Another fantastic Tawny Weber book! A must-read.
ARC for honest review with no compensation
Call to Engage is the 2nd book in the Poseidon series and what a way to continue, Tawny Weber just continues to write such awesome, suspenseful, intriguing and holy hotness too! ! !
Elijah Prescott has just been released from the hospital after nearly getting blown to bits on a mission that went wrong. He needs to take some time to heal and figure out what went wrong with the mission so he returns home and runs into the only woman who has held his heart all this time even with the heartaches and tragedy they endured but who also happened to be his ex wife, Ava.
Ava Monroe has turned her back on love, marriage and family after she suffers a tragic loss but her ex shows up and she begins to realize that maybe not is all lost with him. She and Elijah begin again slowly with their relationship but evil comes a calling and now Ava may be in more danger than ever before…..
Can these two find their HEA or will it again have a tragedy to end it????
So much going on but I enjoyed this one. I may have enjoyed it more and felt more connected if I had read the first one but sadly I didn’t and I would recommend you do. Elijah has been injured in the last mission and is being mandated to take leave so he is headed home or at least somewhere to rest. He wants to find his ex-wife, Ava, and see if they can reconnect. Ava has started her life again and while she still loves Elijah she does not want to. Reconnecting is something they cannot help but do and she wants to keep it all physical but can they? When danger comes calling, will things get out of hand? Or, and don’t forget, there is the mystery of the betrayal to the team to solve. So much going on and so much to keep the pages turning. I did enjoy this and recommend it!
I’m not sure how Tawny Weber can make each book in this series fresh and engaging while keeping a multiple plot line going so smoothly, but she does and I’m so very grateful.
Lieutenant Elijah Prescott, aka Rembrandt, is back to duty after a mission that went FUBAR. He was on the receiving end of an explosion and a betrayal that has left him questioning his career.
Ava Monroe grew up a princess, her parents had high expectations for her. After a life changing experience, she’s trained and worked toward being responsible for herself in all areas of her life. Ava is now a fearless fitness/massage guru. Her goal is to make the world stronger, one body at a time.
Ava and Elijah have a connection, they were married. Ava works for Elijah’s cousin Mack at his gym. Elijah shows up to visit Mack and work on his inner conflict, that may change his life choices. When Mack signs up Elijah for a massage, he has no idea that his (ex) wife is the masseuse. Neither Elijah or Ava realize how much they need closure…or do they?
Each book in this series just gets better and better. This story has all the best elements, along with a continuing thread of espionage besides the interaction with the main characters and the supporting characters. I can’t wait for the next book.
