lies start to come out. He makes me want to be myself, … out. He makes me want to be myself, but I’ve spun so many lies that I don’t even know who I am anymore. The more I fall for him, the more I worry that all my secrets will destroy us before we have a chance to be together.
Good thing Jackson has a stubborn streak and won’t give up so easily.

Better than you can imagine!
So much more than I expected. We knew there was a lot more to Campy and his cowboy but dang did the author’s deliver. A fully fleshed out backstory for both Cam and Jackson with some sweet secondary characters as well. Now we just need Pixie and Bear’s story though I think Pixie’s past will break out heart but I think Bear’s might give it a beating too.
I really enjoyed this one! Perfect addition to the series. While each book is about a different couple, it seems to me that it would be more enjoyable if you read the books in order. The timelines overlap and you get to know all the Ballsy Boys. I really loved Cam and Jackson. Jackson was s such a sweetheart and so optimistic. He complements Cam (campy) so well. And the sexy scenes are the icing on the cake. It is a bit of a slow burn but totally worth it. I am so looking forward to the 5th book!
I just loved this installment in the Ballsy’s Boy series. I love the building relationship between Jackson and Cameron. I also really appreciate the way that Jackson shows his love through his caring. He also refuses to be ashamed about his relationship. It was also interesting to see Bally’s Boys through Campy’s eyes as his reason for working there while similar to some of the others his feeling about his roll were different from some of the other boys as well.
I listened to the audio version which was well done and easy to follow.
Campy has been in all of the books so far obviously, and he has a “secret” that kept getting hinted at little by little in each book. He gets a roommate named Jackson which we were introduced to in the last book.
The timeline of events kind of overlaps between books. So in the previous book Campy takes Jackson to the bar to hang out with the other Ballsy Boys and they’re all teasing Campy about hooking up with Jackson, to which Campy tells everyone that “Jackson is straight.”
So color me surprised when we find out that Jackson is gay in chapter freaking 2. I was so confused for awhile until that scenario comes back up and Campy mentions in his POV that he lied about that comment at 57%.
It isn’t so much of a spoiler as it was mentioned in the previous books… but it turns out that Campy is actually straight. Or so he says. Gay for Pay is what he refers to his job as… his mom has MS and he needs to pay for her care. He doesn’t feel much sexually for the other Ballsy Boys and has mentioned having to take viagra at first and then eventually think of something else while having sex.
My head is spinning. I thought this was going to be a sort of GFY story and I suppose it kind of still is? But it kind of isn’t. It’s just backwards. Ugh, I don’t even know how to explain it…
Campy/Cameron thinks he’s straight until he starts feeling things for Jackson. But he’s adamant that he’s not gay so Jackson starts trying to date and Cameron gets jealous as fuck.
But Jackson… ohhhh my gosh, I just loved him. He’s not looking for a hookup, he wants an actual forever kind of relationship. He never felt the spark with anyone else because he was in love with Cameron even though the dude claimed he was straight. So instead of giving up on Cam, he keeps trying with him and shows him how much he cares. It’s so cute. I loved his character so much.
And Cam… I felt bad for him whenever he felt ashamed of himself, like he wasn’t good enough. He’d get panic attacks with how much guilt he was feeling and the secrets he kept from everyone. It was great to see how much lighter he felt toward the end of the book after everything was out in the open. I love seeing a character get their happy ending.
The porn thing was never an issue for Jackson, but this one was different in that Cameron didn’t enjoy it. He wasn’t happy doing porn whatsoever but only did it to afford his mom’s hefty medical bills. Some scenes were mentioned while Jackson and Cameron were together and Cameron had little comments about his ass getting pounded earlier in the day when he came home to Jackson. Kinda awkward for me as a reader, but there was no issue between the two of them about it. And Cameron did not continue his porn career by the end and quit as soon as he was able to, unlike Heart and Tank + Brewer’s books. Makes me feel a tiny bit better.
