A marriage of convenience isn’t exactly what Rachel Peters had in mind.
What else can she do if she wants to raise her young niece, and give her a more stable home than she and her sister grew up in? Rachel is at risk of losing custody of her last blood relative, and she needs to prove she can provide for her niece and raise her in a nurturing environment.
Professor Brandon Barlow is invested … Barlow is invested in his college students’ lives, wanting to ensure their success. When it is clear that Rachel is struggling, he takes a personal interest in trying to help her. But can he keep his heart from getting involved in the process?
Brandon reaches out to Rachel as he tries to break through the walls she has built up over the years. With love and patience, Brandon hopes to help Rachel realize that, even when she experiences storms in her life, she isn’t always alone.

I really liked this book. It was a simple and quick read. Uplifting and light.
Overtly Christian story with no proselytizing. The family just goes about living their life.
The characters are all really well done
There’s obviously some tragic circumstances, but the story focuses on how they are handled and not the tragedies themselves. While Brandon and his family are Christians and willing to discuss their faith with Rachel, they don’t push their faith on her.
Through her talks with her new mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rachel takes a look at her motivations, her fears, and hopes… and realizes she loves her husband. 🙂
The story moves smoothly telling about emotional hardship and healing that does take place with love and faith. A nice read from start to finish and gives you an insight to how the foster system works.
Really enjoyed this book and the “going above and beyond” which opened some unexpected doors of opportunity…great read and will give you food for thought in the areas of grace, forgiveness, and more…
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well rounded, and the story line well written. It is a Christian based story in modern day. I loved reading this story.
Loved it!
Very good read
Beautiful
This is a wonderful story of loss, finding a new path, family and a true believing that with faith and prayers good things can happen.
I enjoyed the characters and their interactions. It teaches humility and trust in God.
Honest characters
Super cute! I did wish it was a little longer because I wanted more time with the characters. So I really loved the characters even if the plot was a little comfortably predictable. I think if the story had been a little longer there would have been more character development and action which wouldn’t have made the story quite so simple.
Like the story line, but the characters could have been better developed.
Excellent story. This is very inspiring as well as thought provoking.
This was a sweet story and very well depicts how God loves us first and longs for us to love and trust him. The characters’ personalities were well developed. It’s a HEA.
I enjoyed this book because it reminded me that even though times might be troublesome Our God is in control of everything. He will be with us and see us through.
A bit disappointing. Story was contrived, like the author stuck to one track and ignored anything not neat and tidy. For example, when they got in the auto accident there was never any mention of a traffic ticket or insurance settlement. The ending was too predictable and expected.
Sweet, clean romance.
God can Calm any Storm
