Every book in this series is so entrancing I feel like I’m watching a movie time and time again. The author pulls us in with all this action and drama that it feels so real, it amazes me how much it got my heart racing and my concern for the characters were so real I couldn’t put the book down until I learned what happens to them. Trevor is this amazing man that we meet in previous books, he doesn’t hesitate to go and fight for his friends even if his life is in danger, he is all in. He comes from a background of foster care and not having any family, so he becomes extremely close with the Pritchard family especially Austin and Dani. Dani and Trevor fall head over heels for each other as teenagers but things seem to keep them apart for years until Dani needs Trevor’s help. Dani is a headstrong reporter that is set to go on a mission to learn more about a freedom fighter in Venezuela and that is the most dangerous country she could embark to, but with the help of Trevor they are hopeful it will be an in and out ordeal. SO much action and drama takes place just when we think Dani and Trevor about to reunite and like I said I felt like I was watching this on the big screen instead reading it that is just how amazing the author is at telling a story. Trevor and Dani are perfect for each other but they both have trust issues that they must learn to let go and that family isn’t always blood but those who stick by you no matter what. Can’t wait for more.
This had secrets, twists and turns galore that had me on the edge of my seat. Dani and Trevor have a second chance in this action-packed story. The background had me questioning everything and when they have to return to where their hurts started, I was anxious. The chemistry is amazing as always and the story just flows.
Ok read. Trevor and Dani book started off good and enjoyed the ending. It did get slow throughout the book. Lots off drama. Not my favorite in the series but ok.
Suspenseful read, good plot.
Call Sign: Redemption
An Away From Keyboard Romantic Suspense Standalone
By: Patricia D. Eddy
Narrated by: Aiden Snow, Grace Grant
Away From the Keyboard series never has a dull moment. Patricia D. Eddy has such a creative mind and I couldn’t wait to listen to Call Sign: Redemption. This story packs a punch and has a romance to win your heart. Trevor and Dani’s story resonates a true love that cannot be forgotten. Since they were kids, they had feelings for each other, but circumstances have pulled them apart. Now when Dani, a journalist, is set to write story taking her to Venezuela where she needs protection, and Second Sight is hired to help her. This story had my heart racing. The story Dani is going after is dangerous, and has so many life effecting facets, I wasn’t sure how it was all going to play out. Eddy had me on the edge of my seat in suspense, my hope rising that these two could find their way back to each other and they would make it home. Then she brings in all of my favorite characters of the series, and I was thrilled. It’s fast paced, romantic and a fantastic story.
Narrated by Aiden Snow and Grace Grant, we get all the feels. I love these two, and I love that they continue the series together. It’s consistent voicing throughout all the books, and they understand the characters. That is key to giving us a realistic listen and they just get it. Love them together!

I was very excited to receive an advanced copy of this book, as I’ve devoured all the others in this series.
It did not disappoint. While we’ve met Trevor in previous novels, we quickly learned of a defining moment in his career as a CIA operative and got an idea as to what led him to joining Dax and the others at Second Sight. While most of the guys on Hidden Agenda/Second Sight teams exude quiet strength, Trevor comes equipped with the perfect dose of dark humor that will have you smiling and shaking your head at the man in equal measure.
Dani, a close connection from his past, resurfaces and needs his help in a mission that – no word of a lie – had me glued to the page. I loved Dani. She is fierce, confident, stubborn and perhaps a little willfully ignorant of danger. While I’m obviously not hopping planes to foreign countries for front pages, I saw a lot of myself in her resilience day to day. No spoilers, but the phrase “you’re always okay” comes up several times, and her response (not necessarily verbatim) that “you need me to be okay, so I am” spoke volumes to me personally.
This book was everything I expected it to be. We still got to see the team – the family – we’ve grown to love over the past novels, and once again got the message that, whatever the situation, whatever the danger, this family they’ve created from their own broken pieces is anything but fractured.
I’ve loved every book in the Away From Keyboard series, and though each could be read and enjoyed on its own, you’d be doing yourself a disservice but not picking up Book 1 and diving in.