One thing I fucking loved was the mention of In-N-Out. As someone that lives in California, I had to laugh out loud at this whole scene. We’re serious about our In-N-Out burgers and everyone else is just like… “what is the big deal”
And the mention of animal style fries and the secret menu I was so damn amused.
And dude… I swear with these side characters. I have to start hunting down books from other series to see if these characters are in them or have their own books. Jackson’s brother, Braxton, was mentioned in this book and he came out as bisexual. It just gave off a feel that he might have had his own book or something along those lines. Enough so that I have to look through this author’s entire backlist to see if he’s mentioned in the description.
Anyway.. this was a pretty good read. Honestly, Jackson’s character is what made it that much more enjoyable for me. I just love a super genuinely nice character who cares about everyone and isn’t a ho. Those are my favorites.
I’m giving this a solid 4
Jackson is new and had replied to Cameron’s ad for a roommate. He has a part in a new TV show that hired him for his real Texan accent. Jackson wanted to follow his dreams no matter what and decided to do so without his parents knowing.
Cameron isn’t happy with his life. He wants to go to Vet school but right now his mother is first priority so he has to work harder at his second job. A job he hopes doesn’t come to bite him in the butt. He works at Ballsy Boys one of the best gay studios because it pays better, He has no issue with the sex except for the fact as he is not gay.
Jackson is attracted to Campy right away but when he finds out that Cameron says he isn’t gay he is hurt. they become good friends.
This series has such great characters and I missed Heart and Tank so I say you can read out of order though I do recommend reading Rebel first as it does set up the series and introduce most of the guys.
I listened to it in audio and as usual Kenneth Obi gives a great performance. This was my first of his cowboy or western accents and oh my gosh it was great. Jackson just made me swoon. And usually, a man giving a woman voice is just weird but Kenneth made Campy’s mom’s voice perfect. soft and not squeaky. The action is always great and the sex scenes…oh my!
So we get Gay for Pay, Friends to Lovers, either a gay for you or repressed bi and such a sweet romance.
The Pornstar and his Cowboy…
Oh, K.M. Neuhold and Nora Phoenix, you ladies did it once again. You’ve created another incredible Ballsy Boys story that absolutely consumes the read. I’m so in love with this book that I don’t even know where to begin this review! I suppose I should start off by saying that I’ve both read and listened to this novel. The narrator, Kenneth Obi, did a phenomenal job of reading Campy! He brings Cameron and Jackson to life in ways that just reading this book couldn’t do for me. Don’t get me wrong! I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book as soon as it came out. But listening brought another dimension to the characters that just pushed the story from damn good to great.
Cameron, aka Campy, is a Pornstar that works for Bear at the Ballsy Boys porn studio. He’s a hard-working individual that does absolutely everything in his power to provide for his mom who suffers from MS. He works two jobs to pay for his own expenses as well as hers, but he does it because of the love he has for his mom. She was a single parent that raised him as best as she could until it wasn’t possible anymore. Now it’s his turn to return the favor, even if that means putting his dreams of becoming a Vet on hold.
Jackson is a good ol boy from Texas with dreams as big as the state he hails from. He grew up in a conservative small town where being gay wasn’t something that you drew attention to. He wanted to do more with his life than running a ranch and settling down with the perfect woman. He wanted to chase his dream of becoming a Hollywood star. When he is accepted as a lead character for a new TV show called Hill Country, funnily enough, set in Texas, he drops everything to pursue those dreams.
Cameron and Jackson wind up as roommates, become good friends, and eventually, things start to get a little more interesting with their relationship. They both face some pretty difficult challenges, as well as truths, that might make a relationship between them impossible. However, with the help of some sound advice from a certain Pixie, and the determination of a stubborn cowboy, they make some pretty incredible magic happen.
