Campfire Secrets earns 5/5 Island Bonfires…Engaging Conclusion!
Kathi Daley has concluded her Island Reunion Trilogy in dramatically grand fashion…shocking revelations, several mysteries solved, and justice served! I want to offer more insights into book three, “Campfire Secrets,” but all I can say is you’ve got to read it for yourself! Newbies beware! Basic ideas are recounted, but can you imagine only reading book three in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy? Just think of all you’d miss. The pattern that emerged over the series, young girls missing and a victim profile, along with a dead body washed up on shore focused law enforcement and a group of reunited friends: collaborating, researching, and piecing together the mystery that also involved the disappearance of their friend twenty-five year ago. Theories are tested, suspects are scrutinized, and personal peril threatens those who get too close, but time is running out…Grace, the daughter of an island friend, has gone missing!
So what can I say? Well, Kathi’s writing style uses a first-person narrative from Kelly Green‘s perspective following her own emotional journey, budding romance, and reconnecting with her friends along with the missing persons and murder investigation. Daley’s creativity includes slowly revealing suspects, revising scenarios, and compiling evidence that keep readers engaged through the series and culminating in this third book. Some of the information gathered during the investigation takes place off the page, then it’s relayed through conversations, some secondhand. However, she always includes those clever avenues, shocking twist, and some nail-biting danger. An Epilogue is included to give a little more insight into the future of the characters now that the trilogy has concluded. But, is there another trilogy in the future?
Jumping into the action immediately where the previous book left off, Kelly and her friends are deep into the disappearance of Grace and the other girls, including the one who washed up ashore during the surfing competition.
Sam has his hands full and Ryder is kept busy. The Summer Six Reunion began as a memorial occasion but it seems as if all the ladies are running in different directions. Finding romance is a bonus and starting over are themes as these ladies, now in their forties, muct figure out where their lives are going. Friendship seems the only bond that remains and grows stronger.
The mysteries are solved in an unpredictable result.
This book is the third in a trilogy in which, they’re focusing on missing girls going back several years. When another girl goes missing it seems to prove their theory and Sam puts everything into finding her alive. Meanwhile, Quinn and Kelly put their own plan into action.
Kathi Daley does cozy mysteries very well and this book is a great example of why. This book perfectly wraps up the trilogy although it was definitely not in a way that was expected. Well-written with wonderful characters and relationships that are well-done, this book captured me from the beginning and kept me hooked until the end. I loved both the book and the trilogy and highly recommend them.
Great conclusion to the trilogy! This book wraps up the mysteries of the missing girls in the first 2 books and their conclusions may come as a surprise, which is always nice when the ending is not predictable.
I loved this new series by Kathi Daley. This was book 3 in the series and it kept me guessing until the end. I recommend series.
In this third book of the series Sam feels like the answers he needs will be in finding the most recent missing girl. Meanwhile Kelly and Quinn are looking in their own direction, one that is dangerous and could get them both in trouble. They soon realize that what they believed is not the direction they need to be headed in but I fact they need to start looking at all the pieces with a different perspective. Follow along as they join together in their search for answers and the truth. Will all the mysteries be successfully solved or will they be left with more questions. Along the way friendships become stronger, and new roads to the future are opened.
I couldn’t wait until this book came out. It was definitely worth the wait. This was way more than I had anticipated, and it was so good. I highly recommend this series.
Campfire Secrets is the final book in the fabulous Island Reunion trilogy. This story takes place on Shipwreck Island. Childhood friends reuniting, fun on the beach, old mysteries solved going back 25 years involving missing teenage girls, and romance make an entertaining combination. As always, the setting and relatable characters make for a fun, quick read. I really like these characters and hope that Ms. Daley surprises us with another book in this series in the future.
This is the third installment of a three-part story – one you probably could read by itself but would so miss out on a lot of the story building up to it so my recommendation is to read all three in order. Intriguing plot and ending — loved how it all turned out and definitely didn’t see it coming. Loved how all the pieces went in all different directions and all finally connected. Loved reading about the characters’ lives and the paths they decided to follow. All in all, a great mini series with an intriguing plot and awesome characters.

Campfire Secrets is the final installment in Kathi Daley’s awesome Island Trilogy. The affable characters are well developed, and the well-plotted storyline flows at a steady pace. This is a fun and clean read, with a strong emphasis on caring and compassion. Emotions run high, so keep the tissues handy. The complex mystery encompasses cold and current cases, and the red herrings and the twists and turns will keep readers engaged. A lot took place in this trilogy, and Ms. Daley neatly tied up all the loose ends, bringing resolution to everything.
Carrie Davidson arranged for three of her childhood friends, Kelly Green, Nora Hargrove, and Diana “Quinn” Quinby, to return to Shipwreck Island for a long-overdue reunion and to do something to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the summer their friend, Peggy Amundson, went missing. Each of the four women has been going through traumatic problems and offer strength and support to one another. Kelly is dealing with the recent death of her twin sister, Kayla; Carrie’s husband recently moved out of their home, and is preparing to move into her new condo; Nora, who fears her marriage is over, leaves for a few days to reconnect with her husband; and Quinn is burned out and in need of a break. Kelly reconnected with Ryder West, Carrie’s younger brother, who is now a veterinarian and island’s mayor, and Sam Stone, who’s the island’s sheriff. The four friends have been gathering facts in an effort to help Sam bring resolution to a disturbing pattern of sixteen-year-old girls disappearing every five years, with the first victim most likely being Peggy. Things heat up when the daughter of one of their childhood friends goes missing.
