This is definitely a different book than Grisham’s typical legal thrillers. It was okay, but just didn’t hold my attention as most of his earlier books. Part of the problem may have been that I listened to the audiobook.
The ending was good and a great way to close out the story.
It’s been awhile since I have a Grisham book, so I really enjoyed this one. It’s all about the world of writers, publishers and expensive first additions — as the setting for some interesting interpersonal stuff. The ending was a satisfying surprise.
I’d read THE FIRM years ago and almost missed a plane because I couldn’t put the thing down. Well, I’ve read a ton of Grisham since, and some of it I had to put down–too simplistic, too formulaic. Then I picked up CAMINO ISLAND, and I was off to the races. In fact, I was reading it in the swimming pool and almost grew fins I stayed so long. The book is a real page-turner, classic Grisham, with a writer thrown in and intrigue in the arts-museum community. I particularly like some of his snap endings. Read it, you’ll like it.
& excellent
John Grisham is better than this!!
Great story, telling was superb, Audible edition was flawless.
Well paced, with interesting twists in the plot.
I’ve read all John Grisham’s fiction for adults and am a big fan. This story is lighter and off his lawyer beat, but he’s such a wonderful story teller he pulled me right in for what turned out to be a very enjoyable ride. Tone-wise, it reminded me of some of Thomas Perry’s earlier caper novels, like Island and Big Fish.
Very quick read that entertained from page 1 to the end. Never a disappointment with John Grisham!
Excellent read, now I know a little about the book industry, always learn something from Grisham.
OK. Not one of Grisham’s greatest
Not the usual genre for Grisham but still enteraining.
Not one of his best.
Really enjoyed the setting and the character’s nice twist and I enjoyed the settings.
Camino Island It seemed like an inside look at writing and being an author from Grisham’s point of view and as an author, that aspect fascinated me. Good storyline but not suspenseful.
A little out of the ordinary for Grisham; however, it was entertaining.
Just a great read like most of his books
I liked the characters and learned a lot about 1st edition books. The characters and locations seemed like people you want to be friends with or places you wanted to be. Very enjoyable read. This was a good read as is typical of John Grisham. ( I’ve also started looking at my books to see if I have any first editions)
This was a very enjoyable book with great plot development.
What a great read!