I have to say that I loved this book so much! I really appreciated that Cameron has some serious issues with his sexuality that he had to come to terms with. It wasn’t as black and white as he expected it to be. Cameron’s mother is an amazing woman that I loved from the start. She’s a strong lady that loves everything her son does for her even though she feels guilty about it. Jackson is a rock in the storm that is Cameron’s life. He knows what he wants and he’ll do everything he can to get it. Pixie is a sweetheart that, I feel, played a huge part in the turning point of Cameron’s life. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the incredible man on man action we get in this book. Talk about smoking hot and incredibly sweet!
If you’re a fan K.M Neuhold, Nora Phoenix, Kenneth Obi, and/or the Ballsy Boys, you have to give this book a read. I don’t often give five-star reviews, but this one definitely earned it.
This is a review of the audiobook performed by Kenneth Obi.
Performance: 5
Story: 5
Overall: 5
I love Kenneth’s deep, growly voice.
Campy is such a great story and Kenneth Obi’s voice was perfect – especially for Jackson and some of the other characters with deep voices.
This is the first book that I’ve listened to in the series and I wasn’t lost at all so don’t be afraid to jump in here if you want to. I do plan to go back and listen to the others though, so I have a better sense of all of the Ballsy Boys.
This is what I would call an “out for you” story. Campy works as a gay porn star but he has always considered himself straight. Once he meets his new roommate, Jackson, he begins to reconsider that position. Campy has really good reasons for doing what he does and Jackson is understanding of that.
I loved Jackson! He was perfect for Campy and genuinely good guy. He moved to LA so he could live as his authentic self. He couldn’t be out and proud where he was from in Texas.
I’ve heard so many good things about this series and I’m sorry it took me so long to begin enjoying it.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Holy Hottness People!
My gawd!… Where can I find a guy like Jackson?!
I live in Texas and I’ve never met anyone with those values about love.
My heart melted for Camey’s story.
Such sweethearts.
I hope we also get a Brax story!
Till then, can’t wait to read Pixie & Bears!
Please hurry!!!!!!!….. I’m already going through withdrawals!
Flove my Ballsy Boys
Read Feburary 1, 2019
This book was such a delight to read. I love all the Ballsy books, and these authors have added another wonderful book to the series. It was fun and sexy, heartwarming, and a lovely slow-burn romance.
I already had a warm spot for Campy, or Cameron by his real name. He had that bit aloof aura around him. He was never rude or anything; it was more that he was shy, a bit aloof, and kept people at arm’s length. Now I know why. He has so many secrets inside, not major ones though.
That’s until he meets his new roommate, Jackson. Jackson is absolutely adorable, what with his old-fashioned, Southern politeness and charm. Even though he is an actor, I never got the feeling he was anything but real: just a sweet and genuinely kind guy with a huge heart.
It was lovely to see how Jackson got under Cameron’s skin, just by being himself. And equally admirable how Cameron, after some initial denial, came around. He learned what is really important and that you can never predict other people’s reactions. Cameron’s mother certainly helped him. She was such a charming and caring lady.
I loved how they slowly grew towards each other and created those special moments together. Not only the sexy ones but also the moments they were lazing around and being with each other. Especially in those moments I felt their connection growing and turning into something long-lasting.
It could have easily turned into a sappy story, but these authors did a marvelous job avoiding that. The writing is beautiful and kept me turning the pages. The characters were well rounded and growing throughout the story. It gave me all sorts of warm, happy feelings, and I was a bit sad the book ended.
This is the fourth installment of the Ballsy boys series. It can be as a stand-alone novel, but I recommend reading the books in order.
This book is just beautiful. The shame Campy feels truly broke my heart to pieces. I love Jackson for knowing what he wants, and setting out to get it no matter what. Yet another great story in this series.
Swoon! I love this series, and Campy’s story was fantastic. It was a slow burn that made you work for their sexy times – but it was worth the wait! Cameron and Jackson were so sweet and cute together and I just loved that Jackson knew his heart and what he wanted. He didn’t waiver from his dreams while he waited for Cameron to catch up. Their story was sweet, sexy, hot and gave me all the feels at the end. Another fantastic book in the Ballsy Boys series. I would of course be remiss if I didn’t mention how much I can’t wait for Pixie’s story!
