Callum is the third book in the fun new Regency Rockstars series. The series is based on four lords who have returned from the war as heroes, but their popularity to the wicked women in London is in danger. A group of handsome Italian musicians is stealing the show! The lords decide to challenge the Italians and start their own musical quartet known as the Noble Lords.
Before leaving for war, Callum Sharp proposed to Lady Eliza Follett, promising they would get married as soon as he returned. Callum returns a different man than the one who left. He received a knighthood for his bravery during Waterloo, but the only way he was able to coop with the memories and nightmares from the war is with alcohol and drugs. He still loves Eliza but knows she is better off with out him and his demons. When his father announces he is dying, Callum must find the strength to face the upcoming challenges.
Eliza had loved Callum forever and looked forward to him coming home from the war, but Callum comes home an entirely different man. She refuses to give up on Callum and is determined to marry him. But can she convince Callum to give up his self-destructive ways?
I didn’t really care for Callum in the previous books. I felt he was very self-centered, but reading his story gave me a better perspective. Knowing now that he was dealing with the upcoming death of his father and the horrors of the war, I can understand how he became so lost upon his return to England. The author does a wonderful job showing the struggles many soldiers have upon returning from war. This was a very emotional book and I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Very good story. Callum is trying to fight so many emotional battles at once, along with PTSD. Very emotional read. I received an ARC of this book.
4.5 stars!
Sir Callum Sharp is known as the light-hearted and fun-loving member of his group of friends. He’s known to be charming and Lady Eliza Follett, sister of his friend and fellow musician, Reid, has loved him since they were young. But Callum is a different man since his return from Waterloo and his main focuses are his music and his drinking and partying. He avoids Eliza and the promises they made before he left, much to her brother’s relief. The only thing Callum sobers up for is his daily meeting with his father, Baron Sharp.
But when he finds out that his beloved father only has weeks to live, Callum’s life begins a downward spiral yet again. To honor his wishes, Callum must keep his father’s condition a secret and his oblivious friends tell him he must sober up or he’s out of their musical group. Eliza is determined to help Callum heal and deal with his grief, but it soon becomes obvious that for any real change to occur, the impetus must come from Callum himself. Reid is determined to warn Callum away from his sister and Eliza is just as determined that they’ll be together, even if it means causing divisions within the group and her own family.
I have been intrigued by Callum and wanting his story since his bad behavior intensified in the first book. His is probably the most serious, emotional, and painful story of the whole series, at least so far. He and Eliza were great together and I loved how they both tried so hard for each other and showed so much growth and development. I was engrossed by this story and couldn’t put it down. Yes, there are issues with forms of address and such, but the storyline, characters, and unique premise more than made up for such things that I normally tend to be a stickler for. I also applaud the author’s examination of PTSD and thought it was very well done. This was the most intense story of the series by far and also a great examination of true friendship outside the romance. I am very much looking forward to the next book.

My review :
Will her love be enough for him to save him from himself …
As it has been two books that I followed Callum’s destructive road, I was wondering how Mrs Sasha Cottman would handle this man so set in burying himself in an early grave.
So now it is his time to have his story told, I was very curious as the insights shown in the two previous books do not let the hope very high to see him saved.
One thing is sure, his path is one paved with many dents and holes.
He was lucky the woman standing by his side is Eliza, a very unconventional lady.
I can only admire her resilience and faith in him.
More than a romance, it is a tale of healing and the power of love, all kind of love.
Because one thing is sure from the beginning is that Eliza and Callum love each other, they might fail to show it or hurt one another, but it is what keep them holding up together.
Callum like many soldiers came back from war a changed man and more than the visible scars, it is those hidden in his mind that are bringing him down. Unable to face his nightmares, he numbs himself to slumber with alcohol and drugs. So much, he comes close to be unable to function without being under substance influence.
It is only when every derails around him, that he gets his eyes opened, and decides to improve his way. But he has a long road ahead of him to get his head out of the fog has become resident.
Eliza is a strange strong woman, she enjoys a freedom I find quite astonishing for the time period and her rank, she comes and goes alone with no true chaperone. But if I put aside these facts, it is her unusual personality that makes her perfect to deal with Callum’s fit and temper. Never once her sentiments for him faltered, she might be hurt, angry or sad, she knows who she is and what she wants even if it goes against her own brother’s wishes.
And Callum will need everyone’s support to extricate himself from his own demons and fight them, it is only him and his own will that might save him but knowing he can lean on the love of those he cares will help him to set his head straight. It will be a battle for every day and he knows he might never be fully cured but with Eliza and his friends by his side, he can also look in the future.
4.5 stars for this journey of healing and the strength love brings.
I was granted an advance copy by the author and prior to it I preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

This book is book 3 in the Regency Rockstars Series. It was a great book and dealt with war and it’s aftermath in a very real way. The love story of Sir Callum Sharp and Lady Eliza Follett is a reminder that love takes a lot of work and in this case worth the time and struggle. This book is well written and I am looking forward to the final book!
MS Cottman has dug deep with this installment in the series, having already gotten to know Callum in the first two books this guy is suffering but how badly we didn’t know till now and the emotions that are flowing will have you turning the pages and I shed a few tears as we get to know more about Callum and the wonderful strong woman, Eliza who has his heart and soul in her heart and hands.
