True love never dies. Not even when those around me are trying to kill it. With vampire bounty hunters still out for me, having the Grand Coven accuse me of treason against witches is the last thing I need. No one should tell me who I can and cannot love.Determined not to let anyone or anything get in our way, Lucas and I decide to lay low for a while and let everything blow over with my coven … over with my coven while Lucas hunts for the vampires who tried to kidnap me. But things, of course, don’t go according to plan, and when I stumble upon an ancient evil force hiding out in the underground of Chicago, we realize our forbidden romance is the least of our worries.
As we search for a way to defeat unbeatable odds, I start to discover that things aren’t what they seem…including my very existence.

I thought it was a real page-turner and all the characters had their own feelings about some things. I recommend you read the first and second book before you read this one, though.
Call of Night was absolutely perfect. The books keep on exceeding my expectations and gets more thrilling as the series progresses.
At the end of the previous book, we see Callie been charged with crimes against the witch community. That was a whopper of a cliffhanger and made me anxious for this book which couldn’t come soon enough. In Call of Night we get to see more of the progressing relationship of Callie and our hottie vampire, Lucas. I am so jealous of his utter devotion and his undying love for Callie (literally). With every books, comes more questions that has me dying for the answers and in FINALLY a major question has been answered in this book (but that just leads to more questions). I sort of saw that coming. It was either one of two options. We all know Callie is not a regular witch and has undeniably more power than the other witches (which they witnessed on many occasions) but she still ages making her human or half human.
Eliza also features in quite a few scenes in this book. Her relationship with Callie is still the same but not at the same time (It’s Eliza, Duh! She doesn’t like to show her emotions). I also loved that Abby appeared in many chapters. I loved getting to know her and also for Callie to finally be mending her relationship to the one person who loved her in her house growing up.
This book had just as much witchery and badassery as the previous books with Callie and Lucas also having A LOT of sexy times. (Not all are described though)
Can October come soon! I need Still of Night like right now!
Call of Night is the 3rd book in the Thorne Hill series. This book starts off where Dark of Night left off with Callie being tried by the Grand Coven for having told Lucas, a vampire and her lover where the location of the door to her coven is. The crime is punishable by death if found guilty. Witches and Vampires are not to be together because they are enemies but not Callie and Lucas. They are more in love now then ever.
This story took a turn that took a turn I didn’t expect.
It seems that everyone wants Callie dead when they find out who she really is and there is a huge cliffhanger.
But I expected that! Book 4 Callie and Lucas’s story continues with Still of Night! It will be out in October. I can’t wait to read it. If you haven’t read books 1 & 2 you do need to read them first.
Call of Night kept my interest throughout the book. I hated to have to put it down to work. You can believe I took every chance I had to read it on my breaks. I am loving this book and series. 5 Stars all the way!!!
Well, this installment of the Thorne Hill series has taken a turn that I did NOT expect. I absolutely adored this series and book three does not let down. Between the action, the passion and the secrets that are coming to light, I was blown away by the concept that Goodwin has come up with in this story. Callie is as ever, sassy and witty and does not back down even when she has been told not to do things. Lucas’s love for Callie shines even brighter in this installment as things are thrown at them left and right. As we delve deeper into this one, you find out little bits of what makes Callie, Callie. You find out some whys but leaves you begging for more answers.
Overall, this series is just ramping up and I really do not want it to end. I am in love with these characters and watching them grow is just spellbinding and I wish I lived in Thorne Hill! Between the storyline and the character build, you cannot help but fall in love with everything that Goodwin brings to the table with this story. If you haven’t picked up this series, do it now! Because you do not want to be left behind!
Callie and Lucas are back again and their love is hotter than ever! The constant question that has been burning in my mind for the entirety of this series was what is Callie? We’ve known for a while that she’s not just a witch. There have been hints dropped here and there and I was elated to finally know the answer. And you are all in for a treat.
I will say this book didn’t quite pack a punch like the first book, but I was happy to be along for the crazy ride that is Callie’s life. Between the coven, demon hunters and well trying to have a love story that not quite everyone is on-board for. It’s a bit of a roller coaster to say the least.
But my absolute favorite moments are the ones she shares with Lucas. They’re tender and sweet, but he’s soooo very protective of her. However, I love his immense support and how he’s constantly standing at her side. He knows that she’s more than capable of handling herself in any situation, but he will always lay down the rest of his existence for her.
We get some crazy information towards the end of the book and it’ll just bring more drama to Callie’s life. But I’m here for all of it and to see what the end game is. I can’t wait for book 4, Still of Night.

Emily Goodwin
Call of Night by Emily Goodwin is book 3 in her Thorne Hill series. Call of Night is not s stand-alone read and the previous books need to be read 1st before book 3 is started. Call of Night picks up where Dark of Night left off.
This is an amazingly fast-paced story, full of action, drama, angst, paranormal fantasy, feels, romance and twists/turns that keep the reader engaged from start to finish. Callie and Lucas are still engaged in their forbidden romance which is quite a sizzling relationship that has the chemistry and connection that leaps off the pages of the book. I loved the paranormal elements of the story and the suspense that comes with action that will steal your breath. I can’t wait for book 4 in this fabulous series!!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
So because I’m a rebel, I didn’t read the second book in this series. I read the first, but skipped the next book. Admittedly (and naturally), this definitely resulted in me missing a big chunk of storyline.
That being said, I still was able to read and enjoy the book.
Would I recommend this as a standalone book? Yeah maybe if I wanted to mess with someon.
Would I recommend skipping the second book? Meh, only if I knew the person was okay or could get over missing part of the story.
Would I recommend the series as a whole? Yes.
I seriously have a lady crush on Emily Goodwin & her writing. I absolutely love it. She has a way of making you feel a part of the story and makes you connect with each character she brings to you. Love it.
I have loved her writing since I first read The Dawson Family series and so when she came out saying she had a paranormal romance coming, I knew i had to jump on board with this. I loved both books 1 & 2 and book 3 did not disappoint. It only drew me in more.
When more weird and dangerous things start to happen in Thorne Hill, Callie is forced to take a step back by Tabitha. Needing to lay low and go on with her regular day to day life, Callie goes back to Lucas’ Chicago house, but trouble always seems to find her. Uncovering more things and discovering she is still being hunted, Lucas and Callie are not exactly able to “lay low and act normal”.
Forbidden love between vampires and witches, but Callie & Lucas won’t let anything come in their way of being with each other. Nothing. Even all the evil coming after them, they will do everything to protect each other.
This book is an absolute page turner and will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time, with all the drama & suspense, and the even more steamy romance between them, this book is AMAZING!
Three words for Emily Goodwin:
GIVE. ME. MORE.