Here’s the thing about this series, it sucks you in. You want to know these people, you cheer for them, you are amazed by their strength and intelligence. This book is no different. I’ve found that the books have improved as the series has gone forward- less computer geekery and more character development. Much like fighting for Valor, this is not for the faint of heart. As
Trevor and Dani go thru their struggles toward their HEA there is an ongoing development in the characters from past books, most especially Dax and Ryker. It has been a pleasure watching them blossom even more. The undercurrent in this story is really about family. Sometimes it’s not what you are born into but what you make. At the heart of the book was Trevor’s and Dani’s separate realizations that they were a family and that they had a family to be a part of no matter what.
Wow! Another fantastic addition to the “Away From Keyboard” series. Trevor is one complex and intriguing character. His past has caused him to keep his emotions and feelings locked away. Dani is a hardened and strong-willed character. Her job as a reporter and her past have made her this way. These two have a past connection and when Dani finds herself in need of help she turns to Trevor.
This book was well-written with interesting characters and a well-developed storyline. There was action, danger, suspense, a rollercoaster ride of emotions and love. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!
I received an advanced readers copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
We have seen Trevor in the background in the other books and new there was more to him and wow I didn’t know it would be something so personal and tragic. Years after distancing himself from Dani and her brother the call comes where Dani needs help with an investigative story that will take them to Venezuela, she needs him to keep her safe due to this skills and he needs to make sure he protects her after what happened years ago. The truth about what happened in the past is revealed along with why Dani is really in Venezuela which leads to tension, danger, working through emotions and realising you can’t always control what will happen but how you deal with it. But never fear they are not alone they are part of the Second Sight and Hidden Agenda family and no one goes it alone when they are around. I can not wait for the next book in the series to see who is up next as this series is just one fantastic book after the other!!!!
Eddy once again serves us a story full of love, suspense, tension, heartbreak, and redemption.
Trevor and Dani are everything you didn’t know you needed and more! I was completely captivated by Trevor and Dani and their journey to each other. They persevere through painful past and twists and turns to remain beautifully broken into each other.
Eddy weaves a narrative unlike any other. Her worlds suck you in and don’t let go until long after you’ve finished reading. Call Sign: Redemption is no exception and I can’t recommend highly enough.
This is the seventh book in the Away From Keyboard Series, an amazing Romantic Suspense. You can read this story as a standalone, but believe me, you don’t want to miss one book in this Series. Trevor and Dani’s second chance at love story is suspenseful and action packed. Trevor is a strong and handsome man, protective and supportive. Dani is a strong woman, courageous, and beautiful. The scenes in the Crypt are suspenseful and breathtaking! I loved to see all the members of this amazing ‘family’ working together. Aiden Snow, Grace Grant did an outstanding job with the narration. I love their voices together. This is a great team author/narrators! I can’t wait for the next book in the Series! I need more! I enjoyed it and I HIGHLY recommend this story and this Series. (review updated with the audiobook version)
Fantastic!
WOW! This is the first book I have read from this amazing author. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to delve into it because I haven’t read the other books – boy was I wrong. It was easy to connect with the story and the characters. The story was fast paced, action packed, suspenseful and very thrilling to read. A nail biter for sure.
Trevor and Dani are amazing characters. Both are strong, fierce but a little flawed (which makes them a perfect couple). Trevor and Dani were very relatable and lovable. The chemistry between these two was intense and off the charts. It may have taken them a while to get there but when they did – it’s explosive!
This story had me highly entertained and utterly captivated from page one. It kept me on the edge of my seat riveted with the story. I can’t wait to read more from this amazing author.
It’s never an easy road to redemption, but Ms Eddy plots a course that’s emotional charged and seductively real. These characters come to life in vibrant, complex and exciting detail. Trevor is a multifaceted character with such depth and feeling that he just completely draws you into his world and dares you to argue. He is joined in this intriguing and suspenseful book by some old favorites that you just didn’t know you missed until they showed up. These guys are gritty, alluring, tough and heartfelt. There stories touch you to the depth of your soul and take pieces of your heart.