Callum has always been the life of the party caring and fun, but going to war changes him, he has demons that bring out the worst in him, he loves playing his flute with his best friends The Nobel lords but drinking is causing an upheaval between the Lords and then there is the problems in his family that cause more pain, and the woman he loves Eliza, the woman he now feels that he will never be good enough for, the woman he cannot let out of his heart and the woman he needs more than anything.
Eliza has loved Callum for many years and before Waterloo everything was going so good, but Callum returned a different man and while others could not see beneath the real Callum Eliza never gave up on loving and wanting to be there for him. Against the wishes of her beloved brother, Nobel Lord Reid Eliza stands by her man and helps him with keeping sober and with the pain that tragedy causes.
This really is a moving, sensual and emotional story that pulled me in, the characters are very easy to be friends with and feel their joy and feelings. It was so good to see the real Callum come out with his beloved Eliza by his side, Eliza what a heroine so honest and caring and strong. There was a lot that he had to go through first including being abandoned by his best friends, but love shines through with such joy, I did love this story and I am loving this series I am looking forward to Kendal’s story now. MS Cottman thank you for a fabulous story, I do highly recommend this one and the series.
The night before Callum Sharp and his friends went off to war, Lady Eliza Follett, his friend Reid’s sister had hosted a party. As soon as Callum could, he spirited her away for a private moment.
“This woman set his blood ablaze. He would never get enough of her-could never let her go. Eliza and he were destined to be together.” She was in tears that he might not make it back. But he did pull out a ring. “I love you Eliza. I promise you that if I make it safely home, I will talk to Reid. You and I shall be married. Will you accept my promise ring?” Of course she did as she loved him too.
But when Callum came back from the war, he was very changed. He avoided her to some extent although at times he would give a little attention. He was on a road to destruction.
Such an emotional, intense story of Callum’s struggles after the war. Numbing his mind by alcohol and drugs, hoping he can keep Eliza at arms length, but it all seems to start tumbling down. Eliza though is strong and always by his side, holding on…
These two have a long journey of healing and a love that has always been there, plus the true friendships that last and hold fast.
Don’t miss this latest addition to this series. I cannot wait for the next!
Sir Callum Sharp has turned to alcohol and drugs to attempt to dull the memory and nightmares of Waterloo. He and Eliza have been in love for years, but she doesn’t know how to help him, and it appears he doesn’t want him to. The other Noble Lords have reached their limit with his destructive and unpredictable behavior. Discovering that his father is dying devastates Callum, but may provide the impetus to turn his life around. He needs to prove to his father that he will be able to care for the estate and his family. He needs Eliza in his life. To do this, he needs to be sober. Will he accept his father’s counsel and find the courage to change his life?
Callum’s story is intensely emotional. It deals with PTSD and addiction, not unusual partners even today. Callum shows reluctance to turn to his friends even though they were at Waterloo with him. His friends, The Noble Lords, are frustrated because they don’t know how to reach him. Baron Sharp and Eliza may not completely understand Callum’s misery, but they refuse to give up on him. He takes a giant step forward when he meets a new friend with a squeaky violin and some shrewd advice. This is a good story. It is not a fairytale, but there is hope and an HEA.
Callum Sharp envisioned the battles at Waterloo to be short with few losses; he would be back in London quickly, so he could marry Lady Eliza Follett. He could never have foreseen his own injuries, nor those of the men dying and screaming around him. The man who returned from battle was not the carefree man known to London society, his friends, and especially Eliza. This new Callum is plagued, day and night, by demons from the battlefield, and now learns his father is dying.
Sasha Cottman does a wonderful job portraying Callum as a broken man, using drug and alcohol addiction to combat his PTSD. He is torn between finding relief from reliving his terrors, through alcohol and drugs, and seeing what he is doing to his life and relationships with family and friends. The same respite he gets in dealing with the impending loss of his father is tempered with the knowledge that his father has doubts regarding his ability to care for his mother and the family estate. The pain associated with PTSD and substance abuse, commonly seen in war veterans, is not sugar-coated, nor are the difficulties Callum experiences with his friends.
Callum is part of the Noble Lords musical band but is voted out because of his constant substance abuse and drunkenness. The only person who stands by his side is Lady Eliza, who is determined to help him find his way back from his personal hell. But even that relationship is threatened by his self-loathing. In the end, only Callum (with the help of someone in an unlikely place) can truly pull himself up and stay up with the help of his friends.
This was a very moving story – the most intense of the series so far. I enjoyed the book and found it difficult to put down. I am looking forward to Kendall’s book, but it is going to be hard to top this one! I received an advanced copy of the book but happily and voluntarily offer my own opinion.
Callum is book three in the Regency Rock Star series by Sasha Cottman. This was an emotionally challenging book to read. Cottman explores the difficult issues of drug use and alcoholism. Callum was my least favorite book in this series and my least favorite noble lord. A raging alcoholic and drug user, Callum is slowly destroying himself and the world around him. Eliza Follett is the woman who has been in love with him for years. Despite his bad behavior, Eliza stays by him. On the surface that seems noble. But Eliza’s character just felt desperate to me. I wasn’t a fan of their relationship. I am hoping that the next book in the series will be more to my taste. I was given a copy of this book.
