Fav book of his. Great stuff.
It has been a while since I picked up a book by John Grisham. The title caught my eye and once I read what the story was about, I decided to read it. I am so glad I did! I could not put this book down. From the very beginning, the story captures your attention and I love how he has broken down the chapters. I felt like I was in some sort of spy/thriller movie.
I really enjoyed meeting some of the characters in this book and each one is unique and different. I like the island vibe and how this was centered around books. I can not wait to read the next book in the series. If you are looking for a spy novel with a beach getaway vibe then this book is for you!
This was a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the settings and the mystery. Loved the theme of stolen books and manuscripts!
This wasn’t as much a legal “thriller” as many of Grisham’s books, but I enjoyed his look at the publishing industry and the life of being a writer. As always, after taking a ride on Grisham’s story train, I usually crave for a stronger ending that he gives.
I loved this book – and the follow up Camino Winds. Grisham is still my favorite author and he doesn’t write much that I don’t like. Not your typical legal thriller, but still a fast paced, interesting story. Loved the characters!
Some friends who live on Amelia Island, Florida, where the author has a home, recommended this book. It wasn’t my normal genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
great read with undeniable edge of the seat suspense
Great book and author. Must read book and all the others.
Though this is a departure from Grisham’s thrillers, I enjoyed it. The literary theft starts out with a bang, then moves at a slower pace to a surprising end. I am looking forward to book two in this series.
Another wonderful tale by John Grisham. I read through this one quickly as I was so anxious to find out what happened. Highly recommend this one!
Not one of Grisham’s best. A slow starter. I kept reading hoping it would get better but was disappointed.
This is a book about, well, books. It’s a departure from Grisham’s usual legal thrillers but I still felt it was a great read.
Five F. Scott Fitzgerald manuscripts are stolen from Princeton. The FBI is involved and arrest a couple of the thieves but cannot find the others….or the manuscripts. They start to suspect the involvement of a bookstore owner on Camino Island, Bruce Cable, because he has had some shady undertakings in the past.
Mercer Mann is a writer suffering from writer’s block and goes to Camino Island to stay in her grandmother’s home hoping to break through the writer’s block. While there, she meets several other writers (some established and others struggling) along with Bruce and his wife, Noelle. Unbeknownst to Bruce, Mercer has been “hired” to get information as to whether or not Bruce has the manuscripts or may know where they are.
I have always enjoyed his books suspense and keeps you wanting not to put the book down
John Grisham is a great storyteller, and Camino Winds is an easy -to-read, entertaining story. His descriptions are spot-on and his characters are believable. But the mystery is not as compelling or complicated as his earlier great books. I’m just glad he keeps telling stories.
He should stick to books involving the law. Its a waste of money to buy this book.
John Grisham proves once again he’s a fearless creator. The plot about a stolen manuscript taken from a Princeton vault, a staged university shooting to cover the heist, and then the intricacies of book stores, stolen manuscripts of a literary great, and writer’s block. Love this book. And more than that, Grisham’s flippant introductory remark in the Author’s Notes, “Apologies to Princeton,” about why he included such a prominent university in the plot. Simply brilliant, and he did…because he can.
Like all of John Grisham’s novels I couldn’t put it down
As always, Grisham weaves a page-turning story, and the setting of a warm island makes it all the more fun.
I enjoyed this book and will read the next one in the series, but it was a little slow moving. The characters were great and I love John Grisham.
As usual, Grisham at his best.