Overall Grade:
Make no mistake with this review. I am a huge Patricia D. Eddy fan, especially as it relates to her Away From Keyboard series. Each new book in this series finds me engrossed in its story. The reason for it is its profound story about broken people living broken lives but finding completeness in the arms of their soulmate. This message coupled with the romantic suspense of the book keeps you engaged until the very last page.
The newest chapter in the Away from Keyboard series is Call Sign: Redemption. In this book, Eddy offers the story of Trevor and Dani. Trevor works for Second Sight, Dax Holloway’s (the hero from Eddy’s Second Sight) company. As a former foster care child, Trevor has learned to live life by himself with few connections. This book begins with his past where we find that he must make a decision about his best friend that leaves him broken and hiding from building friendships. Dani is a reporter who decides to pursue a news story. However, she must travel to a dangerous prison in Venezuela for the interview behind the story. To do so, she enlists the help of Trevor to act as her cameraman and protection. Dani and Trevor have a past, where Trevor stood up Dani, the woman he has always wanted but felt he wasn’t good enough for. As they travel to Venezuela and encounter danger there, their old feelings come alive. Unfortunately, the situation becomes precarious and Trevor is put in danger. Dani must save him, but to do so, she mobilizes Trevor’s friends with Second Sight and Hidden Agenda. In the process of saving Trevor, Dani risks her life for the man she knows she has always loved. Will the team be successful to save Trevor, and will Dani and Trevor find a happy ending?
I have to admit that this is the first Away from Keyboard story of which I struggled. Trevor’s story is an important one. This is a man who is placed in foster homes throughout his youth until age 18 when he is emancipated, so he lives his life as a bit of a nomad, never finding his replacement family. Dani and her adopted brother Austin, along with her adoptive parents, come closest to taking the place of Trevor’s family. Yet, Trevor struggles to see this connection. As such, Trevor doesn’t believe he can find a place to land or find a family to love him. He sees himself as a lone wolf, even though he surrounds himself with people who will sacrifice their lives for him. This message through the character of Trevor is the gravity of Call Sign: Redemption. When Trevor recognizes that the men and women of Hidden Agenda and Second Sight are his family, the story finds its zenith, and it connects deeply with the reader.
What I struggled with was the progression of Dani and Trevor’s relationship. Eddy is usually so careful in the development of the relationships between her heroes and heroines. In Call Sign: Redemption, feelings and actions between the two seemed rushed and underdeveloped. I wanted more background to Dani and Trevor’s story. In doing so, I think their reunion and the ignition of feelings would have felt more profound and essential. Instead, it read like a spike in chemistry. These two are seemingly soulmates, but that isn’t fully articulated until Dani sacrifices her safety for Trevor. I think Eddy could have built their backstory more as a way to connect us more deeply to their relationship.
Also, while reading the book, I was confused as to why the U.S. Government would allow one of their former CIA agents to be extradited back to Venezuela. I found myself researching the Venezuelan/U.S. Extradition Treaty because it seemed like a stretch that the government wouldn’t fight to keep him on US soil. Instead, Eddy allows it in her story, as a means to create the rescue of Trevor. However, I couldn’t suspend my disbelief because Trevor is shipped out expeditiously (which seemed odd) and he was former CIA. I’d like to think that the US would delay extradition given Venezuela’s precarious relationship with the US. This moment in the story made me question the plot twist and impetus for the eventual resolution of the story.
That being said, the true power of Call Sign: Redemption is Patricia D. Eddy’s magnification of her characters’ broken parts. This is what we sign up to read when we enter this series. We all live with broken pieces. They nick our hearts and, sometimes, make it difficult to be loved. That’s clear in Trevor’s story as he struggles to make meaningful relationships with his colleagues, even though they want a meaningful connection with him. As his love for Dani grows, the possibility of this grows stronger, highlighting the message that love can bind our broken pieces together and make us feel whole again, offering us a place of safety and pure love. This is the true essence of Patricia D. Eddy’s newest book, Call Sign: Redemption, and it holds the power of the story.
