Zoe struggles with a secret as the Zimmerman clan sets out for a week of fun in the sun at Camp Carter, where they find the cook dead in the pantry on the very first day of their family vacation. Not only was Zoe the only person other than the victim in a blocked room, but when the police arrive she is standing over the body with a bloody knife in her hand. Zoe sets out to find the real killer … with Zak’s help. At first it seems like an easy task since the number of people at the camp at the time of the cooks death was limited, but as Zoe begins to dig deeper, she finds a history of unexplained accidents dating back years, that she begins to suspect weren’t accidents at all.

I absolutely loved this story, the characters were great! I love how it all turn out, the setting is brilliant! I loved the mystery in it I’m looking forward to the next one in this series.
There is not much worse than getting caught standing over a murder victim with a bloodly weapon in your hand. Not the vacation Zoe was planning but she figures there weren’t a lot of people around when it happened so she looks into it. In her search, Zoe and Zak find the camp has a dark history with a trail of unexplained accidents.
Camp Carter is book 25 in the Zoe Donovan Cozy Mystery series. Although It is part of series, it can be read as a stand alone. Reading it in order will build on the previous storyline of the characters in this cozy mystery.
Another great adventure with Zak and Zoe. Loved the news about Zoe and can’t wait to see how things progress.
This book has Zak and Zoe helping out at camp. But as soon as they start out the beloved cook is found dead by Zoe.
Who would want to kill her and why have there been so many deaths, unexplained or ruled accidents? This who done it has you on your toes from page one. Looking forward to the next Zak and Zoe adventure.
I recieved this book from the author for an honest opinion.
“Camp Carter” earns 5/5 Marshmallow Roasting Campfire Fun!
Once again, as a big fan of Kathi Daley’s Zoe Donovan Mystery series, I am absolutely thrilled with “Camp Carter,” and being the twenty-fifth book…yes, twenty-five adventures, I am not tiring of it. Kathi Daley always seems to find a new engaging mystery for Zoe and Zak Zimmerman to uncover, and life goes on for our favorite characters with the finally revealed pregnancy that will offer all kinds of trials and tribulations in the future. The setting changes take us to the mountains outside Ashton Falls which adds some exciting challenges for our characters to overcome: Camping? Unfamiliar terrain? Hundreds of pre-teens? The series characters continue to be delightful and endearing, and the new characters all seem to have secrets that might well be motives for murder. The setting of Duck Lake and issues with Zoe’s Zoo play out in the background along with some wonderful recipes that would have been great ‘camp’ food: Tomato Cucumber Salad, Broiled Shrimp, Caramel Brownies, Grandma’s Old-fashioned Ice Cream Toppings. Ok, you’ve got the menu, you’ve got the book…head out into the wilderness and enjoy. I highly recommend the series at any point in the twenty-five escapades, but definitely put “Camp Carter” at the top of your list!