I love this entire series all of the characters are so beautifully broken but in this latest offering Patricia D Eddy as written the ultimate broken hero in Trevor Moana. While this book drags all of your emotions leaving you almost broken it is also one of the most uplifting books I have ever read Given to the true value of love and redemption and the art to forgive yourself.
Trevor Moana is a man of the foster system he has his emotions totally locked down the only two people he ever let inside his walls where Dani and Gil Monroe. While this makes him the perfect CIA assassin that he has become it also means that when things go wrong he has no emotional support system He finally hits the point when he can no longer work for the CIA after he has to make that last fatal kill when he killed his best friend and he now works for Second Sight. Dani Monroe has never got over the death of her brother she knows it had to be done after ll he had turned traitor to his country but that doesn’t mean that she has excepted it and she has never opened that packet of information that arrived after his death until years later now she needs to head to Venezuela to get to the bottom of that story and the only person that can go with her is Trevor the man that killed her brother. Be prepared for a adventure ride and extreme suspense as the men and women of second sight and their counterparts fight to save one of their own. While this is a total stand alone with only characters from previous stories in this book do yourself a favour Read them all in order You will appreciate it far more if you know each characters back story
An amazing read where we FINALLY get to know Trevor, the ex CIA agent and his secrets and meet the only woman he has ever loved, Dani. The two have known each other since there were young and one fateful night, just when the two were going to make the next step, betrayal from someone they both loved, keeps them apart. Not only that but an incident that finally made Trevor leave the CIA and join Second Sight, keeps Trevor and Dani apart. Until she needs his help and Trevor will do anything to keep her safe…even if it leads to his death.
Holy smokes all the feels in this read had me flipping the pages, the betrayals, the acts, the steam, the heartache and heartbreak, the action, the torture, family coming together to fight and protect each other…WOW.
I loved everything about this read, the story flowed beautifully, the characters were amazing, the suspense and action kept me on the edge of my seat and Trevor and Dani…LOVED them, along with all the other characters we have grown to love in this series. I loved that there was little to no drama between the two, no past exes or hook ups brought up, Trevor and his protective alpha ways but also showing his vulnerable side and Dani, strong and capable throughout.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I read an ARC of this book, which has just now released. This is the next book, Number Seven, in the Away From The Keyboard series by Ms. Eddy. The main characters in this book, with the exception of the heroine, have been introduced (some only briefly, ie JSOC Pritchard) in previous books.
The book has a very nicely plotted story, populated by characters you can’t help but like. My favorite from a previous book, Ryker is there, joined by Ford, Wren, Cam, Graham, Ronan, and lest we not overlook Dax, of the “though the intelligence of having a blind man orchestrate your infil is definitely questionable” fame (that isn’t the first time I snickered during this book). You’re going to like these characters, you will want to take them home to meet your … scratch that, not until you clean them up a bit. But you WILL want to take them home. And you’ll also want to read about them again and again. I started reading this series on Book 2, and had to go back to Book 1, because the devil is in the details. And Ms Eddy knows her details. The story is set in DC, Boston, and Caracas, Venezuela where our heroes have to go to get Trevor out of a jam. And that is absolutely all I’m going to say about the story except one thing – this book is fiction. That means the author has the right, and some would say the responsibility, to put her characters into situations that make their personalities shine through. In fact, without some artistic license, no fiction book on earth would be worth reading. If I wanted to read about Caracas, Venezuela, I’d go buy a travel guide. If I want to share adventure with some incredibly endearing characters, I’d pick up a Patricia D Eddy book. If you don’t like situations that might never happen in real life, if you don’t like it when a character is “bigger than life”, and if you don’t like it when you can imagine something like that happening in the real world, you might want to read non-fiction, because this particular author is very good at placing her characters in situations that bring out the best in them.
About the writing? There’s something Ms. Eddy also has (and although this isn’t a secret, apparently I’m the one letting the cat out of the bag), she’s got great comedic timing. You’ll see. Just remember Liam Neeson and understand there are dozens of places to put a funny, brilliant comment – the ones who have good timing put them in just the right places.
The plotting of this story could have gone totally haywire because of the action combined with details, but the author managed to sort through them and lay out the story so that the reader sees the details, hears and feels the emotion, and follows along with the characters during a suspenseful adventure. I love the way she developed the heroine’s character, in bits and pieces because it let’s the reader get to know her slowly and pick up on all the nuances in her personality that make her so perfect for this book. And we can’t forget the love story that actually drives this plot from beginning to end. Trevor and Dani have known each other since they were kids. Knowing that, as you’re reading this book, I can guarantee a lot of sniffles at the end. This book has the kind of HEA that you expect to find in romances, the kind that will make your toes curl, and a big sigh is heard.
Do I recommend this book? Oh hell yes. If you are reading military romances and want something that can be gritty and suspenseful yet endearing, full of the love of life but also full of very human emotions, you’ll want to read Patricia D. Eddy’s romances and enjoy her characters.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Trevor seriously has some – as in, many – issues due to his past, but he isn’t as broken as Dax or Ry used to be before they met their significant others in the previous books of the AFK-series. Anyway, the story doesn’t start as the other books in the series, with lots of painful flash-backs, but it makes up during the story. There seriously are some situations you will wonder how they’ll ever make it out of. A very suspensful story I more than enjoyed reading.
Call Sign: Redemption is book seven in the Away From Keyboard series by Patricia D. Eddy. This is a second chance romantic suspense novel that grabbed me from the very first page. The entire series is amazing but there was something about these two and their connection. They might be my favorite. Really, the blurb says everything for this but I will try to give you a little more to help to convince you that this is one book you can’t live without!
Trevor Moana still lives with the nightmares of the time he served. Of the things he did. Mostly of the last mission. The shot that changed so many lives. For the last five years he has worked for Second Sight, a security and investigative firm in Boston. He has found a new family with the men and women he works with. But he still keeps himself separate from everyone else. He keeps his past to himself. Until his past showed up at his office door.
Dani Monroe is a well known investigative reporter for the Washington Post. Dani is adopted and loves her brother and her parents. She never felt the need to know the details of her past until recently. Now she finds herself with the opportunity of a lifetime, the story that could change her career as well as find a missing link to her past. But in order to get the story, she will have to travel to Caracas, Venezuela, one of the most dangerous places in the world. She can’t go without a body guard and her brother is not available. So the only other person is a man from her past that broke her heart in more ways than one, Trevor.
Trevor and Dani are forced to face the past they share, the pain. They both quickly realize that the love they both once felt for each other is still there and always has been. And with that love, could there be forgiveness? Will they even have the chance to explore what could be between them? The danger they face in Caracas threatens everything. But their bond is unbreakable. They will always be there for each other. Only this time, will it be enough?
“You are mine, and before we’re done here tonight, you’re going to know it better than you know your own name.”
“I’m yours as well.”
Wow! This book! These two were so strong. I loved how Dani was such a strong woman but this author still made her soft as well. I was riveted from the first page. I could not put this down. Every book in this series is amazing but something about these two really grabbed me.
I’m not sure what comes next for this series but I can guarantee that I will be waiting impatiently for it!
Dani needs help from the one person she vowed never to contact again. Unfortunately Trevor is the only one who can help her but at the same time is the one person who hurt her the most. But the family connection in Venezuela will not go away and Trevor has no choice but to go there with her to keep her safe. But his safety is compromised and ends up being tortured. Now Dani is the only one that can help him and needs the rest of his Second Sight family to save him. But will they get there in time to safe Trevor before he breaks? Will he ever forgive Dani for putting him in that position? Can one wrong clear out another? I have loved this group from the first book in the series and with each addition the stories get better and better and the characters get stronger and stronger. Broken or otherwise these are the men you want on your six.
